3G Traffic counter in Galaxy R - Samsung Galaxy R i9103

I am a galaxy R I9103 (non-root, gingerbread 2.3.6) user from Hong Kong.
I almost use all avaliable traffic counter in Market , non-market (such as app developed in the mainland China), none of them can correctly count the 3G traffic counter.
Yet, most of them can correctly count WIFI data traffic.
Can anyone suggest a 3G traffic counter work normally?
Thank You !

Use 3g watchdog vfrom market bro. Works fine

Yes i have the same Problem, none data counter works correct :-(
Provider 3-Austria

Its happening because of stock kernel prob. Use ardatdat kernel all 3g counters will perfect with it. U will need to install cfw first as u have stock.

Traffic counter Onavo for I9103
I am using Onavo, but i am still testing. Its not working perfect but it seems to be ok. Onavo shows the traffic for each app. These values seem to be ok. I confirmed this by downloading attachements or apps, of which i know the size. So i simply add all the values of the different apps and at least i know how much i used about. Onavo also show a summary of the traffic, but there it only shows a few kb. Same sh*t like with all the other counters. But this is the first month i try it this way. I ll post again when i verified with the data of my provider. Not sure if this works correctly...
Pls excuse my ****ty english

Works good enough for me for now

Yes, and finally after joining the club of the kernelflashers everything works nice and smooth with ardatdat's 1.6. Was in doubt about flashing because i have sh*tloads of apps on my R, but NO problem at all. Big THANK YOU! for this!

220MB of data used in less than 1 day. WHAT?

I just checked my t-mobile account and noticed I used 220mb of data since yesterday afternoon. How in the world is this possible if I was on wifi 90% of the time?
This sucks because I lose 4g speeds after 2GB of data.
are you sure that's only since yesterday & not from the start of your billing cycle?
I'm a brand new tmobile customer. Signed up yesterday.
Might be the T-Mobile app thing. There was somebody else complaining of high data usage and traced it back to this app.

I'll see if I can find the thread for you
Couldn't find the specific post/thread I was quoting, but I did find this, on Android Police:
Update: Don’t install this app until it gets an update – it will turn your GPS on every 10 seconds to update your location info, and won’t stop unless you Force Stop it from the Manage Applications screen. It was at 68% on my phone’s battery usage menu after 6 hours of doing little with my phone aside from checking e-mail sporadically. Yuck.

If it's using GPS to update your location every 10 seconds, that needs data. So I suspect, if you have this app installed, this could be your problem.
Get a data usage app that tells you what app is using how much data. If it shows that it is indeed this new T-Mobile app, there's your problem
From this post: http://www.androidpolice.com/2011/0...more-for-me-though-were-not-sure-why-exactly/

Just downloaded it. I'm not concerned with data (tho still want to read that post), I'm more concerned with why a lot of apps that I don't even use seem to always be on.
I think it's because they're stock apps and the default is always on. Once we have root, we should be able to get rid of them, and once we can flash ROMs, we can install stock HTC software, or Android Revolution HD
Just another reason to have s-off and root
Ok, after downloading traffic counter, it looks like it IS my fault for the excessive data usage.
It's showing the speed test app as using 130mb of data (since last reboot, which was yesterday). I admit I went a little crazy on the speedtest app yesterday and today (I've never had 4g speeds before switching to tmobile), but why does it use SO much data? I did quite a few tests, but still.
I tried that traffic counter app. XDA is killing my data 27mb. I spend to much time at this place.

As I'm on an unlimited data plan, I don't really care about data usage. I can go up to something like 5gb and my network (giffgaff, easily the best network in the UK) doesn't really care! The only thing I can't do is tether, but I can create a wifi hotspot for when I need to get on the internet on a bigger screen
If you're in the UK, I strongly implore you to take a look at giffgaff. Link in my sig

if you have a fast connection it needs to send/receiver bigger files to get an accurate account of what your speed it. if it only used like a 512KB file then it'd show your speed as 1028238234978234978MBps.

