on G2x is it better to had dark or light theme to minimize power usage?
I think G2x has LED witch would mean darker would be better and on LCD white.
Does G2x has LED?
that rule only applies to phones with amoled screens. the g2x has a backlit lcd screen so dark vs light themes wont change power consumption. screen brightness is what you want to worry about.
Thanx

I was wondering with the screen being so brought even turned all the way down. What colors consume the most power? light or dark
For an LCD I believe it is darker colors, where on the AMOLED screens the lighter colors take up more power.
Does it really require that much more power, where it makes a difference in battery life, I don't think so.
Just like the subject says. Anyone else have this issue? When I set the brightness set to the lowest my whites have a green yellow tint to it. If I set the brightness to halfway or full it completely goes away and my whites look white.

this is just a normal trait of super amoled screens, just like how amoled have a hard time displaying whites (kills battery fast due to the display type)
I'm somewhat used to it now. Doesn't bother me at all. Plus, the peachy color isn't as hard on the eyes.

Hello, I did not experienced the change in tint because I'm slightly colorblind but there is something that disturbs me a lot, i'ts the fact that with a very low brightness, using a night mode app, on a dark or black background I can see several daker spots on the screen. I checked on a GSIII and you can also see some but it's less disturbing.
Anyone have this problem?
The note II was my last amoled phone so it's been a while. Is it normal for the S6 screen to take on altering green and red tints when displaying white backgrounds and tilted at minor angles? I'm coming from an M8 so I'm not accustomed to all the crazy pentile sub pixel arrangement used in the new amoled panels.

Folks,
any experiences whether, on this device, a dark theme does save energy / battery power consumed by the display? I know dark themes do help on AMOLED displays but have no idea about the Moto G which apparently has an IPS panel built in...
TIA,
Kristian
nope, you already said it yourself. amoled turns off iindividual pixels(with their own backlight) giving almost perfect black levels and ofcourse battery saving.
ips panels only has one big backlight, that means even if the whole screen is dark you still see light shining through.
so you cant save power with ips panels

Thanks for sorting me out.
Is there a dark themed ROM that is battery oriented? I know you could use substratum, but most themes I want cost money, and for the battery, I'd like to stay away from root

I have read that a black or dark theme could save a bit of battery with oled or super amoled but not with non-oled screens. This is apparently due to the way the backlight works in lcd screens.
