[How To] Flash a new Splash image with Latest FW - HTC Sensation

Hello all,
Since having the new FW that is needed to have ICS on our phones the usual method of flashing Splash images has been lost,
well after a bit of testing Eisteh, Lizard and I from the AndroidRevolution IRC channel have found a way to still flash the beloved splash images,
Ok so it is quite simple,
Go get the fw package from the bottom of http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21132762&postcount=41583
direct link: http://goo.gl/kPfB0
once you have it, open it with winrar or even windows archive folders, note i said open do not extract,
delete everything accept Android-info text file
now copy your chosen Splash image into the file ensuring its named splash1.img
close the file,
copy the now modified PD58IMG.zip onto the root of your memory card,
and reboot your phone into the bootloader.
the bootloader should pick up the file and flash the splash image for you.
thats it.
heres an example of it working ..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2W4yQbwG5Ko
A quick guide and method to create your Splash image,
download the attached file and unpack it to somewhere easy to find
Create a bitmap with the dimensions 540x960
and name it SPLASH.BMP
put it with the unpacked files,
double click the RUN THIS ONE batch file,
and you splash1.img will be created
then copy into your prepared zip file
View attachment Splash-Screen-Creator-Sensation.zip
Hope this helps you all, Till the next time
Technane
PS Thanks : From AndroidRevolution Eisteh, Lizard, Evil Dragon,
For the Massive CID PD58img.zip making this easier Kohr-Ah
for the initial work on the FW mike-1986, and for his continued work on the ARHD rom
for the Batch file VibrantOwnr
and for NBIMG Pau Oliva

Thank you very much.
This is great.
I will try this out when I get home tonight.

I have updated my original post, please take a look

heres the splash image i used and as featured in the guide,
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",

"lightbox_new_window": "New window",

my workaround was to flash the eng hboot, and after flashing the splash revert to recent hboot. But this might save some time

i can't delete the files in winrar.
how can i fix that???

If you are on windows just use windows compressed folders to open the file, or alternatively use 7zip i used windows i was told it worked in winrar but i havent tested it myself,
If you have issues you could post your wanted image and i could create the zip for you. I will test with winrar now and edit the guide accordingly thanks for the info
ok tested it myself, Zip open in Winrar. Right click ..... Delete ..... Works for me
using this:WinRAR x64 (64 bit) 4.10 beta 5

I got it working with compressed files to delete those files.
The next problem is that i the batch file won't create the img file.
Maybe that you can solve it for me.
i give you 2 pics. Maybe you can make both for me.

U realise both those images aren't 540*960 right?
and both JPG?
Well anyway ,,,
I upscaled them a bit so they might look a bit stretched.
here u go... just remember to rename the files before you try and flash them or it wont work.

THX, i will try them now.
I had those images from the splashscreen forum here and there i downloaded theme as the right file and the right size.
Only problem was that i could't upload them here in the post because of the size.
Thats why i posted them at those size and format.
This is where i found the original with the zip that they were in.

thx
maybe you can make them also so that i have beter quality of it.
thx anyways
Edit:
those 2 worked great.
Didn't saw much of the stretching.
I'm happy now man.
Now to find out to do it myself

Well the file he says hes attached in that post, he says he has included the .img files, all you needed to do was take the .img files rename them to splash1.img then copy them into the zip, and thats it done, glad your all up and running though please can you poke the thanks button

ok thx.
maybe you know the answer on this one.
Why doesn't it wanna change from bmp to img?
when i press option 1 and after it any key nothing changes.
That's the only bump on the road.

Dude, you are way overthinking this.
I made those 2 splash screens. Look at the bottom of the post you found them in. There is aszip file that has the converted img files.
They are ready to go!

BootFlash Pro on the market makes this process simple. I've used from 2.3.4 thru 4.0.3 and it works flawlessly. Free version on the market works fine too.

Didnt see the free version on the market, only the paid-for app. And it said that the free version puts a watermark on it.

The key is to start with the background image when you're designing these. Have it already set up to the right size. Then just add elements and you don't have to worry about distorting anything later to make it fit.
That Bootflash app looks neat. Since it uses a data connection it obviously uses a server to change the file from a bmp or whatever into a proper img file. That's pretty cool!
And if it works on the new firmware, then I'm betting my terminal flashing method still works also. But for $0.99....can you really go wrong?

