Hi guys, just wanted to know what you love about CM7... Many many people use it over sense...
Why?
I've tried it, and tried to like it, but I cant find special qualities it has over other ROMs.
I know some people hate sense, so they use CM7 as its AOSP, but why CM, and not others?
Is it because of the CM settings?
I'm talking about CM7 aswell, not 9, as I know ICS will make a huge difference.
So what are your top features of CM7?

The themes available for Theme Chooser are incredible. The waste has been stripped out. Its beautiful :')

i agree with this guy theme chooser + adw launcher ex (for example) create the perfect ui and dockbar style to make use of

no probs mate another reason why i use cm7 over other roms is the battery life optimization done by the devs that work on it

I have an HTC Incredible 1 and I'm trying to get a fresh upgrade for the UI but still have some of the basics mostly the same. Will I be able to do a track ball unlock mod with CM7?? Also will the camera, video camera, and HD work on my phone? I am pretty excited to try it, but I'm afraid of whiping my phone, yet again.

Not everyone likes CM7. But I'm not feeling HTC Sense on this phone either...I like the leaked GB Rom.

sense 3.0 YES!!!!
i would love a sense rom on this phone! not a fan of gb or cm7. they are good roms but sense is nice and even if takes resources the g2x has plenty to spare, wouldnt affect much on it. my hd2 ran sense beautifully and as bad ass a phone as it was it wasnt quite the powerhouse i have now. sense would be nice addition to the rom dev for those of us who enjoy that type of ui.

+1 To this. A wide range of roms for a wide range of people is what we need on a phone. Sense brings a lot of features that stock doesn't have and an ease of use that people like. I'm looking forward to sense on the g2x,and miui, and gs2 twiz, etc. bring on the variety!
i would like to test different roms on this phone. i like miui, gingerbread, aosp, and sense. You know what i dont like STOCK. so lets bring whatever roms we can get to our side. If we didnt have ANY ROMS to flash people would be complaining. Be grateful. I dont really see what the big dispute is about. If you dont like it DONT FLASH IT. Problem solved. Heck yeah I would want sense. CM7 is nice. If they get sense ported on here, I bet it will be faster than the sensation. The sensation only gets like 1300 in quadrant. Don't give me that quadrant isn't optimized for gingerbread cause it is. I'm sure this phone would be like 2000 via quadrant with sense added

I love CM7 but when I wanna show off to my buddies I'll flash a sense rom. So 95% of the time CM7 will be installed. I just like having alot of rom options. Also as many roms/kernels as possible.

I agree with you 100%. I'm beyond bored with the stock build. sense on this phone would be bad ass. I did find a cool app that makes the phone look sense-like. "Lp sense ui".

What you see in the Development forum is what you get...so no, unfortunately. What did it have that you're looking for?
I'm not a fan of Sense, but damn, Myn's rom had the best Sense skin I've ever seen. Classy looking, slick, and most of all, stable as all hell. If it was brought over to the Inspire, I have no doubts it'd be a VERY popular rom. It's been the most popular EVO rom for a long time now.

Pretty much everything. I liked the look of the Widgets. And the Keyboard. I really liked the redesign to the market and browser. The font lol. Things like that.

When I was trying out the EVO I ran myns Rom and it was nice but at this point not many people are into 2.2 for the inspire.
If you look in the themes forum....there is a thread for sense skins..I think his work is available for Inspire.

funny, i just flashed back to AR HD 3.0 because it's been the most stable and quickest for me out of anything ive tried since then.

I run a froyo Rom on my incredible for the same reasons. Currently dealing with the issues associated with sense 3.0 on my inspire just so I can have the latest. You know how it is though, the excitement lies in getting new stuff so that is where the devs spend their time.

According to their release informations, TFS will be on market on 29th of February!

Makes me curious what is some big about the 29th. Miui v4 ics is getting officialy support on the sensation on the 29th as well and the galaxy s2 and this is getting released that day. Odd. I almost bet that Miui has a hand in this. Just my 2 pennies.

I can't say it is nerby similar to miui, never seen that iphone look has effects. I think it is static, but this is not looking static it looks like a place to play. And often charge the phone

I am used to charge a phone twice a day thanks to my old hd2 phone but I dont think I will have to do that on my sensation. My guess: baterry usage will be ok. Spb shell also has lots of things to play around but doesnot drain battery like a hell. But if you play around it a lot, display will drain your battery like a hell
By the way, they announced on their site tsfui.com that it will be on market by this evening.. I hope it will.

so as we all no Nexx is hard at work getting the 3.0 kernel ready and just about every dev is going to want to use it to fully harness ics on our DS so i wanted to know which ics rom everyone is looking to use as their main one and why, so i'll kick things off
right now i'm leaning towards Blindice as my main rom, i've tried the latest cm9 and a whole load of other ics roms and blindice seems the most stable for me so far, also got the best connectivity out of all the ones i've tried so far

i dont even know how i forgot an option for lowveld, his rom was like a savior for me, i remember i flashed saga lbc and thought that was as good as custom roms got lol :/

I'm looking forward to Sense based ROMs in the long run, but I don't think they will be ready for a while, to the point where they are customizable with RCTweaks etc.
So I'm looking at CM9. I don't think there will be CM9 Stable so soon. Remember CM7.2 started in December 2010. They got a couple if RC out during January > April. But the final version came October. I'm guessing that officially we will get CM9 RC pretty soon. And the final version with all the tweaks/themes done will come by October like it did with CM7.
If you look at CM9 now, they have a lot of placeholders.

Ahh you may be the one to clear this up for me wats the difference between the rc and stable :s on topic: I used to love cm7 till I realised it was more of a base that everyone seems to use to make some amazing roms cm feels lacking on features for me, I'm looking forward to sense to things like htc watch are quite enticing I must say

RC = Release candidate. It is a build that has been tested quite alot, and has potential to become the final build. This is one step ahead of the nightly builds. Then once they decide which is the stablest RC, it becomes the stable/final.
I certainly agree with you. When Reaper first came, I held off it, for some reason I do not know why, but I recently tried Reaper (in fact still on it currently) and its fantastic.
Yeah some sense apps are excellent and are the main reasons I use it, particularly the camera app. Its miles ahead of AOSP ones.

I'm not to sure about the actual quality, but the UI of the Sense camera app is better.
Simply because it allows touch-to-focus video, face detection, and instant snap mode.

God damn, now I'm considering going back to Endymion, just to have face detection back... cool but pointless feature
Touch to focus works on the CM camera app, but it doesn't work while shooting video.
How often do you use your cam? I only ever use it during holidays or special events. The last time I used it for proper shots (not just the odd picture) was during Christmas.
If I ever want to go back to Endymion, I'm only a Nandroid away

it's not stupid.. i would use blindice, but the overwhelming support for a sense based one would make me try that and likely stick with it.. once the kernel is released most of the roms will all get to a point where every feature works.. on all of them.. therefore it will be the extra merits of the roms for example speed, performance, addons, customisability etc, this thread is too see which one people are looking forward to, thats why i said stable
Continuing on the discussion reg camera, I have observed tha the STOCK Sense camera gives better pictures with lesser noise nad smaller file sizes...
I'd like to see a full Sense 4 port, only reason I'm looking forward to Kernel 3.0. That and 60 FPS graphics across ICS

i'm waiting for a sense 4 rom too, using cm9 atm as i want ICS with a working camera (no sense rom has a bugless camera...)
