ok first things first, i am sorry if started a thread that already exists for my query, but i tried my best looking for the answer to my question but didnt get it here on xda...hence the new thread.
Now, lets get down to business, i have a SGS i9003 with gingerbread 2.3.6 DDKP4, and superoneclick just wont root my device can anyone help here?
Also, i am a complete noob when it comes to rooting / modding / flashing ..so please bear with me, in-fact i would appreciate if the seniors could please guide me to a thread where i can learn about them all (wrt my device)

Use universal cf root by amit.bagaria.. It is for every gingerbread firmware.
You will find the thread in the android development section.
Just follow the instructions and ur device is rooted.

There are many custom roms available in the development thread.
And deodexing; it is simple.. The .apk are stored in our device with a .odex file too and it cant be modified.
But after deodexing!! You can apply themes, and other stuff mod. Is possiple.
To deodex use .zip files by ganeshbiyer in the development thread!!

how do i apply themes ? i have downloaded one from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1405555&page=7 so do i install it just like any other app ? how do i go back to the stock theme afterwards ?
Also, PLEASE tell me how do i flash ROM's ?

First thing is it should be compatible with ur firmware!!
If yes then flash it using CWM as flash zip from sd card..
To revert back you should make a backup using CWM!

Miui is not rom specific!!!
You can flash XXKPQ then flash MIUI!.
Its not like you can only install it on 1 rom, it itself is a rom which when flashed removes old rom.
Ypu can flash MIUI if you want...

I mean to say that you can have MIUI in ur i9003!!!!
Just think of MIUI as another firmware(we call it rom)
You can flash it in CWM
Just download MIUI put it in ur external sd go to CWM flash it as a zip and you are done...
No need to flash xxkpq or anything else
And pls do read that at the moment some things do not work in MIUI(you can read it in the first post of MIUI) so do not ask about them as those queries will not be entertained

Your post title is misleading Edit the post title to DDKP3 which is the latest,
the pda version determines the gingerbread version which is ddkp3 only there is no ddkp4 pda as of now.
Your post when googled will show wrong info thus misleading 1000s of people who will keep on searching for DDKP4.

I am on ddkp3 i have download vurrut kernel v2 and JP MIUI V8.5, am i ready to go now ?
i am currently on a custom rom with amit bagaria CF root and deodexed (thanks to rohan !)

Yes you need data wipe and dalvik wipe. Updating miui just wipe cache. U juz nid cf root. Pls learn to read and search in the appropriate threads before asking

Just make a backup using CWM.(recommended)
And if you need apps to be restored then make backup using titanium backup.
And then you r ready to go!
Just factory reset,wipe catche,dalvik catche,battery stats.
Then go to recovery and flash as install zip from sd card.
No need to flash vurrut kernel as it is included in v8.5!!!

For restoring apps:
again install titanium backup.
And then u will be able to restore!!

For reverting back to stock;
Flash uc kernel v9 and just restore the backup u made using CWM.

U need to flash the kernel you made the backup with and restore from there. Or just do a clean flash. No, no update.zip. Before I play around with my phone I do a lot of research beforehand. You should too.

The [OP] of the ROM you have selected,will have all the details about what is working,and what is not.

Hi,
It is unlikely that you will damage your phone by flashing a ROM.
The worst that can happen,is you will get an error.
So,flash away to your heart's content.

If you installed CWM recovery you need to flash "boot.img" after you flashed the rom you have chosen. (you can get this file out from the ZIP file. I think it's in the Kernel folder) Or if you installed the 4EXT recovery, under the settings enable "smartflash" before installing the rom. That will do the job for you! Have a look in this thread as well: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1631861

where you on 2.20 when you rooted ? what command did you execute while in fastboot ? did you try to fastboot flash your boot.img ??

did you attempt to flash a custom rom
in fastboot what is the version of your hboot ?
what happens when you try to reboot in recovery ??
It doesn't seem as if English is his best language be a little more gentle with him.... Now if you have the tegra one x you shouldn't be here your in the wrong forum and if that's true the reason I don't think it should of flashed correctly but that kernel is for ours.

