I think you've never used Sygic .
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium

NDrive maybe good but it is also expensive - I would have to fork out 100€ to get all the maps that I normally use.

Warez I fear.
When will people start reading the rules?

its not warez, its just free for middle east. you can download it from samsung apps.

If that is the case I suggest you edit your OP to save people not in the Middle East messing around with it.
By the way, it isn't usable across the Middle East. It just allows use of Iranian maps.

why everybody so crazy about this. You can install it and see if its free for you or not. if its free its ok. if not, just share ur damn comment.

gps app?

is there a good gps mapping app for windows mobile smartphone (standard)
im looking for the ability to create a map of just my city but that is just an option
Attached Googlemaps. Free app. Pretty good resolution, should help you with your city thing.
Google is really cool but the IE toolbar is evil.
Thanks for this app !
Just for the sake of completeness check the Live Search 2.5 from Microsoft as well. My impression is that it's a bit slower that G, but has some nice extra features.
nav4all
Hi
try www.nav4all.com
There is a free tracking program called GPSed that will track you via GPS an give many stats. You can then upload and view your track on Google earth. It is very handy for bikers, runners, and such.

map of Paris using GPS

hello,
could any1 help me with a link to any program or map that can help me to navigate by foot in Paris ?
Google Maps are not really that helpfull as they don`t show street names or the main attractions on the side of the streets. (or if they do I don`t know how to set it)
thank you in advance
I know there are some Sat Nav apps, such as CoPilot, TomTom and Navigon. I haven't tried any of them but I too am interested in these types of apps so maybe someone can point us to a review or something.
Have you tried Live Search from Microsoft .
Very good and I think just beats Google Maps.
Most other apps are paid apps and you can view webs sites that sell them to see what they can do .
I like the look of Navmii as a relative new comer to the arena.

aMetro - Transit systems handbook - subway,buses, trains, etc. all over the world

Hi all,
We're developing a small completely free application named aMetro.
It shows the maps of transit systems all over the world in OFFLINE – subways, buses, trains, and other. You can find the right route between stations and estimate travel time (of course, if map contains appropriate data about travel time between stations).
As data source we're using a collection of maps from pMetro project (it's a desktop application for Win32 systems on Russian language, you can download it from www.pmetro.su). It is a very detailed maps collection of Russian cities, but also contains not-perfect (but still useful) maps of the biggest cities all over the world.
Current features are:
Offline transit system maps of about 180 cities (with different details, of course)
View maps for other kinds of transportation.
Zoom maps.
Find the shortest route between stations.
Support multilanguage interface.
Update maps automatically.
Find the nearest station (currently for Moscow and St. Petersburg only).
Zoom with multitouch.
Nearest future plans:
Get information about stations.
Select station (and create routes) by touching map.
Map editor
Our project site: www.ametro.org
We need help with translation our application from russian+english to other languages. Also, we need help with data collection and map fixing.
Your help will be highly appreciated!

Yes, they are both contains metro/subway routing.
But aMetro works completely offline, and contains map views and some other userful information.
This will be perfect for when I go to Japan in October, will keep an eye on this, thanks!
new version released
1.0.8: added French localization, fixed some minor bugs
Brussels Metro. Redesigned and Updated map + GPS
We completely redesigned map of the Brussels Metro. Now it is up to date (Wikipedia), added 2 lines of the tram and GPS-coordinates of the metro stations. Now "Where am I?" function is available in Brussels.
If you configured check for updates and auto-update of the maps, wait for it, or update the online catalog from the menu manually and apply the updated maps.
P.S. If you want to enable "Where am I?" function in your city please contact us. We'll say how to collect and format a file with GPS coordinates to use with this programm.
I like the offline possibility. Very nice project!
Great project!! Very useful indeed.
I loved the app. Until now it works well on my HTC Desire. I liked the way its organized and the features on it. Everything worked out of the box in a pretty simple way.
Maybe you could add an option to show station name in local language so local purple could understand when we show them where I want to go

We could add "default language" option in settings, but we don't have enough resources to add native localizations to entire set of maps.
We going to create map editor in future, so people could add native localization by yourself
Vienna U-Bahn
Updated map of Vienna U-Bahn - added 6 new stations.
Hi, I've downloaded the app and it looks very nicely. However, is it possible for users to contribute to the development of maps. For instance the Rotterdam metro map can be expanded with the new names for the different lines (A,B,C,etc), some new metro stations were constructed, but maybe also to include tramlines? The same goes to The Hague and some other cities I know about.
I've downloaded pMetro and pMetroEditor, but the UI-language is - I guess - Russian. Is there a better working English version of the tools, or you want to keep the development of maps limited to the original developers?

