[Q] 4g LTE getting really slow? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

So, I installed a couple of ROMS and suddenly, 4g LTE is only getting a max of 4 mbps when it used to be 25 in the same place. Why is this? BTW I've used around 70% of 2 gb already. Could ATT be switching 4g LTE to 3g after 65%? Or is it a radio issue? I have this issue on stock too.

att is throttling you. Sucks for you.

So I shouldn't worry about this right? They'll reset it when a new month comes?

Add new apn for rite now and you will get hspa+ speed.

If he is on a tiered data plan then it is not throttling. Throttling only applies to unlimited plans.

Not to mention throttling slows it down much slower than that.
It sou DS like you may not be connecting to lte at all....what apns. Are listed under mobile networks

Just wondering if its unlimited or capped at 5gb

Unlimited, the same as every other smartphone on Sprint. The only limit is on data used while roaming.

Yes and no. You have unlimited data yes... but if you pass 5GB of Sprint 4G or in-network 3G for 3 consecutive months, you'll get a call from the compliance department.

So unlimited really isn't unlimited is that what your saying? I just signed up with sprint 2 weeks ago and I am up to 12 gig as of tonight so I guess I should lay low for a bit then. The carriers are making money big time with this bandwidth crap. I use 2 terabite a month on my servers and it cost me 15.00 so I have no idea what all this fuss is about. Thanks for the tip though...

NO you wont. Stop spreading bad information. The only way to get a call or letter from sprint is excessive roaming. Tethering is limited to 5gb. Or torrenting.

Mmhmm
Its unlimited. The only limits are on broadband cards and for the tethering option, IF you pay for that.
I've used no less than 10gb per month since I signed up and there haven't been any calls from anyone.

I'm not spreading bad information. Go to your local (corporate) Sprint store and ask for a hard copy of your contract. It states 5GB on Sprint network, 300MB roaming. The compliance department will only get involved if your line is flagged. Only 2 ways I'm aware of to get flagged, #1 roam excessively (voice, data, or both) for 3 consecutive months, #2 use excessive Sprint bandwidth on a congested tower, or area for 3 consecutive months.
Your bandwidth cap DOES NOT change with the tethering add-on; you are just notified without a hard copy of the existing caps.
It's not Sprint actually supplying DATA services to the towers, but another ISP that sells bandwidth to Sprint. I know that only because I've had to upgrade some hardware at the Notre Dame Campus Sprint antennas, and the internet connection was supplied by Comcast.

32GB is a bit excessive, but this Guy may not have a computer/internet at home so he uses his phone. Literally 2GB can be burned in a day easily, just using it moderately. (ie, how Sprint, VZW, AT&T, etc, portray in their ads)

Data has always been capped. Not to a point where they limit/charge, but if you look at the hard copy (full paper printed copy) it says you have 5GB as stated in the acceptable use policy portion of the contract. Look it up at Sprint.com or a Sprint store.

they throttle the top 5% on unlimited plans. spoke to a rep yesterday. although your usage to me does not look like a 5%'er
My average usage is 2.5 to 3.8 according to the rep I spoke to. He is also curious why I got flagged. He said he will look into it and call me back.

Really??? I get a good 1-1.5 mbps continuous on 3g on my phone and computer when I use the hotspot. I font have 4g in my area to test that though. But when sprint launches their 4g lte in 2013 I will have it hopefully still unlimited too.

Yeah I was super dissapointed they did wimax and not lte.
Realize our 3g speeds are typically 1.5-5 , I have hit 12
When one gets throttled and can accomplish the apn trick...they are hitting 1.5-5 ...throttled
In my case here in Dallas i would get about 400kbps dload in most areas, which is why I left Sprint. Its different from area to area tho.

Yep had sprint for a few years and recently switched to At&t, the switch was night and day. I Showed my phone to a friend that still has sprint and he was amazed at how fast thing were loading especially YouTube videos and I wasn't even on At&t lte. Htc One S on Simple Mobile $40

How does simple mobile's $40 unlimited plan work with the One S?Is any body in here on that plan? If so what is the data speed? I am planning on using the One S on TMO's $30 5gb data plan but the 100 mins is too short. If the SM plan has 3g unlimitted I'd rather sacrifice 4g speed for unlimitted mins and 3g. Thanks.
Sent from my EVO 4G using XDA
I wouldn't go simple mobile because I had the $40 plan back on my amaze and the 3G speeds are a joke. Also if you want to use the internet you must program the APN settings which is annoying and sometimes doesnt work anyways along with MMS.
Sent from my HTC One S
But it is on simple mobile's approved phone list,it even states that it will work on SM's 4g.

Does Simple use T-Mobile's 3G bands? If not, the best you'll get is EDGE.
True, but they cap you at around 1GB of data use on 4G and 3G speeds are the same as EDGE speeds. I never had a problem with simple mobile till last month when they completely cut off my data for going over 1.5 GB on my Nexus Prime. I was on their $60 plan. There are also videos on YouTube that show simple mobiles 3G speeds and why you shouldn't go with them.

im with you... I've tried everything imaginable... at least when verizon had unlimited, it was truly unlimited. I'll never forget a couple years ago when 3G/LTE went down in the Savanahh, GA area when I was stationed at Fort Stewart, I called Verizon and said "Im not getting data, do you throttle services?" Rep said "We shouldn't unless you're in the top 5% of subscribers, let me check your account"... clickety click click click of the keyboard "...oh my. I have to say, that is the highest useage I've ever personally seen. You're at 33 GB of LTE used.". I was only 12 days into my billing period at the time
There is a company called telcel America I used them for 4 months they had unlimited service for 45 a month no throttling whatsoever to the best of my knowledge they ran on on tmobiles network I used 5 gig a month 10 MBS down 2 up 2 weeks ago they stopped but they still have the $60 plan that you get unlimited talking to mexico I think sorry do the badly written post in a rush will update later

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T769 using xda app-developers app
That's what I like about the $30 Monthly4G plan, I haven't hit the 5gb soft cap yet. And vonage mobile works great for extra free minutes.
I used to have the T-Mobile Unlimited 3G plan when I had a BlackBerry, and I would regularly break 20-30GB data on it when I was still going to school and still be able to maintain 3G speeds.
When I upgraded to the Blaze I was forced to switch to their new "Unlimited" plan, which seems to choke the speeds down around 5-6GB. Although this month I'm already around 7GB and I still pull in decent H+ speeds between 8 and 12Mbps, so maybe they only restrict the speeds during peak hours or something.
I have been doing research(ugh. feels like school lol) and I stumbled upon this. Since I've been using the UVMC Radio from the Hercules I think this should work. Note. It says to do these methods before getting throttled. I don't know if it works because I am getting throttled already..

T-Mobile and Throttling?

I'm debating switching from AT&T to TMo solely because I hate monitoring my data to stay below 2GB and I know that TMo wouldn't charge me for going over the cap and I just get throttled.
My cousin has T Mobile but he claims that he's never been throttled even if he goes over the cap. But I've read that others also on TMo get throttle as soon as they got their caps.
Is it random or by chance whether people get throttled or not?
