Hello there, I recently installed serendipity 7, everything was going good for 2 days then the power button stopped working, I read that was a common problem and people were saying to try take pics with the camera but my power button totally stopped working.
I couldn't reinstall it because once i was in recovery mode, i couldn't use the power to select re install.
so i managed to reset it back to 2.1, then i updated to froyo hoping that would reset the power button, but it still doesn't work.
looks like I will have to buy a new phone unless someone knows of a fix, any help would be greatly appreciated
Why would you need to BUY a new one?
that is a hardware issue so you will need a new one...but that is a manufacturer defect and your phone should still be under warranty. Just call up at&t(or rogers) or samsung explain the issue you should get it replaced without any hassle.

what I meant was I'll have to pay the $50 to get a new one, its not really a manu defect when it stopped working from the custom rom
DON'T TELL THEM ABOUT THE CUSTOM ROM!! ARE YOU CRAZY? THATS AN AUTOMATIC VOIDING OF THE WARRANTY!! just play DUMB say you are on stock 2.2 (for added effect mispronounce froyo, say froya or something)
plus i dont think the custom rom broke the button at all, if it was the rom (software related) flashing back to stock would have removed the broken software and your power button would work. and not only did you replace it with a stock firmware...but you flashed 2 and its still broken.
its a hardware problem.
lol no not gonna tell them bout the rom I'm just sayin

My Example of AT&T's Dumbass
I remember back in the days i use to have a crappy old samsung impression and man that thing sucked donkey balls haha, anyways i called AT&T once and i had to pay 50$ for a replacement, the thing is when i got the new one it was still giving me issues (sending text) so i now i had 2 Samsung impressions phones laying around later down the road i ordered a new one but this time i called back and reported that my previous phone they sent me wasnt working and i was very upset so they gave me a credit and i didnt have to pay the 50$, they decied to send me another phone without charge since i payed the first time now i had 3 samsung impression and i just decieded to sell the new one they sent me and i made 100+ too some chick that didnt know squat about phones haha..

Well, to start off the new year right, my original G2x stopped sending/receiving SMS messages under any circumstances, whether it was on wifi, 4G, Edge, or GPRS. I unrooted it and got a new SIM card, still have the same issue (according to the person at the T-Mobile store, I had a "2G SIM card in a 4G phone.") They suggest a whole new phone, and I agree.
One day later with overnight shipping, I get my new G2x, and the first thing I notice is the LG branding in place of the T-Mobile branding. Ignoring that, I turn on the phone only to see dead pixels everywhere, I don't understand how they could have even sent this one out. I call up customer care and they make me go through the whole troubleshooting procedure, and they decided to send me another one. They also told me if this next one had problems, they'd send me a replacement phone of a different model.
So I'm getting a new G2x sent to me tomorrow. I hope this next one works just fine, or I'll have to get a new phone. Also, what replacement phones do they usually offer for the G2x?
I have been through this process, I'm on my third G2x and CC told me if I ha e anymore problems with my G2x then they will give me a different phone.e... When I asked what them replacement model would be the CC Rep told me they could only exchange it for the Sidekick 4G and I told them I would just deal with the G2x and any problems it my have

yea they offer me a sidekick 4g as well, straight up told them no thanks lol, and also i got a replacement that only says "LG" in the front and not tmobile
Guess they got tired of people trading in just for the Sensation 4g.... disappointing.

All of my warranty exchanges have been great! My most recent one had the LG Logo as well. I made a thread about it last month. No problems except a bit of screen bleed.

Thought I'd follow up on my original post. Got my new G2x in the mail, and it's much better. The screen is flawless (no bleeding!), and it was obviously brand new, it still had the original plastic covering on the screen and buttons. Still has the LG branding, but I think I'll live. Overall, a good experience from T-Mobile.

I stay in india.I Brought it from USA (Dont have international warranty )Do i have to send back my phone to usa(my sis stays there) !
-->Is it possible to claim warranty without producing the old phone (If this is possible than i dont need to send my phone back)?
I went through the warranty claim page of LG ,but im unable to figure it out what to do plz help me!

On the g2x if you hold the power and down button, it should just do a master reset, it's not like HTC where it takes you to recovery (correct me if I'm wrong) but just to make sure your unrooted try to download and use a app that requires root

Thanks! so it doesn't boot into a stock recovery mode to master reset, that's weird I could have swore it had a blue boot screen maybe im thinking of my galaxy.
BTW a little ot but im wondering if you know about mobile security from asurion is it free?
I'm just wondering has anybody returned/exchanged a Skyrocket to AT&T with a custom flash counter YES?
I'm having issues with my GPS locking in place and I think my phone might be defective. Unfortunately I didn't realize this until i flashed a few custom ROMs. And since the USB jig doesn't clear the flash counter anymore... i'm not sure what to do.
I'm thinking of just calling AT&T and telling them my GPS is having issues, but i'm just curious if they are going to check the flash counter and void my warranty claim.
Anyone have any experience with this?
Well I did technically speaking but it was hard brick so it didn't matter at all. haha

Yup, means that it was totally hosed.
I guess the AT&T reps don't really look into the phone too much, they just send it back to Sammy? Well that's promising, i'll be sending mine back then.
Did you go into the store or just have them mail a new one?
Corporate location aka in store.

