To Flash:
Put on SD Card
Rename HCFreemium.img to update.img

Let it install, DONT REMOVE THE SDCARD DURING INSTALLATION
Enjoy
Welcome to the First Ever Rom by >> ME <<
INTRODUCING HONEYCOMB FREEMIUM 7 v1.0
This Rom isnt anything crazy special, but some of the features are:
-Root! (Superuser permissions fully functional, but you cant write the /system directory)
-Honeycomb UI (Thanks Syndicate Apps!)
-Awesome Volume Editor (Allows you to Emulate Beats Audio, Increase overall sound, etc. It has many great features! Its like a better DSP Manager)
-Google Docs - I know I use it, if you all feel it to be useless, I will remove it in the Next Release!
-Apps2SD GUI (Credits go to the developer of the app, and your SD Card must be partitioned, DO NOT TRY TO PARTITION EXTERNAL SD BUILT INTO THE TABLET)
-GetJar App - This app gives you paid games for free LEGALLY! GetJar has been around since the old .jar game days (games/apps that ran on phones with keypads lol) and is under no circumstances illegal or Warez related!
-Working Gmail - I dont know if this was just me, but I had issues with Gmail on the original Firmware, so I added a better one!
-FULLY FUNCTIONAL Market - There are major issues with the 3.0+ releases of the Android Market, so this is the OLD market, until I find a fix for it!
-Google Music/Video (4.0) - I didnt like the original Music and Video Apps, so I added Google's, they are much smaller and look WAY better, and are fully functional.
-AdFree - Remove ads from your apps (This is a root app and has been around for a while)
-The Real Kobo App - The original NP7 optimized Kobo wouldn't let you import books, so I added the one that did!
-Youtube (The Real One) - Again, another crappy NP7 Optimized app replaced with the real, better one
-ICS Boot animation - May seem laggy in the beginning, but will speed up after a second!
-Internal Storage Increase - With the Stock Firmware, you only had 153 MB. I have increased it to approx. 210-215 MB! (HORRAY FOR MORE SPACE)
As Quoted by SgtfooIt's based on the first known rooted ROM for this device: 'DocHoppy's ROM'. Credit for most of this ROM goes to him and to 'Wendal' for his toolset for packing the ROM (into cramfs) for the Nextbook 7 Premium device.
This is release 1.0! Many more versions soon to come. Some features for Alpha2 Release are:
-More Google apps (For Pure Android Feel)
-Build Prop Edit (The NP7 is not seen as a tablet on the android market, so we cannot get tablet optimized apps, only stretched versions of the phone apps)
-More features to come!
-POSSIBLY port CM9's Trebuchet ICS Launcher to NP7 (No Promises on this one, may have to wait until a later release)
Thank you all for your support, if you would like to contribute to this projects by helping with the development (I dont want any donations lol) then please Inbox Me! Otherwise, please feel free to report any bugs/issues you ran across when using, and I will fix ASAP! Also, feel free to add suggestions for the Rom!
Thank you XDA
Also: If you are also a NP7 Dev, or know how to edit Kernels (We need better speeds as far as how fast the Tablet Goes), Boot Images (The specs said something about two 256 MB memory drives, I need to see if we can obtain access to the second Drive, to further increase space), Build Recoveries, Get access to the bootloader, etc. help would be much appreciated! Thank you again
Download HERE: HCFreemium7
Features for Alpha2 (Coming Soon) (Dont ask for ETA lol)
-Build Prop edits (Better battery life, access to Tablet apps in the market, etc.)
-Possible porting of Honeycomb apps (May have to wait until Alpha3/Beta1 Release)
-Honeycomb boot Animation
-A possible fix for the auto off softkey button backlights (I HATE THAT, ITS SO ANNOYING) (Again, another possible A3/B1 Release)
-Lock Screen Replacement (Honeycomb/ICS)
-Transparency features (Status bar, Settings Menu, etc.)
Thanks for your support. By the way, if you want a forum to discuss this stuff on, try mine! its relatively new, but all Nextbook tablets have a forum section. Feel free to tell your friends/random Nextbook owners about it

