Hi,
couldn't find this here anywhere, so I'm asking you guys: Is it possible to use a mobile phone's internet acces by connecting it to a tf101 through usb? I'm thinking about buying a non-3g-model with the additional keyboard, and using the internet through my android mobile phone would just be perfect.
Thanks in advance!
People have used PDAnet to handle USB to 3g connections.
I prefer a rooted phone and mobile hotspot.
Hi!
I have SGS with stock 2.3.5 and no root.
In Wifi settings just thick Mobile DT, enter your desired password and it's working.

Hey I am just learning the basics of smartphones. And I switched from Windows Mobile to my new Samsung Android. Anyways my question is: I have an old HTC Pure. I was wondering if I can use the phone as a wireless router. Use it to get the wifi signal and then connect it to my pc via usb and use the wifi to go on the internet on my pc.
Here are the basics. I have a PC in a room with no phone jack and the pc has no bluetooth or wifi. So I was wondering if I can connect my HTC Pure via usb and use the pure's wifi to brosw the web.
Thanks
~Mo
Can anyone help me because I really wish I had internet in that room

hi everyone,
i just want to know can we access mobile's internet in pc by connecting lg optimus black to pc via data cable? for example like we can do it in nokia using nokia pc suite.
thanks,
pratz
is it that no one ever tried to connect any lg mobile to pc and used mobile's connection to access internet on PC?
The term you are looking for is: Tethering. AFAIK the LG Optimus Black can only tether via USB when using a third party app. You could look for ClockworkMod Tether for example.
no, i was not looking for teethring. in teethring you need to use your mobile as wifi hotspot, but i wanted to know whether you can connect using data cable and use internet the way you do in nokia pc suite.
but i got my answer as i sent a mail having the same question to LG and they replied as below

Thank you for contacting LG Electronics

Dear customer,
Thanks for sharing your concern with us.
IN p970 phone, the internet can only be shared by wifi hotspot feature given in the phone (settings> wireless & netwrok >Tethering & portable hotspot > portable wifi hotspot & also do relevant portable wifi hotspot settings ).
In laptop which have inbuilt wifi option for internet, first connect your phone with the wifi connectivity then share this wifi network with the help of wifi hotspot to the laptop.
For pc pls use USB wifi dongle then share the internet.
thanks
pratz
Well, I still recommend you to look into ClockworkMod Tether or similar.
"ClockworkMod Tether is a USB tether solution for Mac, Windows, and Linux that allows you to use your phone's data connection to get internet access on your desktop or laptop."
USB Tethering means using a "Data Cable"
Hi all,
Wondering if anyone knows of an Android app that will allow me to share the lan connection on my tablet via wifi?
Have looked at lots of hotspot type apps but the vast majority are simple shortcuts to an exisiting wifi hotspot function that shares the mobile data connection.
Seems daft to me that I have lan and wifi on my tablet but I'm looking at an ap to connect my other devices!
Thanks
Jin
I didnt understand what u said
If u want to share ur tab net to other use wifi hotspot
If u have wifi connection u can connect via wifi

Are you trying to tether your data connection or do you mean using your tablet as a hub for an existing wifi connection?
What phone do you have?
What carrier?
Did you root your phone?
Have you flashed a new ROM?
Sorry but you were rather vague in your post.

Ok thanks. To clarify my tablet (not phone and therefore no carrier involved) has both ethernet and wifi I would like to use the ethernet to connect to my network/internet and then broadcast that connection via wifi.
This is exactly the same thing a normal wifi hotspot does except it broadcasts the mobile data connection as opposed to a wired connection.
The tablet has been flashed with Tims 6 ROM
Don't now if it's possible. On phone it;s not possible to share be a hotspot when you're on wifi. I guess it uses the same piece of hardware. That might also be the case for you with the LAN.
BTW try talking to this guy :

he had sort of the same question perhaps he figured it out?
edit: This is also you i now see.. never mind

How do you have your tablet connected to the internet, wireless or wired? If wired, how did you do that? If it's wireless, you're just using your tablet as a signal booster.
What i'm confused on is if you connected your tablet wireless and want to connect other devices to your tablet's "wifi" which in essence is wifi, why can't that device connect to the same internet as your tablet?
I think we're all a bit confused on what you're trying to accomplish.
Sorry folks struggling here with what you don't get (not being smart just confused)
I have an Android tablet that has both wifi and an ethernet connection, I connect to my network via ethernet and want to use that connection to then create a wifi hotspot for my other devices to connect to.
I already do this with my win7 laptop and am looking for an app to do the same on the tablet.
If my terminology is correct I need to bridge the lan connection to the wifi adapter?
Dear All,
I am currently using a Windows Vista based laptop with a Intel WiFi Link 5100 AGN wireless card in it with updated drivers. Now whenever I try connect using connectify to make a wireless hotspot it does create a hotspot, but on my android handset I can't find any wifi network in range. Pls suggest a way to reverse tether my phone with my pc without the need of rooting the phone. I am currently using a Android v4.0.I am using internet through a USB Data Card.
Thanx All.

your going to have to root it to be able to tether pc to your phone or phone to pc.
use "pda net+" for usb theathring wifi hot spot as wel as bluetooth theathring.
There's another app called FoxFi that claims to handle wifi tether w/out root. But I've never used it ,and i'm not sure if it works to tether in either direction, but worth a quick look .... (can't post a link cuz i'm not >10 posts yet)

Thanks but this does not answer my issue, I don't want the MetroPCS knowing how much i use due to them limiting my data after i use up the mobile hotspot.
When you use your Galaxy phone as a mobile hotspot, all the other devices accessing the Internet through it use your mobile data plan. That is the way it is.

This i know but there are ways of bypassing your carrier from detecting how much data you use on your hotspot.
i want to know how to bypass so i don't hit data limits
