Hi, did you guys see that all the new phones announced at CES 2012 are coming with 2.3 Gingerbread. That's a big FU from the manufacturers.
The CES is the Diet Coke of new phone intros. Just wait for the Mobile World Congress 2012 in Barcelona Spain on 2/27 - 3/1. Samsung will most likely introduce the Galaxy S3 there. The CES this year looks like a dud. Glad I didn't go despite the free tickets.

The second mini-competition in the Ericsson application awards is now starting and the prizes just got bigger and better!

Ericcson, half of Sony Ericcson has announced that they are holding the Ericcson’s Application Awards, Code for Cash 2011 development contest.
The contest, which has a pot of $15,00 euro or around $20,000 American dollars, is open to any team of two or more developers anywhere in the world. The developers must use at least one Ericcson labs API and relate to the theme “Connected Thing”. Members from the full team of Sony Ericcson will help judge the contest.
The contest is in it’s second year. Last year a development team from Ireland won with an application they called “CallerProfiler”. CallerProfiler combined social networking with IP Telephony to display information from social networking sites when a call is received.
The deadline for entries is March 31, 2011 and the winners will be announced in June 2011, and again it’s open to developer teams of 2 or more anywhere in the world. Huawei is planning to unveil its Diamond series Android smartphones at Mobile World Congress [ MWC ] next month. Company is sending invitations for press event which is scheduled on February 26. Huawei has promised to launch its “smartest, fastest and most high-performing smartphone“.......

On October 29th, Rockstar Games' seminal PlayStation 2 hit Grand Theft Auto: Vice City will be 10 years old — and to celebrate the developer is bringing the game to mobile. We don't have much in the way of details just yet, but the game will be available on "a wide range" of iOS and Android devices later on this fall, and will feature "native high-resolution graphics." The port will also include "several enhancements" for the two mobile platforms, though what those extras actually are remains to be seen, as does the game's pricing. The launch follows last year's 10-year anniversary release of GTA III on mobile devices, which means we can likely expect to be playing GTA: San Andreas on our phones sometime in 2014.