#2... yah!
Anyways, I want to thank you for your work as well as Doc Hoppy. I just flashed his ROM today, and then a few hours later I see yours. I am downloading it now and will check it out tonght or tomorrow.
I am glad that all of the sudden people are taking an interest in custom ROMs on the NP7. I am not a dev, but if there is anything I can do to help further this along, I am more than willing to do so.
FYI, market on Doc Hoppy's worked and was 3.x.x
Again, thank you! I will report any bugs.

Sorry, if you put the update.img on your external SD it does nothing. It needs to be put on the internal SD card.
First impressions... looks real good. I like the look better than the GB look, especially since I am running ICS on both of my phones. A little sluggish at times, but not too bad. Keep up the great work! If I come across anything else, I will let you know. About to run Titanium Backup to restore my apps.

Great to see more people making roms for the n7p!!
I'm gonna help the process by letting a Linux-expert friend of mine look into changing the stock file system from cramfs to something else.
We would likely be on to something much more usable at that point.

Titanium backup worked just fine. Only hick-up was the shortage of memory, so half way through it I had to move apps to SD. Thought TB would put them back on sd where I had them in the first place. Not that big a deal though.

This is great. I am away for a few days and busy and look what happens!
Lol!
What serial number range is your rom for?
Keep up the great work! if it helps the version of market I have running
in my rom is 3.4.4
From what I have learned....
"I was reading on a chumby forum someone suggested using mkfs.jffs to make it writable, but further down it notes that you would need to change the kernel (easy enough to recompile I think), to utilize a different file system. The boot loader would also need to be modified, something I am not ready to try and tackle just yet, I think I would be bricking my nextbook pretty quickly."
I think also part of the issue maybe that we need the source code/kernal from the mfg to do this.....
Quoting myself here. I have been researching this to try and tackle the issue, I am still learning alot.
Anything I can do to help, let me know!
Cheers!

I'm gonna check on that (as far as serial # range), I used your from as a base so I think its whatever your range is.! Also, a build prop edit would be nice, so that we can actually get tablet apps, not enlarged phone versions, I'm researching. Now, going off of your quote:
Kernel - My only issue with a kernel is the fact that we have no hboot/recovery, so a kernel screw up could make our tablets a 7 inch paper weight.
(Not mentioned) Recovery Image - upon rooting my grandmothers kindle fire, I learned of a new method called bootable SD, which basically means u burn the recovery image to an SD card (physical, ejectable SD, not internal memory or external SD built into tablet), and when u want to boot into recovery, you turn off the device, plug in the SD card, and turn on the device to boot into recovery.! It would be awesome to be able to do that.!
Boot loader - HELL NO.!!! One mistake equals insta-brick.!
So I asked xxProphecyxx this, but would you be interested in collaborating to make a rom, I think we could make an amazing one together.!!

I think a collaboration is a great idea. I am no dev, but I will help where I can. I have already decompiled both of your ROMs and took some stuff out and added some stuff, then recompiled and flashed them just for fun. Trying to learn new things. What I did though is really no different than installing/uninstalling apps, added some notification media [don't like stock], and changed boot animation.
Let me know if there is anything to help with.

This sucks for me, I think my Next7p is older than your guy's....I've tried all 3 roms and they all show up invalid. (Serial YF0511...) My tablet is sluggish everything from scrolling to loading pictures...So I'm out of luck for a new tablet experience as I don't know how to work with any of these tools. I'll still lurk around and hopefully I can find a rom that works with mine in the future. thanks for your work!

So after messing around compiling a ROM, I forgot to add a launcher, and now I am stuck in a bootloop. After the girl in the dress is there for awhile, I get a black screen, then reboot. Anyone now how to fix this? I have been searching Google, but can not find anything yet.
Any help would be great!

