Hi, im interesting in finding solutions to In-App advertisement and was wondering if you could give advice on which ad network is the best one. I was using Admob and was doing really well in generating revenue but without giving me notice via email etc.. they deactivated the account. Ive been researching into this problem and many other people faced the same problem. I am now interested in joining another ad network and was hoping if you could suggest to me which company is reliable etc...
Thanks ppl

I would assume that admob is reliable i have heard some horendous stories about ad blocking as well..Normally all the ad networks have some kind of activities to detect fraud & block accounts which (may not be perfect) you might be a victim of that..
admob is good you can also try adiquity,smaato,inmobi,mobclix...
Out-of-app ad network for Android
Why in-app advertising, if I may ask?
I've been using Sellaring for a month now and making a good income (I have one app, eCPM $5.20). Their ads are out of app, and that's an advantage because my users don't get disturbed while using the app.
You should look into it unless you're set on in-app...

Hey Guys,
I have a app developed that I have been charging for use, but i am thinking about switching to a ad model and make my app free. I was wondering what advertising options are out there.
I know that admob owns a pretty big market share, but was wondering what are my options regarding how best to choose an advertiser, what are the other advertisers I have to choose from, and is there a benefit of one advertiser vs. another? Which one would pay more? I know this is dependent on how popular my app is.
Thanks for any info provided!!!
I personally use AdMob in my app. It also integrates Google AdSense ads into your app for when AdMob doesn't have an ad to show. I only just released my app a few weeks ago, but it seems like it will generate a pretty decent revenue. I searched before I implemented AdMob, but I really didn't find anything else.
Ed
wow...so admob has a monopoly of sorts in the market eh? So people use admob or get no ad revenue at all?
What about for the apple iphone? I heard there was iAds, and I guess admob as well? Is one better than the other?
can anyone provide anymore insight, or know of a forum which is popular among android/iphone app developers to better answer my question? There don't seem to be that many app developers browsing these forums.
thanks!!!
Personally, i use admob and have 2 apps using it. I don't make much from it (usually around $0.20 a day) but it's better than nothing i guess
As for which ad company to use, it doesn't really matter. They all pay out roughly the same: Millennial, AdMob, JumpTap, MobFox, etc. It's just down to personal preference really

Can you briefly say something about your app? Is it game and what kind?
How many downloads have you had so far?
When it comes to in-app ads the industry offers much more than just regular banners. There are other ad formats that deliver much higher cCPM than banners but their implementation depends on the kind of app you have.
I work for LeadBoltApps - our speciality is Content Locks for example; Ad mob is mostly banners; Airpush does Push Notifications and so on. Hope that helps.
My experience with Ad Networks
I have a weather app and needed to get ads going immediately at launch to fulfill my contractual obligations for the weather data provider.
I tried both Inmobi and Millennial Media. The problem with Inmobi is that they want to review your app and approve it for ads once it is up and available from the store.
Millennial Media was much easier to work with. Ads were running in my test app even before launch. There wasn't any manual approval hurdle to jump through.
I also tried to work with YP.com (AT&T Interactive) since my app uses location and they pay good rates for local ads. They wouldn't talk to me until I get 1M pageviews per month.
I just bought a Samsung Galaxy Player with the intentions of using it as a wifi phone as a replacement for my cell phone.
The main reason for this is I don't like all the tracking going on with cell phones. Cell phone tower tracking, Carrier IQ tracking, etc., etc. I'm not doing anything illegal and I'm not a conspiracy nut, it's just the principle of it. I'm an American - I'm suppose to have freedoms and be able to have my privacy if I so choose.
I had planned on using either Skype with an online phone number or Google Voice to get voice on my Player. The problem with this is Google is going to track every wifi hotspot I log in from so I'm kind of back at square one - EVERYONE wants to spy on you these days. Not to mention all the criminals trying to get personal info at public hot spots.
So I thought about a VPN. That would stop Google/Skype from tracking the wifi hotspot I log in from. But, how does one find a VPN service that you know without a doubt is trustworthy??? I've even thought about getting my own VPS and installing OpenVPN myself (found a good service for that if anyone is interested). But from a true anonymity standpoint it would be better to use a VPN service who has many other customers all using a shared IP. Plus I'll use the same VPN service for my desktop and it would be nice to log into some websites from another countries sometimes.
I've also looked into setting up my own Asterisk server but haven't had time to get too in-depth with that yet.
Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
That's a bit much. I think skype is safe, though.

