SIM Card Question (After Flashing) - General Questions and Answers

Ok, so I flashed the Unofficial CyanogenMod to my Galaxy Ace, and it runs great, and I found out how to import my contacts from the SIM Card. Everything like Texts, Calls, Voicemail, and Caller ID work, but for some reason in the Notification drop down bar, the service carrier which should show "Koodo" shows "302220" instead, which I assume is their carrier ID number.
Is there a way to fix that, because this happened before I knew how to import contacts on another ROM, which I think is another issue, because shouldn't it automatically load them off my SIM card because they are stored there? When I flash back to the stock Koodo firmware they show up automatically...

Bump... I really need an answer, would a screenshot help?

Weird Sim problem after Rose ROM upgrade

hi,
I upgraded to WM6.1 "Rose" ROM and it all works great except for one thing.
Contacts.
The phone won't read any of the contacts from my SIM, it thinks it's empty. But it get's worse, I can't save anything onto it either. I know there are contacts on the SIM, my son's GX15 can see them all. I loaded SIM contact manager and it can see some of the contacts, and copy them to "Contacts" (on the phone).
This is all with a Voda SIM. I tried an Orange SIM, no problems at all, could read and save contacts to and from phone/SIM easy. Tried a T-Mobile SIM, no problem.
Went to Voda store and they cloned old SIM onto a new one. Still same problem. Can anyone help me work this out please, I'm getting desperate.
Thanks.
Maybe there's a tweak in this rom to hide sim contacts (it should be somewhere in registry). Could well be. Try to google for it. I'll tell you if I find something.
Here it is
I found it: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\ShowSIM
This should be set to 1 to see SIM contacts.
This option is configurable in the phone settings right?
There's one box that says Show SIM contacts
Just thought of it, sorry Jonnno I could not answer you when you asked, just remembered about it.

I don't have a folder called ShowSIM under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel in my registry.
Can I add one?

If it is I can't find it.
And just to add again, that it works fine with every other SIM I've tried, just not this one, or even a newer clone of this one.

There isn't one. Create a NEW KEY.. Call it "ShowSIM" Create a New DWord within the created key.. Value Name: "ShowSIM" Value Data: "1" Restart phone and it should work. I just did it and now I see SIM Contacts on Contact List. I never payed attention to it, as I really don't care to see them. I sync my contacts from PC. I consider it safer that way and can take control easier of my contacts.
NOTE: Like I said, I don't pay attention to SIM Contacts... So.. They might have actually been there and didn't notice before.

Karhoe, this option isn't available on Rose ROM
I added that Key but it didn't change anything. I'm gonna try my bro-in-laws contract Voda sim next, I'll let you know the results.

Couple things...
1. Have you tried a different contact to sim app? There are about 30 that I have found.
2. Just curious why you want them on your sim card... Google syncs directly to the phone, so no need to link to sim, unless it's for use in multiple phones...
Anyways, what is the exact name of the app you are using? I will try it out and see what my results are.
Just manage your contacts with GMail, or Outlook, or Yahoo, etc. Also with the SIM you only have a few fields you can use, Name, Phone, and Email are the only field's you can use.
i have been trying to use contacts 2 sim and copy to sim card. both say it cant acess the sim car. but yes it is for use in multiplle phones

Ok...Downloaded and tested several apps. All work on my phone. Sounds like you may have a bad sim. Go to AT&T and tell them you need a new one. It should be no charge for this, and take a matter of a few minutes.

[Q] Is it possible to brick your sim card by flashing a file?

hello everyone, I've been having problems with my sim card since friday, after I flashed cyanogen, and I believe the kernel mod by netarchi, I wasn't able to send text messages, even tho I could receive and make phone calls, receive sms and use internet.
I called my carrier and they told me that everything was normal, we tried everything and it was just not working everything was pointing at the phone, I tried putting my sister sim card and it worked. we were able to send text messages, i tried my sim card in my sister phone and it was sending sms too... so I went to one of my carrier offices and they gave me a new sim card, and now it's fixed, even tho they told me that it was my phone's fault.
so now I wonder, do u guys think that maybe I bricked my sim card, while flashing a file, (baseband specially) I know it sounds totally weird but is the only logical explanation to me.
or it could just be a coincidence.
it probably is just a coincidence, you should also check your APNs and things like that.
I've had that problem before. Rather then give you a new sim, they could have just repushed yours over the air. A reboot of the phone and it was fixed. The problem is caused by you trying to update the wrong sms number to the sim card. (done in the phone info screen). Leave the sms number alone.

