please dont flame me - Kindle Fire Themes and Apps

Ok i want to first start by saying i like ios and android and by no means do i like ios better but i have an ipad and a droid x.......
But i was wondering if espier launcher works*which is pretty awesome on my droid x because it has widgets now* with the kindle fire if anyone would try it out i would love to no secondly i would like to no if v launcher works on the kindle fire(which is the launcher i would love to have on my fire) i am hoping my kindle comes in the mail tomorrow bought one on ebay saturday if anyone can answer my questions i would love to no.

I'm not familiar with those launchers, but either should work if you sideload them onto the Kindle.
First, enable the installation of non-market applications (under the devices section in settings)
The easiest way to do this would then be to find the apk's that you want on-line, transfer them to your Kindle via USB (or e-mail), and then install them using ES File Explorer.

I tried the Espier Launcher, it was very smooth and works fine, I just don't like the iphone-ish style.

Hi Guys, here are some original app collections from ICS, which really works for our X10 in 2.2+ ROMZ. I've tried for me and it's all good !
We talk about :
Android Market 3.2.0 http://www.multiupload.com/1C3D7G2O9Q
Google Music 4.0.1 http://www.multiupload.com/L5YFSZPL3J
Google Maps 5.10.2 http://www.multiupload.com/FMOJZHTT70
Street View 1.7.0.4 http://www.multiupload.com/NDAON6OX70
Google+ 2.0.0 http://www.multiupload.com/55LQG5YBW4
We've got also the ICS Laucher REPLICATE app (unofficial) http://syndicateapps.com/ICS/V1.2.0.0/ICS_2.4_Launcher.apk
-> Install like normal apps.
->For those who can't get it work straight, uninstall previous version, then install the new one and it should work.
->If not,
1. Use Root explorer, go to /system/app
2. Mount the system to r/w.
3. Copy/Paste and Replace apps to /system/app folder
4. Now press & hold app and select Permissions
-tick all boxes in the first column
-tick top box in the second column
-don't tick any box in the last column
5. Reboot, you're done !
Thanks... launcher apk work very fine and smooth.
Hey, as an aside, this isn't actually the ICS launcher. It's one that has been put together to look like it. It's available in the market here https://market.android.com/details?id=mobi.SyndicateApps.ICSv2&feature=search_result
Ta,
Lol epic fail...
That launcher isn't nearly as good as the actual ics one. I'm surprised it fooled so many people.
arrr...i was excited when i saw launcher...but that's not the official one.
Still like the look-a-like launcher and will probably keep it until the real one is posted...

The launcher is really convincing, you people should try it, really fast and smooth

The launcher looks nice, and it's very smooth, but sometimes it crashes in the app menu (you have to install default music player I guess). I know it's not even the real one ported, but it looks kinda' nice.
the launcher & APP is just for SE stock??

Get my Chacha in 3 days - Newbie guide? :)

Hey dudes and girls!
I've had my Xperia Play for almost 6 monts now, but It's starting to get pretty boring. I actually don't play that much like I did in the beginning.. and there are no "super cool" games, that I first thought when i saw the phone.
First, I looked at the Blackberry, because I love the design and the keyboard, but I hate blackberrys os. Lack of good apps ect ect. Then I found HTC Chacha. The perfect combination between Blackberry's design and Androids OS, perfect!
So, as the topic says, I get my phone in 2-4 days. I'm no noob when it comes to Android, but I still wanted to make this thread. And I have made a little list that I thought someone could help me with.
1) Which launcher works the best IYO? I want one with the dock on the bottom
2) Which apps works great?
3) Which apps doesn't work? (I know the phone is to weak for most games)
4) Any app recommendation?
5) Any good themes?
6) Where do I get the best quality wallpapers for the screen resolution?
7) How about root? I know that the phone doesn't have much memory, so I need to install apps to the SD card. Is that possible on this phone?
8) others - tips, trix, things I have to know about?
Thank you so much!
1)GO Launcher EX -> IMO. ADW, Launcher Pro are also viable choices. Afaik there is no launcher that has the dock on the bottom - landscape issue.
2+3)Check Themes&Apps section. There are few threads around there.
4)Your call.
5)Launcher themes or custom ROM themes. Or UOT.
6)Google Images?! 480x320.
7)Unlock bootloader, su, CWM, busybox and A2SD. That's about it. Or use a custom ROM.
8)Check the guide in my sig for stuff that you may already know.

