Check the Bible. There are quite a few Froyo ROMs there that can be flashed with cwm, ODIN, or Heimdall. Just make sure you grab one that has the boot loaders in it.

[ROM] Heimdall Only version of Gingerbread/KF1 with Root: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1333423

If you want to revert back to froyo, the best option would be to use FBs starter pack. Flash the KC1 files in Odin. Then you can flash Dr honks Bali kernal with Odin. Then you can use cwm to flash whatever froyo rom you wish.

This is a leaked GB ROM with borked boot loaders. Not froyo.

The word "Bible" is a link. If you're comfortable with ODIN give this KD1 a shot:

Froyo roms include kb, kc, and kd. The kc1 from "GB starter pack" by fb will get you the right boot loaders and reboot directly to cwm for your flashing convince just make sure you have a froyo ROM to flash on your Sd card before you begin.
Edited for Swypeos

LOL, nah, you're just being honest man. Definitely good advice here, too.

I still dont know what to do... lol

c'mon, you have to at least try. search the dev forum for FB's starter pack, that will get you the files you need for getting back to froyo with the correct boot loaders. Then go to the bible thread (or search the dev forum) and find the froyo roms - KD1 is the latest revision of froyo for this phone. Be sure to read the corresponding threads for the ROMs, since you will need to pay attention to the mounts.
I liked ICBINB froyo, but there are lots of other great roms.

I would do what Exodian said and use Odin. Unless you want to disable Ext 4 if your on it and use CWM to flash it and then aright after flashing the ROM to flash Dr. Honk modified stock recovery through CWM. That's what I did.

Download Whitehawkx Deodexed version HERE
Then download Dr. Honk's stock + Voodoo Kernel for KI1 HERE
Put both those files in your SDCard. Then flash the ROM first then the Kernel right after.

It's not kj6.
Also, my last attempt to use one of these kernels wasn't very successful. Had a couple of little glitches here and there and it drove me nuts.
Now the phone works perfectly on a rooted stock kj6 with junk removed, so I don't feel like risking it, especially not having CWM to backup the stock config.
+1
I am also on stock Gingerbread, rooted, and happy with it. I'd like to install CWM *before* I start mucking about with my ROMs. ROM Manager claims to support it, but it didn't list my phone in its detected devices and then I saw here that one shouldn't use it anyway so I uninstalled it.
So what's the easiest/noobiest way to install CWM on my T-mobile Samsung Galaxy S 4g 2.3.6 rooted?
Heindall.... With the the kj6 kernel in the development forum.

How about you develop a new kernel? All we got is drhonks kj1 and bhundven kj6, both customs... Wait... How you plan to get cwm if you dont "custom" a kernel? Interesting, huh?
You don't need cwm to have an easy way of fixing roms if anything goes wrong, theres always odin and heimdall.

Man you're an arrogant dude. People ask for some help and you tell them to dev a new kernel! Put you're money where your mouth is.
As for the OP I think you get the idea. It's either custom or no go.

Thanks to everyone for their insight. My sgs4g is no more now. Luckily, I learned a lot about flashing with it before it died. Including unbricking. Still haven't gotten heimdall to work. But I think I have been trying to run the regular exe instead of the front end. We'll see. Hopefully I get paid this week to cut on the internet again. Killing me here.
