NEED(Dev) enabling OTG and Advanced Dolby 5.1 surround - HTC Sensation

i was look on qualcomm web site and i can across this doc saying the chipset has OTG and dolby sound on it https://developer.qualcomm.com/sites/default/files/snapdragon-s3-product-overview.pdf
i wounder if any one can active it

The chip supports USB otg... A custom kernel and some modules would be required to make it work.... Any kernel devs willing to try? I think I have some instructions on how to do it.. (leftover from when I was trying to achieve that on the desire )

what about the evo
what about the evo kernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1392588 the evo 3d work on the MSM8660 whict is the near the MSM8260 chipset cant someone port it

i did not try the hdmi out function yet, so don't know if 5.1 is working on it but the qualcomm document is talking about 5.1 on hdmi.
really hope on otg too but i just don't think it will work without external power.

iv try the hdmi and no 5.1 out sorry

here more detial info
http://www.qualcomm.com/documents/files/snapdragon-msm8x60-apq8060-product-brief-latin-america.pdf

if it's anything like the hp touchpad (has the exact same chip) the pins on the chip itself are not connected. in other words a very difficult hardware mod is likely required before software can be of any help.

I think ICS supports a form of USB OTG, since it supports USB devices. Not sure if it supports flash drives.
http://www.zdnet.com/blog/gadgetrev...pport-for-usb-keyboards-digital-cameras/24522

in the changelog of the pyramid 3D rom it does say "> fixed USB OTG" anybody running that rom? i will try when a bigger sd card arrives.
Edit: on ARHD 6.0.3 ICS there is a libusbhost.so but i think that's just ICS's and not specific HTC one

[Q] RGB / TV Out for HTC Desire HD?

Does anyone know a way to connect the HTC Desire HD to a beamer or TV (or.. What i'm ultimately looking for, the Video-input of the Toyota Prius built in LCD).
Thanks!
DHD doesn't have a TV out option, maybe the hardware is able to do it, but don't get your hopes up.
only option i see to get content to a screen is via the DLNA option, which requires an DLNA adapter for your PRIUS.
this way you still cant get a screen view there, just photo's or video's or sound.
if you want android in your car, perhaps a cheap china tablet could work for you that has TV out?
> cheap china tablet could work for you that has TV out?
Do you have any Suggestions on that?
I was a bit let-down by the fact that my Prius could infact import the contacts from my phone, but not the contact pictures to browse through.. Obviously, to get the whole interconnected experience, you'd also want the touch screen on the car relay it's input to the phone... still a bit to much to ask for, I think...
Thanks for the tip!
Anyone actually tried to buy this http://cgi.ebay.com/1-4-Micro-HDMI-AV-Video-Cable-Type-D-HTC-HDTV-/140567818112?_trksid=p5197.m7&_trkparms=algo%3DLVI%26itu%3DUCI%26otn%3D2%26po%3DLVI%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D1160370007762118256#ht_2020wt_1141
(just an example) to se if it actually works? I mean; isn´t DHD and EVO 4G close to similar in hardware?
Its not possible with the DHD, sadly. All you can do is stream audio/video with DLNA. But no screen mirroring for games or anything. I dont really care because i would never use it anyway. At home i have better devices that i can hook up to my tv And my girlfriend has an old TV without hdmi so... If i wanna take a movie to her place i put it on my DHD copy it to her laptop hook the lappy to the tv and off we go.
You´re right. Just thought it would be funny if it actually worked.

If the hardware wasn't put there by HTC, it will NOT work.
You say it NOW works? How? The hardware wasn't there to begin with, so cannot be there now.

Please post some proof of you getting MHL working on a DHD. I have that MHL usb cable which works fine on my friends Sensation, but I doesn't work on my DHD using any rom. I've tried ICS, CM7, stock and custom roms based on stock. None of them will detect the mhl cable.

