it wouldn't really be useful for sensation users. the sensation already has software buttons available. having onscreen buttons is a waste of screen real estate. I'm sure that devs can find a way to implement it or enable it for sensation roms but it wouldn't be particularly useful like I said. why have 2 buttons that do the same thing? the screenshots you saw might actually be from a galaxy nexus or shopped

[Q] Launcher carousel lag

Is it just me or is really hard getting the carousel to work. Everytime I try messing around my phone to get the carousel effect I end up selecting something. For the life of me I just cant get the dam carousel effect. Anyone else having this issue?
I don't own it yet, but on all 4 of the sensation's i've had my hands on i thought it was pretty simple. In only two swipes you should be able to get that thing spinning. Oddly enough, I don't really know it adds any real functionality but it does look cool. Are you experiencing any other oddities with your touchscreen or is that it? Just to make sure that it works try swiping across two blank screens and see if you can do it. Two quick little swipes is all it takes.

Having a 2 blank screens may help as I have widgets on all my screens although I shouldnt have any issues to begin with. I have notice in a few evo 3d reviews on youtube that its a lot more fluent and talking about touch response ive notice that sometimes I have to press the power button to be able to select some widgets or icon shortcuts I have on my home screens. Im not liking this at all.

I saw those EVO 3D comparison videos too and was a little shocked. The reason I was shocked is because the sensations that I tried out didn't have any of that lag in the videos. I've also read about some people here saying they have homescreen lag, and others that don't. Have you tried a factory reset? I should have mentioned the devices I tried had all 7 screen loaded with junk, and I was still able to spin the carousel with two swipes.

Lol, yeah I think the one in that video looks pretty nasty. Not a fair comparison at all if you ask me. Maybe it needed to be restarted or something.
works like a charm on my sensation! just one gentle swipe and there it goes...

Just started using mine today and I'm having the same issue...must be a trick to this Sence
Mine is really smooth. It stutters once in awhile, but it's no big deal.
Just exchanged mine at Walmart for the same reason... It didn't recognize fast swipes... Try pulling the notification bar up and down real fast and see if it lets it go.... The new phone I got works fine for now.

Some reported it affected problem, some said it didn't. Pull it off and see for yourself I guess.

The only thing I miss from my Desire. It was so much easier for editing text. Also was good for websites with drop down menu's so you could highlight them.

I had a Wildfire. I kind of miss it. I used to to edit text.
Editing text was the only time I used it. The Sensation is pretty good at going to the right place, though, but it would be nice to have it (or arrows or something on the keyboard)
My last phone was the Hero and I only miss the trackball when I want to move the cursor in text. I never used the trackball for anything else, it's a minor annoyance but I'm sure I get over it.
The track pad was a great tool. I miss it do you.
Conference call
Anyone missing the conference call feature or hand free voice dial?
Yes, I very much miss the trackpad from my Desire. I'm still using my Desire until the sim unlock for the Senstation is available (in Canada). Used the trackpad to bring up the unlock screen and for navigating the text to correct words.
The Sensation isn't too bad without the trackpad so far with the larger screen and new Swype beta. I'll manage without it, but I will miss it.
I tried selecting text on my Sensation the other day and it was horrible. I miss my trackball from my Nexus One, but by the looks of things, Google abandonded the trackball/pad as the Nexus S has neither.
Yes trackball on the N1 was awesome. Differnt color lights for all of your notifications + all the same reasons already mentioned. The notification colors were my favorite though. I knew if i had a voicemail, text, gmail, calendar alert, missed call each had a different color. Unlocking was nice too.
Just get a 3rd party keyboard. most have arrows and there is one with a software trackpad, can't remember its name.. I use Swype..

I would think it would be easy enough for HTC to put a multi color led inplace of one of the existing LEDs. Or maybe multi color LEDs for the capacitive keys. One thing for sure, the colored notifications was a great feature that the dev community perfected.

Is there no way to customize the LED that the Sensation has once the phone is fully rooted?
For why a trackpad when you have a full 4.3 inch touchscreen. Wtf

For those wanting it to edit text you guys can hold it down a little and slide you're finger then the little magnifying thing will pop up. Find that faster and more useful at times

I use Multiling keyboard free from the Market which can jump between characters using the volume rocker. Works very well for me.

Favorite HOX features.

This is a thread to list some cool things you like about the phone. Maybe point out a few things that other people didn't know yet.
For me I would have to say that the keyboard is awesome. Also the fact that it already has a printer option built in. Voice recognition on this phone is awesome. And of course face recognition is great too.

I've been a Swype user since the Nexus One, but I have to say that the Trace feature on the HTC keyboard is impressive. It's noticeably quicker to render words after swyping/tracing. Only downside I've noticed is you can't place the cursor on previous words and choose alternate suggestions. Unless I'm missing an option for this.
Ha. And I though it was an improved swype this whole time
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA
Interesting comment about the keyboard. I'll be receiving my HOX today but most reviews say the HTC keyboard is ****. Seeing the entire row of arrows on the bottom leads me to agree (but then again, I haven't used it yet). How does it compare to the stock ICS keyboard? I don't like Swype so I'm sure I won't ever use that feature.

