Mount the internal memory on the computer and place it there. If you have cwm 5.x you can flash from the internal

Isn't miui based on cm? You could also push it via adb to /emmc

Oh yeah true. Hey wait does this changing the mount point effectively make the internal sd card usable as the external? I did the changes manually in vold.fstab but it didn't work.."?

Check the rom for recovery thread in dev section. It will flash you back to gb 2.3.3 OTA
I have bricked my phone multiple times and that method always saves my phone.

[Q] File System question

I performed a Factory Reset / Wipe and was under the impression this cleared everything off the Xoom that I had added. Upon looking at the /mnt/sdcard folder I see folders of Apps that I had previously installed.
Question
Can the /mnt/sdcard be formatted ? If so how ?
Not super familiar with the whole file system setup so If this is a noob/stupid question could you please explain things for me.

There are two ways that I know of that I personally have done just in the last week or so. First you can unmount the SD card from the Xoom and place it in an Android Cell Phone, and go to settings/storage and from there unmount the card and click reformat SD card. Or you can hook the Xoom up via USB and clear it from within the PC/mac. Hope this helped.

Nope that would be for the micro USB card this is the /mint/sdcard which is part of the internal memory

Fastboot -w wipes all user data including /mnt/sdcard I lost some pictures of my dog because of it
Sent from my MB860 using xda premium
The simplest way I know of is thru the Backup/Restore options in CWM, just doing the wipes won't do it. I use the Team Rogue version of CWM tho, i don't remember off hand if it can be done in the other recovery's (i.e. Rom Managers version or the one from solarnz that is most popular).
I just, personally, like the way the menus are laid out with Team Rogue's version and not having like a dozen No's with one Yes when confirming an action, nothing against the others.
Thanks guys I will try the Fastboot -w when at home and able to use it and Team Rogue's Recovery when at work.
Its been awhile but what is the option in Team Rogue recovery I dont see one to wipe the Internal data

Can I flash roms from external SD

I am running rushdroid now with a backup. I would like to try ThaiZ 2.7, but I'm out of space on my internal sd. Can I save ThaiZ to my ext. sd and flash it from there with cwm?
Sent from my LG-P920h using XDA
Yes, you can, just mount it from the CWM Recovery and you're set.
Thanks... I thought so, but just making sure.

Are you sure you can flash from an external SD card.
I'm really trying to work out how to do it on a Samsung Galaxy S.
I have a discussion going in this thread (How to flash a ROM with out USB) if you'd care to explain.
If you could provide pointers I'd be most grateful.
Thanks.

i cannot speak for your phone, but as an o3d user and flash-a-holic, i can readily tell you that i am able to flash/back-up roms from/into both the internal and external sd cards. i have done it countless times... if it doesn't work on your phone, maybe you can give rom manager's dev team a message

Start cwm and choose "install zip from sdcard" and on the next screen you have two options one at the top of the list(your external) and one at the bottom(your internal)

Stuck during root (can't see SuperSU.zip)

So...I've been following Shabby's thread in the dev forum, but can't post there yet due to being new. Everything works fine to the point where he says to flash the SuperSU zip from recovery.
Basically, there's nothing seen on the SD card in recovery mode. I've verified the file is there from the Terminal in normal mode, and the permissions are a mix of 777 and 755 in there. Only the DCIM and bug2go directories appear in recovery. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks in advance to anyone who replies. I am a happy lady with this phone but want to finish the root job!

Wow, I was not expecting you to answer personally
Er...it's a 16GB microSD card i purchased and put into the SD slot. I suppose that makes it external...? At any rate I know the recovery flash is looking at it because I see the same directory structure in Android's terminal at /sdcard/, just almost nothing in it shows up in recovery.

I think there is a selection somewhere that you can tell it what to see as the SDCard, internal or external. Read it somewhere. Or maybe that doesn't apply here, just trying to help
If you downloaded it with your phone it is saved in a folder on the internal storage, use the files app to copy it to external 1, which is ur sd card. Cwm doesn't see internal storage, everything is saved to and pulled from the sd card when in recovery.