ROM Kitchen registry problem

I have been currently making another ROM kitchen to use but I have gotten stuck. When trying to use BuildOS create the new dump, I always get an error creating registry with a dialog that says "The system cannot find the file specified."
I dumped the ROM with Tadzio's revised IMGFS tools and used PackageTool to create the OEM and SYS folders.
Where are the default.hv and user.hv files located?
Any suggestions?

Does the error say anything else? Usually this indicates an error in one of your packages (possibly a syntax error in a .rgu file). Try disabling some packages in the OEM folder (either uncheck them in buildos.exe or move them out of the OEM folder to some holding folder) and see if it will run to completion. If it does, then move them back one at a time to find the offending package. Then go look at the .rgu file.
Also verify the files are saved in Unicode (.rgu, initflashfiles.txt) as that can cause issues too.
OK. I tried to fix this by unchecking all of the OEM packages. I still got the error. It shows the same error. On the status bar it says, "Error, last status: "Creating Registry..."". I then get the dialog mentioned before. When I do the same thing through Anichillus's kitchen, it works perfectly with the same OEM and SYS folders.
Is there something wrong that I'm doing in the dump procedure that could affect this?
Thanks

Ahhh... I had a similar issue with the Faria Kitchen rom and trying to move it to other kitchens. There seems to be slight variations in buildos.exe. Never figured out exactly what it was... You can just take the buildos.exe from Core Kitchen and move it to the one you are using now (that gets the errors) and it will work. I think it has to do with where it expects to find certain files, but from what I could tell they all work exactly the same.
Just tried that too. Got the same error. I don't remember, but I think I had already gotten the BuildOS from the Core Kitchen. Sorry, but do you know of any other versions that work? Or if it isn't to much trouble, do you think you could attach the version you are using?
Could you tell me if this process is correct or if there is something in this that is causing the problem?
1. Split the Rom with typho5
2. Split the nb with ImgfsFromNb or prepare_imgfs
3. Dump from bin using ImgfsToDump or viewimgfs
4. Use PKGTool and make packages
5. After adding/removing packages, use BuildOS to recreate ROM
6. use BuildImgfs to recreate the bin file
7. use make_imgfs to recreate OS file
Thanks for your time

I use the Core Kitchen and the scripts in the Extract and Panel folders there to break apart and build roms (its basically all setup and scripted that way).
Try extracting and rebuilding with Core Kitchen and see if that works (I know you said the build works with Core Kitchen). Is there a reason for this other kitchen tools you are trying to use (something newer/better)? Just curious.
While most of the kitchen tools are basically the same, there are some slight variations, and aparently something with this rom or kitchen doesn't quite mesh up...
OK. I will try that. Thank you for the suggestions. If it doesn't work, I'll let you know

I'm not too sure what you mean by this question, but if you are asking why I'm making another kitchen, it is so that cookers can build their own roms from a GUI without having to worry about putting things in certain folders.

The only thing not working right now is the rebuilding of the OS.
Nice and well done! Interested to see this in action...
I will say that while I like most everything about Core Kitchen, one thing I don't care for is the scripts all assume everything is on your SystemFolder drive (C:\) and assume top level folder names. I'm going to look at modifying this so its generic (like most other kitchens) just haven't had the time to do it yet.
So I guess what I'm saying is, if you build this project, don't hardcode the location of the kitchen
BuildOS needs some files in same folder with it in order to work if i remember corectly. Maybe you missed that.
I wonder though...Are you sure you completely understand the big scheme ?
I mean ... you are trying to build a kitchen not knowing all the steps necessary to do that. Maybe you should collaborate with someone. I don't want to have a wave of bricked wizards around here. Again...your choice...and...btw i wanted to do that for some time also so you would save me the work.
The Wizard ROM doesn't use the SPLIT option. If you use typhoon decode.
Don't worry mfrazzz , i will redo my kitchen. Today was my last exam, and as i promised i will get on with it
Sorry it took me some time to reply, I was busy with something else
@anichillus:
i guess it would be a VERY good idea to collaborate on this. I have been trying to build a kitchen based on the way yours and Molski's works. Or, I could give you the source code if you want. It's in VB, but I haven't put a single comment in the whole thing.

