Help with overclocking. - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'd like to know if anyone has made a kernel that supports overclocking past 1.68 Ghz, and what app they use for controlling the core voltages.. I've used SetCpu, Antutu, and Voltage Control, but neither of them seem to do anything regarding controlling core voltage.. Help me out people, and I'll try to return the favor!

Does he have kernels for 1.68+ ghz? All I've seen is 1.68 max.

And does anyone know how to adjust voltages from terminal emulator?

There are no kernels over 1.68 Ghz becuase they would be unstable. In my case, I cannot go over 1.6 Ghz without my tablet hard resetting. So the answer to that question is no.

I love Setcpu because you can easily control the voltages, your kernel must support it thought. For example, I am running Clemsyn's and his DOES allow voltage modifications.
I pushed the wrong button and quoted myself XD. Disregard last post.

I'm running the blades kernel right now. And I think if someone created a test kernel, my Transformer could run about 1800mhz.. I run 1680 all day long, stress tests only get to 56 degrees celsius, and I have an extra 50 or 100 mV left until I hit the 1500mV cap.

Overclock infuse gingerbread

Hi,
Can i ov the infuse gingerbread more than 1.6ghz, with froyo the maximum is 1.8ghz.
Thank in advance

U cant go past 1.6 ghz. The 1.8 ghz kernel is not really 1.8. Bedwa had his calculation wrong so the 1.8 kernel is more like 1.5ghz

No, with Froyo or ANY kernel on our device the max without bus overclocking is 1.6 GHz. It is a solid physical hardware limitation. Anyone who claims otherwise misread the processor manual or made a mistake in their PLL settings calculations (which bedwa did with Infusion and he admitted to his mistake - if you had bothered to read the Infusion thread you would know this.)
With bus overclocking some people hit 1664 MHz, but most people had incredibly unstable devices there. It's a LOT harder to bus-overclock a device than multiplier-overclock the CPU core.

[Q] No gpu OC yet?

Why hasn't anyone over clocked the gpu yet?? I only see cpu overclocking in ics...
Everyone's waiting on you. Hehehehe...J/K...never knew there was overclocking for the GPU on HC.
Yes there is I use test 13 at the moment and all hes kernels have gpu oc to 420mhz or there abouts if i remember correctly

At 425mhz which is what was used on blades kernel it was unstable for some so if you want to use your gpu as a toaster or want a semi brick at best then by all means go 500 hell 700mhz

Overclocking

To those rooted users, are you overclocking, undervolting? What app / method are you using? How is it working for you in terms of stability and battery life?
I just installed EZOverClock, set at Power Save - 1ghz. This is an overclock app for the Prime that works on our device as well. If you are interested in checking this out, the apk can be found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1526311
I am hoping for some solid battery savings without compromising performance on games such as MC3.
I find it hard to believe that I am the only one overclocking this device?

I dunno man I haven't found a way to get root yet haha For the others I have no idea

I'm underclocking using system tuner pro, setting max cpu at 880mhz when not playing games. As for undervolting afaik is not possible yet, at least in the stock rom.

Im overclocking it to 1.4 Ghz 100% of the time using antutu cpu master.
I havnt experienced any significant battery droppage and it seems to help load some of my large games faster. overall I like having it OC'd.

What speed do you take it up to for gaming? Why do you use system tuner pro vs. easyoverclock?

I have run the games at 880mhz and they run pretty much the same, but when my pad is not connected to a power outlet I set it at 1.1ghz to run all the high end games (THD, etc.). If I have it connected I just max it at 1.5ghz
I don't use ezoverclock since it won't let me go lower than 1ghz and as far as I remember ezoverclock didn't have governors, STP lets me change governors (I'm always set at interactive).

Yes, you need root.
I only use OC for Testing, Benchmarks and 3D Games.
But must say when I run it on 1500Mhz and Performance for more than 45 Minutes the Pad gets really warm.
Im at 1.2ghz right now, might underclock some more.

I did some testing and the kernel does not overclock to 1.5ghz its a miss read on the chip. 1.2ghz and 1.5ghz score the same on quadrant and antutu benchmark do this urself and see.

I can confirm this, with the stock kernel even though I can set the CPU to 1.5 even when I set it to the "performance" setting (the CPU options one, not the Asus setting) I've never seen it go past 1.1 Ghz. I think if we want higher OC's we'll have to wait for custom kernel's. We'll probably lose the 3 performance modes that are built-in from ASUS but honestly, anyone who's rooting and OC'ing shouldn't be using options that basic anyways.

Yes but the options are just underclocking
Powersave- 1ghz
Balanced-1.1ghz
Performance-1.2ghz
The battery consumption difference between powersave and performance is minimal been testing this myself.. but to be honest after buildprop tweak an overclockis not needed everything runs at optimal performance. Only thing i see overclocking for right now is show off high numbers.

My tablet is still locked so I don't have experience regarding frequencies and voltages with it. But my phone reboots in CPU intensive tasks when I lower the voltages too much (as with PCs). Since every CPU is unique you need to find the right combination for you. Be careful not to fry it.

experience on 1.7ghz

would like to ask how is experience on an oc kernel @1.7ghz? getting reboots? crashes?
with my phone: some people have stronger cpu's and can get from 600mhz to 906mhz i can only get to 878 is this the same for the 300T? because mine has no reboots at all, no crashes/freezes nothing! and it is running constantly @1.7ghz
EDIT: is there an oc kernel available that goes to 1.8ghz? because i want to give it a try!

1.7 should be stable, I just posted a link to a 1.8ghz kernel if you check my post history, the amount you can over clock any CPU is different as every CPU is slightly unique, for us if you have a higher revision of the tegra 3 it should over clock to tf700 levels we just don't have any kernels pushing it that far
