Hey guys, I have been running Apex 9.3 for quite some time now with the KC1 modem. It has been the only modem I have ever used that gave me the correct sms time stamp without needing a third party app to correct it. Other roms always set the sms timestamps as 5 hours in the past. I want to give a captivate rom again however, I am having trouble finding a modem that will do this. Anyone know of a modem that I should try?
BTW, I am in Canada on the Fido network and in mountain time if that makes a difference.
Thanks

Hey everyone, just wanted to say that even though I have very little posts here, I have been following this forum for a long time now and I have gotten a lot of great info from everyone on XDA. Finally started to contribute now that I am getting more and more knowledge of the devices.
I couldn't seem to find a post on this so I thought I would post it...
I use Handcent for text messages, and since the majority of my friends use Verizon, I have "delivery reports" enabled so I can see if they do get delivered. Recently, starting last night and today whenever I sent a text it would stay in the pending phase for a very very long time and sometimes took a reboot or another text message sent to have them go through. Odd thing is, I can make phone calls or do anything else that requires data service. Past 2 hours or so it has been fine but since then I have flashed to a different radio. I am using the leaked radio, but the New CDMA/Old LTE combo.
Here are some things that may be useful:
ROM: Vanilla Bean 1.2
Baseband Radio: 1.16.00.0402w_1 (New CDMA/Old LTE - Radio Posted in Vanilla Bean Thread)
Kernal: 2.6.32.21_bamf_4.3a
Software: 1.13.605.7
Has anyone else experienced something like this? I tried the leaked radio with new CDMA and LTE but since I don't get 4G in my area yet, it caused more issues of signal going in and out constantly.
Hey guys this is just a quick opinion question. Which modem for the Infuse do you guys like best? I'm having trouble picking the right one, so maybe you guys could help.
If you search the modem forum you'll see that the "best" modem is different for everyone, depending on your phone, your area, etc. Best thing to do is flash em, try em for a few days and see which one works for u. I actually have 6 different modems saved to my phone and flash a different one if I'm not getting great reception with the current one. Hope that helps!

The right Modem
thanks guys I have been having the same issue. I have downloaded all of them now on my phone so I think I will just continue to try different ones until one is the best. Question??? Wouldn't the latest version be the best? also, does installing and uninstalling "flashing" these phones cause damage to the drive?
thanks

Not necessarily. I got the 4 hours clock moving ahead bug in all KH and KJ2 onwards. Setting time manually is an option, but I prefer auto update of time. KI3 gave me proper balance between connectivity, speeds and battery usage.
Flashed the doctorz rom., I believe its ucki3, pulled 10.5 down... best yet out of all other modems (on different roms)

What is the modem, just the thing that picks up reception

I would also like to know, does it affect wifi?
I am having 2 separate wifi problems on CM7 UCKJ4
1. At school, it works sometimes (maybe less than half the time), the rest of the time the wifi icon in the status bar is greyed out and doesnt work,
2. At home, it will not connect to wifi at all. When I go to wifi settings, it says "scanning.... connecting... disconnected" and repeats.
I dont about flashing my.modem roms.anymore. The last one i did.screwed up the time and i couldnt send out text messages. So far i really dont see much of a difference in connection speeds. I still think the newest modem flash for your os should be the best but i am still a noob at android system.

+1 KI3 has given me decent speeds and been reliable.
KJ2 gave me the best data speeds but MMS has the character sending limit and constantly switched between 3G and H+
I'm running Infused v2.2.3 and have been on KJ4 for several days now. I don't know if it's related but my battery life has greatly improved. Took auto time update off and don't mind the 160 character text issue if I've gained battery life.

I am also having problems with the wifi. The only way I get a good reception to it is if I have phone right next to the router. There has been many forums on here about the wifi...its def a hardware issue with the phone. At this time I dont think anyone has found a fix for it yet. The talk about updating your router is not true.
Does anyone know if theres bug in ics for rogers users where incoming texts are timestamped 4 hours earlier?
Download the app SMS Time Fixer, free in the market place, works everytime, I used it on all of my unlocked phones which gave me this problem.

