Hey guys I am having a problem with my Market that hopefully someone could help me with.
So I was playing with my transformer - testing youtube, websites, & downloading apps. All of a sudden the top section of the Market - where it usually has the flash-based (?) carousel of the featured apps - is gone. I believe this occurred after I update Adobe Flash to the latest 10.2.157.51. Don't exactly remember what happened.
When I put the Market widget on the desktop, it keep showing nothing but the autoCAD WS app (See pic). And while in Market, I can't even click on the "Featured Tablet Apps" section. However, "Top Free Apps" section works.
I tried to go to Settings->Applications->Market-> clear data and clear cache but was unsuccessful. Also did a factory data rest but that didn't work.
I have verified with a friend's xoom and he doesn't have the same problem I'm having. He updated to the lastest flash too. So I'm not sure if that's the problem.
I am on build 20110414.
UPDATE: Seems like market is back to normal with the carousel and everything
okay so it's not just me. rebooted my TF 3 times cause i thought something was wrong.
nothing to do with flash though. i installed flash yesterday and the market was working fine up until about 2 hours ago when this happened to me.
something just got screwed up in the tablet market thats all.
i am having this problem right now, so it just fixes itself out?
yea i had my doubts that it was the flash update.
i still don't get how my friend's xoom has the market fully working with the top carousel of apps and feature tablet apps section working.
do you guys also have the issue where the market widget only displays the autoCAD app?
this error is also not letting me open/purchase any paid apps
Just checked mine because I did not have that problem, it loaded up with the carousel and then just disappeared. It must be something to do with android market place.
I can see my paid apps as installed but did not carry out a search to see if paid apps show on the market place when searching.

Now I am having the same problem, it shows the paid app on the market but when you select it, it gives an error saying that details of the paid app cannot be found.
same issue running modaco hr3 - based off 0423 update.

Well don't you think that is totally amazing?
That was the most annoying things i had with my device, some scrolling carousel taking up nearly 40% of the app promoting random apps that were of no interest to me whatsoever
I would have paid money to have it removed!
What was wrong with the 'ordinary' market from phones? where you were told of 'latest apps', 'my apps', 'paid apps', on pages that i could go to if i wanted to by clicking on the link.
Another annoying thing was that worthless market widget
Who would want a widget on their screen displaying random **** that you have no interest in it's just ill conceived garbage!
Why couldn't i adjust it in settings so it would display new released apps from a certain section 'productivity' for example
Because it looks like the best android developers knowlonger work for google, they have all left and gone to work for HTC and sense development

I totally agree with you however I would like to purchase apps too, this bug( or fix, depending on how you see it) has screwed up the paid apps which if it didn't, i wouldn't have complained.
Anyone found a fix yet?
It seems google has been doing something with the market over the last few days, as lots of weird goings on have occured. I'm speculating that a tablet section will be added not too far off in the future, like itunes does for iphone/ipad. The layout has certainly changed over the last few days, that's for sure. Probably just a matter of time before your problems are resolved.
I'm having problems with seeing paid apps in the market as well... they aren't there!
I guess it will be the web market until the market app gets fixed.
Same problem. Im not rooted. Can't install or view details on paid apps.

that would be awesome. but right now i just want a functioning market. that worthless market widget is even less functional when it keep displaying the same autocad app. argh
as some have mentioned before, I'm really hoping that an update to the market is imminent
There's a thread at Google here about this -

woohoo market is back to normal. Market widget and carousel are all working properly.
Transformer just arrived. All set up and using my existing Google Account.
However, if i click on any paid apps in the market it states 'Sorry, details page for the requested item could not be found' ....
Its let me sync all my other apps, including paid ones, and it recognised my ID ...
what am i missing ??
There are a couple of other threads open on this, it seems that from yesterday some users are starting to experience the same market issues. I have the same problem and it started this morning, i don't think its a problem with your account or set up. I have emailed Google apps, awaiting their reply or a fix from other users.
If I were a betting person I'd say we're not far off an update of the market that will add a proper tablet specific section, just like itunes has for iphone/ipad apps, as any time an app is reported a few times that it's crashing/FC'ing in honeycomb, it seems to get blocked for tablet installations. So maybe it has something to do with a google reshuffle of the way apps are viewed.

You could be right but it is not affecting incompatible apps, it is any paid app, i have installed a few from your thread prior to this issue and now cannot install new ones you have added as compatible e.g. backup pro.

Yeah but I'd assume paid apps were on different servers, as they would have more encrypted data, so possibly one section could be affected while the other remains untouched during an upgrade.

Mmm... possibly, will have to wait and see, hopefully sooner rather than later.
Just started getting this today too :-(
I was getting this quite a bit last night, but it wasn't only for paid apps. Some free ones had the problem as well. My workaround for a paid app that I hadn't yet purchased was to buy it on my computer and it was automatically sent to my device.
I got it only once today, don't remember which app. But it has worked fine generally.
I got this message on a few different apps last night. I was able to get around it by either hitting the back button instead of OK in the popup. Or by going to the market through the browser and pushing the app to my device. The market app for HC is really lacking at this point. You can't even review apps. Hopefully they will update soon.