It should be able to charge still I can't really help you I'm not familiar with the tegra one x....you should be well informed of what you're doing before you do stuff... You have the tegra one x right? It was a quad core?

when i put the charger it works direct in fastboot
now i relock it to use ruu
but the batry is low
hello friends, I just got my cherry mobile fuze 3 weeks ago. After installing fonts and reboot it, I got stuck on boot logo. Ive tried to boot on recovery and flash some rom, Ive got this message "Installation Aborted". Please help me to fix my problem sir :crying:
Sorry for you bro..... I think nobody is interested in helping you...... And you said that recovery or flashing rom not working.... Then taking your mobile to customer care is the only option.... Or wait may be someone can help you..

yes sir I can enter on my stock recovery mode.. Ive downloaded a compatible rom for my phone and placed it on sdcard but still, installation aborted.. Just want to ask if stock recovery is different from 'the recovery something application', maybe thats the reason why it was aborted.

yes sir I can enter on my stock recovery mode.. Ive downloaded a compatible rom for my phone and placed it on sdcard but still, installation aborted.. Just want to ask if stock recovery is different from 'the recovery something application', maybe thats the reason why it was aborted.

Factory reset will not solve this problem.. I suggest you to flash stock rom or any custom rom with pc..... Because with recovery sometimes flashing rom aborts...

Finally I have succeeded in porting this awesome ViperDNA ROM to our devices
It took me a couple of days but it was worth it
I have been using this rom as a DD for a month now in my HTC Butterfly x920e and so far it works great. It has a lot of great features I think you guys are gonna be very happy
ROM was tested on x920d, it booted and is running well :victory:

Requirement:
for x920e: To install this ROM on x920e you have to use my edited Kairi's TWRP 2.7.0.X recovery (DLXU recovery link).
I fixed offmode charging for x920e in Kairi's TWRP 2.7.0.X.
for x920d: To install this ROM on x920d you have to use Kairi's TWRP 2.7.0.X recovery (DLXUB1 recovery link).
Here is how to install ROM:
1. Download correct version of ROM for your device

2. Copy ROM.zip to device
3. Do a TWRP backup (system-data-boot-cache)
4. Do a Factory reset from TWRP (or wipe data-cache-system partitons manually)
5. Install ROM.zip file and follow instructions.
6. When instalation is finished (should read code:0), reboot device and wait 5-10 minutes for first boot
Voila - ViperDNA on your Butterfly !!! :victory:

S-OFF users just flash ROM and you are OK.
S-ON users have to flash boot.img manually via fastboot after flashing ROM.
Procedure for S-ON users:
1. Go into recovery and do a backup
2. Follow this guide on flashing boot.img from ROM.zip :LINK or this video guide :Video LINK
3. After that go into recovery, flash ROM.zip from there, reboot and wait for ROM to boot

No, Droid DNA is not x920e, and dont try to flash viperdna rom on x920e without these modifications because you can brick your device.
I ported this ROM to x920e only.

There is no reason for it not to work, i did almost the same thing as in x920e PORT and it works 100% on my phone. But I don't now if it will work on x920d because I dont have the HTC Butterfly x920d to test it on. So use it at your own risk...

Link is fine, just tried it myself. Maybe your Wifi is not working , or your internet connection is bad. Try alternative mirror, if the primary fails

Tried almost every mirror but not able to download the files :crying: Some of them got stuck at 50 % and some at 90%. What to do ?
Try again, your internet connection is not good. I downloaded it again, runs fine.
If doesnt work, go to one of your friends who has wifi and try to download from there.
For god sake..plz upload the files somewhere else..i have tried multiple times .

I said in the #1 post i cant upload viperdna files, only files needed for the port to work.
I tried three times again at a friends home wifi..same issue..seem i cant test the ROM..
You already have viper files and x920d files..then please make a zip and share.

I want to try your guide, but you did not mention about S-OFF/S-ON device.
Mine is S-ON with kairi's recovery already.
Do i just need to backup my original rom and install the ported result?
