USB wont mount on any computer or in linux. HELP!!!! - T-Mobile LG G2x

My G2X will not do anything other than charge on any computer I plug into and including Ubuntu on my own computer. Windows says something about an error on the device but other than that there is no way you would even know its plugged in. Any help on the situation would be greatly appreciated and Im sorry if I am bringing up an old topic. I cant find an answer anywhere.

Reinstall lg drivers, if you have or haven't installed them already.

Did you install the LG USB drivers?
http://www.lg.com/us/support/mc-support/mobile-phone-support.jsp

easy fix you need to get into the hidden menu 1809#*999# go to the usb settings and reset them or change it to ap instead of cp also not any of the uart settings

That's not necessary for linux though.

Update
I am running Tsugi 12-7 which is a stock 2.3.4 rom with updates added in. I have tried reformatting both the internal and external sd cards. I have also tried removing the ext. sd card along with the battery. I cannot access the hidden menu either. Any other suggestions or information needed please respond. I am seriously in the s**t without being able to mount.

another thought
i am preparing at the moment to return the phone back to stock and rooted so that I can access the hidden menu. Is this the only way I can fix the problem. Does anyone know what caused it in the first place. It screwed up right in the middle of a file transfer.

[Q] SuperOneClick broke my USB?

Well a few days I rooted with SOC worked for a couple days now USB doesn't work at all. It charges just fine but computer does not recognize an external device, nor does my SGS4G. This has been happening with multiple computers and multiple cables, which are the 2 solutions I have found. And yes, I did try restarting my phone, toggling debugging mode, toggling SD card mount, etc.
Thank you for any help I can get.

Interesting problem. I've not used SOC so I may be useless here, but have you tried unrooting with SOC to see if it solves the problem?
If its not recognizing your external SD card have you tried reformatting it?

I could, but it's not recognizing a connection. When I try to tether it says "USB not recognized". I think it's more low-level than the SD card.
Have you tried downloading the drivers again?

I don't think it's a driver issue, neither my Windows 7 box, nor my CR-48 (Chrome OS) see it as a device. If I had bad drivers it would say "unrecognized device", right? It's just allowing electricity, not data to go over the cable.

Have you tried a factory data reset? Heck, maybe just shut it off, remove the battery, put it back together, and hope for the best?
ok....here is what i did....power down, remove sim card and sd card...power up,plug into computer...it recognizes the phone....so it has to be the sd card i would assume...at least it worked on mine....try it,and let us know please?

Yeah, my bad. I saw that in the OP and forgot. What ROM are you running on it? Would it be worth your time to flash a different ROM to see if it makes a difference?
Could be a hardware issue & possibly unrelated to SOC. I'm not a hardware guy, though, so I'm not sure what tools you need/can create to test the USB port.

I probably can't give you a great explanation, but CWM is the ClockWork recovery Mod. It's a mo-better recovery mode for the phone.

if you were to use superone click always use rage against the cage...
also if you have issues with your phone stick it in download mode and plug it into the pc if it was a rom issue your pc would pick it up as download mode is done by the bootloaders not the rom... if it sill not working eather a you have a faluty cable can happen b you do have messed up drivers c you have a debunk usb port... if you still have root access.. you can still instal a new rom just goto krylons cwm final thread use search kinda hard to miss its called KRYLONS CWM FINAL download the files stick them on your sd card ... eather downoad to yuour device directly or use a usb card reader..
oh and for odin to work right 99 percent of the time yuo gotta plug the usb cable into the PORT YOU INSTALLED THE DRIVERS ON
Well, I was able to get USB recognized ONCE, on my laptop that I use for the charging. So, it gets plugged in every day and got recognized once. Unable to reproduce.
I have the same issue, have you tried going settings>wireless and network > Usb utilities click connect storage to PC and then connect the usb cable?

