[Q] Mute android speaker in pocket automatically - General Questions and Answers

There is an option in android 2.3 that increases the speaker volume on incoming calls to maximum once in the pocket, I usually have it in there when in quiet places such as libraries or meetings and dont need other alert than the vibration (preety strong) as I dont keep it in other closed bags away from me.
So my question is if there is any option or program that mutes the phone in pockets using the proximity sensor (simillar to the android option to increase it, but muting it) . If there isn't I believe it will be an easy and useful thing to develop..
Anything out there or similar?
thanks beforehand

Not to may knowledge, but it is just as easy to mute it yourself.

catching the handsfree kit button

You know, that button on the microphone bit of your handsfree kit?
It'll end a call in progress, and answer a ringing call. Handy.
Now, could an app catch it so it could be mapped to some function permanently, like any other button?
I think it'd make a neat skip or maybe pause button for media player apps.
App has already been released for this. Search harder.

My search-fu is clearly weak.
I just trawled this board, to no avail. Google also.
Care to give me a hint?
Just to be clear, it's not a bluetooth handsfree, and it only has one button, not a green and a red one (I gather they can be picked up by any old button mapper that will handle the phone's own red/green buttons).
Hate to have to bump this, but it's really bugging me and I still can't find this app of which you speak.
Help a kid out?
My apologies, I sound like such a biotch further up. Must have been having my "woman's troubles". >JOKE!<

PS I can never find that thread myself, despite it being pretty much the only solution to the problem, thus far.

Speakerphone answer for car use?

Hi all, I have had my O2 IQ for about a month now and love it to bits - first XDA I have had with a decent radio rom from the box!
my only problem is that when I am in the car, obviously, I cannot pick it up to answer a call and pressing the call button to go to speakerphone is a pain as well as distrating, especially if tomtom is running, as it usually minimizes the program as well
I really don't like headsets, so really need some way to get the phone to automatically answer in speakerphone mode
I thought I would be able to do this in a profile, but cant see any way to do it, is there a program which can allow this?
I don't have any problem with using speakerphone in the car as others seem to, so it would be an ideal solution
I am running the original O2 rom if it makes any difference, not felt the need to mess with it yet!
any help much appreciated
regards
Robert
** BUMP **
Any idea's anyone.
I have the same problem.
Press green button for a while - speakerphone will be turned on
Same problem here, anyway to auto answer in loudspeaker?
@ZlydenGL - we don't have the time to press the answer button and then press the loudspeaker button when driving, dangerous
This probably isn't quite what you're looking for, but can't you plug in a wired headset into your phone when you're in the car?
My dad had something like that, with the microphone mounted above the steering wheel...

VASTLY improved headset button functionality

Something that I always felt was a glaring omission from the evo - and android in general - is more complex headset functionality, i.e. the ability to skip tracks forward and reverse. If that apple phone can do it, so too should we be able to. Here is the solution I found, and it seems to work quite well, with many settings beyond the skipped tracks I wanted originally:
Droid Shuffle.
Sorry, this is my first post, so I can't provide a direct link. Damned spammers ruin everything for everyone all of the time.
Awesome! Enjoy.
I think I love you...
It's a start. Needs minor improvement.

CyanogenMod has a lot of these features already. Play/Pause controls more than the stock player, and can do fast-forward, but is missing rewind.
Here's a question. Why do the voice controls not work with the headset? It seems so stupid. Like, when else would you even want to use the voice controls than when you are wearing the headset anyway? The goddamned phone is in my pocket. Let me long click the button and then say "do my laundry" or "open Pandora" or whatever, and then do it, phone. DO IT. Am I just retarded or is there no way to do this?

I always thought that if you held the button for a bit that it would come up. At least, I think it spawns Voice Dialer.

[Q] Call volume really low

Is there an app or other software to boost the volume? All my volume settings are maxed and i cant really hear the caller. Sometimes, though, it comes in just fine, but most of the time it doesnt.
Thanks

I had this problem with another phone and after an extensive search, I ultimately gave up on it. I will share what I tried and maybe save you a little trouble.
First and simplest, try gently cleaning out the earpiece with a little toothpick, a pin, or better yet blow it out with some air. This seems to work for some people, as overtime gunk can build up inside the screen.
Next, there are a lot of apps that claim to work as volume boosters. Most of them are for speaker volume and not for in-call volume. After sifting through many of them I found one or two that claimed to help in call volume but they really did not work. If you go this route then "happy hunting".
Some ROMs have a hearing aid setting under the Accessibility options but I couldn't tell you which. The ROM I'm using has ways to change the volume steps for all volume settings and that might help (I'm using Liquid Smooth found here in the DEV section).
There is an Xposed module that enables you to adjust some volume steps.
Viper for Android gives you a lot of control over the sound of the device (it has Xloud) and it works well with the Apollo Music Player found on many ROMs but I can't say for sure it helps in-call volume. It sure makes music sound good though.
Last and hardest, if you are rooted and have a file managing app, you can go into the system files and edit them. This would probably require the assistance of a dev who could tell you exactly where these file are located and what the correct settings should be. Of course, there is always a chance of damaging your phone this way.
That's all I know. Hopefully, one of these options will work for you, or someone wiser will jumped in with a better solution. Good luck!
You need to tell everyone what software you are using and how long you have been having a problem.

Keyboard sound volume?

Hello,
I have Samsung Galaxy S7 which is on stock ROM v6.0.1.
Does anyone know how to adjust keyboard sound volume?
I really like the tones it makes when typing, but it's just too loud; I have already tried to reduce system/notifications/media volumes but it doesn't apply to the keyboard.
Please advice.
Thanks in advance.
I don't think there is anyway to do that but please for the love of god turn off the sound! It drives every single person around you nuts! Plus it helps drain your battery quicker by producing unneeded sounds every time you hit a key.