Can confirm what you are saying i have a DHD and a Sensation and mhl cable is only working on the sensation on dhd there is no effect

When they actually become available, the Raspberry Pi could be good for getting DLNA on TVs. A lot cheaper than anything specifically for it (but you'd also need a wifi dongle)
No TV Out of any kind for Desire HD
Unfortunately there is no option for TV OUT for Desire HD, no RGB, no HDMI, no MHL, the only option is DLNA.

[Q] Sensation USB Host Feature

I know that USB Host is a Honeycomb feature, but it seems that Samsung has somehow ported it to Gingerbread for the GS2. Does anyone know if any of the Sensation ROMs will ever be able to support USB host?
Btw, this is taken from the DSLR Controller post (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16497326&postcount=257), but the package we would need is android.hardware.usb.host.
I'm interested in getting USB Host mode too for that very purpose. Hope it happens soon.
Hello,
any progres with USB host on HTC sensation?
I probably must kill my self becouse i bought sensationg betwean Samsung S2 with default USB support
Stupid nokia N8 support usb HOST....
I try google some posibilites but i didnt find anything
Thx alot Martin
If the t-mobile version of the galaxy s2(aka Hercules) can do it, then we should for we share the same class of SoC(the MSM8260 vs the APQ8060), the only difference being the APQ is without a Qualcom modem. Also they both support USB OTG according to the Qualcomm specs for the Gen 3 Snapdragons. Now we just need someone to port it over.
I found arcticle when Somebody aply usb host support tu HTC DHD
Included:
new kernel
2 new modules
and probably some new "software" for using it.
Could someone be interested in developing the usb host features?? If I had the technical competences, I would develop it...but I don't know how to do it!!
If someone it's interested in it, I could donate something
Thank you
would be very nice to have such option. just perfect to copy something from one's flash stick.
When i had xperia neo, a person(a gr8 person) ported the modules into xperia 2011 series- Doomlord
Some developer should contact him
Sent from my htc Sensation 4G using XDA App
this would be of interest to me, I'm guessing we just need one or two kernel modules, and an app to load/unload them
i'm intrested too, is there news ?
USB Host mode would actually the one feature missing to make ICS perfect
I am very interested in this feature too, but can't find any solutions :/
And there is any progress? The USB Host Diagnostics v1.2 says me only NO
works on ICS?

OTG USB on HTC MAGIC
I found this (Sorry i cannot post a link so you have to search for >> USB Host Mode on HTC Dream << on Blogspot) It is a step by step howto recompile a kernel with USB Host Support. Iwill try it on my old G1. But first I need a adapter or better a schematic for diy, so i can test if it works.
Greetings Hubert
tried today bricked kernel, which is supposed to have usb host... usb host diagnostics said no... and the device wasnt recognised...
Yesterday i got a USB cable with OTG.
Is this cable will be good?
http://allegro.pl/kabel-usb-micro-b-usb-2-0-katowy-90st-otg-i2151082743.html
------
The cable does not work at all. I can not even install the program USB Host Controller (e.g.). I ask because in HD2 had to connect the external power supply.

the cable itself is ok, but since we don't have otg working yet it won't work. If we ever get otg working i don't know if you have to power every device, a lot of devices will need power like external hdd's.
google nexus one & desire
Hey guys,
wasn't there news that ICS would have quite a few usb drives implemented.
Anyway, I know there was a big fuss about usb host mode in the google nexus one section and since they were one of the first to get ics working, maybe somebody from there could help out. Like from the top of my head leedroid, or somebody like him.
Can't post any links sorry.

[DEV][TESTERS REQUIRED]USB-OTG for i9001

Hey peeps,i saw that the Desire HD has USB-OTG mod,so it might be possible to apply that patch over here.
Anybody willing to test?It requires the specific cable for testing!
NOTE-It might burn your motherboard due to excessive voltage/power!

