Hi,
I am a dev for the Advent Vega, POV mobii tegra, Viewpad 10".
I am pissed off @ xda because of the unfriendly treatment of new members (even though I am a dev, with enough experience). I will never post my ROM on a ****ty site like XDA, I had to spam 13 posts (deeply sorry for it) and still I cannot make my own thread in development, well I give up.
To all Advent Vega, POV, Viewpad users:
If you want my ROM here it is:
(LINKS REMOVED)
On a far better website then XDA will ever be.
To XDA:
You won't ever see me here again, if you want to be the most unfriendly site on the internet go ahead
Areo
So in your opinion, what would be better? To grant everyone and their dog full power to start threads in developement sections?
It's 10 posts, 10 posts where you can introduce yourself, help people, reply to the forums rules or other. I don't think XDA is asking for much here.
If that alone is too "unfriendly" for you, even though the point is to save moderators work, then I guess you can go anywhere else on the internet. XDA is definitely too harsh on the poor devs, hurting their feelings and such.

Seriously? Scared off by the fact that XDA has some basic safeguards to prevent people from trashing the Developer forums? Stop being petty and thing outside the box for about 10 seconds and you will realize that this precaution is to help you, not annoy you. This isn't a ROM hosting site like tablet ROMs. It is a developer's forum that happens to also have ROM links.

So whos with me in saying ban your_helpfull_hand for being more of a unhelpfull_hand.

i aggree. i think that people just dont read stickies... good post. you should see the magic section. OMG ITS NOOB CENTRAL over there
I think the mods have already told enough people to stop flaming today. Just leave the guy alone and mature a bit before committing yourself to a community.
It certainly would be nice if something like the text "IF YOU'VE NEVER COOKED A ROM THIS FORUM IS NOT FOR YOU" could be placed prominently at the head of the index page. If that doesn't work I'd be happy to see the system ask anti-spam questions about the Android source tree before allowing new threads to be posted
As much as I appreciate this thread being opened I'm not sure it will make any difference. If new users don't read the stickies, why would they read this thread??
Instead why not just report new threads if their query has been asked before??
For this thread to remain effective it would also need to appear near the top of this forum so users would need to continually post in this thread or else it would need to be made sticky. But we already have a sticky thread with the same purpose, so again I'm not sure I see the need for this thread to remain
For the above reasons I am closing this thread.
Once again, I appreciate your efforts and I hope you see why I felt the need to close this thread
Rick
im not able to post anything inside a thread i need help please
It may be due to your post count. Some sections require you to have 5-8 posts (decided randomly) to post in that section.

what do you mean by that
I guess double posting in your own thread could possibly work. You can also reply to peoples threads, helping them, or you can agree/disagree with their comments (nicely of course, dont flame)
did you ever think about why these restrictions are on board? It is a way for the user to actually get to know the community a litte better, before posting in sensitive-threads (the dev-forums for example).
What you are doing now is actively circumvent the restrictions, because you obviously want something.
ya..i also cant reply to some threads
The post count restriction is 10 in dev forums as far I know, please respect the rules. I cannot yet post yet in those forums either, but I know it is for good reason. Double posting in your own thread is just not right. Try helping some people out (in allowable boards), or ask a question in another relevant board you can post to.

You CAN post, just not in the development forums. Those forums are for developers to release stuff or for people to reply to their topics which you have no need to do at this moment in time, any question you can think of asking has ALREADY been asked, and the thing you should do is use the search button.
u made my day.
im rofling now
I guess we just have to do 10 meaningless posts here to get to the point where we can reply to things of interest.
Yeah no doubt. After countless pages of reading, I can't ask a question in regards to an issue with a rom. I understand about filtering out noob questions but if for some of us that are reading counltess pages without finding an answer, we should be able to post something.

ffs, you CAN, just not in the dev section. You can post in the OS's Q&A section if you like, nothing stopping you.
Also how do you expect the system to know that you have actually 'read' something? And as I said before, anything you can think of asking about has already been answered and is likely covered in the guides/sticky threads or other topics and is easily found by searching.
not to be rude but instead of complaining about it take the advice given previously and go post your opinion in someone's question thread or go look for someone who had a problem you had and try to answer it...getting 10 posts by talking in this thread is just...meh, but your choices.