[Q] LG USB Driver won't install successfully

Okay I have search XDA and LG AND google search for this problem and have not found any solution to what I'm going through. Here's a little background on my phone
T-Mobile G2x rooted with the ROM HellFire Phoenix V2.1
Before today I was able to mount my SD card to my computer with no problem seeing I've had the phone since it came out. Today my computer showed it was installing the drivers but gave me a message "device drive was not successfully installed...usb composite device failed. Now I have used different usb ports and different usb cables and my computer is STILL giving me the same message!
I have even uninstalled the drivers and reinstalled them and still coming up with the same issue. I even restarted my computer after each and I keep coming to the same issue. Can someone please give me a solution to this frustrating problem? It would be greatly appreciated!
Same exact issue except on 2.2
I think you mean HFP, hfs is only up to 1.7

Yeah I made sure USB debugging is indeed checked, and when you say try the opposite meaning what? uncheck debugging...reboot then check it again?
The drivers are being downloaded from the LG Mobile Support tool program that downloads and installs the latest drivers. Which can be found here http://www.lg.com/us/support/mobile-devices/phone-support
I even posted on the LG forum as well, got a response from an employee who told me basically what I had been doing, uninstalling , restart the computer, reinstall, restart again and then connect my device and STILL the same message. I have no idea why its doing this, its never done this before unless there was a new Windows update or something but there hasn't been. Oh and my Windows is Vista by the way in case anyone was wondering.
I used B2CAppSetup.exe From LG. I was having the exact same issue, this solved it. I uploaded it here: http://www.mediafire.com/?e2vnaw5a0ljljj4
EDIT: Vista or Seven - make sure you right-click the .exe and Run As Administrator.
I had the same issue with HFS so I just started taking the card out of my phone and putting it directly into the computer.
I had this issue a while back after re-installing the drivers. Plug the phone in and the little systray icon would tell me the usb composite device failed.
What worked was going to the device manager and installing drivers from there, but instead of browsing to the drivers as I tried many times the solution was letting Windows choose. It popped up with two choices the generic usb composite device and the LG phone. Picked the phone and I was good to go.
Hope this helps someone and if it does please hit the thanks button.

Thats the exact program I have been using and I still have the same issue, I'm thinking of just going back to another ROM since it seems to be an issue with HFP then I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one with this issue.
On the stock ROMs you had to set it for USB file sharing only and then actually enable file sharing once it's plugged in. I can't try anything but a stock ROM (running BB 3/2012) at the moment.
Not sure if HF is the same way.....
Antivirus
Once I had driver issues because of an overzealous Antivirus. Try uninstalling the drivers, restart, disable the antivirus, and reinstall.
I have a question for you guys, I tried restoring to a previous Hellfire ROM i backed up thinking that would work and it didn't.
So what happens if I can't get this to work? Without me being able to access my external/internal SD cards I can't load a new ROM or anything even if i wanted to unroot the phone and get another one from T-Mobile I can't or can I?
Is there any other way to restore back to factory settings without connecting to my PC? This is highly frustrating and i have NO idea why my phone and PC aren't working together like they did before in the past.
Did you run as administrator?
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
Yes i have done everything. Run as administrator, restarting my computer after every uninstall and re-install of the drivers, made sure USB debugging was checked, even restored a previous ROM i saved thru clockwork-mod and when i connect the phone through the USB to my computer i keep getting the USB composite device failed.
Nothing seems to work, so I'm thinking of just accepting that its not going to work and save up and get a new phone eventually which sucks cause since rooting the G2x I love it more than when it was stocked.

Ok mshoney6, Here is your solution: (you can thank me later)
After much digging and searching, searching, searching I found this driver and I uploaded it for you. Get it HERE: http://www.mediafire.com/?ahc3iklqmoa0gnc
First, go to your control panel > add/remove programs > and uninstall ANYTHING LG! This includes the Mobile Support Tool.
Second, make sure your phone and USB cable are not connected to your pc.
Now, right-click the file you downloaded above and "Run As Administrator".
DONE! Connect your phone to the PC and Viola!

Unknown Device...No Pc Root?

Alright, here's the low down...
My Thunderbolt does not recognize in ANY computer (Ubuntu Linux, Mac OS X, Win XP, and Windows 7.
Device Manager comes back with Unknown Device (USB NOT RECOGNIZED)
Yes I've Tried...
Factory Data Reset
HTC Drivers
ADB Drivers
Downgrade to RUU 2.11.605.5 (and it worked but did not fix pc recognizing phone)
Every sort of Windows Update Fix/Fix it program
Kicker...no Warranty purchased the phone off Craigslist
Anyway to root without a PC? I know from the 24 hours of Web Searching and asking as many people that know anything about a computer have shown that its faulty hardware...
Can I customize an RUU to install a different recovery? Include CWM in recovery.img in a signed ruu update?
Big donation to the Dev who comes up with a root apk...