Leadbolt is provides ads in the notification of andoid similar to airpush. In order to opt out you go to their website where they request your mei imei id. Is it safe to provide this?
Thanks

Yea, it's just a unique identifier for these networks to add to their list so those IDs never get served ads.

I don't know who Leadbolt is, but that aside if you are wondering about whether they (or anyone for that matter) are or not. I would suggest researching about them first via third party reviews, and/or whois domaintools, wikipedia, types of resources. The reviews that are not generated by sites that do not bias their reviews due to being erm bribed for want of a better word will obviously be more accurate as to their legitimacy so sticking to well known and trusted review sites is a good start. I use WOT (web of trust ff addon) to help weed out the bad sites, it's not perfect, however it is far better than using nothing at all. This way you can get an idea if they are trustworthy or not. And if they are new new new I would be more careful as malicious groups start again with new names etc... once their old ones are burned out and no longer provide the gains they are looking for. Hope this helps
Generally speaking, you should never give out your IMEI to anyone.....especially an ad company asking for your IMEI tempting you with not receiving anymore ads? Sounds extremely fishy to me.
Unfortunately I did give my number before seeing other posts.
I do have a problem that may be a result of the foolish move or it may be unrelated. So far I see the problem with one particular website.
If I go to the a particular restaurant's website Eclipse D Luna found by google search, it is hosted by dudamobile. I believe the website is legit as it looks legit from a computer and I think dudamobile is a legit site that transform peoples websites for mobile phones. However when I navigate to the restaurants menu the page is filled with spam (i.e levitra, viagra ads) ?
Leadbolt is a notification ads provider (they also do banners and others). They use IMEI not to show you the notification ads. They are legit, you can give them your IMEI.
'ad.leadboltads.net' is Malware

LEADBOLTADS IS MALWARE! DO NOT GIVE THEM ANYTHING!
My browser started popping open on reboot/start up to their page with advertising.
This behaviour is known as malware.
Lookout Security & Antivirus found mine in ChargeBar Free Edition,
ChargeBar came embedded in the NottachTrix 2.3.0 ROM.
I installed it (NottachTrix) and it (ChargeBar) didn't update for 3 months, then, BANG.
I've deleted ChargeBar's update, moved it from system apps to apps, deleted it, and the browser pop open 'ad.leadboltads.net' still persists.
Lookout Security & Antivirus can not find the new location of the malware, they do not have a forum.
By the very definition and behaviour, this is malware, and, ChargeBar (Asgard Casino Apps) is involved in the distribution of malware.
Asgard Casino Apps distributes 34 apps that behave this way.
They are using Google Play Store to distribute this malware, abet, that app is benign in its origin, its a pipeline, or conduit for malware.
Sneaky F##kers aren`t they.........
#1) I would like to get this crap off my phone.
#2) I need to bring this to Google's attention, and have the developer and apps banned from the Play store.
Sooo, starting with #1,,,how do I get this crap off my phone!
NOTE:
I will be linking to this post in the NottachTrix post, I'm asking the developers to to move ChargeBar from the ROM zip.

One of your ads just redirected me to a site that told me that my Samsung Galaxy tab 3 got infected by a virus!
I didn't even click on it, I think.
The message was in my native language (german)
Pls try to fix this!
Some users could fall victim too such scams.
I guess your possibilities might be limited but maybe you can talk to your ad delivery networks to ban such ads and use better techniques to prevent such ads from appearing on their networks. (other websites have these issues as well)
This definitely wasn't a nice experience.
Sometimes ad blockers have their advantages (blocks viruses/scam/phishing) so if you don't want to loose people and get no money for showing ads you should do something about this
Regards,
Djfe
Why on earth did you click on the adverts?
I'm fairly sure most users will be more suprised by the fact that there are still people who don't use an ad blocker, especially on a tech site.
XDA doesn't individually approve each ad. Those are generated by, ususally, Google Adsense, based on your own browsing history.
Not to mention, nobody here should ever fall for 'you Android device has a virus'. This is a website for developers by developers. The fact that Android can't be infected by a virus is common knowledge to everyone here. XDA users are too tech-savvy to be fooled by something that ridiculous.

upto some extend you are right but sometime you should allow some non-intrusive adds to get displayed. Well those people who are non rooted may face such problems. Well the websites like xda, facebook and countless more are working because of adds...i am not against the add blocker but its not always advised.

