I HATE Zune!
I find it very painfull to use if you have a bunch of un-named songs its just useless.
I miss the days of just dragging and dropping the folders in explorer onto my phone in order to sync my files.
So I have access to the filesystem on my phone using Windows phone device manager, but I still cant locate where WP keeps, Music, pics or videos etc!...
Can someone please help me out.?
EDIT: Just found where it stored my songs and album art. Seems it wont help if I just copying my media into the filesystem Why can't it just have a file called, music, videos etc!!!!)

Because Windows Phone sucks ass, trying to be like the iPhone. They figured that this way you wouldn't share music that you've downloaded with others so they can make more money; same reason you can't freaking send an audio file as an attachment or MMS. People on here are probably tired of hearing me say this but WM kicks WP ass by a long shot, this is why their sales suck.
"I find it very painfull to use if you have a bunch of un-named songs its just useless."
Consider that you are the problem, not zune. Go organize your music library, learn to use a computer, etc etc.
sinister1: WM sales weren't great either...
Why are there two WP haters spamming up this forum?
mmm, excuse me!
Check my previous posts! I am no spammer!
Maybe this forum would be a better place without "senior" members like you!
And as for me knowing how to use a computer.......the first computer I used was a commodore VIC-20, you probably dont even know what one of them is!
I have probably built more computer systems than you have had hot meals!
I will not stand for this personal attack! Certainly not from a senior member that should know better!

Hello,
Last week, I've noticed a thread about file transfer from the ipod touch to the PC and kept the URL, but now it says the thread is invalid.
Does anyone know if it was moved, or could someone please give me some info about it?
I can't seem to find any good info on google about it. (some can do it manually song by song.. but that's not really an option)
I hope I'm not posting on the wrong forum, for this subject..
Thanks
ImTOO ipod computer transfer, look in google for that
Thanks a lot, I'll try this one out.
I am using Aniosoft iBackup to transfer music from iPod to computer.a great third-party program which enables you to transfer music, movies, podcasts,TV shows, photoes from iPod/iPhone to iTunes and computer as audio files too. And both the backup in the storage device can be recovered and restored with no any change and no any risk. And the data in the iTunes is quite in accord with the iPod's data including its playlists, rating and etc.
So this one is also an useful backup program for iPod/iPhone users. It's a necessary tool especially for iPod/iPhone users who happend to have a new computer and lose iTunes' data on the old ones.
I found the solution at Yahoo answers and i'll show it here since i'm a person who likes to spread words after using something amazing.

My music library is filled by mp3's from navigation software and other stuff.
how can I make the device only scan /Storage card/music and /storage card/movies , and ignore the rest ?

Did anyone ever figure this out? I've got a HTC desire and have this same problem
At least I did not find any solution.
it's the microsoft way "spy on everything".
I've also moved to Ubuntu a year ago, and I assume I'll move to Android soon, windows mobile 7 is just another apple-wannabe-limitations-and-censorship-tool.

Why blame Microsoft? you do realise Android has the exact same problem, right? Except on Android you dont even have a file explorer out of the box to delete unwanted soundfiles on the device.
I cant wait to get back to Windows Mobile.