I'm getting this too.
Temporary solution is to download any app from market.android.com and have it manually download from your browser to your tablet.
I can't install from the market web app - get a notice that I "have not opened the market recently on this device" (which I have - I'm in it now..)
[RESOLVED - See Below]
Ok, I have created a GoLauncher theme APK. I have uploaded apps to the market before, but this is my first paid app.
It is "Electric Eye GoLauncher Theme" on the Market...the forum will not allow me to post any links here yet.
On MY end, the APK size is just over 15 megs. But for some reason, on the market it is showing as 31 Megs. I dont know why...this did not happen with any of the other Apps I uploaded. I cant download it because apparently Google has a rule where you can't "buy" your own app. Although I am able to install all of my other "Free" apps just fine from the market.
Any ideas? Is there something I am missing?
EDIT - April 3 2012 - This is just as an FYI for anyone else who has this issue. I spoke with Google support finally, and they said this is caused by using the copy protection option when you publish. If you turn copy protection on, it apparently adds 16+ Megs (!) to your app size? I have no idea why. But once I disabled it, my app "shrank" back to human proportions and is now normal size. This change took effect immediately...as soon as I saved the changes and went to my app on the market, the size was fixed.
Google said my options were to use their license key system (which is free, but kind of a hassle for the end user) or to figure out something on my own (LOL). Ah well...for this app I am not that worried about it anyway. But Google didnt do a very good job of documenting this stuff on the developer console, so I am posting it here in case it helps anyone else.
I have a (4GB) Tronsmart TS7 (some times known as a Alps Glacier TS7). It's a Chinese MTK6589 based phone running Android 4.2 purchased from geekbuying.
For the most part the device is stock, there are next to no pre-installed apps apart from the usual, and the only additional apps I have installed are: Playstation, Steam, ColorNote, Shuttle+, Root Explorer DI Radio, Chrome & Gmail
The problem I have is that there are apps appearing on the device that I am not installing. So far it has been the same set of apps that appear:
Mobo Market
UC Browser
TrustGo Security
DU Battery Saver
337 Game Master
GameCenter
(there may be more)
These apps don't start appearing right after a factory reset, but start to arrive 1-2weeks later. They also seem to be packaged similarly; when I say packaged I mean opening them seems to prompt with the same menu & style (accept licence etc) before it gets to the main app. Also, after you open the app from the app drawer it then creates an icon on the desktop. Maybe opening it actually does the installing?
The apps themselves seem to be legit.
I have factory reset the device (twice), and changed my Google password but they are still appearing. They don't show up in my Play store history so they must be coming from elsewhere.
My main concern is that if it is downloading things without my permission, what might it be uploading ? Not to mention wasting my 3g data etc.
So I have a few questions:
Should I be (really) worried?
Is there a way to monitor this? eg connect to a wifi hotspot and packet capture the network traffic? or maybe use a process monitor (the ones I've tried so far haven't shown anything) to see if there is some sort of script in the background?
Can it be stopped?
Thanks in advance, I would be interested to know if anyone else has/had this problem?
I have the same problem.
I haven't tried flashing some other ROM yet, but I guess that is the only way to get it to stop installing those things.
Have you actually found any other roms to install?
For anybody's information:
You may have noticed how you always end up with a 'Tronsmart.mp4' video file appearing in your gallery app. This is damn annoying since it appears twice, once on the internal and once on the external SD card. There is an '\system\app\CopyTest.apk' file which creates both of these. Should be safe to delete it and thus prevent the file(s) appearing
I have actually decompiled this apk. It works as a service that runs when MEDIA_UNMOUNTED or MEDIA_MOUNTED is invoked, and does absolutely nothing else.
I have the same problem, those random apps installing and the video always in my gallery. I have managed to stop tge apps by using a firewall and allowing only my apps that i want to use the internet. I havent found a solution though to fix the problem. Probably tronsmart is spamming its customers...

What Firewall did you use? I might be able to use something like that to pinpoint the app that's causing this.
Sory for the late reply. I am usin "android firewall" free from google play store.
USB debugging disabled stopped it on mine
edit: not that easy, wasn't enough. made some cleanup by disabing/removing some system apps. seems to work so far although there are still some strange events like superuser crashing and right after that system downloader.apk reappearing. haven't seen any other junk coming back
these are the apk's i removed:
systemupdateassistant
systemdownloader
omacp
mtkbt
midtest
galaxy4
fusedlocation
engineermode
engineermodesim
cds_info

Hey guys! I've been suffering WhatsApp force close for months.
Details
- CyanogenMod 11 (last build)
- GT-S7275R
- Full Gapps Package Installed
More people has this problem, and I've been looking for the cause, but I didn'r find anything related.
The exact problem is that while using the phone (also when screen is swiched off) WhatsApp forces close. You can only accept and when you open WhatsApp again, conversation chats are damaged and you have to restore it. In rares cases, doesn't appear any chat, and have to unistall Whatsapp and reinstall it to restore conversations.
A lot of people from my blog has reported this problem, however, not everyone has this "bug", so I'm comparing apps and system configuration that people who has that problem has set.
I started to research yesterday, and I conclude that it's not a system setting problems, due to WhatsApp is the only app that forces close.
Owing to it, I think the problem is an app that causes conflict with WhatsApp.
I have some suspicious apps that can cause it:
(EDIT: I've been investigating more and I dismiss some apps)
- GravityBox
- Clean Master
- SwiftKey Keyboard
- BusyBox
- Pimp my ROM (I think is this app)
- Change stock launcher (for example, ADW Launcher)
I've to talk with more friends to see is they're using one of that apps and having WhatsApp FC simultaneously.
Also, I thinking that Gapps could be realted to the problem. Nervetheless I haven't ask for which gapps did they use (people with that problem).
So I'm doing this thread to find a solution, because I've tried a lot of things and didn't work.
That's all. Waiting replies. Sorry for my bad english :silly:

WhatsApp freeze
Even my WhatsApp's been freezing for the last few months. I'm using Samsung S5 and S6 both with Exynos processor.
Incase of a solution please post it here.
Thanks,
Kesh.
