Hello XDA,
I was wondering if anyone knew of a good Anti-Glare screen protector that does not distort image quality? I saw one at the AT&T store but reading the reviews, they stated that the white became "hazy." I not too sure whether I want my whites to be "hazy" since the screen looks great itself. I use my phone alot and would like to extend the battery life so I would dim the brightness to the lowest point, thus in sunlight, it is EXTREMELY hard to see. I was wondering maybe a anti-glare screen would help me see my screen better. Whats your opinion?
BTW! I have a WHITE skyrocket. Would the anti-glare screen make it look grey?
Oh yeah, and Im not a fan of how the invisible shield feels. It gets very sticky and rough. Also turns yellow after some time like my macbook pro. I had it shielded and it turned yellow at the mousepad and hand rest area.
Yeah anti glare sucks. Dont get them. Distorts the image badly. Atleast the att ones do

Anyone recommendations on a good anti-glare screen protector? I been searching around and havent really found any thats considered good.. Really need one.. Really hard to see with the display brightness all the way down in the sun.. and the battery doesnt last as long as I need it to..
Thinking about getting the power skin battery pack but I heard bad reviews. Also my phone is white so it would look awful, i think.
Also I'd avoid the "iVisor" Screen protector which ATT sells. It has black "Masks" on the top and bottom. This would be fine except that a few parts of the silver "Samsung" writing at the bottom show through where the clear button areas are.

BodyGuardz HD Anti-Glare Screenguardz. I just got them in the mail and put one on the screen of my phone. It's easy to install. I can watch a movie in the sunlight without much bother. The image distortion is negligible unless you like shoving the screen an inch away from your face. It is very clear.
I wanted something with anti-glare since I tried using one of the ZAGG protectors and, while it was scratch proof, it still glared and gave my screen the texture of an orange peel.
The BodyGuardz protector is perfect for me and while it is not scratch proof, it will protect your screen. (besides they send you 2 protectors instead of the 1 normally sold by other brands)
So many different kind of anti-glare screen protectors.. I hope a decent one surfaces soon.. If not ill just settle for whichever is around.. Also if Samsung doesnt fix our screens with the lines in them, I'd say the best thing to do for me is to cover it up with the anti-glare screen protector so I wouldnt notice it much. lol.
Kind of sad though. But I guess tricking yourself is better than noticing it everyday. No?
anyone have used this can get a review?

Just picked up the white moshi anti- glare from the ATT store. I previously had Ghost Armor on and I prefer this one. Good touch response and good out in daylight and movies still look crisp enough. But the antiglare does refract light coming up from the screen a bit, trade off for light refraction hitting your screen from the top.
I had the Moshi iVisor for the Galaxy SII and it was very nice. However, I have seen/read that it covers part of the "SAMSUNG" at the bottom of the phone.
I liked it, but at times it was a little too thick. It just felt like all of my taps didn't register.
But if you don't mind cutting off some of the lettering, this would be a good means of protection.
They fixed the Samsung lettering on the white one, no longer shows through. Plus on the white skyrocket, it helps limit the led bleed through in the home keys.
Personally, I find the texture smooth and responsive. Didn't like the orange peel of the ghost armor. After a couple of days, I do notice the distortion when watching movies... wish the skyrocket HD had come out sooner.

Moshi finally has some white anti glare screen protectors. You have to get them at the At&t store online though and they are $25 :-(
SO anyone with Bodyguardz HD Anti-Glare can recommend it ? I bought the Bestskinsever one and the glare is crazy compared to the screen with out the SP. So shopping around for the Anti-Glare one right now. IS BZ-HSSK-1111 any good ?
Realook and SGP both make very good screen protectors - I personally use SGP myself and it does not distort image quality in any way, while simultaneously having a good glassy feel.
I have the Moshi anti glare (black) on my Skyrocket from the AT&T store. It does distort the screen and causes my eyes to go wacky after a while. I can't endorse it at all.
XO Skins?
Just ordered screen protectors from XO Skins. It's a wet apply protector that some co-workers of mine recommend. Anybody use them? They claim to not have the orange peel look and will fill in or hide some existing scratches. My Skyrocket has a small vertical scratch that's annoying me.

I received Brando's anti-glare protector today. It's a perfect fit, even has a little hole in the top left corner where the proximity & light sensors are. However...
It makes the screen look like sh*t, everything is "grainy" or "foggy". I can barely read my email (using the stock gmail client). I've always been a fan of Brando's screen protectors, ever since I bought one for my Axim X5 in.. what? 2003 or so... and their "Ultra-clear" protectors are still great (i put one on my wife's Magic and you can't tell it's there), but their anti-glare ones are pretty much useless on the N1 and similar phones.
Has anyone else used this particular screen protector? Was it as bad as mine, or did i just get a dud?

