[Q] how to send picture text messages with cyanogenmod - HTC Inspire 4G

Hi, like the title says is there a way to send picture text messages and receive them on cyanogenmod? because of this issue i have been using miui

I never had this problem but try GoSMS

You need to set your settings right in apn. I send/receive fine.

Also remember you have to have back ground data turned on for it to work

Mobil's data must be on to send and receive picture text. Wont work with wi-fi only for some reason texting need mobile data to send pics.
Absolution also way better version of CM7 is my opinion. But to each their own flavor.

Its because mms use 1kb of data to send the info. Still. Not sure why CM roms don't work like OEM based when disabling data but forces it back on for MMS. Just always been that way.

Handcent SMS

Anyone else's friends say the're receiving blank texts when sending a pic message from handcent sms? I have confirmed the stock messaging app works fine, its only when using handcent on my wife's mt4g.

I haven't had any issues sending pictures with Handcent.
I've had that but with chompsms hmm...
from Snugs hTc ViSiON
my husband just got the MyTouch 4g and he is having the same issue. if he sends me a pic from handcent I get a blank message. but if he send its via the stock app i get it just fine.
He had an G2 before and handcent worked just fine. So I think its some wierd interaction with the MyTouch 4g and handcent. Also I have the nexus one and handcent is working fine.
just sent myself a message and it worked, ill try sending one to my gf
Handcent need some work for the mnt4g

Thanks for the replies. Good to know it's not just me. I'll send feedback to the devs of handcent sms, if you use this app, please do the same so they support it. Thanks.
Go to
settings/wireless & networks/mobile networks/access point networks/check the "t-mobile data".
The reason the mms doesnt work is due to being checked on "TelKila", whatever that is, but that should clear up all the mms problems on your mytouch 4g.

actually for me it doesn't. The stock messaging app works fine but Handcent wont send mms. Weird.....
Interesting that you guys bring this up - I don't think it's just this phone!
A few days before picking this phone up on launch day I was having the same issue on my Nexus One, but that was using the vanilla messaging app...
If someone wants, PM me and we'll swap phone numbers and we can test. I've yet to try sending any photos on the MT4G

handcent has updated a few times, 3.4.1, 3.4.2, 3.4.3, in the last 72hours.
i'm using handcent right now and didn't set it as a default when the window pops up and asked me if i want to. so now i receive texts from my stock and handcent. aren there anyway for me to set handcent as my default?
Settings > applications > handcent > defaults...
i saw the default button but it doesn't let me press on it.

Phone sending out texts?

So I check my data usage alot via *3282#. I noticed that I have sent over 400 texts since I got this phone, but I don't remember texting that much because i don't text that much. Can anything like apps send texts?
Sent from my HTC Inspire 4G
The *DATA# measures outgoing and incoming messages so maybe that could make up for the difference? There are apps that will send/receive messages ad well, so you wanna double check any permissions of apps you download
Sent from my Inspire 4G using XDA App
Okay... so it should add by two then. What are apps that usually send data?

[Q] mms issue. People can't receive my pics

I am running the infused 1.5.3 rom and go sms. When I try to send a picture to my friend who has the exact phone I do and also my wife who has the iphone 4. They are both receiving this message
"Your phone is not compatible with this message type or size. Portions of this message will not be displayed."
Yet pics I send to my friend who has verizon go just fine. Is there some setting I'm missing? Thanks in advance.

does your phone ask you if you would like to resize them when you try and send...if so are you selecting yes
are there any other changes that you have made like:
freezing thesms/mms app
using a different sms app
etc etc
and then the same goes for their end...
have they made any changes, do they receive pics from others and only not yours

I am using go sms and I've tried stock sms. I haven't froze any sms apps. It doesn't ask me to resize, just the usual compressing or resizing message it normally gives without prompting for a user response. My friends infuse is stock and not rooted and my wifes iphone 4 is jailbroken but nothing has changed anytime recently with it. The apps I have frozen is just media hub. Yes they can receive pics from others and send them as well.
Edit: I have media hub, maps, and news & weather frozen.
Actually it just reads "converting to multimedia message" no prompt for anything. Very frustrating as to why mainly verizon people are getting my pics and not others. Thats how it seems anyway.
As far as trying to send pics that I actually took with my phone then forget about it. Longest I've had it sit is about 15 minutes before I get pissed and just delete the send. Those stay stuck on "sending" and never go anywhere.

