Contacts list acting funny. - Samsung Infuse 4G

Hello, i have been struggling with this issue for quite a while. After searching i decided this is the best way to get some.
I have a work contact named, lets say trey, with treys contact information i have his work phone, home phone and cell. If i go to the dealer and lunch in "873" for TRE i get trey but just his cell number.
This is where it gets weird, there are some names that i don't have in my contact list. i tried to send my boss a contact info for someone i have their name and number saved in my phone. Louis is the contact.i try to send, but if.i search my contacts its not in there. But if i do to my dialer and type "568" for "Lou" it pops up his name and cell number. Louis isn't the only contact like that. There are several that are in my phone but not actual contacts.
What i would like it to able to type in 873 in my dialer and get all of treys information.
I have tried a few "contact cleaner" apps but no success.

[Q] Froyo/ Nexus One/Cyanogen 6- how to stop contacts from joining on android device

The Title pretty much sums it up.
Contacts in my Google Account end up "joining" together so that I cannot find that contact on my phone at all.
Going to Gmail shows all contacts fine.
Typing in the phone number of a contact and dialing will show the "Joined contact's " name. Then I can go in and Menu>>Edit>>Separate...
How can I stop it from happening in the first place?
Most recent ones I've noticed are Al and Alex joining...
Also, my best friend (his full name is the contact) and his parents (who I just have listed by their last name)
There are more that I haven't found yet- but I just want to stop this from happening all together.
Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Multiple Contact numbers

So im having an issue, when i type a contacts name in SMS, it brings up all their numbers, home, work, mobile
Is there a fix for this??
Cheers,
I donĀ“t think so. A workaround is create a contact to each number. Like steve mobile, steve home, and so on.
Try setting the number you want as the person's default contact number. That might help. Otherwise, you can just type in the first few digits of the number and it'll figure out the rest for you.
Thanks,
I like to have all my contacts with their numbers consolidated, but it looks like a google bug (coming from a Desire HD) im pretty sure HTC sense never displayed home or work numbers :S
Ohwell i will deal with it.. for now..
cheers
Some SMS apps (such as Go SMS or HandCent) have a tick box option in the settings to 'show mobile numbers only'.

Contacts in text messaging apps

For most of my contacts, when I go to compose a new message and begin typing their name, their name shows up multiple times on the list.
I have gone into settings and only chosen "My Contacts" in gmail to show, which has each of my friends listed only ONCE, but some may have multiple numbers under their name (such as phone & google voice number). If their GV number shows up alongside their actual number it's not a problem, since it's only very few of my friends and sometimes I actually want to send a message to their GV instead of their phone.
The problem is that for contacts that I just have listed once in My Contacts, which most have only one number attached to their name, they'll show up twice and sometimes three or four times in the list.
For example:
- I have John Doe in My Contacts under gmail, and his number is +1-555-666-5555.
- I type "John" in the contact part of my text, and the following shows:
John - (+15556665555)
John Doe - (+15556665555)
John Doe - (+1-555-666-5555)
The name and number are obviously changed, but wtf.. why does it show up in various forms if I only actually have the last one in gmail?
i think it might be syncing off any linked accounts you have? such as Facebook maybe. you can go into the [John Doe] contact wherever u see multiple of the same #'s and you'll prob see the number show there multiple times too, reason is because some people have their # listed on their FB account and thats prob syncing into ur address book too. and their FB default name might be the other name showing, as opposed to like the nickname or w/e you'd use for them on your address book.
Thanks for the help, but that's not the issue. I made sure to go into Display Options and uncheck everything but "My Contacts" under Google. The problem still persists.
I know it's not a rom issue, because the same thing happened to me as soon as I got the phone.
Also, in the example I used (the name and number were changed, obviously), the friend I was looking at only had one number listed in the contacts list on gmail, yet it still shows a few variations on my phone.
Not really a big issue, just a nuisance.

[Q] all contacts as mobile

I switched from a Blackberry to this infuse 4g ive had probably 8 android phones in the past year so i am very familiar with them. I am using the serendipity VII rom annnnnd i am having a problem. I backed up all my contacts through google sync when i had my blackberry BUT blackberry automatically lists everyone as a "work" contact by default. this is fine and dandy but with this rom and maybe every android rom? it won't let you send a NEW text message to a contact thats listed as a "work" contact.. if i go in and edit the contact to "mobile" itll let me send that person a NEW text message by typing in their name in the to field of a text. Of course if i go to the actual contact i can click message but im not sue to doing that.. So i am basically looking for a way to list all contacts as mobile or i though there was a way to tell android to assume all contact types have texting capabilities. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
Never had that happen, but I use GoSms and it's free.
Cranky...

Productivity lockscreen showing contact numbers instead of names

Anyone else using the "productivity" lockscreen? I really like it, but when i get texts from some people, they show as the contacts phone number instead of the name. When i open the phone, it shows up as the contact name.
Even more weird, it only does this for some numbers. Others show up fine on the lockscreen.
All my contacts are saved on my google account, and all use the same naming convention in the contact info.
I'm having the exact same problems, anyone have a fix?
I've noticed this as well. Hopefully a firmware update will fix this.
I was having this issue as well. It has to do with whether or not you are using the area code in your contacts. Add 1+ the area code and that should fix it.

the +1 fix didn't work for me..
The only way I've been able to fix it is to remove the hyphens from the numbers.
Instead of 123-456-7890 I had to change it to 1234567890. Now messages display correctly. It;s a pain in the ass to change them though, so this seems like a temporary fix.
I saw this in another thread. I'd search and give credit, but I'm at work and a bit lazy.
Chime in if you want credit.