I just got my BoxWave anti-glare protector today, and it is really clear... if it turns out it is just an issue with all Brano's, take a look at the Boxwave one's. I got it 3 days after ordering it, came with a cleaning cloth and application card. As well, it is static cling too boot!
box wave sells really good screen protectors.

My only camera is my N1 right now since I just sold my G1 and the digital camera is at my brothers... I will try to grab it next time I go over there.
I will say that the fit is pretty good, but not perfect, it has about 1mm on one side and the top(I decided when I laid it down, I would do it that way so the bottom and right side was fully covered). When off, there is a hair of cloudiness, when on there is a hint of graininess and whites give a "prism" look at the correct angle, but both effects keep getting less and less as it has more time to fully work itself onto the screen and get all the air out. I suspect in a day or two there will be no "prism" effect of graininess.
It has a great feel to it when swiping, no drag at all. As well, fingerprints are a thing of the past.
I also ordered one of their ultra-clear, not anti-glare, and it is just perfectly clear. I use my phone outside a fair amount, though, so I wanted to do the anti-glare first and see if I could withstand the graininess and what not that is common with all anti-glare screen protectors. Compared to ones I have used in the past, just generic eBay ones, on my G1 and a TyTN II, this is the best anti-glare I have seen so far.

static cling. My experience on my Tilt was that it stayed on very well, but easy to take off.
If you start with dust or anything under the protector, it is easy to lift with a piece of tape and get the dust off. If necessary, you can take it off, wash with a little soapy water, dry it, and put it back on.
Had to do that with the Tilt because I was so ham-fingered when putting it on.

Static, like was already mentioned. I would not recommend the "anti-glare" for anyone that wants or expects it to be 100% crystal clear. Even after a couple days, I still have the slight "prism" effect going on... it works great in the sunlight making it so you can see the screen, but I don't think the outdoor improvement is worth the trade off.
As for application, the best way is to start taking off the backing, and then as you lay it down remove it more and more along the way.
The screen protector is thick enough that it lays down really really well with out any air bubbles.

can you post some photos with the N1 screen on and off?
In case anyone's interested, I uploaded a video to Vimeo. It's here: www"DOT"vimeo"DOT"com/9087329 (<3 spam rules for "new" users)
Note that the video actually makes the screen protector look a lot better than it really is...
My screen is currently "naked" and I'm waiting on dcmugen's clear screen protector (bought a pack of 5 for like 5 EUR).
Edit/update: uploaded to youtube as well (try the 1080p version) - www"DOT"youtube"DOT"com/watch?v=0yxpBL1zsFo
yes, i have ordered many different screen protectors in my time. just got an hd2 and decided to go with the brando anti glare... horrible! it is the most unreadable anti glare sp i have ever bought. the fit and and the cut is perfect, but it diffuses too much light. it does reduce glare but absorbes too much light that it makes the entire screen too light that you cant see anything anyway.
even my 5 dollar dc mugen for my mt3g used better material. i may have to try the boxwave.
i did end up buying the brando ultra clear after and those are still top notch.
Hi,
I have a had a Boxwave & Clarivue Anti-Glare, both decrease the clarity of the screen & I would not recommend.
I have ended up using a Clarivue Ultra Clear. You sustain the clarity of the screen & you can't even notice that it is there. Also when you order you get two sets at the same price of buying one Boxwave.
I would recommend Clarivue if you want to get the Ultra Clear, but if you still want to decrease the glare of the screen. I would recommend that you find a alternative screen protector that is not a Anti Glare but with a matt finish.
I have a 10% discount code if you want to order a Clarivue.
code: Clarivue7
Thanks

I like anti glare because it has the "matte" feel. Do all 3 Boxwave & Clarivue Anti-Glare and brando have that feel?

Clarivue & Boxwave Anti-Glare do have the matt feel, but decrease clarity.
Better off going with a standard matt screen protector.