Ultimate Juice & Juice Defender WORKING!!!

Uninstall both JD Ultimate & JD, then restart phone.
Install JD Ultimate FIRST and launch it. It will ask you to instal JD. either get it from the market, or install the private beta, if you have it.
Once both are installed, launch JD.
I'm running it in Advanced Profile.
IF YOU'RE IN A 3g ONLY AREA, you need to check the box for "Mobile Data Autofix". It SHOULD NOW toggle your 3g data connection when you unlock the screen. It takes about 45 seconds because it's restarting the radio; but it does come back on.
IF YOU'RE IN A 4g/LTE AREA, no need to check the Autofix box. The 4g connection pops right back on IMMEDIATLEY after unlocking.
I have tested this successfully in 3g Richmond, VA AND in 4g Boston, MA over the last week consistently. I have also reported my findings to the Latedroid Feedback & Support Forum. The Devs have confirmed the sequence and are invesigating it as a possible firmware issue.
So, for now, 4g is working perfectly... 3g works with about a 45 second delay. And I'm @ 1.76x battery savings boost! Went almost 12.5 hours on 4g, heavy internet, sms, and FB app use. But, now, unfortunately I'm back in slow 3g Richmond!
Well, I bought and installed JD ultimate because of this post and I messed up my phone big time.
It seemed to work great at first, then I totally lost my data connection and even turning off the app and restarting didn't fix it. I finally did get back my data by deleting JD and restarting/pulling the battery etc but the system is still not right.
It is very laggy now and I will have to do a system restore (something that always makes me a little nervous)
I am running gummy 1.9.1 and I really don't want to redo the whole system, but I may have to I suppose.
I would not advise anybody to try this app at this point.
~John
I have been running JD plus on Gummy GB for about 3 weeks. Switches just fine and my data has been coming back. Why do you have to have ultimate? I have not seen any updates on my version either?
I think I must be lucky but it has been working for me.
I can't imagine how JD screwed up your phone the way you describe Jmorton. I doubt it's the app.... Ellisz, you are lucky! Lol! There are a couple support threads open on this issue over at Laterdroid. For whatever reason this is what worked for me. I already owned Ultimate from my Droid X, so that's what I use.
Mine worked fine on gb but not froyo. Wheres this mobile data autofix I can't find it

This is the ONLY change I have made in weeks and the problem started almost immediately. Removing the app did get my data running again and the phone does seem OK now after multiple reboots/battery pulls and clearing the memory.
I guess it may work in then GB ROMs, but in my froyo setup it caused all kinds of problems. Iwill just shut off 4g with my toggle when I don't need it and carry a spare battery which is no big deal.

Hi peeps, I just received the newest market on my g2x 3.3.11 looks awesome.

The previous update sucked big time. Is this one better? I'm on 2g and the previous update was slow as a tortoise (compared to version 2). I've deleted the updater so won't be getting it unless I install the apk. How about sharing it?

Works fine here. The only problem I had with the previous versions was that the Market would switch between my Google accounts at it's own volition and make it look like I didn't have any apps installed or available to update. The trick with that was just to change the market app to the correct account. That issue seems to be gone (helps that it tells you which account you're using right in your face this time).
I like it, I hope it stops telling me to update things I've already updated...
I got it a few days ago I didn't e end realize it till I went to settings I don't see any difference in performance just more settings

What has changed is internal.
1. No longer has the bug of changing accounts when click on updates in the notification bar.
2. Can set all apps to auto-update and set it to auto-update only over wifi. This is the best change they have made so far. I have had times when the market went crazy and ate up all my data, costing me extra money.
3. Some other changes in settings.
Have used it today and it's not as laggy as the previous version over 2g mobile data. It's also not as quick as 2.2. Will use it for a few days and see how it acts. Or switch to 2.2 again.

rooting a friends phone:
Try Open Garden or WiFi Tethering (root) apps from market.
You've conflated a couple questions here.
"Which ROMs have a built-in feature for WiFi tethering?"
Most, if not all, do.
"Given that T-Mobile generally prohibits tethering, is there a way that I can tether in a way that I am not blocked by T-Mobile?"
Yes, there are several ways that you can make the traffic appear as though it originated on your phone. Most, if not all, of these are applications, use of things like VPN or ssh tunneling, or configuration of your tethered clients. There are several approaches. Search is your friend on finding one that works for you and that you are comfortable with.