Oops! I probably should change that then. Right now, it's all hardcoded to a folder "C:\Autosculpt"
Btw I named it Autosculpt from the customization of a car's parts in the game Need For Speed Carbon. Just thought you would like to know.
Also, with the progress bars, don't take any notice of them, they are time based and automatically go to 100% when the certain task is done.
I have attached the current build of my program and kitchen. See what problems you can find. I have been doing this from a computer on which typho5 doesn't work so I have only tested it twice on a different computer.
Also, don't worry about the splash screen tool makers. They don't do anything just yet as I haven't added code for them.
Make sure that the directory of the Kitchen is C:\Autosculpt!
Once again, please tell me if you want the source code. If you want to use it, you will need Microsoft Visual Basic 2005 Express Edition which you can get as a free download from microsoft. If you can turn this into something successful, you don't need to give me credit for the original. I just did because I was bored and I had to anyways learn a few programming languages so for a class I will be taking.
good work,
im interested in sorce code if u dont mind.
Please wait till about 12:30. I have summer school and can't upload it now
Here is the link:
ftp://xdaupload:[email protected]/Upload/testapp.zip
Place the folder testapp projects folder in the Visual Studio 2005 folder in My Documents. Then you can just open up the project file from Microsoft Visual Basic Express Edition.
Be warned: I haven't placed a single comment in the program. If you want I can send one with the comments later today. I can't do it immediately as I have to go and practice tennis with my friend.
Also, as mentioned before, I haven't put the code to activate the splash tools yet. I asked the-equinoxe about them yesterday and will be implementing them later today.
Now have gotten a little further with this. I still haven't made any effort to fix the registry problem.
Changes to kitchen:
Added Splash editing support
Added G4 flashing support (not that this will do any good until I fix the registry problem)
Note: progress bar has not been binded to any running of an application at this time. Instead, you will get a dialog box telling you when a certain process is done.
If anyone has looked at the kitchen, do you think you can figure out what is going wrong with the registry.
Updated source code is posted on ftp server at the same link
Here is the link to the updated kitchen: ftp://xdaupload:[email protected]\Upload\Autosculpt.rar
make "temp" folder in kitchen folder.....if i understood your prob correctly....

[TUTORIAL]How to unpack/repack .apk files

Hey guys!
I've made another tutorial. This one is about unpacking and repacking .apk files. This tutorial was made for people who don't want to mess with Command Prompt, or for those who want to do it in graphical user interface.
-------------------------------------------------
Requirements:
-An archive manager, such as WinZip, WinRar, or Power Archiver, that is capable of extracting and making .rar archives
-Formatter (it's a program made by me) - click here to download it. Mirror: http://www.mediafire.com/?5a74bjg475er75d
-------------------------------------------------
Tutorial:
Just follow the steps and you will learn how to unpack/repack .apk file in no time!
How to unpack .apk files:
1. Open Formatter (I assume you already have it downloaded and installed on your computter)
2. Click the "Choose File" button and choose your apk file. Then, in the first text box, enter ".rar" (without quotes). After that, enter your desired name for your .rar archive and click the big "Rename!" button
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
3. Go to the folder where your .apk file was. You should see a .rar archive, named by the name you entered in Formatter. Extract it with your archive manager
How to repack .apk files:
1. Compress the extracted files in a .rar archive (compress them normally like any other archive)
2. Open Formatter
3. Choose the .rar archive you made a minute ago
4. Set the format to .apk
5. Set the name to whatever you want
6. Click the big "Rename!" button
-------------------------------------------------
Mac OS X users: follow this tutorial (special thanks to daisun):
daisun said:
For those still interested in editing apks on OS X without unpacking and hence without resigning I have found something that works!
muCommander! Just rename the .apk to .zip and browse it using muCommander just like you would using WinRar! Just tested it, I was able to add and remove files without resigning. The modified apk installed on my phone without a problem!
As for editing xml values you can simply copy the xml file out and edit it using your favourite editor and then copy them back in.
Hope I was able to help some OS X users.
/edit By the way, this method (WinRar or muCommander) also works for editing update.zip. This means you can customise the rom (add/remove system apks, change the boot animation etc) before you flash it.