ok, well maybe I'm unfair, but I don't like the way windowsmobile 7 locks, and deelopment tools down.
Also, I miss them to support flashing from Linux. - knowing the'll never support such decent OS.
there is a way to hide folders from HTC's album, and i remember hiding folders so they don't show up in media player. It was a reg edit but can't remember the keys/values. A good thorough search will probably reveal them
Easily done mate....just save the music you want visable into one of the following locations
Device/my documents/my music
Storage card/ my documents/my music
for videos, just do the same but rename folder 'my videos'
Should work
I thought I had made a thread for this a while ago, but can not find it. Sorry if its a repost.
What I was wondering is whether or not someone who had an app, or the skilz to make an app, that can take a sample of an mp3/wma/ogg/flac/etc file, match it on say shazam or something then update the ID3 tag with the pulled info. With the option for it just to rename them automatically, or ask for your approval of changes. Much like how Album Art Grabber gets your artwork for you on mass, with little or no manual intervention. This would be great for a few reasons.
I have been finding myself using mp3 download apps on my phone a lot now, more so than my comp and these files are usually incomplete at best. a way to get these, then run this app to fix discrepancies would be awesome!
Its not that I'm lazy, I just have 10+ years of tunes on my external and a lot of them didn't get tags back in the day. Plus after that long, uploads, downloads, 4 computers, iTunes (ARGH!!! I HATE ITUNES!!!!!!) renaming and reorganizing have some in a mess. So when I transfer them, they usually all show up unknown, null, or DGOI.mp3. And renaming & tagging 1000s of songs one by one is not how I want to spend a week.
Hope this sparks an idea, or someone can point me in the direction of one that already exists. I'm sure one does for a PC, but I don't use mine for media other than movies. My phone is my music machine. If a PC solution is the only way so be it.
I don't know of an app that can do this but maybe someone could take the method that the app ,"MP3 Download", uses. First you search for a song and can preview then you can choose to download it. Once you have downloaded it you can goto edit tags and it has a download button... I don't know what database it uses or how it is configured but it will give you album art and is usually correct. I think it has to have the album name though.
Thanks! I'll try that on there, and my old iMusic Tao apk I still have.
Mixzing pro can do this

Hello people,
How can we send files, like videos, music and pictures by bluetooth to other phone?
Regards
You can't. Depending on the type of file, you can upload it and share a link.
Or you can email it.
im hopin they add some kinda file explorer or bluetooth explorer in the near future
Yes hope so, we need the file explorer to send files from bluetooth...
regards

Absolutely. Now it's a very crippled OS.
Especially when somebody has a good feature phone with Bluetooth and it's a complete nonsense to either use email on this or set an email account and download the whole inbox to get, let's say one small picture.
Pity MS screwed so many things at start.
The same for Zune. Instead of just simple drag&drop you wait for HOURS for the movies and pics to convert, before you actually PUT them on the device.
And of course core MS products have completely no compatibility between them, like Live - Outlook - MyPhone.....
Hello,
I really like this phone but there was something that was bothering me from day one. Is there anyway to download media/audio files DIRECTLY off the phone without the use of a computer? For example when my friend sends me an audio file as an attachment and I try to download it, it just opens and streams and if I leave the small app that it opens in it is gone. However, I want to be able to actually download the file and just listen to it offline in normal zune player. Is there any method/hack/homebrew todo this?
I have an LG Quantum unlocked
Thanks You!
Yes there is, look HERE, works for me. (Win7 64bit + WP7 HTC 7 Pro)

is it supposed to show up as a mass storage now ? i did the trick and it doesnt ... havent restarted comp tho
Thanks CP Geek for your reply. I am aware of that trick and it is great! However, that wasn't exactly what I meant. I meant that I am browsing the internet on my phone and trying to download an audio file to my phone's "Music and Video" hub. In other words I want to be able to download online audio files without the use of a computer at all...
Any takers on this?
at the moment i dont think this is possible ive asked this same question myself with no luck. The file thats streaming is on the device somewhere
this may help u out
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/general-windows-phone-7-discussions/142164-how-download-mp3s-internet.html
now im hoping that with mango or a future update they let u download files through the browser on my windows mobile i download rar, mp3 and zip files all the time and update my library all on my phone on the go without a computer, i hate being tied down to having to use a computer
Yeah that's exactly what I wanted todo Deadwrong.
I checked the thread it looks like they have some progress. Its unfortunate though that they don't have a full solution yet. I was actually thinking of taking a different approach on the matter. If we look at the registry it appears that there are some keys that tell the phone how to deal with PDFs and how to open them. There should be something for telling the OS how to interact with audio files as well. I was wondering maybe it is possible to change that to something that instructs it to download to Music and Videos.
I would think if there's a way to buy music on the phone, then it'd just be a matter of knowing where on the phone to save the files and that would ope up a world of downloading or syncing possibilities outside of using the Zune software.
