Hi,
I've looked around for this ( yes I did ^^ ) but there's no answer to be found.
Since the SGR isn't available in Belgium and I have ordered the phone from Germany, I was wondering which accessories are compatible with the SGSII.
As one would think, GSR accessories are hard to come by in Belgium, but there is plenty of SGSII stuff here. I'm in particular looking for a Samsung active car mount, the SGSII looks nice and has great reviews, but nothing for SGR?
Perhaps we could list GSR compatible hardware here?
Thank you
Maybe you could just try if it fits in a shop?
I've compared my phone with a friend of mines Galaxy SII, and I think that there would be no problem using GS2 accessories. Besides cases and screen protectors of course.
Battery and USB OTG works well. HDTV Adapter and Case dont by a few millimeters
Thanks both of you.
I'll be buying and trying the Samsung SII active carholder. Can't try it cause no shop carries it.
I'll post results here!
I'm using SGSII batteries, and i can confirm by myself that works great in SGR
If you go to the samsung web you can see that in the compatible question, if you put galaxy R it gives you "not compatible" ... but If you put only galaxy it gives you "compatible" I think it doesn't work well in the global version of the web.
Anyway, why are you looking for the original Samsung active car mount for SII ? If you want to use a protective back cover it will be useless! I think it's better to try for an universal car holder, because it will be great if you have no battery and a friend puts her phone into your car holder while your phone is charging (this has happened to me traveling by car around Poland). If you have the SG2 car holder it could be only for your phone.
Otherwise, if you want to try and not to spend a lot of money, buy the car holder for SG2 in dealextreme and try if it fits. If not, you only loose 7-8€, but it looks like it fits perfectly. The cheapest car holder for SG2 in dealextreme goes with a car battery charger (look for "Car Swivel Mount Holder w/ Car Charger Set for Samsung i9100 Galaxy S2" ) and looks great with abs plastic like the original one from Samsung.
I can now confirm. The SII carkit from Samsung itself DOES fits the Royal.
Fits like a glove. A tight latex sexy glove .
Yes, it is a bit tight, but that was to be expected, everything works, and no fear of breaking. Just the coiled powercable included is annoying for my Audi A3, so friggin' short!

Hi on your car holder "speaker line out" work?

Samsung announced before the galaxy s line was released that all phones were getting among other things, a car mount. Its the only accessory I have really been pining after. Anyone have any idea about when its coming out?
car mount
I got a generic one off of ebay for $5. the suction cup is worthless but it came with spring loaded vent hooks also which keep it secure in my truck
i have a feeling it has something to do with the line out not working till froyo comes out, like with the home dock. at least i hope so. if we see froyo without a car dock i'm gonna be pissed.
I've ordered two of the Media Docks, $20 each shipped. One will stay in my office on my desk, the other I will be customizing to fit into the ashtray of my X5 so I don't have to fumble with the car charger and headphone cords anymore since 2.2 will enable the headphone jack on the dock through the MicroUSB port.
I finally just got rid of Sirius because my new car has bluetooth that I can play slacker through. Soooo I went and ordered one for $5 off ebay. I dont expect it to be top notch.... but as long as it holds the phone I am good.

This is one thing I've been waiting for since I got my epic on release day. Starting to get sick of waiting. I want to probably get the Arkon beanbag mount but I hate that it doesn't come with a car charger and it's so freakin hard to find a car charger that has an angeled head (on the point that plug into the phone) so I don't have a goofy wire curved around the top of the phone.
I still do not have any mount or car charger yet as I still want to wait for the official dock but my patience is wearing very thin on this issue

Proclip vehicle mount with adjustable ipod holder works 100% perfectly and allows enough adjustment to use with Epic bare or with any of the common snap on cases and such.
This was my biggest concern when I got the phone as well as I wasn't a fan of the top-mounted usb input Samsung chose to go with when most other devices are (logically IMO) bottom-mounted precisely because of cradling convenience.
I picked up a Bracketron universal vent mount. I then got a 3' car charger (straight) and a 3' stereo cable to input the audio into my radio. I lashed the two cables together about every 6" with black wire ties. It's really only a little over 1' from my radio to the mount, but I just let them loop over and hang down the left side onto the center of the console when I'm not in the car. And the extra length is nice as it allows you to easily pull the cables to you when you hop in the car for a quick/easy plug in before putting the phone in the dock. Perhaps not the most elegant solution, but it's passable and semi-efficient until a more official solution comes out (and even then I'm not a big fan of the landscape layout.)
This thread needs pics and links! I recently tried some little cheapy one at WalMart for $7, and while it was a super tight fit, it bounced around too much while driving to make it reasonably viewable to watch movies at the same time.
I did this with my epic and used a cheap crappy case I found on eBay and the cradle/mount from Garmin Nuvi.