Either that or you may have a broken charging port also. That could be a broken charging port on your phone. Not always is a usb cable fault. But like Imx said, just calm down and youll see the light at the end. After all, youre using an unbrickable Galaxy 4g. Which worst case scenario is the most simple to apply unbrickable mod.

guys, ive been messing around now for about 5 hrs trying to get this thing going and no luck. i know there has to be a way. this is a list of things that ive tried and any other suggestions would be very helpful.
*tried a different usb cord
*used usbdeview to delete anything android/samsung related
*tried another laptopkn
*tried another sgs4g (which one click will say connected but then if i try my phone it wont)
*deleted all known drivers samsung/android related
im going to the store now to see if i can get a brand new usb cord and see if that helps. other than that fellas im clueless as to why i wouldnt be able to get one click to see my device. its almost as if the device doesnt know what it is. but sometimes by chance when i plug it in to my computer it will try to install and if i have one click open it will say connected and the drivers are being detected and then when the drivers fail it becomes disconnected.
Anyone have anything else i can try???
Install Heimdall.
Plug in phone, while it's on download screen.
Launch zadig.exe from the Heimdall\Drivers folder.
Options->List all devices.
Choose the Samsung one... I'm away from my computer so I can't give you the exact name, but I think it's Samsung Composite Device.
Change the driver to libusb0.
Install/replace driver.
Restart computer.
Log into computer.
Restart phone.
Flash successfully.
I remember seeing somewhere that once on mtd the phone responds to the Google drivers. You can install those from the android sdk. Don't know if that would help, but worth a shot if you don't have those drivers installed.

A little help please..

Well, I'm having a bit of trouble with my phone now..
I tried to reflash XBSall's original ICS using the LGFlash Tool, and after the flashing process, I can't seem to turn on my phone at all.
I get an error that I hadn't encountered when I first flashed ICS onto my phone. You can see the error in the screenshot I have uploaded [Error Screen.JPG]
If anyone has any ideas on how to fix this, that would be great. I am still able to boot into the S/W flash thing (which I also have in my attachments, it's number 1 of the images[DSC_0029.jpg] )
Thanks for the help, XDA. In the meantime, I'll see what else I can do.
I have created a thread about this in the Thrill4G forums, but I know that this forum is more active, so I posted it here as well in order to (hopefully) get more responses. Sorry if this is considered a spam.
Can you boot into recovery? If so, wipe everything and try again.
Are you sure you did all of the steps in the tutorial right?
Did you install the OMAP4430 driver?
Also, did you change the port of the LGE CDMA USB SERIAL PORT to com41 in your device manager?

I cannot boot into any recovery. Heck, my phone won't even show the LG Logo when I hold the power button.
I did all the steps right (I've even posted a tutorial that has helped a few others to do this, which is pretty ironic), and installed OMAP4430 drivers, AND changed the port to com41.

Nope, I can't seem to get into download mode. The only thing that works right now is that S/W [insert Asian characters here] screen.
That s/w screen is similar (but not the same) as the one I get in download mode. I just checked again and I get a black background, 2 arrows making a circle and underneath it says S/W followed by some Korean.
Have you tried plugging in your USB and opening device manager to see if its recognised?

Yes, the device is recognized when in the S/W screen. I was able to change the port to com41 as well, so I could try to flash some .bin files with the Android system, because currently all it's able to do is erase the partitions, and not actually write anything to it.
It's also worth noting that at one point, I got Gingerbread to work. But, me being stupid, I tried to reinstall ICS, and the whole thing broke down on me. HOWEVER, when I was in Gingerbread, it told me my internal memory was corrupted. Would this make any issues when I try to reflash things?
I'm not very experienced at this but a corrupt internal memory doesn't sound healthy. All you can do is try to flash a ROM and hope for the best.

Already tried flashing a few, nothing seems to go past that OMAP error I keep getting.
Thanks for the try though.

Your internal memory is not corrupted , you just didn't format your Internal SD space when you came back to Gingerbread thats why you had that message.
So thats not the issue...
Actually from what you describe so far your phone is OK.
If nobody can help you fix it until next weekend when i 'll check XDA again i 'll show you how to fix it. (unless i m too busy)