About that. I tried using the face detect to lock my screen and at first i thought to myself, man does this work well.
Then for fun I had my dad look at the camera and guess what, the phone unlocked itself for him too. Now I know we look somewhat alike, but not that close.
Long story short, I wouldn't trust that feature..

My favorite feature is definitely the screen! I can't keep my eyes off of it. I do not like the HTC Sense keyboard and for those of you that also do not like it you can go to the Play Store and download the stock ICS keyboard and it works great on the One X. It is much more similar to the iPhone keyboard that I am used to and is spaced further apart than stock sense keyboard. Also, you get more screen room for viewing while texting or writing messages if you use the stock ICS keyboard.

It works for pictures of you as well... It can't distinguish depth.
Well they're working on a modified face unlock that requires you to blink so picture would be useless.

The apps button on the lower right is the coolest so far for me. Swipe up to close apps and you can open any recent apps...
It takes the only good feature of the Blackburry playbook and adds it to Android. Sorry if this is old for HTC... first one for me.

I personally hate this feature. A dedicated button? I liked long press home. Now I don't have a quick way to search plus I haven't found a way to assign a long press action to any of them.

Once we have root it should be long press home button for recent apps, multitask button as menu button, and long press multitask for search. I miss voice search lol it was easier on an inspire

From what I can tell, by swiping the recent application does not close the application. I have opened several apps and then hit the home button then the recent applications button and swiped them... then opened up the apps again and they are right back where I left them. I think it only deletes the recent app bookmark and not closes the app itself.

Turning of backlight on buttons.

Hi everyone. Could someone point me to where I can disable the backlight on the capacitive buttons? Find it annoying they stay on while watching video in a dark setting. Thanks
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA
I'd like to know, too. Very distracting when watching Netflix in a dark room.
That will most likely be something fixed in a ROM...there is not a way I know of to disable with stock ROM..be a while since bootloader is still locked as of today..checked htcdev.com today...bummer..

Don't get me wrong--I am thrilled with this phone. But I find it completely shocking that nobody at HTC ever tried to watch a video on it and said, "hey, these three bright lights are really freaking annoying!"
I actually have the opposite problem. Half the time my backlight does not work. It will work awhile after reboot but then will stop again. Not sure how to fix it.
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
I've used the app adjbrightness in the past. I haven't tested yet because it requires root and haven't rooted yet. hope this helps.
I would also like a solution for this.
Lots of little quirks with the software where you'd think HTC would have noticed it. This is a big one in my opinion.
How in the world could you forget to time out the lights when a video is being played. Or give a setting for it.
How could you leave out the stock keyboard and ONLY provide your crappy bloated Sense keyboard? atleast have it installed, so users can have the option.
In the browser, wheres the tab button? why have the user hop through menus and different windows when Tabs are the FUTURE! and stock on ICS.
HTC RUINED! the browser.
Excellent hardware, brought down by senseless sense designers.
Sense UI makes absolutely no sense.

Addicted to hardkeys/S2W

Okay, this may be dumb but I am wondering if I am the only one thinking about this. Currently, I am rocking the latest ICS version of venom and beast mode kernel. At first I though sleep to wake was really cool. Recently, however, I have come to depend on it. It is so awesome to be able to wake my phone from the front (like an iDevice) and now I even am starting to hate that I can't sleep my iPad from the front the way I can with my HOX.
Typically I just enjoy my phone and at the same time look forward to future hardware improvements. Sadly, however, it looks like HTC and others are going with on screen keys in increasing numbers. Its sad to think that my next upgrade may result in a loss of functionality (and maybe even less usable screen real-estate.)
Am I the only one?
Sent from my HTC One XL using xda premium
i agree, i'm really liking s2w and on-screen keys are NOT cool.
You are definitely not the only one. I completely depend on s2w. I used a JB sense ROM the other day and I don't know how many times I tried to use s2w. Went back to JellyBam and Rohans kernel with a quickness. And yes, on screen keys would suck. Never used one like that but I feel like I'd hate it.

Thanks for enlightening me! I still prefer the screen of my HOX to my buddy's N4 but it's nice to know that s2w is possible!
:good:
I felt the same way about screen real estate, but I realized its a matter of perspective. Look at your phone. Look at the hardware keys. Now imagine your screen extending to where they are. Your screen is bigger. Now imagine that when you need them, those buttons can pop up, and when you don't need them they can go away.
Its a glass half empty or glass half full issue. My buddy says "depends on whether you are drinking or filling the glass" I say true. You need to ask yourself if you want the overall phone to be bigger or not because that's really the only thing that is changing. A 3.7" screen with hw buttons could be 4" without. Or conversely a 4" screen would end up 3.7" if you put those buttons under it and kept the phone the same size overall.
Sent from my HTC One XL using xda app-developers app
Opposite for me, the only thing I liked about my gnex was the on screen keys and being able to remap them to what I want and change their color etc.
Especially with PA newer feature where they have per app color.
I'd look forward to a HTC device with on screen keys.
