Hi all, needing some help here...
I unlocked my bootloader as I wanted to flash a new ROM using the "fastboot oem unlock" thing. It unlocked and I now get the wee padlock at boot. I have an i9023.
However, my Wi-Fi no longer worked so I installed Clockwork with fastboot and then flashed the stock 2.3.6 full ROM for i9023 from the OTA thread. Wi-Fi still doesn't work, constantly switching between "Scanning" and "Disconnected".
Please help, what else can I do?
I've tried the stock ROM and CM7, both still no luck. Please help! I really need this working!
EDIT: I've managed to fix it by locking the bootloader again...thankfully you can do that on a Nexus! Very odd though...

I answered your other post here
This is perfectly normal. You need to run an RUU.

Hello there everyone...
I was helping my friend with his sgs iii and I successfully rooted and unlocked its bootloader and flashed TWRP recovery and such. Anyways, I decided to install Synergy rom on it, but when the phone booted, wifi didn't work. I figured it might be a kernel issue so I downloaded Scrosler's kernel and flashed that. Anyways, now instead of booting up, the phone just says "software unauthorized by Verizon has been installed on this device, please power off and take your device to the nearest Verizon store to get fixed". I can get into download mode but adb does not recognize the device and I am not sure how to get into recovery otherwise. Is there a shortcut to get into it from the powered off state? Or is my friend's sgs iii soft bricked and do I need to follow the guide in this thread here?
I apologize if this has been asked before but I searched and could not find anything specific on fixing this...
Thanks in advance
If you actually unlocked the BL, you shouldn't be seeing that message.
I'm keeping track of these separate "Bricked" threads. If you would have read the 13 other ones, you would know what to do.
Odin. That's your answer.

Yeah, you're soft bricked. This was the easiest way i find for a fix.

Odin a stock kernel, then odin stock rom...section 6 of my guide for further information.
You didn't unlock the phone bootloader. Synergy has a failsafe built into the rom that prevents loading its kernel if you are not unlocked.
Follow the guide droidstyle posted and if you had searched no WiFi in the synergy thread you would have seen lots of advice to unlock bootloader before you soft brickedm

Thanks guys I was able to fix it. I am going to unlock the bootloader today.
Guys, I really need help. My phone won't turn on after I installed Blackbean. Initially I was running Blackbean then I tried Jellybam then I decided to go back to Blackbean. After I reloaded the software, I've selected to go back to bootloader and then it won't turn on anymore. I am not sure if I bricked the phone coz I didn't do anything wrong. My phone is the unlocked T-Mobile Germany version. If anyone has suggestion please post it here. I will appreciate all the help. Thank you.

So you can't even go into the bootloader? Maybe your battery has run flat, this happened to me once. I just plugged it in for a few minutes and it started up again normally.

dude you have to flash the kernel ( boot.img)! otherwise it won't boot!

But it must boot to bootloader to push the boot file right. How can he do that without getting the phone to turn on?

Plus if he already flashed those roms, would assume he is flashing boot, has low hboot, or using Flash Image GUI--may be wrong--
use the All in one tool kit and get the stock boot.img from kiln, assuming you're able to get into fastboot.
Here is what I did....
HTC One X (ATT). Unlocked and rooted yesterday. (TWRP)
Today tried to install CM10 and GApps, got stuck on CM bootscreen, then I flashed the boot.img and it still did not work....then my immediate next step (probably stupidly) was to flash modded boot...still did not work....I just got to HTC screen with the red writing on the bottom and nothing else....
So I got into TWRP and restored to my backup (which I was able to do before the above) and just got to the same HTC screen with red type on the bottom......now I started to panic.
I tried to relock the phone...and I did but now I cant go anywhere but the fastboot screen!!!!
Please Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you relocked already just run the ruu in fastboot and restore to stock.

Just read read and read more..be comfortable first than you'll be fine and know how to get out of any situation
Just read up and give it another go.....like anything else, sometimes you need certain thing to happen to learn....good luck.
Just saying, you flashed the boot.img after flashing the rom and gapps? The boot.img is flashed before flashing the rom
It can be done either way.
ive been seeing alot of new members soft bricking this way should read though this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1957193 it explains every thing for ppl on hboot 1.14 and higher.

That is what is supposed to happen. Once you relock, you need to run the RUU. It won't boot otherwise.
I am unlocked and rooted again.....ready to try again...
I want to leave the phone alone but I cant help myself.......Anyone else have this issue???
I know what you mean, when i first got my one x and learned of rooting, i felt i was claustrophobic with normal stock. I Read and read and read some more, before I even thought about flashing roms. But I Recommenced flashing Viper JB 3.1.0 As it basically installs the boot img in the boot-loader for you. I also recommend Cm 10.1, except it does not have camera working as of yet. If you dont mind not having a camera, cm 10.1 is a very smooth rom. Also remember if flashing certain roms like cm 10. dalvik, cache and factory reset, as well as flashing the boot img are required for the rom to work. Good luck

I'm livin in the same life man been though 4 android phone and a tablet in a year o and rooted all my friends phones
Thanks a ton this thread helped me save my phone
Hey everyone! I'm new to the XDA forums, and I just purchased my Verizon Samsung Galaxy S6 about a month ago. I thankfully just successfully rooted it using PingPong Root yesterday. But I was curious if anyone knew how to access the bootloader to find out if I can flash custom Roms and all that. I didn't need to unlock the bootloader to root it. But I don't want to brick my phone trying to flash anything. I tried to do the -power off- -up- and all that to get bootloader, but all I was able to get was the stock recovery and some sort of thing g that looked slightly like a bootloader, but allowed me to reboot, factory reset, and reboot I'm debug mode.
Someone please help!!! I don't know if this is the right place I'm the forums, so please don't delete this post, if I did anything wrong. Thanks everyone.
I also forgot to mentiom, when I boot my phone up, it has an unlock symbol and says Custom underneath it. Could that by chance mean that the bootloader is unlocked aswell? Opinions? Suggestions? All help would be appreciated
VZW bootloader is locked. Doubtful that will change.
There isn't a way around that even if my device is rooted, without getting the Dev edition?
Do I have to have the bootloader unlocked to flash custom ROMS and any thing other than stock stuff, such as a recovery, etc?
No recovery as long as we have locked bootloader. You can flash roms using flashfire.
Sent from my Verizon Galaxy S6
This may be a noob question, but what exactly is the use of a ROM and what would be the best ROM to flash? Will it erase everything on my phone, doing so? Contacts, Apps, etc? Where can I find flashfire? I already have flashify from Google play store.
Not flashify, you need flashfire by chainfire do a search on Xda for it. As for roms we don't have alot to choose from but go to the Android Development sub forum and take a look. Most the roms have significant better battery life because they are debloated etc.