Ahhhh, dang dude, I don't know.! Okay so we really need to get the ball rolling. I'm not a dev either, but I am learning.! In the mean time, head to the nook color forums and ask them about the boot able recovery via SD.! Also, I will talk to my friend saridnour about recovery image porting.! Well, I searched the nook color threads and there wasn't anything relavent that I could use. I even tried putting a stock update.img on a SD card, but that did nothing either. I think I may have a really expensive paper weight now.

What about recompiling the image with a launcher, then put the update.img on the sim card and boot in up. Or, I am sure there is a firmware update mode combination holding a few buttons while powering it on.
I have make a few different Roms for the Dell Streak 5, and I am working on breaking this image down and making another custom Rom. I am not a full Dev, but I enjoy making things run better. Let me know if I can assist more.

in not new to android by any means and i have no idea what that is lol wana explane and maby i could help u out i feel so noobish lol
OpenGL ES 2.0 was publicly released in March 2007[1], eliminates most of the fixed-function rendering pipeline in favor of a programmable one. Almost all rendering features of the transform and lighting pipelines, such as the specification of materials and light parameters formerly specified by the fixed-function API, are replaced by shaders written by the graphics programmer. As a result, OpenGL ES 2.0 is not backwards compatible with OpenGL ES 1.1.
aka 3d and hd games play Opengl ES

It works! This is fun, currently playing with this ROM paired with P3Droids lv250 1200mhz kernel. Runs extremely well all things considered.
Aside from the the bugs mentioned the only other issues I've found are
- Two seemingly identical stock gallery and email programs installed. Neither of which can be uninstalled via app manager.
- My computer does not see the phone when plugged in via USB and phone does not ask to connect to computer. I have not done anything with ADB yet.
- The phone will auto rotate horizontal when the keyboard is opened but will not rotate back when closed in some applications.
Ill post/edit if something new comes up

Hi there. I'm the guy that put this little thing together. I did not build this myself/from source. I just happened to take a few things that were working on various builds and glue them together. It does play 3D games and what not, but since the accelerometer does not work, it doesn't really do a whole lot of good. I'm not sure exactly what OPENGL version it has, or how to check it, but if you point me in the right direction, I'm sure I can figure it out for you. (Found this in the Build.prop: # The OpenGL ES API level that is natively supported by this device.
# This is a 16.16 fixed point number
ro.opengles.version = 131072)
As far as the issues, they have been well documented in the original thread on DroidForums. Just to break them down for you though...
Broken:
1)GPS (which also causes browser and any other location finder service associated apps to close when attempting to locate.) You can use a different browser, or set home page to something other than Google.
2)Accelerometer. I'm assuming it is because there are some new sensors included in Gingerbread. I thought it might have something to do with the akmd file, but I've tried a few different ones with no luck...
3)USB Storage. This is an easy fix with an app in the Market place called Multi Mount SD. They have a free and paid version. Dual Mount also works. These are widgets and must be used as such.
As far as the "duplicate" apps, they are different versions of the same app and are easily removed with Titanium Backup.
Most likely, this is not your every day rom. I have been using it, because it's fun to run something you had a hand in making, but it's not considered stable. With that being said, it's the easiest to use rom that we have available and no other Motorola phones really have anything else better, so enjoy what we have.
Happy Holidays / Merry Christmas / Insert whatever gives you warm and fuzzy feelings here.
PS. I am not a dev, so really can't trouble shoot anything too effectively. I've been trying different things to fix the issues, but have not had much luck. I was hoping some devs on DF would pick up on the interest in this project and be able to figure it out, but not much luck so far.
PSS. Definitely suggest flashing another kernel once you set the original rom up and do a nandroid. A lot of the 2.2 kernels work. I've had the most luck with Slayher interactive ones. Try a 1200 one. It's pretty quick...

