Cyanogenmod 7 alternatives - myTouch 4G General

I've recently rooted my Mytouch4g and isntalled CM7, but I feel it's just not enough. It feels like a fresh install of Gingerbread with just more speed and functionality, but I was hoping for some more features and such. Any other roms like CM 7 (Increases speed and functionality), but has some more features (Visual, software, etc)

What's the best ROM? [POLL]

I justed wanted to know everyones opinions. Which ROM fits you best, a Sense Based ROM or, a AOSP Based ROM(Cyanogenmod for example). Please leave your comments and opinions on WHY it is better than the other!!!
Cyanogen is cool and stable the most stable probably. No fc's no reboots as long as run there stable versions your guaranteed stability. And hella long battery life. Especially if run a setcpu profile along with it.
I love Cyanogenmod also. I'm going with Sense Based Roms though because of the great things that HTC incorporated into the Rom. Myn's RLS 5 for the win!
Cm is better, sense roms are boring and not so custmizable in stock as cm

CyanogenMod.
Every Sense ROM I tried felt unwieldy and unnatural. Even when I first got the EVO.

Best of the best
Miui is my new fave
but I always keep a back up mikfroyo
cm is awesome .. But not really on my list (maybe if I knew how to get it to work on cricket)
what I look for is battery life first
and .. Of course it must be stable
sense or asop doesn't matter to me because as long as I can use it all day long without the fc's ..
I always use a cool launcher like go, unless I am using miui .. Then I am good to go enuff sed
I would move over to CM but Myns RLS 5 is just "Oh So Sweet." If I could just find a red themed gingerbread notify bar, I would be SET FOR LIFE!!!

Had to go for the Aosp.
I do think Sense and Aosp are both fantastic. Depends on the mood!
I also think MIUI gets overloaked sometimes...
Elitte II and Kings Froyo ftw!
aosp
cm 7 nightly#8 with savage zen kernel and mixer theme definitely
Ive tried all the sense roms not a fan
if I had to pick mikfroyo for speed and for looks warm two point 2
but cm7 is way way better customization speed long battery life and way too many goodies to mention
Why is this here ?
from my phone duh
There is no question, Myn's "Warm" base ROM's are the best for the EVO.
Go and install Warm-Z or WarmRLS 5 right now, and close this thread, there is nothing better.
Lol it is the best. I havent really found anything better.

[POLL][Dec 28] Which ROM do you use?

Suddenly, the number of ROMs for our beloved Desire S has skyrocketed, forcing me to create a new poll. Some ROMs are dead (i.e. no longer worked on), so i won't be posting their names here. Again, if you switch often (like me ) choose your favorite one. Also, be advised, you can't change your vote, so choose wisely.
Galnet with Tiamat for my Desire S. I'll let you guess for my Galaxy Nexus ;-).

Sent from my HTC Desire S using XDA App
WP7 saga is based on MIUI with minor additions, and RCMix 4.0 is dead, the thread is closed.
Also, some of you are posting the name of rom here, but not voting, that defeats the purpose of a poll. Please vote instead of posting.

Endymion 3.2 by lowveld. Since I started using Endy don't feel like swapping it since it is very stable and got fantastic support. Never had any issues with it.
I've been using Endymion 3.1 for a week now with absolutely no issues, soon to be upgraded to 3.2. Many thanks Lowveld for a superb rom!
Cheers,
Dave.
I used few but Endymion (by lowveld) was the best for me...

I used to use MIUI, but now ICS by m-deejay and superkid beat it.
I was on Cyanogen but have gone to Superkid's ICS build. Might go back to Cyanogen when v9 comes out.
Just migrated to CM7 for the first time. First time on pure AOSP, and I'm loving it!
Getting real excited about CM9 now

ICS B8r2 at this moment, i really love how fast the development has gone.
it runs pretty much perfect for me since i dont use the camera/tethering.
before i used to run MIUI.
in a couple of months i can pick a new phone and i guess ICS will keep me satisfied with my DS till then.

[Q] Which Android OS do you prefer and why?

Which Android OS do like?
I'm talking 2.3.4, 2.3.5, 2.3.7, ICS.
What ROM r u using and sense or no-sense.
I'll start
Mostly I've been 2.3.5-sense ARHD. that gives me a few different options.
Right now its ARHD 2.3.4 runs good, no prob.
Virtuous Inquistion -- Senseless ICS. I used to like Sense a lot, but when I started using CM7 I don't think I could go back. Sense is very user friendly and accessible, but it the UI just looks a bit too tacky for my taste. AOSP, especially ICS, is very simple and eloquent.
I switched my sensation with my wifes SGS2 and after a day or so I switched back. Guess I got used to sense or it grew on me. I just dont care for how it will sometimes lag for no reason at all. Never saw that on CM7.
Yeah true. Sense is the best manufacture UI. TouchWiz is just trash.

+1 for Virtuous Inquisition, for the same reasons stated above. Plus it's surprisingly stable compared to the full sense ics roms we have right now.
I've been a huge 2.3.4 advocate up until this point, but honestly I don't think I can go back now.

