Speed up Nandroid Backups and Restore - Motorola Atrix 2

Found this while searching today and it works great! Go into sdcard/clockworkmod and create a file named ".hidenandroidprogress" without the parenthesis. The easiest way I have found to do this is using ES File Explorer and go into your sdcard/clockworkmod and hit the menu button and select new, then file and call it ".hidenandroidprogress " . This file wont show up until you look at your phone on your computer but its there. Im sure you can use the same process using Root explorer.

Not exactly related...but adb still works the best...for me
Super manager in the market, wen you DL, you have to go to super manag. Options and check root otherwise its just a file explorer

EStrong's File Explorer has a root option too, but the last time I tried using ES, it would only ever work once. If I rebooted or exited the app, I'd have to FC it and Wipe Data or else it'd hang up trying to open back up.

I installed root explorer too but i cant get the system file
I can't recall if root explorer has the option to set the home folder (phone is off, can't see), but it's easy enough, no matter what your home folder is. at the top, if there is a "parent" folder, you will see an unnamed folder, called "..."
that is your place to go "one folder up"
example:
/ is your main folder that contains all other data and folders in your phone.
/system is your system folder.
if you see something like this:
/mnt/sdcard/external_sd
then you are browsing files on your sd card.
let's say you have these folders on your sd card as you browse using root explore:
()...
()adobe
()ebooks
()Titanium
click on the ()... to go up to the next folder. when you reach the main root, you'll see something like this (not exact):
()cache
()data
()mnt
()sys
()system
I can't make it any simpler to find than that. good luck...

system\customize\resource\bootanimation.zip It is not on the sd card. Use a file explorer like Root Explorer, Astro File Manager, or ES File Explorer to see and edit files in the system folder.
You're going to need a file manager that has root access. Astro File Manager does not. Root Explorer or ES File Explorer do. Use either of those to put the zip in the directory Agoattamer gave you. You may also need to change the permissions on the file. Not exactly sure if that's necessary or what exactly the permissions should be, but it's something to look at if the animation doesn't work.
I'll be damned. I use Root Explorer myself. By far the best and simplest in my opinion, although it is a paid app. And yes you have to tap on "mount R/W" to alter files in the System folder. I suspect in ES File Explorer (free) you have to do the same. Both require SuperUser.
But I always thought Astro File Manager was able to edit system files. If you do a web search there are so many websites and forum threads stating to use Astro to change permissions and edit system files. Wrong. Although it can see system files it can't mount the system folder as Writeable, only Readable. It does not ask for SuperUser permissions. Guess I will never install that app on a rooted phone.
Thanks sharksfan7 for pointing me straight.
Appreciate it guys!

You need to open root explorer or open rom up with 7zip or winrar on computer and go to system/etc scroll all the way to the bottom and open up the volds. fstab file with text editor and scroll to the bottom of the page to the very last line and change the end of the last line from mmc1 to mmc2.. make sure if you open in root explorer you mount system to r/w before making the edit. Then save and close, then reboot. That will solve your issue.

Root Explorer comes in VERY handy. One of the big 3 (Titanium Backup & Rom Manager being the other 2).

[Q] Issue editing build.prop

I recently rooted my Inspire and loaded CM7.2 RC1 and I was just trying to increase my download speeds by editing the build.prop file. I'm using explorer v1.1 to get to the system folder and then editing the build.prop file using the text editor. When in explorer it says r/w and I can actually edit the file and save it but it never seems to actually save the changes even though it says it did. I tried using mount/system(rw/ro) to ensure that it was actually mounted but I am getting the same result. Any suggestions would be appreciated!
ES file explorer
Hi, I use the es file explorer, when you open it up hit "menu" scroll to bottom and make sure both root settings boxes are checked, then restart app. You should be good to go.
I recommend ROM Toolbox. It has a root file explorer and many other tools which come in handy on a rooted phone.