Yes that works or just go to settings>wireless and networks>tethering. No need for an app if its built in but if you want one there's plenty to choose from
Wifi tethering used to work no problem on my phone but T-Mobile very recently seems to have changed something where they can detect it - on ICS ROM's - and block it in the browser on your computer. It takes a few link clicks to get the blocked page.
For this - I have to switch to a google related user agent to not have wifi tethering blocked.

that's funny, i'm using aokp (latest team acid build), and i was just using wifi tethering with no problems at all. not to mention that i'm not even supposed to have it since i have the new plan "truly unlimited 4g." the problem i do have though is usb tethering. i gave my team members a log to see if its fixable the other day, but haven't heard anything yet. its no big deal to me unless i wanna use it to tether my pc when our dsl daily cap is reached (which is everyday, but "i" don't use the pc everyday). basically just gave em the log to try and help those who do want/need it.

It was new for me. And only through the browser. Still connects no problem but after several clicks it will pop up a T-Mobile page saying I don't have the tethering package. I am on Raver's ICS Audiophile.
I was tethering just fine on vacation last week, until I got a text message from T-mobile saying they were blocking it, and sure enough it quit working.
I gotta look into the user agent spoofing I guess... at least before my next trip.
(All three of the hotels I was in were changing $5-10 for internet!)
T-Mobile is on a roll!
Didn't actually think they were gonna give something for nothing did ya.
They know that with strategic planning...(lower the plan price and give you more data)....if they give a little....you'll want more,so now they can ask for more, and sleep soundly when they go to bed at night.
So mine got blocked too, took me a couple of hours last night but found a way around it using Bluetooth Open Garden and VPN combination. Back to free tethering....victory over TMobile!....for now at least.

Yeah, but it's possible that was just because I was trying multiple solutions. I'll look at it again tonight and see if I can substitute the Bluetooth with WiFi and keep it working. I think it might be in my proxy settings....it was late and I was happy to just get access.

Or you can change the user agent for your browser and just use wifi tethering as you normally would. It is a pretty simple fix.

I thought with Google Chrome you have to have the Developers Tools open for that to persist. Is there a simple way to make it stick without having to have the developer tools window open? Thanks.
Edit: Ok, so tried the APN switch on Google chrome last night and it did work, while the developers tools window is open. Only issue was that some of the sites that my wife uses that have display issues on mobile web now have the same issue on the PC...I'm not talking about page layout, but specific links and options not displaying....the reason she still needs to use the PC in the first place. I can definitely recommend the APN fix to people being blocked by Tmobile as a quick simple fix as previously stated in this thread. It took a little longer to set up, but I'm sticking with the VPN for full functionality.
Regarding the wifi use with VPN; I haven't been able to get it to work yet, so sticking with the Bluetooth for now.

Hey John,
Don't tell me you actually believe it? Besides, if I'm wrong and it really works, which I doubt, you won't see the difference.
The YT video wants you to "put ( your phone) near at metal objects", which is kinda frankenstein-ish and too much of a hassle...
C'mon, 3 applications? Seriously?
Better get a new phone with a stroger adapter, alternatively an LTE compatible smartphone/phablet. ^ ^
True, if you're living on the outskirts of the city, in rural regions or somewhere in the desert, then yea, you probably wanna try that. If I lived there I'd probably go crazy.

Tried it. Does not work. I try everything, because my Sprint service in San Francisco has got to be the slowest LTE ever! I messed up and let my daughters get new phones on Sprint, so now I'm stuck with them for a while. Any other suggestions on increasing speed levels is greatly appreciated.