Steinheil SGP protectors are by far the best screens out!
There is the Ultra Clear which is crystal clear, but tend to be just as or more fingerprint magnets then the glass by itself.
They also make the SGP Anti-Fingerprint Matte screens, which make the screen matte, and there for, finger prints don't show up on them. The downfall to the Anti-Fingerprint reduces the screen clarity by a small amount.
I ordered the Anti Fingerprint, and I honestly love it. The package comes with 2 screens, and I was able to get the 1st one done perfectly. The matte screen is a nice texture, similar to a resisitive touchscreen. It makes a slight sliding sound when swiping or using Swype but I have grown to like the sound a bit. About screen clarity, YES I can tell there is a bit more of a haze on the screen, specially when on bright white background. But I don't notice it when the screens on, and the anti fingerprint is MORE than enough reason to keep the screen protector on. As far as anti-fingerprint goes, fingerprints are a thing of the past!
from a epic Galaxy far, far away.
I use zagg invisible shields. They are working out pretty great, easy to clean also.
I'm rocking the Realook.
Pros:
Clarity
Smoothness (I can't stand the 'tacky' feel)
Exact Fit
2 in the kit
Durable so far
Reasonable price
Cons:
Fingerprints can show while screen off
Reduced sensitivity of capacitive buttons (any full-screen will have this)
Im using the Bodyguardz. Super clear and you get enough for 2 applications for the same price of 1 zagg set. They are the best I have ever used.
Also these dont reduce the sensitivity at all from what I have seen on the buttons. The buttons stink to begin with so that might be why. lol.
Are bodyguardz more rigid? Sometime i think i put too much water when applying my zagg and there are slight waves and i can make little ridges by running my nail against the shield.
Another Vote for Steinheil SGP protectors, I opted for the crystal clear version, first application was a breeze, can hardly tell the protector is even on the screen.. it is a fingerprint magnet but I really wanted it to protect against key scratches and such. so far I wouldn't use another.
stealth gaurds are what i like and the price is right. under 3$
Bodyguardz isn't too bad on the orange peel, but its still pretty soft.
Using the realook, its hard plastic and smooth, zero orange peel.
Heard good things about the SGP too, may try that next once this one gets worn out.
I have tried sedio, invisiable shield, body guardz, and I have to say the best hands down is realook. I can't even tell its there and feals just like the glass. Trust me best one.

What's wrong with no skin? Never scratched the hero and dropped it a bit...
I liked the zagg on my blackberries but it didn't help the touchscreen and eventually became a bother....
I'm using the Skinomi full body screen for my Epic, some people have had problems putting it on but I didn't have any issues. I like it a lot, and it comes with a life time warranty. I put a scratch on mine and sent in the mail form to get a new one, they sent it out, they charge for postage and you have to send the old film back but it still works out pretty well.
I have a zagg, it doesn't ever get that dirty look, doesn't peel around the edges, it has very clean look and feel, sensetivity is outstanding, no glues and chemical residues, and the special little bottle full of "special solution" used for applying the screen protecter... Water
Don't forget the Lifetime Warrenty for those that are going to use their Epic for the rest their life.

I wonder if there is a gell that we can put on our screens that would be to either repair light scratches or can protect it from scratches
Phantom Skinz all the way. Goes on smooth and feels smooth. Very little orange peel effect.
I just got the Steinheil anti fingerprint screen (it was like $8 for two on amazon), it was extremely easy to install and fits the screen perfectly. I didn't get it so much for protection, but more for the anti smudge and I have to say it works great for that purpose. It does have a noticeable matte look on our gorgeous screens, but I decided to take the tradeoff of the no prints. It also feels very different, it doesn't feel glass like or even plastic film like and you can hear you're finger swiping on it, again no big deal though. There is no decrease in sensitivity as well.
For protection purposes, I had skinomi on my hero, and once installed right (moderate difficulty) that worked out well for the duration that I used my phone.
What's the difference between the SPG "Anti-figerprint" and the "Ultra oleophobic?" Is it just the matte texture on the former? I'm debating between the two. I like the feeling of the matte but does it compromise the quality of the screen to an unpleasant effect?
Edit: Nvm, I watched a youtube video of the difference between the Anti-Fingerprint matte screen protector and the Ultra oleophobic clear screen protector. On the SGP website, it appears that they don't have an Ultra Oleophobic screen protector for the Epic quite yet.
The other day a phone droid x a guy had, had a screen protector that kinda felt like paper. But there was hardly any figer marks. Does anyone know which one im talking about. I know it was on a droid x but i would like one like it for my epic.
SGP Ultras - Mui Nice!
The SGP ultra is as clear as glass feels just like the original screen. Goes on easy without water and each pack you order, has two screen protectors in it. The only drawback, the screen themselves scratch. I haven't tried the low fingerprint (matte model) I read that it makes the blacks less deep. If you go with the SGP Ultras dont order them from the amazon vendor TechNGnet. I ordered a set for my epic and set for my wifes Evo. Hers arrived defective and it took an entire month for a replacement to show up! The guy didn't let us know that he was out of stock or communicated with us at all.
Hey all,
Just got this phone for my wife and we're working on properly accessorizing it. For now, we have a temporary case and what MUST be a temporary screen protector. Bought a cheapo one off eBay and it is TERRIBLE! There certainly is no glare but you know how oil on your screen causes the red, green, and blue to "pop" on a white screen? Well, this entire screen is like that and it's terrible! It's not a slight dulling of the screen. It's moreso a horrendous raping of the screen and spitting out the leftover colors - it's that bad!
I usually just default to Steinheil anti-glare screen protectors and have loved every single one! (We really want an anti-glare SP.) However, they didn't make one for this phone. Clearly, taking a stab at a random one off of eBay didn't work. So we're here asking ya'll. What's a good anti-glare one to use? Dry install, please.
Thanks!
If you can't find a screen protector for our phone, you can always find one for a bigger phone and cut it down to size.
You just have to be a little handy with an X-acto knife
I never really believed in screen protectors. The glass is resilient enough to withstand A LOT of wear and scratches
It's not that I can't find one. It's that I can't find a good one. And I would never be able to cut down a good-looking screen protector with an exacto knife, unfortunately. :-(

