The success of that phone depends on its price launch...it cannot compete with GS3
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5wUVKrJUQjg&feature=player_embedded

Coming to the UK in March, so pretty much in line with the Arc last year. Will need to have a similar lower launch price to the Arc if it's going to make any kind of impact.
http://www.techradar.com/news/phone-and-communications/hands-on-sony-xperia-s-review-1053275

now i have sony ericsson arc ..my next phone would be Xperia S

Nice phone, design is little old but 1,5GHz dual core cpu, 1gb ram and adreno 220 will eat all phones

Design is great! I liked both phones that Sony has announced.

Very nice design, hopefully it will have a decent price

Is Snapdragon better than exynos?
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App

I love the dedicated camera button. Why launch the device with GB though? Weird thing to do when every phone coming out at that time will come with ICS. Why use the Snapdragon SoC? That's going to be "old" technology come March. It seems as if Sony Ericsson always find a way to mess up a perfectly nice looking device. :bangs head:

It's the X10 all over again.. Nice screen, nice camera, good chipset, but launches with an old OS and in 3 months the new Galaxy S launches and no one cares about him any more.

Not everyone is going to be wowed that just because it has a quad core.

After dealing (and continuing to deal) with my problems with my captivate (original galaxy s) I will not buy another samsung phone for a least quite some time. On top of that I am a sucker for looks and this phone is beautiful.
The only thing I'm bummed about is that this isn't the one launching on AT&T, I guess it looks too nice to be. I guess I'll just have to shell out however much extra to get one of these unlocked instead.

Beautiful hardware, needs better software.

If just it had the touchpads of a play *daydreaming*

Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium

i think this phone is cool or at least the concept of it is the design isnt bad but im not completely won over to the sony bandwagon yet.

I've had my Xperia Arc for half a year now, and when it gets old and I want to replace it I'll probably get another Xperia phone if Sony keeps making them as good. I'm ok for now, though.

Nice device

Playstation Phone Unveiled -Images-News 28/10 (PSP2 LISTED AT SWEDISH ONLINE STORE)

Today Engaget had leaked images revealing a prototype model of the new upcoming psp phone.
Heres what else they had to say
" ...likely boasting Android 3.0 (aka Gingerbread), along with a custom Sony Marketplace which will allow you to purchase and download games designed for the new platform....sporting a 1GHz Qualcomm MSM8655 (a chip similar to the one found in the G2, but 200MHz faster), 512MB of RAM, 1GB of ROM, and the screen is in the range of 3.7 to 4.1 inches. L...the handset does indeed have a long touchpad in the center which is apparently multitouch,...For Sony buffs, you'll be interested to know that there's no Memory Stick slot here, but there is support for microSD cards.
The particular model in these shots is still in prototyping mode. As such, the unit doesn't have a custom skin (not even SE's Timescape design seen on the Xperia devices), and is said to be rather buggy... but it's likely that much of what we reported earlier is still accurate, and though the device could still be headed for a 2010 release, 2011 is looking much more realistic."

What are your thoughts?
I think it looks great! Hopefully will be the successor to the original psp!
The centre-multitouch pad, to me, looks like a pair of dual analogue sticks
Great XD
Engadget have also claimed that the photos are legit!
This is a device which has been confirmed through multiple, trusted sources.....Even since last night we've received more info about the phone -- learning that its codename is "Zeus,".....it was last seen running Android 2.X (not 3.0, which we suspect will be the shipping version)....device pictured in those photos is a prototype running early software (which would explain the A / B button mention in the photo above) with hardware that was likely hand-built, or at the very least created in a very small batch.