Most of us use Tapatalk or the XDA app when on our Android devices. Those don't show apps
I'm not rooted either. You don't need root to use Adblock Plus in Firefox, even on Android. It's just a plugin in the browser.
Most of us are more than willing to help XDA by paying (For instance for the XDA Forum app), but we refuse to have to deal with intrusive ads. (Ironic, since I'm in advertising.)
Facebook isn't working because of the ads. Facebook is working because they earn millions selling your data.
i won't go into details

allow some advertisements. won't gonna debate what anybody i know what all websites to...:good:
Well If I have clicked on the adverts then that was accidentally
yes most users on here are technical, but some are also noobs trying to search for roms for their devices
Android can be infected by viruses but not without the users interaction (the play store is pretty safe so you would need to download apps from suspicious sites)
Android only cannot be infected by drive-by-downloads
and no website would be able to warn you about something like that
I know that xda cannot filter adverts, but Google adsense might be able to do that if you report malicious ads to them
I'm waiting for the last promised update for my device (Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 -> Kitkat)
then I will root it/switch to a custom rom
on my rooted smartphone I'm using an adblocker (that replaces the host file)
Firefox isn't really good, the performance is very bad and it is still very buggy on some unoptimized sites
else I would use it
Chrome works the best on my devices
FF might work better on high-end devices/current devices but I don't own one at the moment (my devices are from 2011 and 2013)
I have always known that companies like google and facebook for example collect our data, web searches etc and sell this information for profit. Today, this has become an even bigger issue with what we see in the media with the nsa and other government organizations tapping into our devices and monitoring our usage. At the end of the day, most of us, myself included really dont have anything to hide, so it may not be a real issue. I have often thought that if anyone poked around in my pc or phone they would simply get bored as they are just full of geeky engineering files lol. The real thing for me is simply that it's an invasion of privacy and just not right. With that said, I find myself wanting to go the extra mile to make my pc and my phone completely private from outside sources taking my information, watching my web searches and seeing my data. My question is, is it possible to be 100% secure and private, and if not, how close can we get, and how? I have heard that VPN's can achieve this. Is this true? and if so are there any free secure VPN's for our android devices and or pc's that are really good? Do VPN's slow down our devices? Also, Is there a way when we delete android files to permanently delete them? I noticed when I flashed my rom, after doing the complete wipe that is still contains files from before the wipe.
(I know this isn't a pc forum, I only included the pc because it's relevant.)
Thank you all in advance.
There are no data retention laws in the United States. Meaning, if a data center does not want to hold any logs to their users' activity, they're not required by law to do so. Multiple countries are similar, which is why I recommend using Private Internet Access for your VPN. They have a client for PC and Android and they're really great. I've been using them for many years and have had no issues. And, if you're really wanting to remain "anonymous", you can pay for your VPN subscription using gift cards from popular outlets like Walmart, Starbucks, etc. And for search engines, I'd recommend DuckDuckGo, which doesn't log anything you search. For PC, I'd recommend disabling your IPv6 protocol in your router settings and getting uBlock Origin, HTTPS Everywhere, and PrivacyBadger. They're wonderful add-ons for Firefox or Chrome. uBlock Origin and PrivacyBadger can block WebRTC leaks which would leak your IP address and can be used to identify you. If you want more information, feel free to reply to my post and I'll help you out as much as I can.

Hoxic,
Thank you for all of the information. With the private internet access VPN on my PC and android, will that slow down anything like web surfing, uploads or downloads? I am limited to using Verizon's high speed DSL connection as they refer to it, (I refer to it as slowest speed connection lol) in my neighborhood and this is the only provider for me so it's already pretty slow compared to Fios and other broadband connections. I would hate to slow it down any more.
You mention to pay for these services using gift cards and such. Well as I mentioned, I do not have anything that I am actually worried about anyone seeing, this is simply my way of trying to protect my privacy so I wouldn't go that far but I am curious about that statement. Do you mean that using a VPN truly isn't private or is this just to remove any paper trail linking me to the use of a VPN provider? I have been using DuckDuckGo for several years already just to stop google from taking and selling my info. Weather it truly works or not I dont know but its a great search engine anyway so I figured why not use it.
Your advice to disabling IPv6 protocol in my router settings: I do not see anywhere in my router settings to do this so I googled it, and it looks like there's a way o do this in windows. Is that different that what you're advising? Also I read a windows blog on this and windows 10 says IPv6 is a mandatory part of Windows that they do not advise on disabling. Can you give me some more detail on this, and how to disable it, assuming the windows warning is bull.
Thanks for all of your help.
