Found this when surfing the net earlier today:
http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/150-best-android-apps-of-year-2011-editors-pick/
I don't know most of the apps, which is quite shocking! Anyway, enjoy!
P.S: I tried searching the forum but didn't find this, so I hope it's not been posted yet.
Kind of useless, probably.....
First app ... Google Currents is not available in my country .....
Ok, looked further at the list ... some interesting stuff ......
That's quite a list!
Thanks.
thanks,
There are a lot of applications. Some of them are not interesting but some are very usefull.
Yes, true... But even if they are not useful now, they may be useful in the future, as has happened to me.
P.S: Google Currents can be downloaded here: http://www.theandroidsoul.com/download-google-currents-apk-installer-file/. I tried it and prefer Taptu as it's faster to update the feeds and I can set white text against a black background.

I've started a new site, http://www.otainstall.com, that is designed to let you quickly install apps from PocketIE on your phone. I originally posted it over at ppcgeeks and the users there seem to be pretty happy with it.
It's password protected for now, just to keep the volume limited a bit. You can log in with the password 'blahblah'.
It's pretty new, so please let me know any bugs that you find. Also note that you should be able to upload apps to the site so that others can download them.
I'll be taking suggestions on category name improvements, etc..
Let me know what you think!
Nice idea! One thing that might be useful is a "Back" button embedded in the page: Make it better for full screen browsing.
Double Awesome
Thanks a lot. What exactly can I upload?

There are categories on the site, but generally anything is allowed as long as it's not copyrighted material. Ideally it should be a cab file or an executable that can be easily installed over the air.
Great idea for one stop shopping. Just an observation, how will you control duplicate entries or different release versions of same app? I can see it getting very ugly and unfriendly to the end-user very quickly. Just looking at programs and applications I already see two versions of spacer there and varying naming conventions and use of description. Haven't tried search yet, but maybe that helps sort that out...if you know exactly what you want (and the right keywords are called and published either in description or app file name).

This is definitely revision 1 of the site, so I'm taking all these suggestions and will be rewriting based off them. It's quite a bit more popular than I initially expected, so I'm pretty happy that everyone is enjoying it.
I was thinking of something like this, but more on an application repository type. Take the idea from linux / Ubuntu's application repositorys, where it can download, install, and keep up to date at all times as things are added and fixed.
If you could get this to work together with something like MoDaCo AppToDate it would be an awesome pair of apps...
looks promising, good luck with the site!
I have created a new Touch pro site for the shiny new touch/diamond. I've posted lots of tutorials and fixes i've found and put them all in one place with access to all files direct! If would like to help me out, send me a PM!
I'm hoping to create an awesome all in one place for all the stuff scattered across the boards. I've found that i find tons of useful stuff, and when i want to find it again, its sometimes hard to get back to the exact post even with search. I just got a new server too, so everything should be mighty fast! No ads, no spams, just help for all!
Looks great! Bookmarked
... But please for the love of all things HTC, change the specs page please. Light gray font on white is rather painful.
I cannot wait to see that games section updated, I really would like to see some games that actually work.
Very nice site. Glad to see that you take hints/tips well...

hello to everyone! i'm new in this forum (and sorry for my bad english, sometimes.. )
I'm going to buy the hd2 and I was looking for some cool apps.. I saw that there are some users that asked about "measuring apps" like light meter, angle meter, sound meter..
but without much success..
It will be great if someone could post a list of those programs (expecially a seismometer app, really cool! like this one --> youtube search: Seismometer App Demo For Windows Phone 7 || can't post the url cause i'm new..||
but for 6.5)
thanks!
try using the search function of the forum, than you'll find a few apps
or just browse the pages a bit, for example there is a metal detector app somewhere near the beginning of the themes and apps page
btw don't forget to say thanks to the developers and good luck with finding the apps you want
thanks gewoonian!
yes I've found some apps.. the only one I've not found yet is the seismometer.. I was searching for an iphone or wp7 (watch video) -like app.. but I couldn't find, also in other sites or forums..:\
maybe cause a hardware-limitation (g-sensor)?
I consider myself a rational intelligent man but I find this site insanely complex, non-intuitive,an extremely frustrating! After sleepless hours and hours and hours and hours of trying to familiarise myself with this place, this 64 year old man is sitting here in tears trying to find his last post among other simple tasks attempted. Does there not exist here, a simple starting tutorial to introduce one to the basic workings of this place? Please help.
My problems partially solved.
My problems partially solved ...
I FINALLY found a downloadable and functional apk for this forum's app (Google Play store will not play with my device at present ... That is one of the reasons that I am here) ... and that is helping me a LOT!
Perhaps it would be a good idea for you to make it a point to strongly recommend the XDA forums app to newly arriving members here.
I TRULY think that the website UI here could use some development to make it much more new-user-friendly, however.
... Another point ...
Maybe I am missing some kind of search filtering option, but, I do not see any value in hundreds of thousands of non-applicable and irrelevant search results when trying to find something here. Perhaps someone could direct me to such filtering options if they do, indeed, exist.
In closing, I must say that the reception I received when joining here was very pleasant and I am already on my way via some help
and advice from a couple of members here to solve my crashed Play Store problem.

I personally find hundreds of thousands of non applicable and irrelevant search results on very specifically searched items very very very unhelpful...

You should be able to see all your previous posts in your profile and link to the thread there. Xda is confusing unless you know what u want from it. For me if i have a question i just pop it in xda search bar and relevant threads pop up. But if u want to learn everything then u have to come up with a specific thing first theres not really a guide to it all. But u should be able to find almost anything with the right search. If not post question in a help or q&a thread. I will help just let me know what u r looking for

I simply HAD to tether to my PC as I simply CANNOT function on this site via my smartphone ... it is HORRENDOUS. I can't even figure out how to THANK people hardly or reply to their help ...
DAYAM ... what takes seconds here takes HOURS there ... SO MANY BUGS ... photo verification of reply to prove I am not a robot half way off the farking page ... and MANY MANY other concerns.
The help is great but the UI is SO unfriendly !
Anyways ... thank you for your responses and I will be much less tense now that I am on my PC
No I know how to tether ... but I have not been bothering even when at home. I have been so stupid til now. I was just emphasizing how much easier it is to communicate with this site from a large computer, monitor and keyboard is all.
Thanks tho
Hi there,
You will receive more help if you ask in this thread:
