Since I got some experience from my Simple RSS Widget app, I made a similiar app for calendar events: Simple Calendar Widget.
The widgets font size, color & background color is adjustable and the widget is resize- & scrollable.
The app is free & without ads or scary permissions. As it makes use of the new widget features from Honeycomb & ICS, you need at least Android 3.0 to use this widget!
If anyone is interested in making a nice app icon for the market, please contact me!

There is already a great app called Simple Calendar Widget on the market - by Alexander G. Did you search app names before creating yours?
mh well, i might change that name then. it's just very similiar to my "simple rss widget" and therefore i named it like that. also it is just a calendar widget and it is very, very simple ^^
This is a nice widget to show some upcoming events. Can you add the ability to customize the date format shown when using the option "Show current date"? I like to use Today and Tomorrow for the events themselves and it's nice to have the current date on my screen, and even better if I can customize it! Thanks!

when checking that checkbox, you should get a popup asking for the date format
Yes I see now. Don't know how I missed it. Thanks!
Hello j4velin,
the question is very similar as it was in 2013
In Appereance at every date section I see date format, and the default is custom. But, how can I customize? I'd like "mmm.dd., dddd" format
Thats really well made and accurate widget. Simple. Customizable. Top and bottom shading ensure widget very organic among other stuff on desktop.

Still looking for feedback on this if anyone else time to test it
Just updated the market version to 0.9.2 which allows multi row widgets.
Downloading now.

Cool, let me know what you think

0.9.3-Beta now on market, various fixes to update logic and import/export ics files.
Multi row widgets now allow you to choose the top row and show upcoming for the others (settings->widget->event mode->chosen top, others upcoming).
Choose a row by opening the Quick Agenda, tap and hold then press "choose event"
I was looking for something to replace Smooth Calendar widget and after I tested few other, I tested Quick Agenda.
It was a litle pain to understand how to configure it, but after I managed to set it, I have to say that it is the agenda widget I was looking for!
It is working very good in my system (look at my sig ).
Feedback left on Android Market (John - Apl 17)...
Thanks for the feedback and I'm glad you like it!
Any suggestions on what I can do to make the setup easier to understand? (e.g. what did you have trouble with?)
Hard to make suggestions as I'm starting to get used to the settings...
Meanwhile, I think I found a little bug: I had four appointments for tomorrow and using the left side panel (Quick Agenda) I changed the day to April 20.
The display was refreshed ok after a minute.
After that, using again the Quick Agenda menu, I changed the dates again to April 23, but the displaying appointments were not refreshed (they were on April 20).
So, Quick Agenda had the 4 appointments showing on April 23 but the main widget menu was showing them on April 20 (when I clicked on each one to edit, the date was on April 20).
After I opened the settings menu for widget and for Quick Agenda and closed it, the display was corrected to April 23.
Something else I want to ask for, if it is possible to select a span for the days ahead which is going to be displayed in widget (e.g. only the following 3 days, etc.)
Thanks in advance
So you would like the widget to refresh when one of the events on it changes? Should be possible!
Span of days is pretty easy as well.

Maybe would be a good idea to have a service running in the background to make possible to change immediately the widget contents when an event changes or in an addition/deletion of an event (in Smooth Calendar there was the selection of auto update (for the widget) which started the background service)

Yep, an ugly content observer doing something its not supposed to the background is the way I will be doing it
Should get to it later this afternoon or tomorrow, I will try to make it steal as few resources as possible!

Done, this new setting is available in market (along with the "event look ahead"/span of days feature and other enhancements). It is sort of hidden in customize widget->update settings->Refresh on change (at the bottom).
Let me know how it goes!

I'm going to test it and tell you how it goes
Early first impressions
After installing new beta, I have to remove old widget and set all over a new one
The worse: I was almost done with my settings and I was in Quick Agenda's setting page. I pressed the bottom selection ('Widget setting') and I had Force Close
Every time I press the above selection it gives Force Close (the message it gives is:
"The application QuickAgenda (process com.everybodyallthetime.android.quickagendatrial) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again."
Oh no! Sorry about your settings, I will be adding a restore feature soon to load settings from other widgets (I should probably add tis function first next time).
I think I have fixed the widget settings button (uploaded a new version to the market just before). Does it fix fit?
EDIT: PM'ed you my email address, maybe we can recover the prefs
Ok I got your pm.
I'm going to send you an email in a few minutes...
This app is getting close to release time, check it out while it is free!
Recent changes:
Save/Load widget settings
rejigged the settings some more
changed the default view to be upcoming and chosen
Layout upgrades
I realized yesterday, that I think this app has an identity crisis.
Its not quite a popup agenda app
Its not quite an agenda widget app
Its not quite a count down widget app
Its not quite an ical handler app
It has all these functions though they are all muddle together.
The 2nd and 3rd are easy, remove the "single row" option from the current widget and make another widget called "countdown". But this could also be a separate application.
The first one is hard. I could release Quick Agenda as just the agenda popup and allow other applications (such as a new countdown widget app or new agenda widget app) to interface with it or I could leave it built in to this weird Frankenstein app I have already created.
The last one should be in all my apps
Any opinions?

