[Q] Help with CWM in Nexus s - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, sorry for my english...
This is my story...
Yesterday I rooted my NS (9020a) and try to update with the ICS stock rom... something goes wrong, because the signal was lost... then I learn how to flash a radio in the bootloader, and I did it and now it works just fine.
But in this process, I flash via img de CWM, but now when I go to the Recovery, I still see the stock one, and I want to know: how can I unnistall the CWM or how I can see wich one I have in my phone...
Because, when the OTA coming to my model, I want it.

The OTA wipe the recovery and overwrite it with a stock recovery at each boot.
If you are on stock 2.3.6 now, you will receive the OTA eventually.

Ok, but now I have ICS and I wan to know if I have the stock recovery or CWM...
Because I flashed it yesterday...

If you boot holding VOL + then go to recovery and you see the Android robot with a ! in a triangle, then you have the stock recovery.

Ok, I have the dead Android...
Thanks...
And, one more question... I need to lock the booloader in order to receive the OTA??

No, you don't need to lock the bootloader. You can even have root.
Edit: Does it look like this?

You need to get a copy of the stock recovery.img. Then place the image in the root of your /sdcard. Reboot to CWM recovery. Connect your PC to your phone.
1. Mount emmc in cwm recovery
2. adb shell
3. su. Don't need root here but can't remember since it has been awhile.
4. dd if=/emmc/recovery.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p22
5. Exit, exit
6. Reboot system

[Q] How do I re-root after un-rooting?

Hi,
A few months back, I unrooted my NS4G in order update to the official ICS release. Initially, I was content with the official ICS on my phone, however, I've come to miss the fun mods and features that are available with custom ROMs. Now, I can't seem to re-root my phone.
The bootloader is still unlocked so I tried going into recovery like old times but received a blank screen with an image of the android bot face down with its back door open and an exclamation point (pictured below).
Please help. Although I've rooted a few phones, including this one, I still feel like a rookie and may be missing something very simple.
Thanks!!!

You need to snag a custom recovery and get the current superuser. After that, you will need to make sure you either edit the script or delete the script in the system so it doesn't overwrit CWM.
Recovery fix: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=27027436&postcount=8
Superuser:http://downloads.noshufou.netdna-cdn.com/superuser/Superuser-3.1.3-arm-signed.zip
CWM
The recovery needs to be pushed while in the bootloader via fastboot
fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.0-crespo4g.img
Recovery first, superuser flash 2nd, fix the recovery last once you've fully booted up.
When the faced down android appears , try pressing volume up button once . Helped me one time.

So how about an update? How are you going with it?
I have had intermittent problems in the past similar to yours, and I was able to solve it - where are you up to?
You should go into a command prompt on your computer then do a fastboot oem lock then unlock. (This will erase all data)
Tell me if this works
Screenshot shows the phone is already unlocked-

Is it possible to flash 4.4.1 without stock recovery?

I can't find up to date info on this anywhere. I reflashed stock kernel and other than twrp and root I'm competely stock. Is it possible to flash 4.4.1 through twrp or what's a simple method of getting stock recovery back?

i flashed the new OTA using twrp.. then i flashed twrp again using fastboot... then i flashed the supersu.1.80 zip.. in twrp...
This is a Nexus, anything is possible.
So I manually flashed all the img files from the 4.4 file, including the userdata one. however I wasn't able to get to the recovery mode screen by presing power + up button so I was stuck on the android exclamation mark and couldn't erase data. When I restarted the phone everything is back to stock BUT I have no signal it seems the radio is broken. wifi is ok. Can anybody help please?

[Q] Scrambled Display

I had My HTC One S working fine with an unlocked bootloader, CWM Recovery, and CyanogenMod 10.2. One day, I get a notice that there's a system update, so I thought, hey that's cool, over the air updates for CyanogenMod. So I do it and now when it boots it looks like this:
{

"lightbox_next": "Next",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
With some difficulty, I was able to get into the bootloader then into CWM. I cleared everything and re-flashed the original CyanogenMod ROM, but it still does this when it boots. It also does not appear to turn on properly. Does anybody know what's going on here?

Your link doesn't work.
I also cannot see any picture of your screen, but I think you mean freaky colours on your screen.
This is due to updated display drivers some time ago on CMs side.
Which means if you use a newer ROM, you also have to use a newer kernel to get the correct colours back.
If you are S-On your kernel won`t be updated by just flashing the firmware, you have to fastboot the kernel afterwards.

Question Last update 1/2/22

Disclaimer, I don't think I have any idea what I'm doing, so please be patient.
I'm not sure if my phone is updating correctly it says that the android security update is 2022-02-01. surely there has to a a newer update than this ?
Is there a simple way to get my phone to update ? I don't care about features or anything like that I just wanted to be safe
yea, u can download mi flash, download latest fastboot and flash it to your phone. remember: that will reset your phone so make the backup of your files. if you need more help write to me, I will be happy to help you step by step how to do it.

Unlock bootloader, download latest Global rom, flash it, lock bootloader.
If you never unlocked the bootloader you must wait 1 week.
I recently set my region to "Poland" to get MIUI 13.0.6 and MIUI 14.0.something. But keep in mind that I am in europe, so I use the EEA/TJUEUXM stock ROM.

After flashing an other rom and then relock the bootloader, you will brick your phone

If it's stock ROM you can lock it even if it's from another region, what are you talking about?