I know that the ones sprint has are good quality, they come in a 3 pack of sp, 2 standard and 1 antiglare for 12 bucks. I used them on my shift which is a 3.7 inch slider, and if i remember right it was shapped like the screen so i think it would work for this phone. I havent taken the risk yet but i def need to.

I got my screen protector in the mail today and put it on my phone. I figured I should share my thoughts along with some pictures for those who are looking at screen protectors.
The pack came with two screen protectors, a squeegee, some dust removal stickers, and a small micro fiber cloth. The protector was not too bad to put on, pretty similar to other dry application ones and the Realook which I have used on my Samsung Vibrant. It was kind of tough to align because the screen protector is literally exactly the width of your screen, so if you're off alignment, it looks horrible.
The screen protector is definitely super clear. It also is a fingerprint magnet, and it feels slightly tacky. I'm hoping that tackiness will go away as it gets more use, because I like being able to glide over my screen smoothly.
One huge disadvantage with this screen protector is that because of the curved screen, the protector only covers the flat part. It is definitely noticeable when you see it closer. I tried taking pictures to depict this. I also with they would have just had the protector cover the FFC. I'm not sure how it would actually affect the optics (if at all), but I really hate that cut out! Overall, I'm decently content with my purchase, but I would love to see pics and reviews for BSE when those arrive since I'm considering that for the back, and even replace the front if I end up not liking the Spigen.
Thanks so much for these. I used the SGP on my Gnex and loved it. There's something special about these Crystal series ones but I don't remember what it is.

I got the Ultra Clear for my N4. It hasn't arrived yet, so for now I'm using my spare One X Oleophobic. The Oleophobic is great, really good for repelling fingerprints, I would have got it but when I bought my N4 UltraClear they weren't selling the Oleo. Thanks for the pictures, it seems to fit a lot better than the One X SGP protectors did on the One X. Doesn't look too bad at all.
I got the crystal clear and I have the same issue with the protector being too small. I know that this has been the case with some their other protectors, but I'm going to have to try some other brands. I can't stand it being cut off like this.

I wonder if using the Google Bumper will hide the fact that it doesn't quite reach the edges.
I got the oleophobic one in today from SGP, it doesnt cover the whole screen either. Better than nothing i guess for now.
I'm starting to have a huge distaste for the curved screens. Feels nice with the hardware buttons on my S3, but looks like utter garbage with a screen protector.

The bumper does not cover it.
Also big warning for people looking to buy SGP: The light sensor is covered by this screen protector (not cut out like most) and it interfered with the functionality of the phone. In the past I've had screen protectors that went over the sensor without issue, but with this particular protector and phone, it did not work.
For example if i went to make a phone call, the screen would stay dark even if i took the screen away from my face. Also auto brightness didn't work either. I had to cut the film to expose the sensors. Everything is working normally now. Anyone else have this issue?
Also received mine today, dont have the phone yet though. Not feeling too happy about it already seeing as it doesnt cover the curved screen too well... Money down the drain then :s
Mine will arrive today and I plan to put it in a case so its not a big deal. The SGP on my Note 2 didn't go all the way to the edge either. A tpu case fixed that and everything was covered.

Good thing I waited. I am planning on using this phone with screen protectors only and I can't pay for a high quality one that looks pretty bad IMO.
Looks great. SGP never usually covers the entire front. It is always just a tad bit smaller.
You guys do know it has to be cut smaller because the curved edges will make the protector peel right?

