[Q] How to use the internet of my motorola android on my mac? - General Questions and Answers

I am new on this, so I need your help on getting root access on my phone so I can use the internet on my mac....
Thanks

You're going to need to give more information. What phone do you have, for starters? Once you give that information, we can probably help you get root to use any of various internet sharing apps and/or flash a ROM with tethering ability enabled.

[Q] Evo root access through usb but not phone terminal???

so yes I am new as they come at this. I have read a lot online about anything I can find about the root process and what it does. I have an Evo 4g which I have rooted. I have root access through ADB however when I try to install software on the phone it says I don't have root access, also through terminal emulator I have access denied error messages on the phone. Any ideas or guidance would be greatly appreciated as I am running out of web reading I've already tapped out google for info. Thanks in advance.

[Q] Need Help - Samsung Galaxy Fit S5670

Hi All,
I am relatively a new user to Android and have recently bought my new Samsung Galaxy Fit mobile phone.
I have my Broadband connection for my PC and am able to make it as a wireless router. So my only job would be connect my phone to my PC's network.
But, I got to know about the limitations we have in Android phones with Ad-hoc networking and hence will have to tweak the settings, which first requires rooting into the phone.
So, what I am looking for is a way to root into my mobile and if available a complete reference on how to connect to any ad-hoc network that is available.
Thanks so much..! Any response is highly appreciated.

You could use an app such as the one attached. Download and install the attached file and try it. Hope it helps.
Thanks Theonew for your response, but unfortunately the Z4root doesn't seem to work.
I installed it and tried runnin the app, it runs for a while and then auto disappears. I assume that this should have worked but unfortunately when I type "su" in the Terminal it shows Permission denied again.
Little more help..

Try the other app uploaded in my previous post. If it still doesn't work, then go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682 and see if this works.
Hi Theonew,
Thanks for the link. I used SuperOneClick and it worked well.
Now, as I read in many articles I tried using a wpa_suppliant patch to detect the ad hoc networks but this does not seem to detetc any.
Can you please link me to any article if available

[Q] Removing or Locking Wifi Capabilities on Android

Hi guys,
My question is like this: is is possible to remove or password protect (i.e. locking) WiFi capabilities on an android device (rooted or not)?
I know this can be achieved through renaming a driver file, though I am not sure which one and one would need a rooted phone after all.
The best option is of course locking WiFi with a a password...
Please do not ask why, as it is a pain to explain...
~confuded
P.S. The user ha no idea if his phone is rooted or not, or how to access the rooted filesystem, or how to rename system files (or which ones).

About Ad-Hoc Networks (JoikuSpot)

Hi everyone!
Yes, I am a noob...
Infos:
I already know that every Android device needs a new "wpa_supplicant" file for connecting to Ad-Hoc Networks e.g. created by my Nokia's JoikuSpot or sth. else...
If there's another option, tell me
Also I've heard about this application:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.jrummy.root.browserfree
that supposedly can be installed on an unrooted device!
The question:
For me it doesn't make sense, that you can install an app which has access to all files without rooting the tablet at first.
Can I replace the wpa_supplicant without rooting and be happy with tethering 3G from my phone to the tablet?
AdHoc Networks are my only cause for rooting but it seems to be quite difficult, maybe no one did it already with the slate ... I can't find instructions to do it anyway...
Please HELP

[Completed] [Issue] Samsung Galaxy Core Prime SM-G360V - Mac Spoof/Change

Forenote: I believe I am in the correct forums section but If I am not, please redirect me. Thanks.
My phone is rooted. I have kingroot installed.
I am trying to spoof my mac address on my android for wifi. I have downloaded just about every app on the Playstore that has to do with automatic MAC spoofing/changing. I have gotten two apps to work. The app "MacSpoofer" (and another app I cannot remember) that have appeared to change my mac address, but when I try and use the internet I cannot connect to anything.
It says I have correctly spoofed my mac, and it displays two mac addresses; my original mac address, and then below it, it shows the new mac address that it has given me to use, but when I try to connect to the internet on the wifi it cannot connect to anything.
If anyone has a solution to my problem or another app I could use from the playstore that would work with my phone, or a guide I'd appreciate it.
Hi,
Here is the section for your device, http://forum.xda-developers.com/t/galaxy-core-prime
You could ask there for help. My guess though, is that since you rooted with kingroot, you still have a write protected system, and therefore can't accomplish this. Just a guess though, as I don't know about your specif device. The folks in the section above do though.
Maybe this could help too, http://www.xda-developers.com/spoof-your-mac-address-the-easy-way/
Good luck!