No can do, sorry. I'm not a dev, so I wouldn't even have the slightest idea how to do such a thing. Plus I dunno anyone with a Milestone to play with. From what I understand, it is quite a pain in the neck due to the differences between the GSM and CDMA.

Not sure about the camcorder. Mine works for me. The browser thing has been discussed many times on all Gingerbread threads. You can't go through the browser's regular home page because location services is not working. Internet works if you:
A) Change the home page to something other than Google.com
B) Get a different browser.
C) Go through the Google Search Box.
It feels like it is 2.2 with some add-ons, because that is exactly what 2.3 is. It's not a major OS revision. Most of the work is behind the scenes dealing with memory management, speed, and such. If it's not faster for you than 2.2, that's odd (if you have not flashed a new kernel with this, highly recommended). There won't be a fully functioning rom till someone is able to figure out how to get some of the proprietary drivers rewritten to work with this boot.img. Not exactly a task for a beginner. Motorola certainly is giving any handouts, so be happy with what ya have.
There are people working on it though, you just have to be patient. It's not something as simple as, "Oh, I'll just add this or that file and everything magically works."
I'm glad some of you are enjoying it though. Blackdroid's team is working on an Alpha. Still broken accelerometer with half working GPS. Hopefully in the next week or 2, he'll push some more stable builds out. Until then, just use this to show off and have a back up of your favorite stable rom. Take care...

There is a Brazilian dev trying to port the Ginger to the Milestone.
The name of the MOD is "ShadowMODBR" but it's not complete.

MOVED TO HERE!!!!!!!
Awesome. I'll be testing this build and reply w/ any bugs/problems by editing this post. Looking forward to this a lot.
Edit: Just finished setting up. Its runs really smooth.
Only things I've found so far is during setup I couldn't sign into my Google account. I got an error reporting a connection couldn't be established (or something close to those lines ^_^'>)
Edit 2: I just wiped and reflashed and ROM and my Google Account setup just fine during setup. Maybe just an isolated incident.
However once done w/ setup I went to Accounts & Sync and set it up that way.
Also, the font looks really nice imo except when its small it becomes rather difficult to read. I've also noticed the text in the search box is misaligned. I'll be running this tonight and tomorrow and post anything that I find. Looks awesome.

Nice looking. It seems like a themed stock sense.
Not complaints... just constructive criticism:
Font is too thin especially when small
No cell signal
haptic feedback comes and goes
needs to come with some kind of file browser
during sdcard mount it keeps returning to htc screen
WOW, forgot how slow 2.1 was. even OC'd to 748(it is smooth once OC'd)
once airplane mode is engaged it gets stuck
statusbar icons backgrounds don't all match statusbar color
Didn't have time to test gps, sorry
I wanted to try this even though I hate Sense. I pissed on yer "I wanna be super dev" thread, and I wanted to show I meant no harm.
Overall, it really seems like a slightly-themed, rooted stock build. But it loaded, no cell, no mobile data, but otherwise seemed to work smooth.
You should base this off LiquidSense 2.1.1 for some real speed.

I had a go at this idea quite some time ago:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=812893
I abandoned it because I didn't know how to unlink everything. What I have learned since then, is instead of just removing any apps that you do not want to include in the rom, try flashing clean to your phone and using adb to uninstall apps (adb uninstall [app]). Afterward make a nandroid, and pull into the rom editor to repack. I never was able to learn many of the app names to uninstall as some of them are different than the .apk name.
Need any help lemme know!
And feel free to download that rom to see what I did and where I went wrong

On rom cooking in Windows.... meh. I hate to say it but I despise cygwin. It doesn't seem like I can ever get ANYTHING to work properly when using it.
When I cooked my roms, I always used either ubuntu or xubuntu in a virtualbox, or ubuntu natively booting to it. It's actually worth it to do it that way in my opinion, because it's easier to copy files back and fourth, less hassle installing stuff, don't have to worry about being root to cook or do things (besides adb shell sometimes), you have the power of whatever your favorite cli text editor is (nano for me) built right in... It's just a beautiful thing. To top it off, if you have it on a memory card or external hdd and things are a little laggy, you can take it and use it on a bigger powerhouse (I had to do that sometimes when my laptop was really sluggish, I would put it on my desktop for full power).
Oh, but as far as cooking a kernel in, basically extract your kernel, look at the update-script and just place/replace the files as to where it would be if you flashed it. That's what I did.