Funny enough, over at webhallen There seems to be a PSP 2 on offer for pre-order for 3,295 kr (US$ 499.5). Could it be a mistake? A blunder? Or Reality?
If they keep the hardware similar to current smartphones there would be no reason some of the games couldn't be run on other android phones. This may be great news

Anyone else not see the point in this?
Why would i pay a ridiculous amount of money for a psp which doubles up as a phone when my psp sits on a shelf gathering dust?
If this was a ps3 portable then i'd be getting excited
this just seems ridiculous, why would they stick with snapdragon? or are they going to put in a different GPU, its a playstation phone so you would expect it to be able to throw around some serious muscle for gaming graphics.
I just dont see the point
Go look at epic citadel for the iphone, we could have games like that, we have the hardware its just the lack of developers
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
True, but its only a prototype so it could change!
Yeah and i agree, they should put a much stronger processor so it can handle some hardcore games!
The only thing i am worried about is if its released with an android os. Then all eyes are going to be looking here, at XDA, waiting for them to release a root so those poor pirates can start their piracy!
Makes me sick!!!
And the developers. Well we wouldn't necessarily need more devs as sony are going to hire them anyways to produce their PSP-like games! Hell they've already started on mortal combat!!!!!!!!
With Tegra 2 phones coming out early next year, why would Sony bring out a phone so behind the curve?

The reason being is that Sony need to get back in the race for portable consoles. With the 3DS coming out next year, and the fact their current PSP failed due to the insane amounts of piracy they need to step it up.
I think its a great idea seing as my current 1000 needs to be replaced with something new and fresh. Remember this is only a prototype and will change in the near future.

That's exactly the point. The reason your PSP sits on the shelf gathering dust is because you don't take it everywhere like your phone. If you could play ghost of sparta or little big planet during your lunch hour instead of wordfeud or paper toss on your phone, wouldn't you?
After the PS Phone release on the market, then somebody will find out how PSP games can be coded for Android mobiles like HTC Desire HD, Samsung Galaxy S etc.
So I am thinking that later they will be able to play Crisis Core on Samsung Galaxy S, HTC Desire HD etc.

Samsung Galaxy SIII S3 & Nexus Prime rumours and specs

Rumours about Galaxy SIII are popping out. If SIII will have all the specs in this article, it's gonna be a blast. Guess we shouldn't worry about our SII getting old yet, cause it will probably take at least one year for SIII to be launched. Here's the article:
http://androidandme.com/2011/09/news/anonymous-4chan-user-lets-not-forget-the-samsung-galaxy-s-iii/
All I can say is WOW!!! That thing will be such a BEAST!!! I cannot WAIT till 2012 now!!! I will have to get the Galaxy NOTE to accompany my SII for now and when the SIII arrives I will definitely snatch it up!!!

I hope one good outcome of all these Apple lawsuits is that Samsung could finally stop designing phones that closely resemble iPhones (Internaional versions of GS1 and GS2 with the big HOME button in the middle) or iPad (GTab 10.1). Making some truely unique looking phones, Samsung.

2.0 ghz quadcore? wow! it'll eat the batt again!
again, batt life will be a major problem, even with the alleged 2250 mah batt
I just heard a rumor that Galaxy S4 will have 4.95 in HD screen with 1680x1050 resolution, Tegra 4 with 8 cores and laser pen with refillable ink that can be used to write on paper or as a stylus on the phone. It also comes with an extended battery that can fit into your other pocket and charges wirelessly to SGS4.

I beg to differ: the majority of the time the phone will be in deep sleep or at minimal (200? Mhz) with minimal voltage.
And according to those rumours, it gonna be 28nm fabrication process (that means lower power consumption).

