Well said. Nobody deserves to have to use a LG smartphone.

I like the G2X but why would you buy a phone that is over a year old and has already been officially EOL'd. Buy yourself a new faster, 1.5 dual core with a Pentaband 3/4g radio, or wait for one of the new tri or quad cores coming out soon.

Agreed. If I were looking for a phone and a plan right now, I would be all over this deal. Not all of us can drop a large amount of money on a smartphone. The only reason I got this one instead of one of the MUCH cheaper, lower end phones was because my uncle gave me the money for it. He knew I was struggling and wanted me to have something nice for a change. He knew my contract was about to expire so he gave me enough for the phone and upgrade costs.
Ok, so that was probably too personal of a post but regardless, the moral of the story is that not everyone can afford a smartphone. Even though there are numerous complaints about this phone, to a poor person this is pure gold, lol.

It may be free but I'm stuck on a 2 year contract if I do that. I got this phone for free (without a 2 year contact) and I still hate it. It has an okay feel to it, but it's just too buggy and battery is just too terrible.

This phone only sucks if you are a newb and can't install custom roms.

Thanks for the info! I was going to get tmobile last week and they had the mytouch 4G for freee and this week they have the G2x, which ends on thursday 1/19/12. So i guess i'll have to wait until friday and see what "higher" end device is free.

No, actually once you fix it, it is trully flawless. Install Bionix, fix mms, rip out the lg framework and any lg apps, set min clock to 300, Max clock to 916, and it'll run perfectly.

Most people who are looking for a deal/steal will go for the G2X even though it's an EOL fire sale which they won't be aware of. They also won't be aware of the lack of support for it. They will be sold on it because of what it can do for no $ investment compared to other no $ investment phones and they will be quite happy with it. They might even get a bonus if the class-action lawsuit succeeds.

I also agree, at this point might as well wait for the bionic. The bionic release version will be fully optimized. I know it has been mentioned before that the TB scored better in bench marks but that was against a bionic with android that was not optimized for the tegra. I want to see the benchmarks on the retail products.
its gonna be a win win for consumers either way, not including tiered data.
Actually, on page 8 of their in store ad in fine print it says available in New Jersey.

That helps me. Im in NJ
I was very excited about the Atrix and preordered the phone only to cancel a couple of days later and I'm glad I did after I saw what kind of network speeds they were getting. I've decided I will not pre-order anything on a new network anymore. I'll let you other guys test the waters. I'd rather have an idea of what I'm getting and how much it's going to cost before hand, rather than making a lot of changes only to have to return something. Plus my Evo is getting better and better with Cyanogen anyway. I want to see what 4G will cost, what kind of data speeds Verizon will give the phones plus I have a couple of questions about the Thunderbolt itself, starting with the battery.

Likely same at Best Buy and Verizon. And Amazon and other online sellers will have it the same day, I imagine for $100 less or so as they do with other phones. I dont think the phone is much better than the Inspire 4G on ATT which sells for $99. So anything over 199 is too much for th TB I think.
Best Buy only has a retail store exclusive, not complete.

I have been with verizon over 10 years and neither mom, dad, wife, or myself have ever purchased a phone for full price. And i have never kept a phone over a year. I just call in tell them I want to buy a phone and say I know my contract is not up but I wanted to know if i can get a loyality credit toward a new phone. And there you have it pay like $50 bucks to move contract up but you have to buy the phone right there and then. And some of the reps are lazy they won't do this for you just call back and you will find one that likes their job. My lastest upgrade came for free a few months after the thunderbolt came out I was having reboot issues on nonrooted phone took it into store can't be fixed, I was having dropped data for days at a time, needless to say didn't want a replacement thunderbolt so i got a free upgrade to new phone at 2 year price, then I rooted my phone and it fixed all my problems.

are there any good sales for this phone?

Long story short: broke my Sidekick, need a new phone.
the only phones I'm interested in is another Sidekick ($380), or a mytouch 4g slide (at least $500). problem is, even though my contract has run only a few months, it's actually cheaper to pay the cancellation fee (max $200) and switch to another provider than to buy a new phone unsubsidized, which afaik, is all t-mobile will allow. (kind of a screwed up business model, huh?)
so since its almost black friday in 6 hours or so,, does anyone know of a good sale on either Mytouch 4g slide, or even the Sidekick?
May want to check t mobiles website. You can always buy a refurbished phone as well.

thanks for the suggestions guys, but the only good deal I found at all was for the Samsung Transform Ultra, on Boost Mobile. so I went for that, I think I'll be pretty happy to finally have real stock android rather than a Sense/Touchwiz infection.
I did look for deals on tmobile phones, but they were all for new contracts and upgrades ONLY. I even got on the customer service line twice and explained to them that 1. I could not keep using the broken phone, and 2. the ONLY adequate replacements are twice the cost of cancelling; they did not seem to have a contingency for this. oh well, their loss. my new phone, of course, will have a protection plan, but still, Tmobile really should rethink their replacement system.