What about gaming on the sensation? any rom preference? any preference for roms/games combos?
i've been playing bejeweled but I want to play GTA but couldn't get it to work.
I know cordy and fruit ninja were big problems for a minute on the 2.3.4 ROMs.
ICS with ASOP is finally a nice replacement for Sense UI and its cleaner and faster...
I have voted for 2.35, but the newest ICS-Elegancia Rom sounds very good.
Virtuous Inquisition here... would prefer CM9 if available but this is pretty good. I cant stand Sense.. its definitely better than TouchWiz (Samsung) and Motoblur (Motorola) but its still trash compared to vanilla/AOSP
I'm using ARHD 6.0.3

[Q] aosp rom suggestions

guys, anyone more experienced than me could tell me what are the best roms aosp (even if is sense based)?
I have to choose:
official miui, opensensation, aokp, virtuous inquisition...
Nothing AOSP will be Sense based, the two are mutually exclusive.
My vote goes to CM9/OpenSensation though.

yeah, I know that XD I'm not so much noob...I mean, roms like virtuous, that are htc framework aosp themed...In theory that could be better because is based on native sensation framework...but real aosp base is lighter, I don't know, I'm asking for this anyone that tried some roms could suggest?...
Flash AOKP, you won't regret it.
HyperNonSense is been good to me.... 2.4 version to be exact...

+1 on this, i'm using pimpmaneaton EyeCandy aokp rom, very nice.
AOKP is great, lots of customizations. There are a few minor issues though.
If you want something stable, go for virtuous inquisition.
Cm9(open sensation) is pretty good though.
You have to try them out yourself to find out

I really hate cm9, I don't like that, I....can't feel the aosp experience!...
tried virtuous, is good, but not enough fast, even if stable!...
now, I'm on official aokp is good, light, pretty stable, battery is not so good, but I don't mind...thank you all for suggestions!
i have tried almost any rom and my number one choice is Open Sensation. almost everything in open sensation is superior, when compared to other roms, but if you still can't decide i would recommend you to pick up your most favorite roms and try them out.

What's Your Favorite ICS Rom ?

So i just recently bought a sensation i immediately rooted it with s-off. The first rom i flashed and currently using is virtious Inquisition.

I switched from ARHD to OrDroid and I freakin love it. Sense 4.0 is awesome and runs smooth on the Sensation 4G. Just dump the Sense launcher and use something like Apex or LauncherPro instead.
Try them all and see which one you like best. They are all good. Try sense and senseless Roms. My personal favorite is Elegancia after trying many.

I love my Sensation XE now more than ever after I flashed ORDroid v5.0.2 + SoundBoost + Equalizer + faux kernel.
I don't know if its just me but the beats sounds way much better than when I was on ARHD v6.6.3. The only downside is I get a better battery life on my last installed rom.
As the previous poster mentioned above, use other launcher like Apex or Nova.

Same here. Although, I like the Sense launcher, to me 3rd party launchers with Sense feel really out of place.
On a side note, I hope LauncherPro gets updated someday. It was excellent on Gingerbread and Froyo on previous phones.

While I mostly agree, I need to correct some things....no offense.
Virtuous isn't AOSP, it's an AOSP "experience" based off sense base. True AOSP right now is Opensensation which is (CM9).....also as listed in your last suggestion cm9 (opensensation) isn't that customizable right now.
Also, while many suggest to try them for yourself......to someone who just rooted their new sensation, this can be a long process, with plenty of time consuming reading and configurations....
So I think it's best to offer the OP a starting point:
Pure stock like sense (3.6) - ARHD
Pure Stock like Sense (4.0) - Don't know if there is one, most I've tried are too laggy, and have too many bugs....but try any one to get the feel...maybe Coindroid
Pure AOSP - Opensensation (I don't even notice the bugs as listed)
Pure MIUI - There isn't one
- MIUI.us and MIUI android are based off sense base
- UltimiuIcs is based off AOSP, but developer is finishing exams
Given the above, they offer a starting point (with MIUI and sense 4.0 a starting point just to see what it's about) IMO, I'd wait for MIUI AOSP based if you like that, and wait for bug free sense 4.0 if you like that.
The rest of the roms, sense and AOSP are just variations on the starting points above.....with some being tiny, tiny visual variations (the rest under the hood), and others quite a few modifications.
As far as my onions:
- I find sense too laggy, I mean our phones can handle it....but of you want battery life, your gonna have lag.
- I recently moved to Opensensation, and can't even compare the speed....even underclocked, undervolted....while I do miss some sense features, they don't even compare to the speed.
- I recently tried "eyecandy" AOKP, based off AOSP....and there is a lot of tweakability and theming works as I'm sure more will be available.
As far as kernels.....if running sense, I'd use bricked, if running AOSP, use stock kernel with rom, or faux kernel.
Hope that helps for a starting point....and NANDROID...NANDROID!
That way you can easily revert back if you don't like one or get into trouble.
Cheers!
