I am running 2.2 OTA (NOT deodexed) on a Droid X
I was wondering if anyone could link a guide or give me step by step info on changing certain parts of a rom. Mostly it will be .apk and boots animations. Ive tried just adding the apks into a CWM zip and trying to flash it that way and had no luck what so ever. I can get the different boots onto the phone after flash but was wondering if it was possible to due it before a flash by putting it into a zip.
This will be for my personal use only and will talk to all dev about what im changing to make sure they wouldnt mine, if i could ever figure out how to do it right.
Im running GC FE 2.0 with EE4 modems. Plan on staying with EE4 untill more stable EQ1W GB.

Check out UOT - http://uot.dakra.lt/ Has some cool animations. Flash the animation you like with CWM. If that doesnt work unzip the file and copy the zip file in media folder to your /system/media using root explorer.
Thanks for the info but im pretty decent at using the kitchen. What i really want to be able to do is take say the brower apk from gummy and put it on any rom i use. Its the one that had bookmarks from the menu key.

Rip the apks from the cwm zip and put them in system/app.

Hey guys.. so i'm running ViperXL 3.0 JB.. and i was searching to replace the bootanimation, and couldn't find a file named bootanimation.zip.. all i could find was HTC_bootup_one.zip and htc_downanimation.zip in system/customize/resource
so.. can anyone point it to me?
Also.. since i'm running JB from asia (ViperXL), is there a way to flash a mod to get the CTR Screen Off Animation?

That is indeed the boot animation file, unzip it and you can see the individual images.
The problem I ran into here was replacing it with a new boot animation of the same name somehow broke the startup animation altogether and all I got was the blue android animation, even after putting the original file back. I did a nand restore to get the original back and am now waiting for someone to figure out how to do this the right way or start making flashable zips.
I was doing this through es file explorer on viper xl 3.0. Did it the same way many times before on ice with no issues.

I set the system partition to write and then back to read once the files were moved, but I don't think I can change file permissions with es and I don't have root explorer. Eventually I will quit being lazy and try replacing the files through adb with proper permissions like I had to on my evo.

I have Moto E and I know that both E and G have same ROM. I have scrambled up my fonts. Ofcourse I have my phone rooted. I was trying with new fonts and thus I scrambled up the stock fonts and I no longer have the stock fonts anymore and I didn't make a backup of them either.
I beg-- if someone have their Moto G, E or X rooted, I request them to please ZIP the fonts folder located at /system/ and upload it for me. :'(
My phone looks really bad with the scrambled fonts :'(

Hey. Urmmm.. I used your fonts and replaced the fonts on my phone with your fonts simply using es file explorer. That bricked the phone and it was stuck in a boot loop. I booted into recovery, mounted the system partition and replaced the fonts back with the backup I had made just before using your fonts. That fixed the phone. Which phone do you have?
I request someone with a rooted moto E running 4.4.2 or later to help me out
EDIT: It worked! The ES file explorer way doesn't work. I have to boot into recovery, mount the system partition (I have TWRP), delete the fonts folder from /system and then put the fonts folder you provided into /system -> Reboot and voila! The original fonts are back!

Can you tell me how to flash this font through recovery step by step?
Does anyone know how to get the STOCK Sprint boot animation from a stock rom? I've looked on extracting things from our .tar files but nothing clear on boot animations. I just like the stock animation, but want to stay on MOAR.
Any help on how to get it, or if someone could create it, that would be just plain jane awesomesauce.

assuming the CSC is correct on your rom of choice. The files you are looking for are in /system/media and they are SPR_bootsamsungloop.qmg, SPR_bootsamsung.qmg, and SPR_Shutdown.qmg. Taking a stock tar wont work, find yourself a stock rom, (deodex is fine) and grab the files and replace them and make sure to set permissions and you should be fine.
