Which app usss more battdry! NSTOOLS OR ROM TOOLBOX - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I want to choose one so i am not running 2 that do such similar things. Thanks for any guidence. I already paid 5 for rom toolbox so i am leaning towards using that.

Depends what you want to do with them. NSTools has options to enable/disable BLN, BLD, easier voltage control and support for deepidle. ROM Toolbox has overclocking features, but also a trigger manager, icon replacement, rom manager, root browser, ad blocker and so on.
Personally i run them side-by-side, configuring OC by NSTools when i try. Havn't had any conflicts.
Also, neither use any battery after you've used them. They simply read/edit files each time you open the app, then close down completely.

Thanks but arent both of those battery hogs? I thought i would pick one so both progfams are not running

Neither are battery hogs, they're just text editors with a GUI. Battery life will change when you overclock or undervolt, this is what you control with the two apps. They just edit some values in some system files to tell android how to manage the CPU and other hardware, android takes care of it all from then. The app is just an easy way to change these values.

Thanks so much for your responses! I will use both. I really appreciate your help

I've never encountered any major battery consumption from nstools. It is a very light program that does what you tell it to, then stays quiet.

tasker and the battery heat...

is it possible to set tasker to reduce the clockspeed of the cpu when battery heat exceeds a certain limit?
I've never tried to do that specifically but I'm almost positive that setcpu has that option and slightly less sure that Droid over clock (I prefer this app) has it.
Edit: just tried it with setcpu, go to profiles, enable, and set from there. Also droidoverclock is now android overclock.

Yep.. i know, but i use nofrill and its much more better than others..i tried..
But unfortunately it dont have any presets. Hence, can i use tasker to do that

SetCPU Replacement?

What's everyone using now that was like setcpu to set all their profiles and over/underclock?

Have a try of System Tuner by 3C, it's arguably a better option, or at worst an alternative.
It has a lot more functions, as long as you do a little reading on the FAQ's you can't really go wrong.
System tuner pro - it does not have profiling (I hope they will add), but it has much more options - like UV, scheduler changes, autorun manager etc.
also use the system tuner pro, has lot's of options!

CM10 Performance settings + SetCPU

Although I love Instigator's Kernel, I believe that it is time to move on from the aging kernel code.
I have started to use the stock kernel with the Paranoid Android by gs2usr, but I wanted more options to my cpu usage so I got set cpu.
Now my question is, will set cpu interfere with the performance settings originally in CM10? I have set the setcpu governor to the same gorvernor in the performance settings. The addition I have is the profile at certain battery points. Did anyone experience anything that caused the app and the CM10 settings to interfere each other causing even more waste in battery?? (like putting teo anivirus software on one computer? )

Best option is to stick to the performance setting built into Cm10 because it's had all the correct paths on how to adjust the kernel properly .
I don't use set CPU anymore I now use system.tuner pro as an alternate that's it

From what I've been reading the performance module in cm10/aokp is still a bit iffy, but I do agree with the system tuner pro recommendations

[Q] Which app controls what?

OK Ive done some searching and couldnt find anything. I also suspect this is (hopefully) quite a simple question, so sorry about that.
How do I know what apps are controlling what?
So to elaborate- I have DSP manager, faux sound, and pimp my rom, ALL of which have sound options, not to mention the players eq settings. How do I know what's controlling what? OR (and hopefully this is the case) will they all control the same thing if there's a crossover between app functions?
Similarly with things like colour/gamma control- can apps get confused with each other or will they just overide each other?
Similarly again with stuff like CPU freqs.
Similarly again with tweaks and mods- what happens if I use a mod like V6 Supercharge and then use Pimp My Rom ro tweak various things? (I suspect this last point is the only thing in this question which can cause issues but I'd like to actually know!)
Thanks in advance

Usually the settings will come from the last thing to run. A lot of things will load init.d scripts so you may need to look there to see how the various tweaks and mods are being implemented.

CM 12,"Lollipop Dream "

Kernels. Can someone recommend one please. I tried Elemental X for cm, but it loops. Tried it twice as I love the other versions. I don't like the built-in kernel. Battery is important as is settings sticking. I'm not afterthought best in the world, or want this to turn into one of those threads. Just advise and the reason for it. Thx.
CM12
franco.Kernel
You have to use SuperSU though as the CM-integrated Superuser conflicts with the FKU App. But the combination itself is awesome! Good performance and many kernel-side options like undervolting, color profiles, governor settings an so on
Also battery life is great as long as you don't install old apps / bloatware from the Play Store
I'll try it
