[Q] How do we get our XT720 officially supported in CyanogenMod ? - Milestone XT720 General

so i was checking this out http://www.cyanogenmod.com/devices
and noticed all the officially supported devices
i know you guys have week doing a great deal of work on CM6 and CM7 which i'm sure me and everybody else here is very grateful about.
but How can we get our device to be officially recognized over there?
I'm sure we'll get a much greater interest / development going on, if more people are aware the XT720 is stable and being developed by you guys

excessive drooling due to Android 2.3

When will the Android 2.3 ROMs start showing up?
Soon as they get the bugs worked out
You can see working "tech demos" under the i9000 Galaxy forum as well as other Samsung forums.
AND... I think just about every other "major" brand of phone currently has someone working on it lol. Just need to browse around the dev forums and see if your phone has someone working on a port.
Thank you! I can't wait!!
Beat you guys to it
Sent from my HTC Hero CDMA on 2.3.2
Look at the post date, january 5th. There are 2.3 ROMs out now for many phones, I don't think this question needed to be revived. :/
When will my motorola milestone will get 2.3!!!!
I really hope that hTC doesnt drag their feet on getting me 2.3 for my Incredible!
I would guess that 2.3 is still quite a ways off from manufacturer releases.

Did i read this right? Devs have their hands on gingerbread, are porting to devices

http://www.xda-developers.com/andro...her-phones-heres-our-frequently-updated-list/
Thread title says it all.
They have the AOSP source code so yes many phones have gingerbread right now but not an official release or anything like that
cyanogenmod 7 nightlies start next week.
Moved to general
Allenfx,
I went to several of the sites and as I understand it what has been done is release the stock Android 3.0 Honeycomb stuff to the developers. But now they will have to tailor it to the hardware of the individual devices. I did see tegra2 stuff where I looked.
So I think you might say it is coming. But it will depend on how long it takes to get all the drivers and settings to work.
It will not be a quick process like the updates for VEGAn, TNT, etc. Much more work and detail to be done.
If this doesn't answer the question, someone straighten me out!
Rev
Nice to know its being worked on
Not sure it makes any sense to spend too much time working on GTablet ports to Gingerbread (i.e. Android 2.3) when I'd expect that Honeycomb (Android 3.0) devices will be out shortly and the Honeycomb source will drop for AOSP use within a couple of weeks of the first device -- which looks like it may be the Motorola Xoom...
As mentioned, Cyanogenmod 7 will be Gingerbread and will likely be the first ported to the GTablet (assuming that there isn't too much driver tweaking involved between Froyo and GB)
2.3-3.0
I think we will see gingerbread in early summer officially released by viewsonic, although modders here will most likely have a great Rom based on 2.3 before then. My bet(just my opinion) we wont see Honeycomb on the G tab until sometime in the fall.
Would love to be wrong and see 3.0 sooner.....

What is your source for Gingerbread being available in summer from Viewsonic?
Source Please?
Notice how he said "I think" and "my opinon". The source is himself.

That was a little joke for my amusement.
But thank you, I think you made my point for me. I had made a comment in another post and gave my opinion and wantadroid asked me to site my source of information (inside info). I posted that I have read... and I got this reply:
"Please give us your inside info on the hardware problems.... I haven't found A thing to make me believe the G tab won't EVENTUALLY get Honeycomb."

Is there any way to port ICS on the droid to the milestone?

Hey everyone,
An early ICS build has been created for the Droid, and if the droid is getting 71mb of free ram while running ICS, I believe our milestones can handle it too. I'm not a developer by any means, and I have seen kabaldan write about the limitations in terms of hardware, but if it is possible on the droid, could it potentially be ported to the milestone despite the bootloader?

+1 somebody please?
I don't think it will work well on our milestone, sadly the bootloader prevents some optimizations that are very useful, but then again we have some great developers on the community so I don't know.
It's maybe possible on A853. -0-

Yes, of course it can be build & run on our *stone*
please note they don't touch the kernel ^^
@lnwtumza95
is this Sense on Milestone?
Yes it is,but not suitable for daily life because lack of some function and ram.
PS.Wish someone could port this to A853

Actually Kabaldan made a much more recent post saying that he is working on porting CM9 to the milestone Don't really feel like digging it up, but it was made in December I'm pretty sure
Yes, he did but you are missing the key point. He said he would *try*, not that it's totally doable.

The link not help us!
Its from November and now we on December..
And kabdalan say ther that ICS will not get to milestone that what i understand..
So you say that cm9 will get for milestone?
I asked on cm post on this forum but he dont ansawre to me.. he dont have answare to me or what?
Please try to ask him to get a answare update(past 1 month prom then November to today Decmber..)
Yes, it is very helpful. Kab looked at the sources, saw what needs to be done, and reported it.
Facts do not just change over time...
Also, there is a reason the Droid and Milestone have two different dev forums.
I know of two devs who are working on it...
Porting pre-alpha builds released only in binary form, made for another device, is a waste of time.
There's still a lot of work to be done in the source to make ics builds eventually usable for our kind of devices (= older omap3 motorola phones).
Use the Source, Luke! ;P

I would like to know as well.
Or is it possible to flash in any unofficial JB?
I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that the JB update has little-to-nothing to do with Sprint, but rather, Motorola itself. At the very least, I don't think that the update has any interaction with Sprint at the current time, since as far as I can tell, Motorola still has to finish building the JB software for their phone, and make sure that it doesn't break anything. It also doesn't help that they have at least two other devices (RAZR HD and RAZR MAXX HD) that they have declared will get the Android 4.1 update before 2013, so obviously they'll be focusing on these two devices first and foremost.
Information on Motorola's update schedule can be found here.
As for unofficial JB ROMs, you can always keep an eye on the two Android Development subforums for the Photon Q (Android Development and Original Android Development) to see what kinds of mods, ROMs, etc. have been developed and released. I have yet to see anything particularly stable, and I myself am still running the most recent official build of Android 4.0.4 that Moto released not too long ago. Anything beyond that is definitively use-at-your-own risk, as I have yet to find any ROMs that are even in Beta, much less have a stable release.

Developing CyanogenMod for the Huawei Ascend G600 U8950N-51

NOT the Chinese model U8950D, the Australia/American U8950N-51 model
Just curious to see if any development has gone underway for this phone yet, as the specs are really decent but (like most phones) it is let down a little by the stock firmware
Any news at all? I know the firmware hasn't officially been released, but perhaps drivers from devices with similar hardware could be ported?

hey, ive got a u8950n-51, bootloader unlocked, ready to test anything anyone does develop. I bought it as a spare so i'm happy to test beta's etc. if i find the time I'm tempted to try my hand at rom porting and see what can be done. but its going to be sooooo much easier if an experienced developer can do this!