Excellent work!
Just installed, gave it a whirl for 5 minutes and paid for licence.

Just love the change log! waiting for more...
more themes will also be nice to have... =)
I found this app by chance and love it. I can't stop talking about how nice it is.
I'd LOVE an orange theme, similar to BigDX's Orange Serenity for LP. Or something close.

People judge by the default theme instead of the actual functionality.
Just check the 'Use Thin Frame' and suddenly it won't look like LP.
Lets take the people widget as an example
APW shows Facebook pictures of contacts.
APW allows you to change click action to direct dial or direct message (even for each contact separately).
APW can sort contacts by frequently called first (In the paid version it even allows custom order and creation of custom groups).
APW can show contacts also in a list view.
It is true that LP widgets have their advantages like month flipping in the calendar and generally they behave much better on Launcher Pro
(Note: Launcher pro only support an old scrollable widgets API so any scrollable widget except for LP's own is not as slick as it could be).
We have absolutely nothing against Launcher Pro, it is a great launcher !
You are all free to try both
'use thin frame' should be enabled by default.

Do you plan to implement notifications with read, unread, mark all as read etc. options like colorize widgets have?
Edit: colorize widgets doesn't have this option. I remeber seing it somewhere but I can't remeber where.

Hi all. I have been looking for a very simple and not too large SMS Widget that I could place on WidgetLocker. Since I could not find any that would fit my needs (especially only being 4x1 max), I created one on my own.
I would like you to install this widget if you were looking for the same thing and kindly ask you to give me some feedback, what you would expect, or what could be improved.
Currently, the widget displays all SMS that it finds. This is planned to be only unread SMS. But I thought for testing purpose it's easier like this. The idea is to fully hide the widget once no unread sms are here (just looks better in WidgetLocker).
Features (v0.1.0):
automatic monitoring of SMS
hide the widget, if there are no sms.
Browse all sms
Automatically scroll Names.
Will display the currently displayed sms throughout all widgets (if you browse, all the widgets show the same sms).
Planned Features / Improvements
Easier button pushing
Auto scroll of text
Basic configuration (colors, disabling of features)
Themes for widget.
Mark SMS as read from widget
Delete SMS from widget.
Project page: http://code.google.com/p/messagewidget/
Many thanks in advance!
PS: Since this is my first android app, I was not even sure, if I signed it correctly and so on, so please be a bit patient!
Hi Guys,
Notification Weather is an exceptionally stylish and easy to use app for always staying up to date with the weather forecast.
Notification Weather is specifically designed to be as simple and intuitive as possible. In fact, Notification Weather requires 0 clicks to operate as it runs entirely in the background, thus minimizing impact on battery life or data usage. The forecast is placed directly in the notification dropdown and blends seamlessly with the operating system, leading you to believe it is part of the system.
Notification Weather is using Weather data from some of the best weather sources available including: Open Weather Map, Yahoo! weather, and Weather Bug.
Notification Weather Pro also supports AccuWeather and World Weather Online.
Pro Features:
- A refresh button and progress bar in notification that allows you to refresh the data manually
- Launch your app of choice by tapping the notification.
- 2 extra weather providers: AccuWeather and World Weather Online
- Option to get rid the small notification icon in the status bar
- Option to Swipe the notification to dismiss, until next update.
- Ability to switch between 12/24 hour time format.
- No Ads
Notification Weather Free
Notification Weather Pro
Themes
It's been asked multiple times so I went ahead and created the ability to theme the app. please go to Notification Weather Pro Theme to learn more
Translations
If you would like to help translate Notification Weather to you language, please feel free to help. Any help is appreciated.
Notification Weather now uses getLocalization.com to maintain translations. Please register at http://www.getlocalization.com/NotificationWeather , and help translate Notification Weather to your native language. You can request a new language too, just send me a PM.
Thanks for helping out!

This is great. I agree with nyloncrack above, that there should be an option for just the current weather. And also, for the notification icon, it would be much more useful if you had the current temperature instead of that image of a sun. Great app though!