Just sell your cell phone contract to a third party.
well now that i'm on Boost, I've been noticing that If I started a new contract with Tmobile under the current black friday weekend deals, I could get this or several other phones free and then actually recoup some of the money I just spent, provided I return the Boost phone I just bought. so:
in general, how good is this phone? I noticed it seemed smooth and lagless in store, but of course that's just a store model without a bunch of additional apps from the market. I'm mostly wondering if Sense causes problems at all regarding compatibility with any apps, or stability problems that wouldn't be expected to happen on a stock 2.3 rom. I have a stock 2.3 phone now, so that could be a risky change; however, this phone I have is only $230 new, single core, and is known for a screen sensitivity problem that may get worse on my handset, but may not.
also, could I expect any problems or side effects from rooting? one of my goals in that, if I get the MT4GS, will be to quickly turn the "genius" button into a search button. that cause problems for anyone? I did the same thing on the Sidekick, and sometimes it worked, sometimes not. but it may have just been that particular phone.

My upgrade is around the same time. If the GS III launch is anything like the GS II, it'll hit the states months after the rest of the world. I Will never buy any T mobile branded phone ever again. Not even their service I will use again.I urge fellow people who have bought cell phones from them; example mytouch 4g slide, amaze 4g and a host of others not to purchase any phones from them in the future,After reading and seeing the end of life article of most of these cellphones,I am deeply disturbed at this trend from T-mobile.My hard earned cash is totally disrespected as purchased this cellphone at no contract price. This is the second time this has happened in less than two years from T-mobile.Totally despicable in my books !

good for you. I am used to it... I was with Virgin Mobile before I came to T-mo and if you think T-mo is bad. *shudder* At least T-mo releases updates... In the history of VM there has been 1 update. 1 and only 1. To a outdated phone to an outdated os... So I personally can live with having a phone have 0 updates or go to it's end of life... There is always dev support.
Also people complaining of lack of dev support... There are lots of devs here compared to a lot of other phones...

Nope, sadly keyboard phones are dying out. At least the ones with highend specs. Somebody linked to the next MyTouch earlier in this thread.

There's no 4G on wind. Plus, I'd stay away from this phone. Get the nexus or the HTC.

I love this phone, but took a lot of hassle/reading to make it work the way it supposed to.
So, if you're eligible for wind tab (which is not that easy with there credit check expectations) why don't you go Galaxy Nexus? I'm not too sure about the current price, though.

If i select $199 on WINDtab on $40 plan for Galaxy Nexus, how many months do i have to pay $40 so can i pay $40 for 1 month then change to $25 ? And is this case for 3 years agreement ?

Honestly, I don't know exactly how it is working with the tab. I assume they deduct a certain percentage from your monthly charges toward the price of the device, so eventually you will come to zero if you gonna stick with them long enough. There is no such a thing as 3 years term with wind, you pretty much contract free. Give them a buzz, they will explain, especially when it comes to changing plans.

If you want a brand new device for wind, I wouldn't get the g2x at this point especially from wind cuz their prices are marked up. Just add a little bit of cash and get the $399 galaxy nexus someone posted a deal for here. If u can't spent that much money then u can find a used g2x on kijiji/eBay for around $200. Also, there's gonna be the g4x from tmo that's gonna be compatible with wind but I wouldn't buy LG at this point cuz the g2x was enough. Not that they are totally assholes, I think its just that they can't make good software for their hardware. Its up to u of course, but I think getting a g2x used wouldn't be such a bad deal. Maybe even get one with a broken digitizer for dirt cheap and just fix it if u like a challenge. Believe it or not some people are really that clueless. A friend of mine bought an iPhone 4 from some old Guy for a $100 cuz the man didn't know/didn't wanna go through the hassles of fixing it.
Whatever u do don't get the phone new from wind unless u like paying top price for obsolete technology. I mean it can still stay on par with today's phones performance wise but not in screen size/amount of(unnecessary) cores. Let us know your choice

i am looking for a phone that around $100 cash + $25 monthly for plan. the brand and company doesn't matter for me . I dont want to used phone because I am new in Canada... it is hard to fix for me right now.
i wont buy lg optimus 2x P999 in this situation..
Well if ur new in Canada then I guess you don't have credit history, and as far as I know wind doesn't give out tabs to people who can't give some kind of credit history and proof that they have income. Thing is, you wont find a g2x for $100 unless something is wrong with it. Even if u do get windtab, you will still have to pay out the full price which is like $300-$400 and it would come in like $3-$5 each month on top of your regular bill. So in a year or two, if you are still with wind you will still be paying out the full price of the phone, might as well drop another hundred and buy the phone outright.. just some advice on what I would do...

There's other androids that work with wind/mobilicity. They include: Nexus One, Nexus S, Galaxy Nexus, T-Mobile sensation, T-Mobile gs2, g2(HTC desire or something) also g1 which falls in your price range lol

I love this phone but if money isn't an issue for you I would choose the galaxy nexus. Its a newer phone and it is very nice. The g2x is a great phone though! I love mine.

That's not true. The wind tab does not add anything to your monthly bill. It takes 5% from each payment and puts it towards your tab. You can pay your tab off three ways 1) your monthly 5%s pay off your tab 2) you wait 3 years and wind pays it for you or 3) you get tired of your phone so you pay off the remaining balance before your 3 years are up.
If you can get the tab it's well worth it. Because you're guaranteed to at least pay less than what you would've had to if you bought it out right and brand new

Yup, and at the end you are left with less money than if you just bought the phone.
Gotta love American schemes