Try this.... Dsixda's Rom Kitcen
Or if you want to get crazy you can install Oracle VM virtual box on your windows 7 machine and then install unbuntu on the vm, and then run the rom kitchen on linux (the way its meant to run) or even compile from AOSP source. I like this option since cygwin is kinda hacky and dual boot is a pain in the butt (Wife and Kids arent to receptive to a Linux machine)

you should probably "develop" your OP to credit the original ROM dev, like a moderator already told you! otherwise you should get infracted/banned, you are currently breaking the most important rule in xda.

[Kernel][TeamViper]Spartacus_EB13_1.3GHz Build From Source[17 Mar 2011]

------------------------------------------------------------------------------**DISCLAIMER**------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ok, So I decided to get this kernel out and played with a little more. Had quite a few people test it with success, so I'm gonna release it, but of course, I have to release it with the standard disclaimer.
I nor any of the contributors to this Kernel will be held responsible for anything you decide to do on your own. By downloading and flashing this kernel, you are knowingly accepting the fact that it may not work for you. If you should have any issues though, we are more than happy to help you to try to get it working.
The Battery Tweaks Have Been Removed Until They Are Updated... I Have Permission To Use Them, And I WILL Change Them, But I Will Also Make Sure I Don't Forget Credit This Time. My Apologies For The Last One.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------**CREDITS**---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Rodderik - For helping me out from the start. We've been working on kernels since day one of the source drop, but I also had ROM stuff to do and he just kept his kernel wheels turning. The mans a Genius.
Supercurio - For paving the way with voodoo sound.
Mkasick - For the video and keyboard patches.
Paiyne - For putting all my tester kernels through the gauntlet and letting me know what needed to be fixed right away so I could make sure it was a stable release.
All my other testers - I wouldn't be where I am without you guys. So thank you all
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------**CHANGELOG**-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