I'm glad you found this tutorial useful.
Why to use special application just to change an extension of some apk file? I think it's much easier to:
Choose to open all *.apk files with archive tool. Then set "apk" as extension of output file when compressing.
or disable "hide extension of known files" feature in Windows and change file extensions normally - by renaming them.
Also does above tutorial really work? I mean .apk files are zip archives, not rar and I doubt Android can open rar archives.

Erm, no offense, but this is a bit dim.
You don't need any special programs to check out what's going in an apk. In fact, you don't even need to rename the apk, you can just open the apk using WinRAR or 7Zip, both will handle it just fine.
If you really need renaming, just uncheck "Hide known extensions" in the Explorer options.
This is just a really convoluted and ultimately uneccessary way of doing this.

:X You knew how to build a program that had to do with file extensions but you didn't know about hiding known extensions? It's been around since XP (at least), man.
I'm sorry, I'm not trying to antagonize you. It's a decent effort, I just think it's a bit overkill. Might be a good idea to paint the tutorial in a different way, such as "If you don't want all your extensions showing all the time (which is what the "hide extensions" option would do if disabled), use my guide for those one-off times where you need to rename them".

You open it with WinRAR, edit, and then repackage by saving the archive, and change the .zip to .apk when you do (if it asks).
What is the advantage of doing this over using the terrific program APK Edit created by Anoniem100?

I had a few Requests to make a keyboard that resembles the Windows 7 Phone onscreen keyboard.
This keyboard Will skin every layout in your phone. (Stock htc keyboard only)
It will also require an aditional step other then just installing the cab, as the cab will only skin the layouts, it will not change the letters to white as seen in the screen shots..
You will need to download the file in the second post and follow all of the directions there to be able to have white letters.
If you wish to remove this cab, you will need to follow the steps again but with the other file to return your font to black.

THIS HAS A POTENCIAL OF MESSING UP YOUR PHONE. INSTALL AT YOUR OWN RISK
Here are the steps you need to follow inorder to get the text on your keyboard white rather then stock black.
Follow thees instructions exactly...
1
First, download the "White ezinputs.zip" at the bottom of this post.
Extract the folder inside of it and place it somewhere on your storage card.
2
Using total commander, navagate to that folder and click it.
Now, open the folder to see the file inside. (the file name should be 'ezinput.dll')
Now click right click it and hit 'Properties'
Uncheck all the boxes under attributes.
(just click on the check mark, and if you have to, click it again if it goes gray rather then dissapearing)
Click ok at the botom of your screen.
3
Now go to your windows directory.
Find the ezinputs.dll in your windows directory and do the same thing.
Hit ok when done
***If your ezinput.dll file in your \windows directory has the 'in ROM' box checked under the sttributes, then you can skip steps 4 and 7***
4
Rename the file in your directory to 'ezinputs2.dll'
5
Go back to the file on your sdcard and right click it and select 'copy/move'
then on the next window you have 4 choices
copy
move
tree
cancel
Select 'tree', then click on 'windows' (it should be the last item on that list of folders)
After that, it will go back to the window with the 4 choices mensioned above.
Select 'copy'
It might take a min to do this, just wait.
6
Once its finished there, soft reset.
After its started up, your keys should be white.
7
Go back into your windows directory and delete the 'ezinputs2.dll' file.
8
Reset again just to be safe.
That should take care of it.
If you want to return to black text, repeat thees instuctions with the black ezinputs zip. and dont skip any steps
Reserved for future use

Files are up on post 2
It is technically possible.. Dinik did it by using another cab to overright the phones auto rejection response to an outside system file, such as the ezinput.dll file.
The problem with that is, you cant make the cab with the ezinput in it certified to be installed without that other cab.
You would just get a failure to install.
(sound familiar?)
It also cant be removed with out that other cab.
Also... you cant remove that other cab at all, you get an error from the phone saying it wasnt compleatly removed.
(go figure)
And if you just uninstall the cab, it wont remove the white text
You would be stuck with white text on your stock keyboard, or any other keyboard you try no matter what you did unless you follow my instructions.
So I think its better this way so that people can go back and forth and have an easily install/uninstall cab

you cant change that box.
But you should still be able to rename it.
I was able to even though the 'inRom' box was checked.
That simply means that if anything happens to that file, it can pull it from the rom and return it to normal.
But it doesnt work in my experience.