It's been a "known issue" for some Rogers phones for a long time... regardless of Android version actually. It does seem to be ROM dependant but I haven't discovered what exactly causes it... it has something to do with the way Rogers sends the timestamp. Across a few different Samsung phones my experience has been... I had the problem on stock Eclair and used "SMS Timefix" to correct, then an update to the ROM fixed it and it was OK, then Froyo brought it back, and I used timefix again, then I flashed Darkky and it was gone, then I bumped to the SGSII LTE and it was OK with the stock ROM but back to timefix on every flashed ROM I used... When it's broken it seems to just treat your phone as if it's in Grenwich Mean Time regardless of what your timezone settings are (your offset will be the exact opposite of your actual timezone).
Sadly I've been unsuccessful at getting an ICS ROM working on my phone, so I'm back to running stock Rogers GB one and the stamps are correctly interpreted.
Oh DISCLAIMER... I have nothing whatsoever to do with the app other than being a user whenever I have a ROM that suddenly makes my phone think I'm sitting on the International Date Line.
I understand there are some other international carriers who's timestamps seem to function the same... SMS Timefix is a kludge but it works perfectly when there's a disconnect between the received timestamp and the actual time. I know following an SMS conversation is REALLY difficult when the other party seems to be texting from hours in the past (or future depending on where you are).
hi everyone
i've searched around google and this forum and haven't found any fixes for this issue that i'm having.
starting this morning, it seems my text messaages are all out of order. the time stamp on my text message is fine and shows the current time but when i receive a reply, it's 5 hours ahead. so when i go to reply to that message, it will display on top instead of in proper chronological order.
i'm pretty confident that it's not because the cell tower time is messed up because this happens for messages received from people in different geographic locations. also it happened to me while i was at another location more than 50kms away (home and work).
i've tried disabling the auto time and timezone, changing the time and timezone and then enabling the auto update but it's still happening.
i'm using the leaked stock touchwiz jellybean so i've flashed from the uxlf3 radio to the uclf6 radio and now i'm using the uclk4 radio thinking that might have something to do with it. but nope. i've wiped the device and re-flashed the CM10 stable rom, same issue. i've switched back to uxlf3 and flashed embryo 5.4, same issue. i'm at a loss.
i'm using fido lte and my apn is set to ltemobile.apn and my signal strength is good.
please help. :good:
Well it was as simple as pulling out the battery for 30 secs then reseat it and power on. That fixed it.
k.i.s.s.
looks like it wasn't the battery pull after all.. it was definitely the UCLK4 radio that was causing it because the problem came back. as soon as i switched to the stock rogers ics, problem went away and hasn't come back since this morning (12 hrs ago)
I was wrong... I was fine since last week and I know exactly what caused the issue. Goddamn speed test app. I just did the speed test after not doing it since last week and boom... mms ****ed up timestamps again.
Sometimes I wish I wasn't so damn curious.

Hello xda! My phone has been acting up and receiving txts when it wants to. My phone is set up to a specific vibrating pattern and when it goes off theres no message at times. I'll then text whoever I was msging to resend and I'll get double txt plus anything else they sent prior. I've had multiple ppl say theyve called or txt and got no response (this is my personal work phone as well).. currently im on remics 1.2-hefe Kod b3 - kg4 tried doing fresh install and same issues. Ive called T-Mobile and they said I'm able to upgrade to 4g SIM, currently using 3g. Maybe that will help? Anyone else have similar issues or have a possible fix? I'd appreciate it!

Usually weird texting issues are due to sim cards. I think they're free too so it can't hurt to try

+1 they are free and getting a new one every yr or when changing phones is actually recommend by T-Mobile.
Ty for the replies, I'll do that over the weekend. I think I solved the issue- I pushed the mms.apk from ics 1.2, was using a modified mms (dark blue I think). It's not much on the eyes, but so far no issues.