Thanks dude! might get back to you in like 1-2 days when I get it
Will rooting the Chacha mess up the Scandinavian letters Å, Ä and Ö?
Because I really need them to.. you know.. write haha.
Btw, I just wanna root (so I can delete bloatware), no fancy pancy ROMS or such, just regular ROOT

Wallpaper Changer Solution (Root NOT NEEDED)

Here is a solution many people are desperately in need of for the Kindle Fire. This is a side loaded .APK that DOES NOT require Rooting! The ever changing lock screen/wallpaper is obviously annoying to the vest majority of us. I have found two apps that can take care of this. They appear to be very similar but one is in (a) Google Play[Market] and the (b) other is freely available on the web with no login necessary and explains to the novice how to install in simple terms and pictures.
a) Wallpaper Change Kindle Fire by DPAPPS - (Google Play / Android Market)
and
b) My Kindle Wallpaper - to find it, Google --> "kindlecooltricks wordpress" and it was the 3rd in the list as of this posting. You should be able to easily find it.
Now to get everyone started, here are 20 desktop picture. What can you make and share ?
Here are a few more....
Enjoy and let me know what you think of the pictures and programs; as well as how it is working for you?
Thanks for the app suggestion. Happen to have pics zipped?

Here all the wallpapers ZIPed up.
Here is the link to (a) & (b), not sure if it will post....
(a) https://play.google.com/store/apps/...?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDEsImNvbS53YWxsLmNoYW5nZXIiXQ..
(b) http://kindlecooltricks.wordpress.com/2012/02/01/change-kindle-fire-wallpaper-without-rooting/
Thanks. I'm using My Kindle Wallpaper (the second one linked) and it's getting the job done.
thank you for this! i was getting so tired of the wallpapers that come on the kindle. Now everyday I just choose which one I want, and they are the perfect size!
None of them used my selected picture on 6.3,

Used the method you suggested and it worked. I kinda have a question, for a split second when I wake my KF, the default wallpapers that are built into the device show up before the ones I've saved for the DPAPP application. Is there a way that I can completely shut off the default ones?

thanks been looking into this for so long will have to put on my mother inlaws kindle tonight
sweet switching!
Great app! Someone earlier had tried to change my wallpaper to some crazy pic using settings, except this app automatically switched it back to my selection--I never even noticed the change; this is nice, people can't prank my paper! Unless they used this app/kinda obscure anywho
VERY appreciative, thanks for the post
dpapps didnt work for me at first as the pictures were all too big even at 1024x600 resolution.
i solved the issue by removing go launcher ex and then it worked
i then reinstalled go launcher and it still works great
apparently go launcher ex changed the default wallpaper settings on both sides of my kindle, the carousel and go launcher. hopefully this helps anyone experiencing the same issue
My Kindle Wallpaper is working great! My eyes thank you!

Amazon's update 6.3.1 for non rooted KFs fixes the problem many have had with selecting a specific wallpaper....
awesome ! Thanks so much.. Fantastic apps for changing wallpapers...:good::good::good::good::good:

Good Quick Launcher?

Looking for a good "Quick Launcher" to use with GestureControl. GestureControl has a "Launchpad" which is pretty good, but a little basic, and slow to come up. I've seen videos on youtube with nice launchers for Acer devices ( Looks like a circle type launcher ) and also one for the Iconia which runs the Windows OS, it's also a circle type launcher. Was wondering if anyone has any good apps for assigning a gesture to the app via GestureControl then having the app overlay pop up and you can select an app to run that you've configured to show there.
This would be a great addition to use in conjunction with GestureControl, couldn't find much looking on the play store due to the fact that searching for "launcher" even with modifier words shows mostly desktop launchers( ADW, Go Launcher, Apex, etc... ) and their themeing counterparts.

ADW launcher EX !
SwipePad sounds like what you're looking for. I've been using it for months and now along with the usual suspects, this is one of the apps that I install first after flashing a new rom. Give it a shot.

"Android TV" Experience - What's missing?

hey all
So I recently got myself a Nexbox A95x to play with, hardware is really nice, looks sleek, then I turned it on.. The first thing that hit me is the launcher UI is horrible.
To cut a long story short, I've looked on the Play Store and I can't seem to see any launchers that look anything close to the UI experience of Google's Leanback launcher so I'm wondering what you guys recommend as the launcher for one of these types of boxes?
Also, is there any apps you use to be notified on your TV when you get an sms or whatsapp etc?
I should also note I'm a dev, and I'm seriously considering building something better than what I've currently found out there so far so I'm interested to know if I've missed something or if the state of TV ui apps atm really is lacking..
You could try https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.awe.dev.pro.tv
Once it been set-up, it's very good. You can change artwork of apps and rearrange with ease.
Does this replace original launcher? Or does it act app like? Does it start itself when booting android TV?
I know this thread is old but I recently purchased the A95X and wanted to share my thoughts for anyone who may find this in the near future.
The A95X isn't the greatest box by any stretch but the TV Launcher linked here has made this box worth using. I've been looking for a way to sideload the Google Android TV Launcher but this device is not listed as compatible with the play store listing. Still searching for that but in the mean time, TV Launcher is a quality app that does run app like but you just set it as the default launcher and it starts when you boot the box. I recommend it.

you can use cetusplay from playstore.. inside cetusplay there is app section from which leanback launchers can be installed..
but for some reason google leanback launcher not showing recommendations.
I will also suggest you to use HAL launcher.
