Just a little question about the Razorclaw root method.
I used Razorclaw to root my transformer.
Actually I can't update my firmware because if I update it I loose the root as explained in the Post:
"How to Root the ASUS Transformer."
I Found the Post named:
"TUT] Get the 21 OTA Update and keep ROOT"
this Post talk about the application OTA Rootkeeper. Apparently you can use it to "freeze" the root files and update your firmware. I f you loose the root after reboot open Voodo OTA RootKeeper and you can restore the root.
I need to know if someone, who used Razorclaw method, tried to use it to update the transformer firmware 8.6.5.19 by 8.6.5.21 with success ?

I tried this method in the morning...
i updated my TF101G to .23 and restored root, but it didnt work. it wouldnt restore it, and i was left unrooted. luckily u can now use nachoroot to do it easy and simple.
150ish mb download and follow the tutorial and ur set
8.6.6.23 on TF101G rooted, installed su and busybox.

I used razorclaw on TF 8.6.5.19. Used OTA rootkeeper to backup root.
Then OTA update 8.6.5.21 and restores root with OTA Rootkeeper.
But indeed you can also use nachoroot now to get root on .21.

I just got my TF101 and rooted it with Razorclaw. Now the tablet working perfect but I still get the notifcation to update firmware. If I clik update....I suppose that I will loose my root. Someone told me to do this:
¨You should be able to use the app "OTA Rootkeeper" to back up your root privileges and then do a firmware update and then restore root privileges after updating with the same tool.¨
If I understand correctly I can install OTA Rootkeeper and after I can update firmware without unrooting and get back my root privilege with OTA Rootkeeper.
Am I right?

OTA Rootkeeper will save your root files. You will loose root when you update but use OTA Rootkeeper
to restore your root.
If that fail you can use NachoRoot.

Hey guys i have a TF101G still on original Asus android honeycomb 3.2.1. I'm waiting for the OTA ICS update, but i was wondering if i will be able to do it, beacuse i rooted the tab with nachoroot.
I just have Superuser, no clockwork, no modded roms etc.

Are you asking if you can install the official Asus update via OTA? If so, I don't see why not but you'll have to wait for them to release it. If rooting is the only thing you've done then OTA updates should install fine but you will lose root after the upgrade. I would recommend you wait for a custom tf101g rom to come out.

So long as you did not remove (or freeze) any pre-installed apps and still have stock recovery it should update. You may want to grab the VooDoo OTA Rootkeeper to back up your root and then run it after the update to restore root. You will probably have to use Titanium Backup to restore permissions to SuperUser. The other option is to do NachoRoot (or ViperMod Option 1) after the ICS update.
Hi, I have not yet upgraded to JellyBean because I do not know if it is possible to only root to the TF700.

If you are not on JB already and want to root your device, you should root it now, install SuperSU and Voodoo OTA Root Keeper, then run SuperSU, then OTA Root Keeper and save your root, then upgrade to JB, then restore root using OTA Root Kepper.

SuperSU.
SuperSU License.
Remember:
Install SuperSU + Voodoo OTA Root Keeper
Run SuperSU
Run a program needing Root privileges and check that it is SuperSU that is prompting, not SuperUser.
Run Voodoo OTA Root Keeper, then remove backup, then create backup (to make sure the backup is using SuperSU)
Upgrade to JB
If needed: Install SuperSU + Voodoo OTA Root Keeper (depending on your method of upgrading to JB, these may have been uninstalled)
Try to run a program needing Root privileges to see if root survived by itself.
If not, Run Voodoo OTA Root Keeper, restore root
These should be the steps necessary for you to have root survive an upgrade to JB (note: I haven't been able to upgrade to JB myself, so this is just information I have collected from various other sources. Proceed at your own risk...)
Is it possible to make a backup of voodoo root keeper from one tablet which is already root and backup on another one which is stock ?

Can I run the procedure directly with SuperUser?
I do not have to force install SuperSU?
I hadn't used my TF700 in a while and when the update came down, I completely forgot it was even rooted and went ahead with the JB update. Sadly, and of course, I lost root. It wasn't one of my smarter moments. Any known way of getting root on JB thus far? I know the unlock tool still works for JB.
Well, I made a recovery for JB, grab the recovery, and install the SuperSU.zip, that seemed to work well for me, so give it a try.
For me worked with Superuser, did not installed SuperSU.
Rooted the ICS, installed Superuser, updated su binary from Superuser. Installed Voodoo OTA Root Keeper and made backup. Installed JB and restored su from Voodoo OTA Root Keeper.
BTW I did not unroot or did something before updating to Jelly Bean. Just enabled all bloatware from Asus that were disabled in Apps.

In Superuser settings you will see the version of the su binary. Tap on it and update window will popup. You will be able to update your su binary.
I've run the voodoo with superuser and made me up.
Can you tell me where I find the backup it so well on the SD when formatting the internal memory?

Assuming you manage to get JB installed (I haven't :crying, then it most likely will still be rooted when you reboot. Try running Voodoo OTA Root Keeper after boot and see if you have Root privileges (are there 'X' in all items)? If not, you should have an option to restore root.

Yesterday, I upgraded the firmware when prompted and lost root access; SuperSu app is still there but show an error when I run it because no more root.
I tried to run motochopper again but still I can't get root.
Can someone please help me step by step how I can restore root access? Do i have to update ROM?

upgrading removes root, always, your su executable will still be there but not usable as when rooted.
for this there is a nice app called OTA RootKeeper, which you should install right after rooting, and which lets you make a backup of your root, so that you can temp-unroot when upgrading and restore root when you finished.
you'll have to get rooted again, how, i guess will depend on what version you got upgraded to.

If you upgraded to 10.6.1.14.10 you're out of luck with Motochopper. Asus seems to have plugged the hole that exploit used. Check your firmware version under About Tablet > Build Number
You can downgrade to 10.6.1.14.8, root with Motochopper and then use OTA Rootkeeper as described above.
Dwnld the .8 firmware for your SKU from the Asus Support Downloads site, unzip the file once (resulting in another zip), put that zip into the root of your internal storage, reboot and you should get a notification to downgrade.

I copied it into the root of the sd internal storage, but no pop-up window showed-up telling me there is an update , I rebooted the device with no notification and I even tried a cold boot with no sucess.
Is there something i do wrong?

Yes, I just had to do that. Make sure you have a good Titanium backup or similar. Also, backup any other things like pictures and etc.

You need to download the firmware, not the source code. Also make sure you get the correct firmware for your SKU (WW, US, etc.).
I made a mistake I downloaded source code instead of firmware, my bad.
Well I think I will give up to try to get back my root access, that too much risk to downgrade and lost all my data. I hope a new motochopper version will implement another exploit to fix that!

MotoChopper wasn't designed for the TF700T, it was just pure luck that it worked so i don't think that a new version will be out soon, but maybe we will be lucky enough to get some other tool which can root the new firmware... time will tell.
As I mentioned, I rooted my tf700t and installed stock non-rooted 4.2.1 JB rom from Asus' site. But now I need to root the device again. I tried to do this with Motochopper but it said that root is already exists in my device.
How can I handle with this ?

Motochopper can't root the latest .10 update. I think you can go to .8, root with motochopper and then use voodoo ota rootkeeper to keep root via ota update.