OK, I figured it out.
I just formatted my phone and tried it and your right.
The name wont change, but no worries, that just means that the stock file is in your phone still. Thats a good thing.
It makes the process a bit eisier actually.
You just have uncheck the attributes for the file in your storage card, and then copy it to your \windows directory and then soft reset your phone.
Thats it
I revised the instructions if you want to take a look at it again.
Only after that stock file has been tampered with will my original guide work.
I had originally made that guide for someone who had used diniks anastasia keyboard and he was stuck with white text over my other keyboard skin and he asked if there was a way to fix it.
So the guide was written for people who already had white text, so the file was already tampered with and not stock, wich is why it had to be done that way
Sorry about that.

It wouldnt be to hard to make a white one from here. Id just have to invert the images.
But theres some areas that the text is already white, like the page up and down areas that I cant change so they will be the same color as the keys under them unfortunatly.
Other then that, 6.5 and 6.5.x doesnt have a designated smily key so I dont have to worry about that.
Good **** bro!! I for one am glad to see all the progress your making!! Keep up the great work.. Oh and CONGRATS on making the front page portal again!!

i'm stuck on .bin for now, we need to find correct offset to create system.img
If i don't mistake p920 offset was from 00B80000 to 22ABFFF0
anyone can help us?
For the v20B .bin, the system.img file block was from B80000 all the way to the end of the .bin file. The end block depends on the size of the firmware and as such varies with different firmwares.
Maybe you could dd it in Ubuntu and inject the image into a normal p920 bin??

What I did for the v20B bin was to copy the blocks 00B80000 to the end block and paste them in a new file using Winhex, rename it to system.img, go over to linux and use
sudo mkdir temp
sudo mount -o loop system.img temp

That way, I can then extract all the files using Terminal, like for example sudo cp system/app/LGHome.apk LGHome.apk (assuming default folder is pointed at desktop) to extract everything.

No need. System.img extends from 00B80000 all the way to the end of the file. The end block of the .bin file is also the end block of the system.img file.
I tried that but i get: "you must specify the filesystem type" in terminal when i try to mount. Is 00B80000 start? Can you take a look at that? Or bin is not extracted ok.
I don't have the download link... post it here and I'll take a look when I have time, I'm lazy to look for it

My WinHex isn't working for some reason, will debug it tomorrow. In the meantime, try looking for the EXT4 magic number 0xF30A (0A F3 in hex) or 13 00 00 00 which is the compatibility structure between ext3 and ext4. The last file with any of these should be system.img.
If not, try the site here and see if it helps you find the start of the img files.
Well guys im really cheering that you can port that to O3D. Sadly im totally dont know how to do the port therefore i cant help to you, but i wish i could.
Go ahead you will make many ppl really happy if you can success (including me -> my genitalia will be the biggest ever xD)
I might have a hit. Winhex is still broken but someone with a working version of it could help me out with it.
154F2EFB seems to be the starting block if I'm interpreting it correctly. Could someone copy from that offset onwards all the way to the end, save it as an img and see if it mounts fine in Linux? This is a semi-wild guess since 0AF3 in hex brings up 5.3k hits while the text based search brings up 154F2EFB as the only hit which strikes me as odd but we'll see. The file size is approximately 300MB which is about right.

Have you actually read this thread? You would know that we're stuck on the final step of extracting system.img if you did.
only thing that is manage to extract are .png files, there are some interesting icons like cube I did it with win hex. It have options too extract known file tipes. It can also extract zip files and it extract parts off apps with it. If we could know header and footer of apk file it could extract them too. I tried but with no succes, I get only parts of apks. I attached 4 icons:

Changing boot logo (logo.bin) program

Hi all!
I've created a little program, It can make new logo.bin with recovery update.zip for Mediatek based phones.
1) LogoBuilder
Program page
Update 11.03.2015 (version 1.6)
1) Added 32bit color depth support (MTK67xx platform)
2) Enchanced image size autodetect algorithm
3) Transited to .NET Framework 4.0.
Update 17.05.2014 (version 1.5.1)
1) Added vertical scrollbar in main window;
2) Double click on image opens it in default program;
3) Added full path edit in folder browser dialog.
Update 04.05.2014 (version 1.5)
1) Fixed bug with ignoring unknown blocks;
2) New image size changing dialog (now you can just scroll mouse wheel to get your image). So that awful dialog with three buttons is deprecated;
3) Now you can edit single image size right in created project;
4) Added new sizes to Sizes.txt (but who cares now, in consideration of second paragraph);
5) Added supportedRuntime. Now program can start in any .NET Framework veresion (starting from 2.0);
6) Added Portuguese (thanks to Typhus_).
7) Added Italian (thanks to bovirus (bovirusatgmailcom))
How to use:
1) Click "Create project".
2) Select your original logo.bin file and new project folder
3) Edit project images as you wish.
4) Click "Make" (new logo.bin and update.zip for recovery will be created)
5) Flash new logo.bin via any flashing tool or update.zip via recovery.
Where can I get logo.bin?
I know at least two ways to find your logo.bin.
1) The first and the easiest one is to get it from original flashtool firmware.

2) LogoBuilder UNPACKED
One more LogoBuilder program feature (kind of beta version)...
I've received a logo.bin file (from Freelander PD10), that has some different format. Its images are not packed at all. So here is the "Unpacked" version of LogoBuilder.
It does not make Update.zip and has only English language.
-------------
3) Gif2Bootanimation
One more little program. It can make bootanimation.zip file from a GIF file.
Working
Hello ankadnikov,
thanks alot my friend for taking the time to develop this tool.. amazing job for the Unpack-er logobuilder version.
I confirm that it's working. the: LogoBuilder_Unpacked.zip is the one working to extract the 4 images out of the .Bin file format, but it doesn't work with the .Img file format, don't know what's wrong there with the .img format..!
also the Unpacked version would make back a logo.bin file which I assume would create a new logo.bin out of the new images u would replace in case u would change the logo images inside the original file, so once replaced u can click on MAKE and it'll create the: logo.bin file so later on u can flash it to your PD10.
as for the: LogoBuilder_v1.1.zip, well I havent tried it yet as I was out and just came home now and about to go get some sleep and will try it in the morning or afternoon.
here is a Picture for the Unpacked version of the logo builder with 4 images extracted:
will try to add more info later on when I try to replace the images and when I try to flash it to the PD10 .. couldn't just go to sleep without coming to try and to say: Thank you Kadan. :good:

I saw your .img file. It's corrupted. Take into account, .img file size must be bigger than .bin file size.
Hello,
well I got this .img file from a full backup of my tablet... and yes.. maybe it's corrupted or something.
so far I'm trying to flash it to my tablet with SP Flash tool but no luck yet... I'm trying different methods and when I'm done I was planing on comeing here to confirm again..
still trying
hi again,
something wrong with the logo.bin after flashing it to the tablet...
when I started up the tablet after successful flashing I got the first image with lots of distortion u cant see nothing but lines and dots widely.
it got corrupted for some reason while if I unpacked it again I see nice images.
so anyways... after booting and the first image with lots distortion it loaded back the original logo..
I'll try adjusting the resolution maybe this is why...
I used 1024x600 which is my tablet's res. but I dont know... will keep trying..
be back in a few...
::EDIT::
I'm back now, and I tried lots of things to make the new logo.bin installed and get the images I want but no luck so far..
I always get the first image Distorted so u dont see the picture or even could tell what is it suppose to be or look like!!! very distorted thing, then the original Freelander logo will appear.
I think that the Freelander Logo is inside the BOOT_LOGO file inside: /system/media/images
this is where I believe the Freelander logo has another place for itself...
my tablet resolution is 1024x600 supposed to be 16:9 so I'll try different res. later and see again.
or thanks to yuweng I'll get back to his tutorials in his Signature and see what I can do with Cygwin
I also thank him so much for testing with me some logo.bin files and other methods.. he's been a GREAT HELP.
so far I have no luck installing the edited logo.bin into my tablet but I'll keep trying anyways..
be back later...