You could send us detailed change list or link to information about it. Or you could send it directly to author of pMetro.
Or, if changes are simple enough - you could make they in simple text editor.
These maps have very simple text format. We have an instruction on russian and its english draft, so we can publish it if anyone could help us to complete it.
We're going to create map editor in near future, after we add multitouch and selection stations on map in aMetro application.
If anybody wants to create editor - we'll give any information required about the map format
P.S. We sent an email to Boris, author of pMetro, about english localization of map editor.
Version 1.1.0 released.
Changelog:
Multitouch zooming;
Zooming using volume controls;
Move application to SD supported;
Trackball speed setting;
Added resources for WVGA/QVGA screens;
Find and Auto-Complete take into consideration with diacritics and ligatures;
Trackball scroll speed settings
does it have singapore maps?
Yes, there's a map of Singapore.
It may be outdated because we don't have resources to support maps, all of them created by different people outside of our team.
If you find any errors - please send us a description, and we forward they to the developer of map

400kb - this is application, without a maps.
You could download maps from app, or you could download they from pmetro.su site (but it's on russian ^__^)
in future we plan to create a map editor, so anyone could update or create new maps
p.s. these maps - isn't maps like google maps. they contains only transport lines and stations

Would like to see a map editor to edit / update some maps. Tried the original version, but unable to do anything with it.
Used to work on maps for a WM-project called CityAdvisor (http://www.cityadvisor.net/) but unfortunately it seems this project is dead (at least still no android version).
So if i can waste some of my time on aMetro.. great

[Q] Bing Maps Guide

I own Samsung Omnia W running on WP7.5 Refresh. After I purchased my handset, I installed gMaps, so I didnt bother to have a look at inbuilt Maps app provided by Windows Phone.
I read that Bing Maps is also as good as Google Maps. Only problem is I dont know how to use it. When I open Maps, I can see option to get my current location. I dont see any option to discover places (Hotels, Parks, etc like in gMaps), nor I see any option to search any location, and direction/navigation to it.
Do I need to install any more app to utilise inbuilt Maps application. Is there any guide available to use Maps. Please point me to link, or post here.
Thanks.
Id use Nokia Maps rather than Bing

Ya, but I use Samsung Omnia W, and its not unlocked. So I have to rely on inbuilt Bing Maps.
http://www.windowsphone.com/en-US/how-to/wp7/web/use-maps-to-find-a-place
I found above link in which it has given details of Maps usage. Maps really looks nice in this link, but unfortunately in my phone, I can see only option "me" with Circle to show my location. I cant get any other options like Local Scout, Get Directions, Find Address.
In above link it is mentioned that certain feature may not work for all regions. I wonder if Bing Maps has no support for India!
http://www.windowsphone.com/en-US/how-to/wp7/basics/feature-and-service-availability
go read that and weep afterwards :laugh:
for the time being, i'd suggest to change the language of the browser and search (setup > language > last item in the list) to "ENGLISH (united states)", that way you'll unlock several options not available to us third-world-peasants-lumpenproletariat laugh like qr code search and local scout, however, be aware that there's no guarantee that it will work where you live. for instance, here i don't get results for shops and restaurants, but events and attractions work. ultimately it's useless for this place, but it looks so cool... :crying:

Hey Thanks! It actually worked!!!
And guess what after changing language to English (US) {earlier I used English (UK)}, even Scout is working fine for India. I can see nearby Hotels, Attractions through Maps, Bing Search.
Place search, Navigation is also now working.

[Q] Reccs for Offline Maps

Will be traveling soon to SE Asia and elsewhere. Seeing that my device is wifi only, I'd like recommendations for map apps. What's important is that the app has a wide array of maps (ie good maps for many, many countries) available for download, and has detailed, accurate offline maps. A intuitive UI would also be nice. Whether or not the maps are "pretty" isn't a concern
atm, I'm using locus free and osmand. Wouldn't mind updating Locus, given that it's on sale atm, but would like to make sure that I won't end up essentially having to download another app immediately.