SGS2 is already enought powerful
All I want to see from the next galaxy s phone is the strength to take a fall without doing any considerable damage, something that is different in design to other phones and to have excellent battery life thanks to efficient power management and frequent updates in the Android OS.

no such thing as "enought powerful"
anyways, the source is 4chan. hardly the most reliable.
The only thing I am interested in are the UMTS band frequencies supported by next devices. I am tired of seeing tri- or quad-band android phones that are not necessarily compatible with every major countries. This means that you have then to wait for a specific version for your country, you are oftentimes stuck with carrier-specific phones, etc.).
And I am not talking about compatibility with new networks (LTE, 4G europe, etc.)...
Take the current generation of phones specs double them, release as rumor about new phone, repeat

One X. After the 4.0.4 update and Sense 4.1. Its an absolute BEAST. Benchmarks better than the SGS3 now and Tegra 3 optimized games will give it the edge in gaming over a slightly better GPU in SGS3
When it all comes down to it. Pure power is so close that software optimizations will be the difference maker IMO

Was notification light ever fixed? That you couldnt manage the colours of the LED notification light made the one X useless, and even if they did they made the light so hard to see......what a pity
Galaxy Note II should theoretically beat all of them (depending on what you mean by "so far").
Not sure anything beats the Razr Maxx in terms of battery.
Xperia V , T and TX benches higher than those phones... lol!
As far as raw power is concerned it´s the S3 , the international - quad core Exynos version .
The Xperia T and V are S4 , so they are at the same level with HOS , american S3 etc.
+1 for mi2
The unlocked HTC One X has my vote. Technically if we're talking about to this date though, its the Galaxy Note 2.
iPhone !
Ofcourse the SGS3. Plenty of power. Just hoping some better optimizing with Android OS.
gs3 absolutely
I vote for One X.
When the Optimus G and Mi2 come out, they will really be the fastest. After doing a bit of research on the processor in them, I would say they will be around 70% faster than the One X or S3.
Its quite annoying, not only is my One X getting outdated fast, its going to be outdated by a lot... Phones move to fast now :/ you can't keep up.
Qualcomm APQ8064 Snapdragon
Quad-core 1.5 GHz Krait
I'd say it would safely handle any of the current games and apps and anything that android can throw at it so far.
My vote goes for samsung galaxy s3
Sony Xperia V!!
galaxy s3 for sure
If youre talking about hardware most people would say the sgs3 but the meizu MX and another phone I can't think of right now (not the one x) are slightly stronger. For the normal phone you word find in stores, it would be the sgs3

[Q] [2013]Which Phone would you recommend

Hi there Xda
It's 2013, they promised the world would end, but APPLE still survived
I am sorry I am on team android
Technology changes so fast and I can't keep up, still I know nothing about the latest releases and I have been using a Galaxy SII and I loved it. Soon I will have to buy a new phone and there were some things I had in mind.
Good Screen Quality
4,5 inch+
Good Battery
Good performance
Rooting
BUILD QUALITY (I am quite unhandy, so I bought a SGII, it feel from stairs, tabels, on the street and it survived, SO YES, this is important
My old phone got stolen , so it's time for something new.
Any advice?
Next time, please use this thread. But try the galaxy s 3, note 2, or upcoming s 4

Willing to spend $10,700 for an android?

So I just saw this article about the Vertu TI - that will cost approx $10,700.
Starts at 7,900 euros, or about $10,700
Specs:
TI a 3.7-inch touchscreen,
a dual-core 1.7GHz Snapdragon S4 processor,
and an 8-megapixel camera.
There’s also NFC and 64GB of internal storage, plus a front-facing webcam.
Clearly the reporters don't know much because they stated that it is Up-to-date with the OS running ICS
"Luckily, Vertu is mostly up-to-date on Google’s OS. Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is installed and it’s smooth and speedy:"
According to reports " the TI is gorgeous, understated, and elegant, while remaining purposeful and unique"
Honestly I think it looks hideous. Esp with that price for the phone it better be made of gold.

I agree. For the price, it seems to fall short on a lot of aspects. They should at least provide something worth the cash (equal to the specs of a mid-high end computer) rather then attempting to exploit people :/
Vertu again? Oh I remember those days when they modified and tried to sell some obscenely overpriced Nokia back in the days when nokia ruled.
Silly ... And by the way, this one here looks kinda ugly and those buttons look really cheap.