Distorted? Hmm... It seems like resolution you need is 600x1024 instead of 1024x600 (btw, images from your corrupted logo.img are vertical, i.e. 600x1024, and in logo.bin they are horizontal, i.e. 1024x600). Try use tool this way and flash new logo.bin.

again distorted... not working...
what I do is that I open the PNG file in Pgotoshop and edit it. then again save it as PNG... do I need to save the PNG with a special settings or specifications?? cause after all I guess this is maybe the only thing I need to ask about to try since I almost did everything and still not being able to have a working logo
also there's something weird... even when I change the first image which is FREELANDER... this one after changing it and gets distorted while in real tablet power on.. after the distorted image come then directly after it the FREELANDER logo will load!!!
where did this other freelander logo came from?? since I deleted the 1st image from the bin and replaced it with the one I want?
could it be possible that freelander logo has another place for their logo?
could it be the Boot_logo??
inside: \system\media\images
I sent you my boot_logo to check out..
thanks

You should go this way. Close the program. Open .project file from your project folder via notepad. It contains the next text:
1024
600
Now rearrange this lines. So you should get this:
600
1024
Than you should rotate all of your images by 90 degrees. Their size must be 600x1024 (vertical) instead of 1024x600(horizontal). ("Image->Image Rotation" in Photoshop).
After you did it, you can open this project in program (click "Open existing project"), make new logo.bin file and flash it to your device.
What about boot_logo. Yes, it could be boot_logo. File you gave me contains silver fleelander logo on a black background.
PS. If you distorted logo.bin is 600x1024 (vertical) make it 1024x600(horizontal). Just rearrange width and height.
what I did with the 600x1024 was that I openeded logobuilder unpacker then I created a new project, opened the logo.bin then when it asked me about the resolution I choose 600x1024 (so this is I guess the same as manually editing the project file in note pad)
and after I did that I got the same distortion image.
about the boot_logo... I mean that since the first image already changed and there is no more FREELANDER in the logo.bin then how come after the distorted image loads up I suddenly see FREELANDER back again as if I didnt change the logo.bin..... so I think that the boot_logo has the freelander image and that it's loading itself
this is what I mean by the boot_logo and maybe that I also need to edit it and also replace the freelander there with the image I want..
I'll try more and let you know..
thanks Kadan

This program does not edit boot_logo.
After you created project with 600x1024 resolution, you can see distorted images just the same as you flashed 1024x600 logo.bin to your device. Now replace this distorted images to images you want to see on your device and everything will be fine!

Kadan u dont understand...
I see the images just fine on my PC... the 1024x600 and the 600x1024 but once I flash either bin file to the tablet the first image which is the only image I always change always get distorted..
I dont change any other pictures... only the first image (freelander) thats the one..
no matter what I do I get it distortied... always distorted... either 1024x600 or 600x1024
if u want I can send you my edited logo.bin to try for yourself if u want.
I may need to know how to save a PNG file in a proper way like what there is inside the original logo.bin maybe something is wrong with how I save the PNG... but it's so fine in my PC.
anyways.... I'm still trying different things
::EDIT::
okay.. now I tried to rotate counter clockwise 90 degrees and now all is fine except one thing
when the tablet is OFF and charging and u fast click the power button to see the charging meter... u see 4 Green Bars moving up inside the Batters... right?
now my Battery image is Vertically while the Green bars are Horizontally !!!
here's an Image to check out and know what I'm talking about:

It's right! Because the logo.bin you are trying to edit is NOT from your originally ROM. I tried to inform you about this, saying about different orintations in your logo.bin and logo.img files. I'm glad to see you commence to understand what is wrong with your logo. Now just adjust your battery image for charging green bars (you cannot edit their positions) and everything will be OK.
something is weird here....
u know what?? I suspect that something is wrong with the: build.prop file.... I highly think there is something wrong with it..
your logobuilder_unpacked tool is Great Kadan... I confirm it's working fine but just needs some adjustments based on different logo.bin built around, but the tool is great for MT65xx processors and this is one rare thing to have a GUI tool for supporting its logos...
I wish you could also develop another GUI tool doing the same thing with the boot_logo as well..
and for now I'll keep trying out whats wrong with the build.prop file and the theory I have in mind and will come for a feedback.
thanks again

Some devices can't be flashed with "package_extract_file("logo.bin", "/dev/logo");". You can create your own script (try using "write_raw_image()") or flash new logo.bin via flashing tool.
