"screen on" causes drain
There is no a magic solution for that, you just could calibrate the battery as usual, try to set the brightness to the lower level instead of automatic, use only 3G connections when you gonna browse or download something, if you just gonna check the email or whatsapp, etc. you just could use 2G Edge connections to improve the battery life, does not use live wallpapers and root your phone, use an app like no-frills to set a custom processor speed, etc.
but... more than 24 hours with battery it's like a miracle.
I would also try to figure out what causes your phone not to go into deep sleep. Many times your screen is off butbthe phone is awake. BetterBatteryStats might help you with that.

there must be some apps running in the background and prevent deep sleep of the phone and this causes the phone to stay at 300+ mhz looking at the "awake" time of your battery history.
i can just give you the advice to close an app if you dont use it anymore, always close it via the BACK button not via HOME because multitasking might be very cool but the app wont close automaticaly.
Use a task manager ( im actually using the standard task manager) and close the apps which are currently running. You can also check whether your phone goes into "sleep mode" or not with the app CPU Spy. its free on market and shows you the history of your processor speed.
Disable wifi 3g and stuff if you dont use it and close all apps and wait a bit. Then check via CPU Spy if phone was in "deep sleep".
Also how many RAM usage do you have by average?
I get 16-18 hrs of standard battery life.. Is it good? Also my average RAM usage is 330-380...

Hello,
I need some help with my evo...i have it running on the fresh 3.5 ROM and netarchy-toasts kernel, latest version and all. I am overclocking as well, but nothing to drastic. Until recently, the battery life on my phone went into the ***** literally. Before it went 24 hours plus with medium to heavy usage. Now i can leave the screen on and literally (no exaggeration) watch the battery drain sliver by sliver. I just did a complete data wipe and reflashed the rom and kernel both in hopes of resolving the issue, but its still draining. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I really need this fixed but cant figure it out on my own :/
edit: the only time this happens is when the screen is on, when the screen is off it STILL DOES drain more than usual, but nothing compared to what happens when its unlocked. My though is that an app is running in the background eating up my batter life, but i have no clue what it is or how to locate it.
This is what the battery usage is looking like. Always Android system up at the top

I forgot to mention that i have juicedefender installed already, and set cpu with profiles as well. one of the profiles is for when the screen is off, set for 300/300 (not accurate, but is set around that)
If its going as fast as you say (literally draining in an hour or so) I would say check your batter, try a new one. Otherwise you already have juice defender (which I tried and it really didn't do much else) so everything should be covered. Try wiping Dalvik cache, also try wiping batter stats (both are in clockwork recovery under the "advanced" tab.
Good luck and sorry if this doesn't help
Hey,
Download Juice Defender and AutoKiller fro the market and watch the Magic. me and you have the same phone and same rom. Note: delete any tsk Managers ou have because they will interfere with juice defender..

I wrote BetterBatteryStats because I was missing the great battery history that Spare Parts allowed to call on Froyo:
- Process stats with User and System CPU time
- *removed till issue #1 is fixed* Network Usage with bytes sent and received
- Wakelock stats (the most important one when it comes to battery drain)
- Other Usage stats: Awake, Screen On, Phone On, Wifi On, Wifi Running ratios

This app is still under development and may contain bugs. If you find one you can keep it but I'd be happy if you could also report it to me.
BetterBatteryStats is calling the "batteryinfo" service of Android to retrieve data already lying there without generating overhead.
BetterBatteryStats is focussing and has been tested on Froyo, Gingerbread and Honeycomb (3.1, thanks to daveid) and the APK is set to run only on those versions only.
What are wakelocks and why should you care about them?
When it comes to Android the most discussed and commented topic that I know is battery drain / battery life. I'm a quite heavy user because I spend a lot of time on the train every day reading my mails, surfing and listening to music but still my phone is off for a long time during the day and while I accept the battery being drained while I use the phone I care about it draining slowly while "doing nothing".
And here's the point: my SGS2 drains about 2-10 mAh where it was up at 20-100 mAh before I started cleaning stuff up (readings were taken with "Battery Monitor Widget" after leaving the phone alone 1/2 hour).
Try it yourself
Thanks
to nobnut and brandall for their support, testing and constructive feedback in the early stages of the development