Samsung Epic 4G Rubberized Hard Case Cover Black
Although any generic hard case works.
I ordered one from talkietech.com. $48.90 shipped.

$32 shipped.
Anyone get one? I am guessing by the look that it does not work with a case.
Can anyone post a few more detailed pics when they get it please? I'd like to know a few things like if it has a connection for audio out, and does it work? If not, can you plug in a 3.5 audio cable or does the mount obstruct the jack? How does the "cradle' attach to the "mount"? Could one use just the cradle part with their own mount? How much tilt/swivel does it allow for? TIA

Has anyone seen a car dock available yet? I'm coming in from a long line of WinMo phones from the Tilt2 all the way back and even on Ebay I've been able to find SOMETHING. So far either for the DesireHD or the Inspire it's a little barren. Anyone seen anything useful? I don't need speakerphone or anything like that, just charging.
I installed this under the driver's seat for my tilt2 and now use it with the inspire.

Let us know how his works when you get it. I don't think it is an official HTC doc as I cannot find it on their website. I am interested in the "special cord" that enables the car doc...is this the same thing as the N1? Maybe this does not work on the I4G

So today I got the mount I posted in a previous post as well as a silicone skin that ordered from the same guy on eBay. Generally when you buy something so cheap from China you expect it's crap and it'll go in the trash the moment you get them, but believe it or not both are pretty good, especially the skin. I got them together for $8.50, arived only a week after shipping, and he even through in a free screen protector.
Graded
Skin - A.
Pros
Great quality, really helps with the slick feeling of the phone. Fits like a glove.
Cons
It makes the unlock and volume buttons even harder to press but not too hard.
Mount - B.
Pros
Fits the phone exactly, pretty stable for plastic. Easy to assemble
Cons
Would have been nicer if it was metal, wish it could fit the phone with the skin. Took me a bit to figure out how it worked since it didn't come with any instructions.

I tried several plug-and-play kits before and never had good luck. I finally broke down and bought arrot MKI 9100 which along with a harness for my vehicle cost ~$200 at crutchfield. The install took about an hour and I am one happy camper
I bought this is a FM transmitter car charger it works but in bumpy roads or when i twist it in a sertain way it loses signal to my stereo i just twist it around and it works again but this problem almost never happens.
It does not Say its for the Inspire but if that cellphone has a screen as big as this one it will fit

I'm currently using Mountek CD slot mount.
I've tried pretty much every type of mount and this is the best IMO:
- No bouncing whatsoever.
- Puts the phone in optimal position on the center console
- No need for suction cup or double side tape on dash
- Portable. Came in handy during a recent vacation.
- $20

I actually bought the same exact mount from another site it was like a dollar more but I bought a few other things so it worked out to about the same price and all from one place. I love the design of it and I drive a 2007 Focus so the vents are in the PERFECT spot for this. I hate suction cup mounts with a passion because I'm really anal about my window being clean lol. What's nice about this particular mount too is the fact that they sell different mounts that simply just swap the phone holder. They sell bike mounts, suction cups, and more on the site I picked it up from.

*edit* Just realized that the site is sold out of the vent mount at the moment.

If you want wireless charging on the fly yes. Otherwise get any of the universal ones on amazon or ebay. I have an arkon, kropsson aero, and Xenomix. All work, but all have their flaws and benefits. You need to search around the accessories threads and read up.
I am very picky when it comes to car mounts. I hate how ugly all the universal mounts look with the large claws on the sides. I was spoiled by the original nexus one OEM car mount. I want something that looks like its made for the phone.
A couple of phones back I had a Nokia n9. While looking for a car dock I found one made for a Nokia n8. Get on amazon and do a search for a Nokia cr-122. This mount will fit almost any phone and it looks like it was made to fit your specific phone. Its expandable. It fit my n9, my HTC one s, my girls iPhone, and my nexus 4. Its great. And reasonably priced as well. I will get some pictures up as soon as I find em.

I'm finding this works well with the N4 (landscape) as the N4 has such a smooth flat rear surface (even with a XtremeGuard style protector on it). Famous last words... but I don't fear it will fall off. It really sticks, but easily 'peels' off . I just wipe the 'sticky circle' with a damp cloth periodically. It's not an adhesive, but feels like tacky glue.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/FoneM8-Wind...s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1359837727&sr=1-224
I actually stick the above to one of these. Easy to move out of sight, and it doesn't seem to slide on the dash. Also NO damage to dash/easily movable between cars

I liked the Nexus one car mount as well, but hardly used it and sold it soon afterwards because I use cases and taking the phone case on and off is a hassle. But I guess if you are running a nekkid nexus 4, I can see why you would like the OEM type mounts.
I ended up using the proclip mount with the USB charger built in, and a Bluetooth adapter for the audio. All I have to do is slide it in and go.
After looking at the various options I too didn't like the bulky mounts. I went for the Mountek cradle and I'm really happy with it. Fast delivery too.
Here's something you wouldn't expect...
... the car mount that I use for my Samsung Galaxy S3 (which I believe was originally for the AT&T Galaxy Blaze 4G) fits the Nexus 4 perfectly! The phone fits securely, charges through the USB connector and exposes the headset port on the top. Unfortunately, you cannot use the USB audio out portion of the dock.

It will work with the flip cover as long as you get the adjustable one, I was using with the cover closed, just don't put the right side in and you can still flip open but tight. And I also used it with the cover flipped behind, just had to adjust the holder to fit the leather flip on the left side and the phone on the right. I will post pictures after I go back to the case, using a slim armor for the time being, it fits good too.

I assume you meant the dock and not the dock holder?
Why do you keep buying all these docks?
I would recommend the Craigsdock dock. The one single dock will work with all Galaxy series phones, including Note II. So you just buy one dock and it fits them all. And you don't have to worry about whether you have an extended battery or cover. It still fits. And all in a slimmer/smaller package than the ProClip and with a better (IMO) charging solution.
I've had the ProClip dock. I like the Craigsdock dock better. And with the Craigsdock, you can change the type of USB connector easily. For non-carhome mode, for USB-OTG or for any other type of MicroUSB connector you may need. And it's an easy swapout.
Just a heads up.
Though the ProClip dock "holder/mounting base" is pretty nice.

Unless you can plug in the mhl adapter to the male end of the usb lead and from there into the charger via some sort of adapter.

That's why I'm looking at the one with the molex connector. It was so easy with the iPhone. You just plugged the iPhone cable into the bottom of the holder. I was kinda hoping it would be the same with the s4 one.

I think the difference is that there is somewhat of a standard with Apple dock/lightning cables, but it's a zoo with micro-USB male adapters. There's no standard shape for them to machine to. I suppose they could match the OEM cable, but most people only have one of those.
Hey there, I have been looking everywhere for a windshield/dashboard car mount that supports devices up to 17mm (Think that's the thickness of the Galaxy S4 covered by the Zerolemon 7500mAh battery case). But the max thickness is rarely displayed and when it is, it only goes as far as 13mm.
It would have to fit a stock Galaxy S4, Galaxy S4 with the 7500mAh Zerolemon battery and a stock Galaxy S3.
Is there anyone out there that's using his Zerolemon S4 with a car mount? Let me know
Thank you in advance!

It would not surprise me at all if the Craigsdocks dock fit that battery. It's a tiny, aluminum dock that is incredibly adjustable for a perfect, tight fit everytime.
The one dock fits S4, S3, Note II, Note III, etc.
The MicroUSB connector slides up & down to fit different thickness cases. Once you get the right fit, you just tighten a tiny screw to hold it in place.
Mine was adjusted once and has been rock solid for several months now.
And it's got a built-in MicroUSB so you just drop the phone into the dock and it's charging. No messing around with two hands, putting the phone into the dock, then plugging the cable into the phone, like I had to do with my old iBolt.

It clips on to the vent so doesn't get in the way of the windscreen and you don't need to worry about it falling off, which a lot of the suction cups do. Most importantly it holds on to all kinds of phones, no matter how thick, and is easy to attach and remove. Pretty sweet and really cheap!
ZeroLemon fits xProDock...

DrRundo, See below images taken with the zeroLemon battery and an S3. The xProDock from iBOLT works great together with this 7400mA battery as the feet expands to fit a case/battery up to 19mm. It is also vibration free so you can use the camera as dashcam if you want. If you have an S4 the fit is virtually identical. Also note on the screen shot that the Dock puts the phone into "DockMode", which give you a dedicated "home screen" (free Dock'n Drive App from Google Play). The microUSB charging cable also takes the audio out from Apps to a 3.5 mm aux out plug so if you car has an aux-in you can listen to the music and GPS sound through the car speakers (no phone calls though, only "App sound".) If you want to buy one, just type "xProDock" into Amazon for best pricing.