Hi, this idea sounds great! Unfortunately I am (still) too big a noob to try this (as you can see, I just joined this forum).
I was wondering if there is a way to connect a usb peripheral (especially a USB-keyboard) and make the Galaxy S Plus i9001 function as a USB-host.

any phones which didnt have tv-out by company, and devs did it?
If the arc s has (mini) hdmi out, this port is directly connected with the chipboard. You'll see that every msm8255-related board has hdmi connection possibilities when you look on the specification plan / roadmap of qualcomm about this board. It's impossible to use the mini usb port -> usb -> hdmi, by any usb to hdmi converter. There's windows, mac or linux based software needed for output in hdmi.
The sgs, sgs + (and possibly the i9003 as well) got a tv out trough the 3.5 mm jack. There was a thread about it a couple of months ago, since samsung made it impossible to connect it with a universal cable. Samsung changed the connector slightly to force people to buy the official samsung cables for this.

You mean the 3.5 mm to video connectors (3 colors analog connector, I forgot how they're called...)? Samsung should be selling those cables, but I havent searched for them. Camcorders of about ten years back often use them, however they wont work with galaxy s phones, since they made the connection proprietaire...
Getting the mini hdmi output connector on the msm8255 board is impossible of course (or someone should be willing to be soldering a mini hdmi connector on its phone )
Sent from my GT-I9001 using XDA App
if it is possible to build a kernel with usbotg support it should also be possible to make the sgs+ compatible with the car/deskdock
since chrismas i have a original samsung car dock, but as many others i have problems with charging/connecting.
i know the trick with "connecting slowly/half". it works, but this is not very comfortable.
isnt it possible to have a lock in the i9000 files to get the sgs+ compatible.
as far as i know samsung used the ID-Pin (no.4) in the micro usb connector to identify car or desk dock, as it is discribed in the official usb battery charging spec 1.2 ***.usb.org/developers/devclass_docs/BCv1.2.zip
the identification is a simple resistance messuament
and the 3 nominal values are 124k, 68k, 36.5k as discribed on page 56.
so maybe somebody can have a lock in the i9000 files and search for so called AccessoryChargerAdaptor detection (ACA dock).
or maybe someone knows an other way to get the sgs+ charging correctly in the car dock. (audio out isnt important)

OTG usb host on desire s???

maybe there is something about this on forum that i can't find so i need to ask, how to make usb hosting - OTG to work?
i am using CM7.1 with stock kernel. can i make it work if i put Tiamat-Saga kernel? is there something else that i have to do?
Hope you get an answer, but please try to post in the correct places, this it's for development hence the name not general questions, I've asked that it's moved
Swyped from my Desire S using XDA Premium
does someone know answer to my question?
I'm not sure if its a kernel thing but from what I've read cyanogenmod 7 supports it. I don't know how it works though

I'm interested in this too.
I've bought Nokia CA-157 OTG Cable. After little sawing it's compatible with phones other than Nokia. It's confirmed, that it's working with Samsung Galaxy SII. But I'm worried, because it's doesn't seems to work properly. After i plug cable in, Car Home app is opening. On Sense-based ROM-s it's Location. Tell me, this is normal? When I plug in pendrive, his diode does not light. I'm worried about this, too.
Look at this topic: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=702742
They can do it for desire. So I think there are no problems for desire S.
But we need an external power because I've never seen any HTC devices support power for usb otg.
With sony xperia 2011 or samsung galaxy S2, we don't need an external power. These devices support output power for micro usb port.

[Q] MHL Sense 4 vs Non-Sense/3.6

I noticed that Prime 5 has HDMI out working while Ordroid 8.1.0 does not. A black screen appears on Ordroid.
1. Would there be an easy way to look at the differences in libraries between the two and figure out which files are needed for MHL to work properly if anyone is familiar with which binaries provide HDMI out?
2. I saw elsewhere that if it isn't just a HTC specific library, then the correct kernel should provide the MHL interface and swapping the kernel could make a Sense 4 ROM do HDMI out. Any further thoughts?