*Added Voodoo Sound By Supercurio*
*Added Rodderiks Malware Patch*
*Raised The FPS Cap*
*Added All Scripts Needed For A2SD*
*Added My Custom Backup And Restore Scripts*
*Built From Source*
*Removed Battery Tweak Scripts Until I Update Them*
Yes.... I will make sure credit goes to everyone else that worked on them too...
NOTE: My custom backup and restore scripts are a work in progress. I know for sure that the backup works (I've had many testers confirm this), but I've changed the restore script, so hopefully it works for you. To give you a few features of what the script does, here's a brief rundown.
Backup
1. Backs up /data/app.
2. Backs up /data/app-private.
3. Backs up /data/data
4. Creates a compressed .tar file of backed up /data/data to conserve space.
5. Creates a folder on your sdcard for easy access labeled "backuppro".
Restore
1. Restores /data/app from sdcard to phone.
2. Restores /data/app-private from sdcard to phone.
3. Uncompresses .tar file and restores data to phone.
4. Once restored, the apps show back up in your "downloads" section of the Market again so you can still update when an update is available.
5. What to restore is optional. Whether it be both apps and data, or one or the other. You have the option to choose what you want with simple "y" or "n" responses.
When running the backup.sh script, you may see "No such file" or "No such directory", don't worry this is normal, it is still performing the requested actions. Also, before you backup or restore, the script will tell you exactly how much space is being used in the folder on your sdcard. This number does not show up until after the first time you run it obviously, but after the first time, it will show you exactly how much space you are using for apps & data.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------**SCRIPTS**---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here Is A List Of The Scripts Included In The Kernel Flash And Their Description Of What They Do
(All commands are typed here exactly as they should be typed into Terminal Emulator following "su")
1. 1200perf.sh - This script can be run to quickly change the CPU Frequency to 1.2GHz Max and 200MHz Min Frequencies while on the Conservative Governor.
2. 1300perf.sh - This script can be run to quickly change the CPU Frequency to 1.3GHz Max and 200MHz Min Frequencies while on the Conservative Governor.
3. backup.sh - This script was created custom by Team Viper to backup your /data/app & /data/app-private folders to your sdcard, as well as your /data/data folder.
4. restore.sh - This script was created custom by Team Viper to restore your /data/app & /data/app-private folders and your /data/data files back to your phone from the sdcard.
5. cpufreq.sh - This script sets your governor to 'Conservative' and your frequency changing thresholds to 50/10.
6. getfreq.sh - This script can be run to tell you your current CPU Frequency.
7. getgov.sh - This script can be run to tell you your current CPU Governor.
8. verifycache.sh - Force /system dalvik-cache on /data instead of /cache if it is not large enough.
9. maxperf.sh - This script sets your CPU to 'Conservative' while setting your Max frequency to 1300MHz, and your Min frequency to 200MHz.
10. minfree.sh - This script sets your phones internal memory killer to slightly more aggressive settings.
11. tweaks - This script allows you to change certain features of the phone. With it, you can change your Hardware Accelleration, Stagefright Media Player, JIT, and Dalvik Heap Sizes status to either Enabled or Disabled. It prompts you to make a backup first, or you can not use the script.
12. Malware Patch - Rodderick wrote up this script to prevent anyone from accessing your phone or causing virus like issues. Thanks Rodderik, we love your tight butt.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------**APPLICATIONS**------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here are a few applications that you can use with the kernel. Some applications are needed, such as Terminal Emulator, some applications are optional, such as Voodoo Control App, and some applications are just for fun, such as Linpack. Regardless of your choice, enjoy
Voodoo Control App
Terminal Emulator
Linpack
Quadrant
Smartbench 2010
Smartbench 2011
Neocore FPS Test
SimplyLock Lockscreen Replacement
Just wanted to make sure everyone was aware, even though they are posted in my thread, I am NOT taking credit for them. Just a heads up.
NOTE: All the applications that I have listed here are FREE in the market. I simply placed them here for convenience. If you like the apps, feel free to go to the market and purchase the donation versions if available.
You can also download SetCPU from the Developers page on XDA found here or you can get it from the Android Market. If you like the app, show your support for the Dev and purchase it, it's cheap, it wont break you .

I was going to, but i hate defending myself for honest mistakes... I removed any trace of anything people could yell about. I built this personally from source myself, and people can see that i did it. That way there's no questions. And for all the people that said stuff in the other thread... If you don't like my work... don't download it... seriously... developing for the Samsung Epic turned from being fun for me to living in a daytime soap opera... This may be the last thing i do.
Nothing against you ecooce... i've got no beef with you... I agree 100% with the statement you made, what he did was uncalled for... but credit DID need to be given... I just wish i would have been properly presented with the opportunity to fix my mistake before anything happened. I would have gladly done so.
I'm sorry, i don't mean to rant, i just feel like i need to present my case to everyone. If you've been a loyal follower of Viper or not, i never intended to do wrong. I understand that when ViperROM first started, yeah, we have had a few things that didn't work, but our ROM is just like anyone else's out there today... I've personally never heard of anyone needing to replace their phone after running one of my ROM's... I'm not even making the current release, and TPhillips busted his ass on it, but i'm sure someone will say something about it. ViperROM has advanced since we've started, and we're not backing down because some of the other dev's dont like us. We don't care. Again, i apologize for not giving credit to begin with, it was an honest mistake and i gladly fixed the mistake by stating i was sorry.
Here's the bottom line. I Credited other people in my thread, so it's obvious i don't have issues with crediting people. I apologize for my mistake. If you don't like me, or any other person of the team, you have the freedom to choose not to install this. To everyone else, Thank you.