As a former AT&T employee, they honestly don't give a ****, and aren't knowledgeable enough to know what to look for really. If it looks stock, witht he stock boot animation and no SuperUser icon, you're competely fine.
98% of the employees (+/- 5% for pulling that number our of my ass) have no knownledge af the devices outside of what AT&T trains them, and even then it's not much. Last year when the Inspire and Atrix came out, I had to stop my coworkers from telling people they were LTE phones, and even after that they were telling them it was "LTE upgradable as soon as LTE comes to the area" due to sheer ignorance. They just don't give a ****.
I have returned 2 phones with CWM installed. I have also returned 1 skyrocket with stock but the flash counter showed multiple flashes. No issues.

I walked into the store where I purchased mine just this afternoon and swapped it because it has been having all kinds of issues that I was tired of dealing with.
1) Battery life was poor
2) wifi reception was poor
3) battery indicator stuck at 100% until it would drop drastically later, once it even stayed at 100% until it dropped to "your battery is severely drained, shutting down"
After the young lady did the factory wipe/reset she noticed it was running ICS and lectured me that she could get in trouble, but then let me leave with the new phone.

How is it running ICS?
We don't have any ICS roms...
And the best way to return a device with a counter...
Smash it first.
He meant a rom called Ice cream Sandwich. And smashing phone before return is not the best way. You guys need to get older and just use usb jig. If you don't have than Odin it back to stock. this way it will be fine.

The USB jig doesn't reset the counter on this phone, it only helps get the device into download mode.. I flashed Odin with stock TAR and it still says custom
I spoke with the AT&T returns folks yesterday because I'm within the 30 day window and my battery life was sucking. I asked the guy if there would be any issues with the return since I rooted the phone (I "rooted to test ways to improve the battery life" )
He said no, no problem with it being rooted. For the record, I flashed this Rom and my battery life has improved drastically so far
I finally managed to do it. I officially bricked my Infuse. No clue how I did it but it's finally borked for good. Cant access download mode when I try nothing happens. Used 4 different computers, 5 different cords and approx 23 different USB slots. 3 different batteries(just incase it was a bad battery) Nothing haha. Infuse is completely dead!.... My backup infuse is pretty messed up as well (screen is cracked all to hell) This happened after I Heimdall'd my phone phone to clean the slate. It booted up, then bootlopped once then just didnt turn on again.
i would try letting it sit with the battery out overnight then giving it a shot again, also try differnt tools like gtg unbrick
also try using a usb jig
(i once messed mine up badly enough that when you put in in download mode it was a black screen with red green and blue dots on it, using gtg unbrick fixed it for me !
fingers crossed that itll come back to life for ya.
if you didnt open it, crack the screen, or drop it in water, att will replace it under warranty. give em a call tomorrow at 18008011101. have your iemi ready.

The batteries been out for a bit now gonna leave it out and put it in tomorrow see if maybe that does something. If anything theres a couple Infuse 4G's on Craigslist for pretty cheap. And if this one doesnt end up working, I'll throw it up on there for parts, might be useful to someone.
Also I dont have an actuall plan with AT&T so thats a no go haha

if it is that might as well take the whole motherboard and switch it out right??
if you know how to do all that of course
but good luck to you and hopefully its nothing major
warranty is different than insurance. even if you buy it off contract or from someone else, you should still have the warranty. they provide 1 year for all branded phones. its only been on sale for 11 months so everyone should be under warranty.

If your cracked screen infuse still works then I would just swap out the internals. Should be easy enough. I did it to my wife's phone.. screen cracked and we had an identical backup phone that my daughter played with. Swapped out the boards and all was well.

It wasn't going into download mode either and the screen was all pixilated but it worked. Maybe try a different method of reverting back to stock (gtg unbrick)

Gave my little bro the old skyrocket with a stable rom on it since I wasn't using it all that much. He hasn't been the most careful with it (dropped it a few times) but its held up save for a few scratches on the battery door.
Problem is he rebooted one night and this big white line appeared right down the middle of the screen (I honestly think he dropped it and is too embarrassed to tell me). He showed it to me and it only shows up when the screen is on. Booted into CWM, same thing.
Just to clarify, this is definitely a hardware issue right? This probably sounds like a stupid question but he really wanted me to ask... apparently my word isn't good enough cause now hes freaking out about getting the money to buy a new phone.
