Hi guys.
Just updating my desire S to Virtuous Rom with ICS I was setting up my phone and encountered a problem. In GB with Sense 3 I setted my ringtone in the sound menu or selecting the song in the music player, and using options I was able to set it up as phone ringtone. Now in ICS, neither in the sound menu nor in the music player this option is available, I know I can use ringdroid, but I was wondering if there's still and option present in android itself to perfom this
Thanks a lot ^^
If you want to set up some song as ringtone you have to create folder Ringtones on SD card and place that song there. After rebooting you can to set that song as ringtone in the sound menu.

All of a sudden none of my .mp3 ringtones will not work on my phone. When I set an .mp3 and test it nothing happens or if the phone rings nothing happens. Then when I exit out of the ringtone application I can see it change back to a .wma. All other ringtone formats work.
I tried changing the registry key Hkey_Current _user Control Panel Sounds Ringtone(0) but it changes back to the .wma ringtone? Any suggestions?

Hi,
Did you install a third-party mediaplayer ? AFAIK WM only plays ringtones that are regged to WMP... and if you set another app to play MP3 by default, WMP doesn't know that filetype anymore.
Dirk
I never thought of that. I did load Win Vibe so I uninstalled it and rebooted the phone, however, I still have the same problem. Is there anything else that I need to change in the registry or elsewhere relating to that? Also, what does AFAIK stand for?
afaik = as far as i know
Hi all,
I am having some problem with changing ringtones/ playing mp3 songs in my htc touch2 t3333(spl edition).
Till yesterday it was working fine. today morning when i got a call the ringtone changed to some default tone. i tried to change the ringtone in settings/notifications and sounds. every time i try to to change the ringtone, the phone seems to work on it and goes back to default tone. i tried playing different tones from the dropdown menu and it doesnt play. and also when i close the notifications and sounds tab it doesn't close.
i tried playing mp3 files from storage card and nothing seems to happen. i can only play video files from tcp player(i can hear the audio). other than than i am not able to play any audio. and i cannot open the default windows player.
its rather strange that none of the audio files seems to play either in phone or storage.
any advice is appreciated.
thanks

guys any suggestions ?? dont want to hard reset
Hi Guys,
I am having a little issue with my sensation and I want to see if it happens to you as well.
When playing music with the stock HTC player, you have the option to chose sound enhancement, which actually works really well.
My problem is that every time I start listening to music, I need to go and apply the sound enhancement settings, the phone does not remember my preferences.
Does it happens to you too?
Yes. Probably a bug.
I don't guess anyone has had this problem but me. I'm running Eaglesblood 2.3.7. I've checked the settings for sound and the preferences in google voice and the cyanogenmod settings and can't figure this out.
When my phone rings it never rings with my selected ringtone. It rings with a ringtone I used to use months ago. And when I miss a call, the phone plays an mp3 of a song I have that I have probably only listened to once. And it plays that song to completion unless I mute the volume, and steals the audio focus so if I'm playing some other video when it happens, I can't hear the audio until the song finishes playing.
I tried clearing data on the dialer app, which causes the app to flash and then play the missed call song. I delete the two offending songs and the phone seems to be trying to play them because now I have no ringtone at all. All I can do is use talking caller id from the app market.
Anyone ever heard of this?
So I've used Whitehawkx's G2x MIUI builds for around 5 months, and never had this issue before, but after flashing a SINGH MIUI I've had the same MP3 ringtone issue that I've seen pop up in other MIUI ROM threads:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20850981&postcount=434
For the first time, when I select any MP3 ringtone, it keeps the specified MP3 listed as the ringer on the settings screen, but it won't play the MP3 when a call comes in; it'll play the last default (MIUI-included) ringtone that was selected.
Notification and alerts work fine as MP3's. It's just the call ringtone that won't play correctly. I've tried with MP3's at various paths on SD card (media/audio/ringtones included) and always with the same result.
Again, these MP3's had no issues in the same spot with the same permissions on the same SD card when running WHX MIUI a few days ago. I wiped/formatted system, data, cache and dalvik prior to flashing the SINGH-UI version, but this issue seems to be sporadic across different MIUI roms.
MIUI users - anyone else have this issue on any ROM that can offer a clue as to how to remedy it? I've tried moving the file, using different MP3s, and a bunch of reboots, but it seems like a persistent behavior, though not limited to SINGH as per the link above.
Thanks.
I had this problem at first. Select your ringtone from the Themes app and not from the settings menu. This is what worked for me...

Confirmed: this works/solves the problem. Thanks for the speedy tip - I'm sure this will help a bunch of other folks too. Curious how this affected certain MIUI roms but not others. I wonder if this is a theme-related bug (custom them in my case) somehow?
To sum up: setting ringtone at the Theme level works; setting via system prefs misfires.
Okay, next riddle. There's a similar bug with the notification tone - you can set it in the system prefs, but it won't actually use the MP3 you specify. Unlike the SMS notification and caller ringtone, there's no place in the themes customization menu to override this.
Anyone work around this?