Good man.
As someone thats around you guys alot (the team), I've got to say people on here don't understand how much work gets put into these things. Even though he borrowed some Scripts, as you can see here, the kernel doesn't need the scripts at all to run, and is an amazing kernel WITHOUT the scripts, with just everything BT made HIMSELF.
The dudes helping our Epics while ACTIVELY serving our country EVERYDAY as well, and you don't see him complain or ask for anything in return. Imagine yourself being in the military all day and than dev'ing all night. I sure as hell know I'd be tired. But he still does it anyway cause he enjoys it.
But as you can tell, it seems that enjoyment is slowly being taken away from him, which is horrible. Hasn't anyones momma on here taught them the "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all?".
Dudes a great guy yet I haven't seen much respect shown toward him on here and its kind of sickening. I mean no disrespect towards anyone on here, but anyone that's got something against BT or anyone on the ViperTeam, take it up with them privately from now on. You may also take notice that they ViperTeam doesn't go around implying they're better than anyone like some other groups you see around. If you don't like their stuff, they don't care. Just don't use it.
And a problem I saw in the other thread was people saying the kernel was breaking their root.
People, if your on Syndicate, Their root is in their KERNEL instead of their ROM. Therefore if you flash a kernel that doesn't have the root files, you will lose root on the ROM because the root was in the kernel. So stop thinking its the kernels fault when your on Syndicate and this kernel makes you lose root.
Don't know if it works but you can try flashing the kernel than one-click-rooting if you want. That may make it work. Other than that, don't keep saying "I'm running ACS's rom and this kernel makes me lose root! rage!!$%%percent%[email protected]!"
/rant.
Keep it up BT, trying er out now.
Soooo...this does have a2sd?
I know it says "added a2sd", I only ask since the a2sd instructions werent included
Btw, whats the swap partition for? I have a2sd setup from baked snack, but I don't remember it having me make a swap partition...what purpose does that serve? (Just out of curiosty)
And since I don't have a swap, I'm gonna have to remove the partitions first....is there an option to do this in cwm or will I have to adb it?

Just installed and love the speed of this.
But after I wake the phone up from from its first sleep after reboot, color goes weird. Color is all washed out.
Screen looks normal on first boot, its only after the first wake up does it go weird.
I will reinstall when this is fixed.
Can we get everything except the color changes without a2sd?

Will try it out.
Been running Viper Roms forever but was trying others while waiting for the new release. i was on Midnight when I flashed the new Kernel and it seemed to work fine. I then put Trinity back on an did a few more things....well bottom line I cannot get the new kernel to work now with trinity. I've odin'd back to stock and worked my way up and as soon as I put the new kernel on it hangs at the Samscreen. I can flash the 03a and 4 kenels with no problem but Spartacus is out of the question. Any Idea what I may have F'd up?

Can't wait for wifi and gps to be finished!!!! Simply amazing work guys!
So what all would be required to get calls working on this? Is it just a matter of getting a phone app on there or is it a more complex problem? Id love to see this get to be a full fledged, stable rom.
It won't ever have working phone stuff.
This is honeycomb, not meant for phones

