If you provide a link to a site that use this. I can test it.
But does this thread actually belong in this section or should it be in the

Hi there,
I'm currently trying to get the WP7 emulator on my Win8 tablet, just to have a device with a very big screen to show my developed stuff to my bosses.
It has very limited disk capacity and cpu power, therefore I'm not going to install VS 2010 or the WP7 SDK.
So, here are my questions:
Does anybody have a current version of the standalone emulator installer? The one in this thread links to multiupload which is currently down. The one in this thread is the old one which doesn't work with current images (and it requires some missing assemblies)
Does the current version of the Phone7Market work without installing the Phone 7 SDK? I don't want to create that overhead just to show an app to somebody on a big touchscreen
So the core question is: How do I run an (xap-)app (in an emulator) on a pc without installing the SDK/VS?
I've already installed Zune, but not the SDK. I hope somebody can help me.
Greetings,
relexx
Perhaps I should redefine my question: Where do I find a mirror for the standalone emulators?
The WP7 emulator doesn't work on Windows 8 Developer Preview.
It's a known bug.
OK, thanks. I didn't know that - where did you get that information from?
Nevertheless I would like to use it on Windows 7 so where can I find the standalone emulator download? The links to multiupload are dead.
I've installed the dev tools myself since I am a windows phone 7 developer.
Starting the emulator on windows 8 causes a blue screen.

Mine was giving connection errors, but putting it in compatibility mode at least let it launch.. until it hit the blue screen...

I am trying to write a Web Browser application for Windows Phone 7 and I am able to create a general browser application (not that hard) but the specific site that I am writing the application for does not technically "Support" Windows Phone 7. What I want to do is to have the Windows Phone 7 browser somehow make the site think that it is an Android, IOS, or Desktop machine so the site can be viewed on windows phone. Currently I am just using the general Navigate argument to display the site in a browser control but have not seen any properties to change for the browser to control to tell it what to show the page as, any help would be greatly appreciated. I am doing all of my dev work in VS 2010.
Thank you,
John
You need to set the User-Agent header to a user-agent string used by one of the other browsers. There are a few apps that already do this., incidentally.

The Navigate() method accepts a parameter for user agent string. But will only work for initial page requests, not for clicked links from within the webbrowser content.
Is this real?
Watch "Jailbreak my windows surface rt 8 1" on YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RemBuY0InWM&feature=youtube_gdata_player
Sent from my GT-P3100 using xda app-developers app
i love the way he said: it's not a fake, it's not a fake, but seems to be 8.0 Rt and not 8.1
Blatantly fake. The video focus is terrible, probably to hide the fact that the System info page doesn't say 8.1 on it anywhere (that I could see...), but there are plenty of other clues too. No Start button is the obvious one. The taskbar icons for Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote but not for Outlook is also very suggestive. He also shows no actual jailbreaking process at all.
Oh, and this is neither development nor hacking. It belongs in the General forum, not here. I get that you are Really Excited about this and think it is Magic an all, but please do at least attempt to follow the forum rules...
Video is fake...thread closed!

Hello, and welcome to XDA!
I don't know much about WP, but it seems to me if you have access to a VNC server app you can put on your phone, you just need a VNC client on the PC. Depending on the remote control settings, you can allow the PC to make clicks on the phone. But I've only done this with Android.
Could I can the make and model of the phone you are trying to cast? Thanks.

it's microsoft lumia 1320. windows 8.1 device.

Aha. So there is no device-related forum I can piggy-back this onto unfortunately.
I tried to find a VNC server app for WP8.1, and came up short handed due to the Windows App Store website not having a search button that doesn't search all of Microsoft.
At any rate, a post in this forum (for options) is well worth it:

Hope this helps, and good luck!