Another request, can you please let us choose the weather providers? I'd like to use yr.no instead of Yahoo. They have a MUCH more extensive list of cities, especially in small countries like mine. Yahoo only has the capital and about 2-3 cities.
In all cases, thanks A LOT. Just a few days ago I was asking on Twitter if someone knew a weather forecast app that made use of Jelly Bean's notifications. And now, you did it!
A few additions:
1. Maybe add the option to have rain probability for today.
2. German "Umlaute", like ö, ä, ü will not display correctly.
Nice app all in all. I will try it out for a few days and then decide on keeping it or not =)
LOOKS GREAT!!!!
Just what I have been looking for.
For those that don't want 4day forecast, just two finger swipe up on the notification and it will shrink it.
The only suggestion I have: have an option to get rid of icon in status bar.
But looks great man, might I ask where you learned your coding? I would like to get into it.
I like it. Although when I uninstalled it, my phone restarted. GS3 with CM10 nightly.
Looking great, congrats!
As far as I know, you can't get rid of the icon, so it'd be great to have the current temp on it (yes, it has to be an icon resource, so you'll have to generate icons for all possible temps... sucks, I know)
Would you consider sharing the source code? I'm interested in programming a somewhat similar permanent notification widget and really think this could help me out.

Google introduced expandable notifications in android 4.1 (jelly bean) so unless they backport it to ICS, I won't be able to release it on ICS.
Weather ACE (Accurate, Customizable, Easy-to-use)Customizable weather forecasts based on forecast statistics
Uploaded with ImageShack.usHe all! We have lot of weather applications available for android, but most of them - use only one weather source and have very limited customization options.
Who it's bad to rely on the only one weather source for information? - be course you don't see alternatives. Weather forecasts usually made by using of weather forecasts models. Different weather forecast sources (Weather Underground, Accuweather, National Weather Service and etc) use different forecasts models that produce sometimes completely different forecasts. The main idea of the application - provides best (by forecast statistics) available data in easy-to-use way and allows to customize application look.
Application features:
- Accurate weather forecasting by using generated forecast statistics (it's compare current weather with that was predicted)
- Contains multiple views for weather information, daily, hourly and extended weather information. Possibility to compare weather information from different weather data sources in a view.
- Home screen widgets. Common widget and stack widget (stack widget required android 3.0+).
- Supports millions of locations.
- Lot of options for customization (most of colors, fonts, icon themes, units of measure etc). All three feels-like types of temperatures supported.
- Lot of usefull and precize informations about weather, sun and moon. I used best available algoritms for all the information.
- Phone and tablet optimized (Android 2.1+ required).
- Weather ACE contains internal help, I working on homepage now.
- developed in the way to use less battery as possible.
Uploaded with ImageShack.us
It's mostly just a start. My current planing:
- weather graphs.
- support for plugins (weather icons, pictures, fonts, may be more). Possible even custom views (the application already have part of code for it).
- 3+ more new views.
- weather maps with offline support.
The application contains ads, but I see lot of special applications here that can help you with ads, so it's you decision - will you see the ads or not. :fingers-crossed: You can also just buy a version without of ads and helps me improve the application more.
Application link on Google play market
Application seems stable for me. I have no crashes at all.
Feel free to share your ideas about the application and new features that you need here or via mail.
The application now #14 in "Top New Free" on Google Play for category "Weather" (was #15 several hours ago, so it grows). I see no ANRs/crashes in my google play developer console, so seems completely stable. Have lot of new installs today.
Please check, I hope it will suit your needs too. I would be grateful for any feedback (here or via mail) for to make the application better.

- added new weather icon theme.

In it's latest vrrsion it is outstanding. My very favorite weather app. Using its plug-in for Tasker is icing on the cake
I love this app, will there be more updates or no more support for this great app? I really like thats its so customizeable and i can change design to match my homescreen, even colors and weather icons. I find that radar and maps are missing areas sometimes, sometimes theres a lot of gray rectangles without any data. I want to display hourly weather from app with Tasker plugin in KWGT, how to do it and it is possible? How to create apk with weather icons?
Ya....this is the best Weather App out there. Love it. Nothing else like it around.
I've read everywhere that this weather app is supposed one of the best ones but it seems that many people (myself included) are experiencing a problem that prevents it to start (at least on Nougat). The app immediately crashes miserably as soon as is started.
The play store review section is now full of reviews where people is complaining because of that.
Do you guys know if the developer is aware of it, or did it abandon the development?