Yes, but it stops way short of the curve. It literally just covers the display (width wise). They could have extended it a bit further. This is going to leave a gap, even with a TPU case on it.
How is the smoothness of these screen protectors? I really like the way zagg HD screen protectors feel and I'm looking for something similar.
Just received mine today. Installation was straightforward and the dust removal stickers easily snatched up the remaining few bits of dust at the end. The surface slickness is shockingly poor at first but improves drastically after just a few minutes.
The film doesn't run all the way to the edge due to the curvature of the screen, but there may be a solution. Steinheil makes a dry application edge to edge film called Curved Crystal for the SGS3 which also has a curved edge screen. If there is enough interest, I'm sure they will make one for the N4.

I'm not sure how smooth the zagg HDs are, but right after you put the screen protector on, it is really tacky. But it gets much more smoother as you use it. I think that as you use it more, you're depositing more skin oils onto to screen protector and it kind of "seasons" the screen protector.
This sounds weird, but I just put a bunch of fingerprints on it, then I distributed it using a dry kimwipe (i'm sure a microfiber would work too) and after using it for about 24 hours, it's pretty much as slick as you would expect from the bare glass. Also, of course there is no orange peel feeling since this is a dry application screen protector.

Well, i am getting a nexus 4 soon and confused as to which screen protector to use.
both skinomi and xtremegaurd seem to have good reviews in this forum.
Any clear cut winner between the two or any third one which should be considered since i just look at this forum and nowhere else?
XtremeGuard is really iffy. I got a bad batch from them, it came to $6 for 3 full body sets. All of the fronts were garbage, so I told them. They sent me 3 more new ones. I'm yet to receive them, but we'll see what happens...
Skinomi may have changed since I got one for my Galaxy S2, but these were like Zaggs, only of worse quality. Dust would get trapped on the surface of the skin, and it would take a lot of effort to get them out, such that I made scratches that wouldn't go away. I tried buffing it with a glass cleaner and ended up burning the surface of the protector such that it fogged it up beyond any recovery.
I hear good things about XOskins and BestSkinsEver, but I can't verify anything about those.
Get the ZAGG.

Well, i am getting a nexus 4 soon and confused as to which screen protector to use.
both skinomi and xtremegaurd seem to have good reviews in this forum.
Any clear cut winner between the two or any third one which should be considered since i just look at this forum and nowhere else?

I have both the BSE and the xtremeguard for the N4. Orange peel is about the same for both(next to nothing). The BSE is the cleaner cut of the two although mine doesn't have a proximity cut out they have since changed that afaik. Out of the gate the BSE is definitely the less tacky. About the same for reflectiveness and dimensions. Xtremeguard is cheaper by quite a bit and comes with a very small microfiber.
*edit* if it matters to you BSE comes with side protectors while xtreme does not.

I agree that you should get Zagg - if you want to overpay and get a noticeable orange peel surface. If you want less orange peel (but still present) and less than half the cost, get Best Skin Ever.
I had a Zagg on a blackberry that got driven- over with my car - which completely destroyed the device. When I peeled-off the Zagg, the screen was in factory new condition. I was impressed with the protection it offered, but the orange peel and tackiness of the surface really detected from interfacing with a glass surface.
Everyone has an opinion about screen protectors, and now you know mine.

wah wah wah, no one asked for yours.
XtremeGuard sent me three faulty ones (no cut out for proximity sensor), so they sent a replacement, but only one set... i paid for three sets. plus the one they sent me turned out to be partially stuck to the envelope rendering it unusable. Still waiting for them to send me my 3 sets.
Very bad customer service, true they replay right away but so far all their replies are automated, they don't actually read what we write.
I used to have a Zagg on my GNex, but I got tired of the Orange peel effect. Swipes were pretty rough for the first few weeks as well. I ordered a total body skin from BSE and I am very impressed with it. Minimal orange peel and smooth swipes. However, I can see a few tiny dimples that have appeared and light marks where my fingernails went across the screen. But they can only be seen with the screen off and holding the screen at an angle in the light.

E-mail customer service about the proximity issue, they will send you one for free
EDIT: Just realized that those tiny dimples came from leaving my phone face down on a windows sill with paint that didn't dry flat.
It all depends what you like. i aboslutelly hate the rubbery feel protectors. I still like to feel like glass. If you want rubbery get zaggs if you prefer more like the current glass I'd recommend the Rearth Ringbo or SGP. I use the Rearth and its great and very very very easy to install.

Are the rearth ones front and back or just the front screen guard?
What are all you guys' thoughts on armorsuit?

Is it better than xtremeguard? And how is it compared to the SGP ultra crystal?