A quick glance at your recent posts has me wondering if you post anything useful or just bash other people. You comment " anything you can think of asking about has already been answered and is likely covered in the guides/sticky threads or other topics and is easily found by searching." is arrogant to say the least. I have been reading posts daily for the last few months. I have 4 different ROMS I flash each time they make changes for my device. Trust me nobody has posted on issues that cropped up in a ROM that has been out for 1 day. 'nuff said.
@OP you should be able to post in any threads as the new policy is not retroactive for old members with <10 posts, if the issue is persistent PM Forum Admin MikeChannon

He offcourse does not answered my question, he did nothing. Pretty normal i guess.
Then i jump into discussion on general about how stupid and unlogicall this rule is... Which is in fact making more spam, not preventing spam at all.
Thread was removed. Pretty normal i guess.
But why ffs moderator is removing my post here on general about what smartphone i'm using on "what smartphone you are using" thread? Why removing my normal posts?
Why moderator is making bad things to me? What is the reason? Bad day? Girl dumps ya? Hating world?

It basically goes like this, and its exactly the same on Linux forums: Moderators have little interaction in the real world and thus, have little influence upon their own destiny apart from that which goes on within the four walls that encompasses their computer. Therefore the only stimuli to their mental state is via the keyboard and computer screen. They were probabley taken out of school by over protective parents that still to this day dont understand how they managed to procreate. To the moderator, forums means power. The more rules there are on a forum equals more power. These forums have lots of rules, so that means the moderators have lots and lots of power, and that makes them happy, and in their world, makes them successful. Unless you are a fellow moderator, then they don't feel the need to respond to your private message, because, as we have already discussed, they have had no interaction with the real, or physical world, therefore have no sense or awareness of being rude, ignorant, or plain stupid.
If, on the other hand, I'm wrong, then moderators can post evidence by posting photographs and vids of them playing sports, out with girls, working with other people (sending email doesn't count), on holiday with family and friends, and generally interacting directly with other human beings (interviews with your shrink doesnt count).
Thats it in a nutshell.

And this is precisely why I am closing the thread. As an administrator of the site, I am asking you to please refrain from creating (yet another) follow-up thread.
As I stated in the previous thread, there is a proper way to go about handling issues with moderators. Publicly making fun of the entire group does not qualify.
I have created this new thread to enable people to suggest possible improvements that can be made to the already great XDA site. It could possibly allow admins to scroll through the thread and employ the suggestions.
My suggestion would be to add a box to the arrows and numbers that allow you to move through thread pages. In this box you could enter a number that would allow you to move to a certain page. I think this is important because many threads have hundreds of pages. This is my kind of lame idea.
Please feel free to post any ideas, of course you must abide by the xda rules.
I have put this thread in the (i think) most appropriate place. Sorry if it isn't to peoples liking.
Enjoy
Yeah
Yes this sounds like a good idea.
Could be a hit with some people.
I suggest XDA making it clear how to rank up (eg: from junior member to senior member or recognized developer etc). As a new guy here, that hasn't really been introduced.
Here's my suggestion, though it will likely never pan out: Include a VIP Section within each of the existing forums, whereas Senior Members and Developers can discuss topics, without being flooded with mundane and repetitive n00b questions and comments. Heck, it could even be by "invitation only" for those who aren't Senior Members yet or Developers/Hackers, but those that still are contributors and can participate upon approval. To summarize, less crap more hack...

Great
This is a great idea. My suggestion would be for xda to make it clear when certain things are unlocked. (signature). Similar idea to the first one.
Just a couple of points to make...
Firstly, this General forum is for "Anything that involves all of the phones and doesn't fit in any of the other fora", so it's not a forum about the site itself. For that you want the About xda-developer.com forum, as mentioned above.
Secondly, it's a great idea. So great that it's already been done
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=276306
If you want to make suggestions about the site then that's a great place to do it as it's usually rife with mods and members who know what they're talking about.
I agree there should be a 10 20 30 > 50 100 >> option for some of these threads on older roms for instance to help scroll through if ever trying to locate link once seen posted some time ago in an old thread. I have run into this problem may be new at posting to here but a long time reader.
The new design is bugged it kinda refreshes like 200 times