You could have a duel boot setup to have both in one device, easier than switching backups. I'm gonna give this a run, any kernels work best for this?
Loaded this up, slow I expected. No on board keyboard that I got to work. The physical keyboard did not have functional numbers that I got to work. I could not get the power button to work either.Nice work though, looks good.
So, sent from my mobile. What's new?
sorry to bother, but i've a question.. i've got a samsung i9003 that has chipset mostly identical to droid, the rest of the hardware is different, i know, phone, gps, wifi, etc. it is possible to recompile kernel from milestone to samsung, knowing the differences, and adding the kernel modules to make it work? gingerbread for this phone is arriving next month, but no rom have been spotted, but i hopo... sorry to invade your section, but i wanted to ask to some developers and i hope a good reply... sorry for my english.
True, the original software isnt meant for phones BUT, he just managed to boot it on a phone, opening up the possibilty phone use. I want to know whats required to get it working.
I loaded up the rom and it works but there are missing elements, without them it is pretty much useless. I had no wifi or data so I could not load anything on it. Neat to play with though, needs a 1000 MHz kernel just to tinker with.
kind make me happy i made the choice of buying this phone in july last summer.
How about root access? Flashed another overclock kernel pushed setcpu but no root access
Very impressive although for phone use doesn't do much there. Plus I can't use the power switch to shut device on and off
did this project die? hopefully not just seems no development has happened in a while
Really, its not going to get any better than this. Only reason I ported it to my phone was because I wanted to see what it would look like. Then people started requesting ports. This was never and will never be anything close to a DD. Its just something fun to flash and play with for a minute, then go back to your ctual rom.

Both Roms include faster scrolling speed, faster app response and withdraw. Much faster overall experience. Lots of bloat removed that was left in.
Some Major Magic work done all around, for a noticeable improvement. All Roms may be used as a base by anyone, feel free to dig in. Make sure you {link} back here,in your tread.Give the Rom base some props.

Tommy,s extended quick settings zip does work on this ,also miui battery bar I now have working. Only problem is a pop up box with 0-9 appears every now and then in a clear box. When I get this ironed out I'll have them included. Once I learn how to port, I'll have a way better version to put out. If someone has a good guide please pm me a link.

Here you go http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1222746 ,its all trial and error, not everything in this guide works as posted, you just have to play with it.
Thanks Diablo this is exaclty what I was looking for, off to work on the build now. Thanks again.
It's fantastic, thanks man.
For anyone who likes inverted mms, try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1559437&highlight=inverted+mms it works pretty well, Thank Jessesse for it .Later
Ive got extended quick setting fully working just need to iron out this low memory/low on space warnings in the quick settings boxes. Stay tuned ill have it out soon.If you know what i need to correct please let me know
Edit.. still getting odd popup with 0-9.back to it again.
were you getting the low mem warnings before you added the quick settings, Never got any warnings myself,,,
nope just when i flash quick settings everything works just inside the auto rotation/wi-fi/mobile network boxes theres (low on space) and (phone storage space is getting low) which is not true. im going to start all over i guess.also i cant rid the0-9 popup box, which i think is related to the text popup apk i put in the rom. This was my first ever port attempt but ill get it working.
You have a pretty awesome base to work with and your doing a great job so far, Keep at it. Im really digin it so far. Theres a few things id like to see for this rom, but before i say anything, id rather see what you come up with. Thanks again for your efforts man it is greatly appreciated by all. Later

Agreed. Good work! It's nice to see some of the mods from previous versions working on the new base. The text being wrong in the Quick Settings issue is going to be hex edit in SystemUI.apk, I believe. outerdepth had a similar issue when porting the Express. He might be able to help.
Ive been bangin away on this rom all day and i mean all day non stop. From flashing at 97% till now its been 6 1/2 hours non stop. Different mods,, stock kernel, different other kernels constant reboots, about 35 mms about 20 sms a couple hours web surfing, just playin with it non stop and im still at 47% battery. battery life is off the chart This rom just keeps getting better and better and its not even a day old yet. Im going to hang with the new freedom universal kernel for a day and then check the lionfish 1.8 universal for a day and see which ones the best...

Does that kernel affect your ability to use USB to PC, or affect the orientation of the front-facing camera in Google Video Chat?

Ive already tried the lionfish 1.8 universal with almost the same performance and battery life (off the grid dude) as freedom and front facing camera is upside right. hope this helps somewhat,,,Later