100 carrier msgs in 1 day!!!

UPDATED
I´ve just been using the HTC ONE X for about 4 days and I´ve been receiving hundreds of repeated msgs from my carrier. They say "Vivo RJ 21" (Vivo is the carrier, RJ stands for Rio de Janeiro...the city, and 21 is the area code for Rio de Janeiro). I´ve already tried several factory resets with no luck. I´ve also tried a micro sim card from a different carrier and I kept receiving the same msg (except for the carrier name). I´ve received other regular msgs from my carrier and from other people that were not repeated. It´s just this one.
What are my options here????
Do you still have the same number ported over? If so then maybe it might be a glitch in there system. If not then it might be spam from the poor person before you. Either way either get a block on that or call carrier to stop it.
The worst part is that I cannot even block this number because whenever I try to add the number to the Mr.Number app it tells me to add a valid number. The number is only 2 digits...it´s 50
Looks like it would be best to either call them or go in store and ask them to test the phone. Sounds more like a software hiccup, but who know? Hope you don't have to receive that many texts tomorrow
But do you guys think there is a chance this could be phone related?
I might just try to get a micro-sim to sim card adapter and test it another phone to see if it still happens.
Its a broadcast message
U can stop it in message setting
It will not harm u
Press thanks
Or u can give me ur one x as a gift
How do I stop that in settings? I´ve tried everything and I don´t think it´s that simple.
It must be getting close to 200 messages.
Just go to your carrier already! Or if nothing works, then do a barrel roll~
Don´t you think I would have gone to the carrier if it wasn´t closed during the weekends! I´ve already called them 3 times and they did different things. The last thing they did I was supposed to wait 24h.
What is a barrel roll?
Can you remove the SIM and use the phone without it? If not then try finding some other app that blocks numbers... maybe one that supports blocking operator numbers?
as said before carrier messages can be blocked...I'm assuming a battery pull did nothing?

Ok, just let me know how. So far I´ve tried about 7 differente text/spam blockers apps and none has worked.
The HTC One X´s batt cannot be removed.
Do you have message settings
Just check there might be option of broadcast message
Keep our forum clean
I do have message settings but there are no options there that would help me with this (only stuff like notification types, signature, forward to email, etc).
Today I´m going to the store where I got the micro sim card to have it changed. I REALLY hope it works because it would be a real shame if this was the HTC One X and not the micro sim card.
When I go to "about the phone", then "network" it shows:
operator name - unkown
signal strenght - 0
mobile network type - unkown
service state - radio off
roaming - not roaming
Nonetheless I can make and receive calls, send and receive text msgs, navigate, etc. The only issue is really the operator msgs informing my city area code over and over again.
I went to the carrier and got a new micro sim and did a factory reset WITH the micro sim card inside the phone. The date above got populated. I will wait to see if I will get anymore msgs but I think this might be it.
I´ve tried with a micro sim card from a different carrier and the problem persists. This is phone related for sure. I really don´t know what else to do...maybe try a different rom other then the stock?
I´ve called HTC again and they instructed me to do the following:
-> "settings", "call" and then disable the option "cell broadcast".
So far no msgs. Lets wait and see.

MMI code for SIM data retrieving?

Is there a MMI code for retrieving data from SIM card?
Today I seem to unintentionally have entered one. Unfortunately, the dial app of CyanogenMod 12 on my dual SIM Samsung GT-S7582 doesn't keep a record in the recent calls list (since it's supposedly not a call, and probably not even a USSD code), so I cannot recover it. I played with a number starting with 0551 and the CLIR code. I might have touched anywhere unaware and unintendedly. I got a text message overlay window stating that "it" is being read or copied from SIM card now, which took a couple of seconds. There was no detailed information, so I do not know what was "it". This is what I would like to know.
Since there are 0 contacts and messages on both SIMs and the fact I use preset APNs, I'm not able to find it out by looking at diffs to my last backup.
Does anyone have any idea?
