Go into settings and clear the data for the Browser application, or just turn off bookmark sync.
This is what it has been in my and a few others experience but YMMV. You can back upthe data and if desired figure out how to merge stuff back in by hand; I'm to lazy to bother.

[Q] how to turn of services like Asus weather?

I was looking at the task widget the other day and saw that the Asus weather task was running. I don't use the widget so I thought this to be strange. Then I thought maybe its updating in the background even if you're not actually using it, so I changed the settings for this widget to sync manually. But it still pops in the task list from time to time.
Is there a way to shut done services I don't use (like Asus weather) and thereby making my tablet a bit faster?
Root it

Is rooting the only option?

Well, there are lots of ways you could go about doing this, but disabling it would be the best. You don't need to root it for that

Thanx a lot.

Google Maps issues

I absolutely can't use Google Maps for some reason. It closes without any sort of reason while just using it normally. I tried to look up an address and then zoomed out, it went blank and then just closes. No dialog boxes, nothing. I'm not sure what is causing the issue, but I can't use it.

Mine seems to be doing the same thing.

Same here as well... (.26)
Yep, same here (on .26)
Maybe use google earth instead? IDK if they work the same.

They're similar, but not the same. Kind of strange that Maps doesn't work though, that's a pre-loaded, Google app.
EDIT: Just tried to uninstall all the updates, no dice. Still not working. Weird, as I used it when I first got my tablet just fine. Maybe something in the .26 update broke it...

It has to be something from an update since I'm still on .21 and have no problems with it. If someone on .22 could check if their Google Maps works, maybe we could see where it first becomes an issue.
I'll try as well when I update to .22
I had no problem right out of the box.
I manually updated to .26 and again no problem

Rooted but locked
OTA updated to 26 and map is working fine, pretty fast zoom in and out.
Go to applications and clear data / cache on google maps and then force stop. Restart tablet and try opening google maps.

Tried that, still closes out after going blank, how strange :/
I am also on .26 and no problems with Google maps.

Have you uninstalled the app and then reinstalled?
I just check and Google maps seems to be working fine for me as well (on .26 also). I searched for an address and then zoomed out and back in and back out, etc - didn't notice any issues.
I'm rooted & unlocked if that matters...

Have you tried a cold boot? My maps seem to be working fine but I've had some problems with not being able to zoom in close enough to see streets and use street view. But then I tried on my phone and had the same issue. Must be something with the new Maps update.

Uninstalled with Titanium Backup, then reinstalled from the market, still having the issue. I hope an update fixes it :/

Ok... maybe a rogue app causing problems? If it worked before and it doesn't now maybe something that was introduced into your tablet is messing with it.
Or possibly modified settings? Sorry your having issues. Hopefully the next firmware update solves it for you.

Maybe, I'll wait till the custom roms mature a bit and see what a fresh install can do.
Just updated to .26 last night and tested. Can't replicate your issue. Can you verify that the GPS is functional via a testing app like GPS Test or GPS Toolbox?

Google now not able to sing in

Same Here
I have the same issue, I thought it was just my phone being weird (I9300 with CyanogenMod 10) I guess it's affecting all Jelly Bean users... Maybe google is preparing for an update?

Just to level out the playing field, I've got the same problem on a Samsung Nexus (I just noticed it sometime over the last hour or so). I just happened to wind up here when Google Now said "No Connection" and then brought me here as if it had a perfect connection
edit; Haven't tested this notion yet but I realize that this started for me when I applied today's google maps update which supposedly is more tightly integrated with google now so that it can get maps.google.com searches history that was just typed in on a pc in your account. I'm going to revert back to the backed up prior one and see if it goes away.
Good to know that am not the only one.

Was just about to start a new topic for this. I thought I was alone. Maybe I'll try reverting the Maps App too.
Edit:: Nope, still issues.

Reverted to 1 version back of Google Maps (about 1 month old), and it didn't change the 'no connection" problem in Google Now, so .. so much for that theory
I don't think this a compatibility issue , it seems to me an error on Google side. I hope it gets resolve quickly.

search for the error brought me here. have the same problem.
Galaxy Nexus on aokp b2
yup I too and some people over nexustablets
I'm on the SGH T989, T-Mobile Galaxy S2 and getting the same message , its an issue with google servers, not any particular ROM

Me too! Does Google have a Status Update place?
W
Having the same issues. It's occurring on my Nexus 7, Galaxy Nexus, and an Acer A200 tablet, with both of my Google accounts. I tried clearing the data for Google Now on the 7 and GNex, nothing. Changing passwords doesn't help, and reverting to the old maps doesn't. I even tried uninstalling the most recent Google Now update, nothing.
Lets hope this gets fixed today!

Default Browser ~ Bookmarks Freezes App?

Guys,
I picked up my UK 32GB N8010 two days back and whilst using the default Internet app I noticed whenever I click on the Bookmarks Tag to the right of the screen it takes me to the Bookmarks page where no bookmarks are shown but more annoyingly it then freezes the browser.
Is this a common issue with the default browser?
Yes, I will be using another browser but it would be good to hear if there is an issue.
So many views yet not one reply.... Surely there must be one owner here who can provide me with an answer... pretty please :fingers-crossed:
Never had this problem. I have 4 samsung accounts in bookmarks but no freeze. Try to clear data for the app.

Thanks but tried that.....
Try and play with your sync settings for your Google account, I'm guessing is trying to sync your bookmarks and can't.

Good call but believe me that was one of the first things I did.
It's clearly corruption of some kind. I was hoping to get to the bottom of this purely out of curiosity but it looks like I may just bite the bullet and factory reset, it's going to be easier in the end I'm beginning to think.
If it doesn't bothers you to much just live it like that until the jb update and do the reset just before updating.

The Jelly Bean update is another argument which I and many others as (you know) are having with Samsung.
I have the N8010 and JB is not out... period.
Try and get an answer from Samsung is like turning water into wine... I have never met so many politicians as can be found in Samsung, you simply can not get a definitive answer.. more like an answer within another question.
As such I can't see JB coming to the N8010 before Christmas (samfirmwares don't have anything yet and I don't want to go the N8000 route), so I'll reset and see how things go thanks.