It's probably my only real complaint about this phone. Internal storage showing up as /sdcard is just stupid, but I understand why they did it.
I hit this bug while rooting mom's phone. I grabbed the microSD from my tablet and it worked great

Think I found it in data/media, that what u were lookin for? Guess that makes sense, a data wipe clears it.
Sent from my XT897 using xda premium
whoa what?!
a factory reset wipes out internal storage?
does it do it on stock or just cwm?
and yes i need to know a bit more info if it is /data/media as its home
Haven't done a stock reset yet, workin on figuring out how to. Confirm wipe data/ factory reset in cwm wipes the internal sd.
There is a shortcut in the root of system dir, as well as in /mnt, to sd card (internal). Both have the sd icon next to them, data/media location shows as a folder. Idk what all you want on this, lemme know what I can get for you. I will figure out how to stock reset to confirm.

If you booted into CWM using the EZ Recovery app then you would notice that you can manually save backups to either sd card.

It might also be that you don't have your external card formatted to fat32. CWM doesn't like the exFat format that I believe all big cards come in.

If your talking about rom manager then yea thats normal!
On a side note, I recomend flashing files manually in CWM recovery...you would not believe how many threads I have helped folks get out of a softbrick or bootloop situation by flashing with rom manager. The app works great, but you still need to know the background information on what your flashing! To many people think since they can pull the file up on RM, it must be compatible, or they flash with the wrong recovery = soft brick! Part of the main reason my guide is written in its fashion...provides proper instructions to flash, makes one read a bit, and repeats its self to pound the info into ones head. Not tryin to preach to ya, just wanted to share some possibly useful info to yourself and others. thx
I was wondering the same about saving to external from rom manager. So our only option it looks like is to boot to recovery and manually go to save it to the external sd?

/storage/sdcard0 isnt mounted

I am currently on cm10 8/31. I tryed the new build of remjb and after flashing my imternal storage wouldnt mount. It shows 0 bytes of 0 bytes in fx file and root explorer says it is not mounted. So i restored nandroid back to the cm10 and it was mounted. Oh well its ok, i like cm10...... I tryed to take a picture a couple days later and it says i have no storage.... Now my internal isnt mounted on cm10 either. Did full wipe and reinstalled and it still wont mount. In recovery it shows up fine......... I guess what im asking is can anyone give me a terminal command the mounts the internal storage. Its just frustrating as i cant take pictures and half of my apps wont function right since they have stuff saved in android/data on the sd card.
Ps. My external works fine and mounts and shows in fx file fine....

Look at this thread for answer. I think the external you are seeing is really internal. Real external might be /emmc.

I am sure its the internal not mounted because external is both emmc and sdcard1 while sdcard0 is internal. And my external is 32gb so that helps further prove its my internal just not mounting right.

Not a problem! I'm glad the solution was something easy. =D
It's often easy, especially when we do so much technical tweaking, to overlook the simple answers.
Don't feel bad about it. =P
exactly the same
Hey.
I have the exact same problem, but the "mount SD" in settings won't mount it. It just goes from "calculating" back to the "mount SD" button. Frustrating! It's been worked without problems till now and i haven't installed anything or changed anything!

No it wasn't. I just had to keep hitting mount USB in storage. But I switched to an old iPhone for a while then came back to this. Got the jellybean iemi issue and odined back to stock a couple times. That seemed to fix it. No longer have the issue. Weird.
PS I am in the latest Scott cm10 (11/04 with that kernel fix flashed 11/14 I think and latest gapps) fully went to stock and followed every step precisely. If you go back to stock be sure that when you get to the step where you flash an ICS ROM be sure to boot up the ICS rom once before wiping and flashing jellybean. Not doing that step messed up my iemi again haha xP had to Odin yet again.

Let's take aside the noobish method. What would be the mount command for sdcard0 mounting anyway? So much garbage on the forum, that this simple question is impossible to find a resolution for.