I use handcent...in the settings there is an option of "max mms message size limit"
I believe you want that to be 2mb...anything over that will not send to some phones.
that has been the only instance where some people did not receive my msgs.
Have you tried on wifi and network? I have not noticed the issue on att, but on sprint you could not send or receive mms while on wifi
those are the only things I can think of

I do currently have it set to 4g 5M for the photo size. I could give that a shot. Still odd that it would not send to my friends infuse I have tried wifi and att network and home I have the 3g microcell which is NOT worth the $200. I'm kinda pissed I bought it.
If you want full bars yet calls cut in and out and you want to resend each text about 4 times cause they will instantly fail (happens no where but when I'm connected to microcell) then pick one up lol
But yea the mms issue happens elsewhere as well.

I kept the size the same for now but unchecked preserve image size and now it seems the pics send. Yesterday it would be stuck on sending. I can only test with people at work. The ones with issues are asleep right now. Hopefully that or the 2m image size fixes the issue

[Q] No MMS after rooting

Hi all -
I'm using the Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727 and I have just rooted last night. This morning, I am unable to receive MMS picture as I usually can from my girlfriend, who is an iphone user. If I send an MMS pictures to myself, it works fine. I read somewhere you have to reset your APN settings, which I've done but it doesn't seem to have changed anything. I've also rebooted a few times. I should tell you that I have backed-up and uninstalled the stock messaging app, since I use Go SMS exclusively. I tried to restore it but was unable to. Could this be the problem or do I need to make more changes to my APN settings?
Thanks in advance
If you search for skyrocket APN's you should get an idea of the settings (PTA is the only one I use)
If you long press the message, does it let you see the attachment/recognize the message as a mms?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using XDA
na
it just shows the text - no mms. I got one successfully from my brother (who's on an android), so i'm waiting to see if I can get one from the iphone
take a look at GO SMS in the market and what it supports; it may not support MMS. A lot of apps don't process MMS texts just fyi.
So message details only recognizes it as a SMS, but only when sent from an iPhone? Can you have them turn off imessage? I'm going to guess that's part of the issue
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using XDA
Just thought id mention this, my mom, dad and sister all have iphones and tried sending me MMSs yesterday, did not work just continuously say downloading.
however i called my mom and while on the phone she sent me the mms again, i checked it while on the phone and it successfully downloaded.
could it have been a fluke? or is there something that changed while i was on the phone?
I had constant moms problems with family/clients using iPhones with imessage enabled
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using XDA
If you turn off DATA or momentarily don't have data on; MMS will stick at "downloading...."
you have to disable "Auto Retrive" in Messaging settings then attempt to download the MMS again.
hm if android receives android, I bother it is the problem of your phone.
What you should do is a simple delete and install from the market, to start again.
If nothing changes, I should throw you girlfriends iPhone in a lake and take care she will get an SGS2
Any solution?
Hi all,
Has there been any sign of a solution for this issue yet? I just rooted my GS2 LTE and can not seem to send or receive MMS to anyone at all. I do not want to download any other aps to do it for me, I just want to figure this out. I've also read a lot about changing APNs, any ideas on that?
Thanks in advance.
Guys how can you expect any help if you don't include a carrier in your post?
I know that for rogers when I flash a new rom I have about 4-5 APNs in my list. I actually have to remove one labeled MMS from the bottom of the list and leave the one that is marked as LTE. Then after a reboot I can get MMS no problem. BTW GoSMS does do MMS, I used to use it but have since been using the stock SMS/MMS app.

Sorry, it was late at night/ early in the morning. Thought I included he fact that I was with Rogers. I also have a few APNs. I've played around with a few of them and now I seem to sometimes be sending pictures. It's entirely inconsistent and still takes over 5 minutes to send on the rare occasions it decides to.

I may have found the solution to my issue. I deleted all APNs and made one Rogers APN to act as all of them. I used the instructions I found on a website which I am apparently too new to link to. So far I have managed to send and receive picture texts to myself 100% of the time within a reasonable timeframe. I will be back if that changes when I message other people. Thank you all again for your help.

Thought I had it working. Sent a picture to someone besides myself today and it took over an hour and a half to arrive...

[SPRINT] Can't send MMS

Posted in Networking as that seemed more appropriate, but I couldn't find a delete button, so if a mod could take care of this..
Thank you!
The issue has been happening to me recently (as well as my girlfriend, also on Sprint) that we cannot send MMS messages.
My phone is an Epic 4g Touch on AOKP and rooted, hers is a Nexus S 4g running stock.
No idea what is causing the issue, but whenever we try to send an MMS to someone it just sits there saying "Sending..." until it possibly errors out.

Cricket is having similar issues and they roam on sprint. I wonder if sprint also uses cricket towers.

Some roms there stock sms/mms sucks and you can't send pictures or receive them. You have.to use another messenger like go sms is perfect. I'm using chomp sms, handscent...try one of those & report back
