Ok, so I've flashed the Sky Ice Cream Sandwich rom, seen here --> Link to thread in developer forum , and I have a question that might sound incredibly stupid.
Does this rom have voice recognition functioning? My stock rom had it, and now that I've updated my ICS keyboard in Market, I can see the button for it on the keyboard, but when I press it, it just shows the microphone with a red line through it, like it's preparing and....never goes anywhere.
Again, possibly a reeeeeally stupid question, but I couldn't find mention of it anywhere.
Aside from that, loving the rom. It's awesome.
I have installed the skyics rom, but i don't have any issue on it. MY voice recognition function work perfect. Well you can try to redownload the rom, and reflash it?
Can I use Dag Kernel with this rom? Thanks!
Of course you can Da_G is best at developing kernel. And his kernel is beast. I m running his kernel and ice cream rom

As far as voice recognition, make sure you have voice search installed. If you do try reinstalling it.

Download rom manager
Fix permissions with it. Then click menu settings application. Manage applications. Find market. Click it. Then clear data.
My friend has this phone. She's always had freezing issues with it, but I got running better with a custom kernel, ext4, and cwm but now at times when she goes yo unlock it it'll freeze up and she has to pull the battery. It's better then freezing up all the time but still not a good thing.
Anyone have tips or fixes?

Nope, I wanted to make things as similar to stock as possible and just smooth things out.

i was just wondering if anyone out there could help me with a Modified netflix apk to download because the stock won't work with my rooted phone and ive looked all over for one that works and i think i have tried them all. all and any help would be thankful. i dont know if it will help but i have eaglesblood rom
Eaglesblood Rom? Is it Gingerbread, ICS, or JellyBean? CM7,9,or 10 based? I think you might be having problems if you are on an ICS or JB rom. Your problem with Netflix probably is not because you are rooted, but due to incompatibility with the specific rom you are using. I personally use Netflix with CM7 based roms without any problems. I have not used Eaglesblood for ICS or JB, but I can Nandroid back to an ICS or JellyBean build I have used (Benee's Hackfest or ICS Paranoid). If you are on a Gingerbread Eaglesblood, then I'd be surprised to hear about you having a problem with Netflix...
I might be able to help if you let me know what Eaglesblood you are using.

Thats ICS AOSP bld 5. Find their GB EGB. Flash that and then your Netflix will work with no hiccups. Or just wait a week or so when ROMs start coming out with stable ICS/JB.

Make a Nandroid backup of your current software. If you're not happy with Gingerbread (and everything working), simply restore the Nandroid to revert back.
Now, before I go and do something really stupid (and possibly non-reversible), I'd like to ask a stupid question.
Hypothetically, if I'm running a Ice Cream Sandwich based ROM (CleanROM 5.1 on ICS 4.0.4), what would happen if I were to flash a kernel based on Jelly Bean sources (Bulletproof Kernel)?
Would I brick my phone? Bootloop?
Would making a restore point in TWRP be a valid way of undoing the damage?
Never tried it. Shouldn't be any harm in trying but it certainly won't work properly.
What exactly will happen? Most likely bootloop, but can't say for sure since I've never tried. If you want to use bulletproof just update to the latest clean rom?
Sent from my One X using xda app-developers app
Nothing serious. You would just get a bootloop. You can fix it by flashing a compatible combination.

Would that be reflashing the ROM (in my case CleanROM) as a whole, or would it be flashing a specific kernel?
Would restoring from a TWRP backup fix it?
It would be reflashing a jb rom.
Ie: the latest cleanrom

Crap, so if something goes wrong, I have to upgrade my ROM...
The only thing that's been keeping me upgrading to Jelly Bean is that Quick Settings is gone from the notification menu. I've tried using alternatives like Notification Toggle, but they seem to have odd issues with flickering.
It's probably a petty reason, but it's my hangup nonetheless.
No... Something will go wrong lol it will not work with ics for sure

Something will go wrong. There's no way it will work. If you want to run ICS roms, you need to stay on ICS kernels, full stop.

You should be able to fastboot flash the boot.img from cleanRom ics. This would reset the kernel after the potential boot loops from flashing bulletproof.

Hello!
I have a Samsung Galaxy S Advance i9070.
I just customized it from 2.3.6 stock, to Light JellyBean v1.2. I use CoCore-E-8.6.4 as custom kernel.
I don't know what to do, the phone is very slow. Sometimes it freezes for a very long time, it freezes in the menus, it freezes on google play, etc. Sometimes it's for a short period of time, but sometimes it crashes the whole ROM and the phone reboots... :crying::crying:
What should I do? On 2.3.6 the phone worked like a charm...
Please teach me how to make it better (4.1.2 of course). Tell me what is the best ROM, best KERNEL, best everything for S Advance i9070?
Thank you in Advance!
i found this

I also have Galaxy S advance I have used all custom roms. Always touchwiz roms lag
Our device has got stable cm10.1, cm10.2, cm11(wifi toggle buggy), omni rom, slimkat, carbon and many Rome see the s advance original development thread for more details
I suggest you to use cm10.1 or cm10.2. They are best and doesn't have single lag

I want to ask, if I install an AOSP based ROM, can I install afterwards some of the Samsung's "touchwiz" apps that really matter?

Thanks for the answer. If I could have done it, it would have been great. It might still work, if I find the apps in .apk, it might just work, like an ordinary app. Does S-Voice belong to Samsung or Google? That's the only app that I want, I think. And I have it in .apk. I also have AccuWheather and Samsung Apps in .apk. I would lose Kies(I think), but the software is crap, backup and restore works only 70%. But there are more softwares out there that can do what Kies does, only better. So, I don't know, it's something to think about...