Can someone tell me any suggestions to have better battery life with a custom kernel
I'm currently running aokp milestone 4 with trinity and just look at this horrible battery stats

And just by typing this I lost 2 percent
Flash Matr1x to start. See if that helps. Also, look at what apps are running. settings>apps>running. See if anything there is on a lot, and stop it. Turn auto sync off.
I get about 20 hours of decent usage with this setup
every kernel and rom combo is going to perform differently. I find the best way to get the most out of my battery is to calibrate the battery by fully charging, allowing the battery to fully discharge, and then repeating those two steps once or twice more.
You without me is like Harold Melvin without the Blue Notes...
download battery calibration app from market, fully charge battery (94 or 95%), then calibrate using the app. Allow your battery to fully discharge (until it shuts itself off), and finally charge your phone completely with it still off. You should notice an amazing enhancement in battery life.
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using Tapatalk
what I do is: (Use NSTools, its easier to make this setups!)
- Use LiveOC on 110%
- Overclock to 1110 Mhz - 200 Mhz
- Activate Deep Idle
- Use Lionheart governor.
Try this and see if it helps.
Turn off GPS and nfc if you're not using it! And wifi if you're not connected to a network, I think that may help something!

How about you tell us your on screen time?
Seems like your phone is on for quite sometime given that is it at 41%. Usually during a normal day mine usually consumes 28% with 2 hours of on screen time.
If you're hitting 4-6 hours of on screen time, that battery stat is NORMAL.
Thank you guys for your suggestion but i think my battery is just too old
im ordering some spare batteries for amazon
Tell me what you think about these

What is the most efficient way of accomplishing this? I am on Slim ICS, and even if you set the sleep policy to "Never," I'm sick of waiting 15 minutes for the radio to turn off. It's actually terribly draining on the battery.
Any ideas?
WiFi really shouldn't drain that much. I find it drains much less than 3G

you can find the GreenPower on google play, it offers you to turn off wifi, 3g and manage many things else to save your battery

In theory, you're right. But in this pic, you can clearly see a steeper slope when WiFi is active. This is with about 1:40 of display time and rather light usage

to me it looks like the sharpest decline is when you don't have a mobile connection

I'm also using Slim and under Settings > ASS (Advanced Slim Settings) > Power Saver there's a section under Advanced Settings called Screen-off Wi-Fi action that you can change to turn of wifi when you're screen is off. Make sure you also check the toggle "enable power saver" at the top of the power saver menu.
Having said that, I find that leaving wifi on all the time extends my battery because I don't have very strong cell phone service at my house and it's easier for my phone to check for email or google voice texts and only have to reach my router which has good service rather than strain to reach the cell phone tower.
If that doesn't work you could use Tasker or Setting Profiles. I find SP to be more user friendly.

I am using the CM10.1 JB rom. I left my sensation in my pocket this morning , the battery dropped from 70% to 30% within 2 hours. I haven't turned on the Wi-Fi and 3G , not even an background apps. What happen to my phone, it's there any problem on the governor setting or kennel ??

1. Check for wake locks (try wakelock detector from play store)
2. What is your kernel?
3. Min/Max CPU frequencies?
4. How old is your phone/battery?
I would try getting an anker battery. You will be amazed at the longevity of the battery. Also, it stays very cool, even when you are playing CPU/GPU intensive games.

Mine is the original kennel from Albinoman887's CM10.1. The governor should be lazy and sio. I have tried another battery and it drains at the same way --

Try setting a profile via system settings. When your screen is off, turn GPS and WiFi off.
I would try an anker battery if none of these work. A 1 year old battery can be actually pretty old depending on how much you use the phone.
Also, if you don't actually use GPS functions, then I would get greenify(app from play store/requires root). You can hibernate the Google maps app so it won't eat up your battery if you don't use it.

Hello everyone. I don't want to create new thread so I'm writing here. My battery drops crazy too. With brand new Anker (about week old) my phone lives only for 10 hours without heavy use. As OP said: I left my Sensation in the pocket... Now I'm on CM10.1, but ARHD drains crazy too... WakeLock shows crazy behaviour of Gpslocationprovider but I don't think that this is the reason for drain because other roms drains out crazily too. What should I do? Thanks a lot!
