Hi I was wondering when you wipe the system and data does it delete everything on the internal memory like music and photos?

If you do fastboot -w you will lose everything (experience). Not sure about factory reset. But if you have the rogue recovery you can turn off wiping /data/media and do a factory reset that won't erase all you data on your internal sdcard.

Wiping system data clears the data folder (user settings, downloaded apps...etc). Your picture and music folders should remain as is.

I did a factory reset and it wiped my internal SD as expected, but it also wiped system files I backed up on my external SD but not my music? Is there a way to store titanium backups so they do not get erased?

I figured it out. Doing the factory reset in recovery doesn't wipe internal storage versus doing it from inside the phone does.

You can change where TB stores its backups and move them to the external SD card.

I used titanium backup and after i flashed and installed it again, my apps weren't on it. Anyone know why? (wipe cache, dalvik, and data)
Check your backup folder location in TI Preferences.

Yeah this has happened to me a few times once you go to that folder there is an option to search for backups on the device.
On a side note before I back up with titanium backup I go to this option and pick the location I want to backup to and restore from making sure its on the external sd card..

You back-ups are being stored on the phones internal storage card [5GB] not the external storage [actual card - 32 gb in my case]. Just change the back-up location.

I flashed to synergy from stock. Before I did, I wiped cache, dalvic, wiped data/factory reset, then under 'mounts & storage' I formatted system.
Then I flashed synergy, booted up and set up. I looked under my files and there are still files on my internal SD from the stock rom, like pictures, screenshots, ez unlock files, etc
Isn't all that supposed to be wiped or is it normal for that to be there?

You wiped correctly. That is normal. If you wipe sd cards that will be gone also and those folders will be rebuilt empty when you flash the rom. All those files you mentioned are added by you and not by the rom.

Lol lmao but when I do the factory data reset all of those folders are always there I have to manually delete them.
So my best guess is they yes once you did your data reset you wiped your drive.

When you do a wipe with CWM you only wipe data and cache files, not the whole internal sdcard. Not 100% sure about TWRP but I think that it acts the same. Only recovery that wipes the WHOLE internal sdcard is stock, IIRC.

Correct. Works the same on TWRP although it's worded and detailed differently.
-Factory Reset on TWRP = Format data/wipe data option on CWM, both processes format data and cache
-Wipe Data on TWRP deletes everything and it evens states so in the confirmation screen to delete

I'm sorry for this very basic question. I've tried to read some thread, but I haven't understood if wipe data (CWM 6.0.1.0) deletes also the internal sd (music, download and so on) or not.

I've read (but the thread wasn't about GT plus) that CWM wipes only system files and leaves all the user files in the internal sd. On the contrary, stock recovery and android factory reset should wipe the internal sd too.

Also called userdata, this partition contains the user data - and here that the contacts, messages, settings and applications that are installed by the user are saved. Erasing this partition is essentially performs the data recovery device to factory defaults, returning to the state it was in when the first restart, or after the installation of an official update or a custom ROM. When you run wipe data\factory reset is clear in practice this partition.
/sd card
This is not a partition on the internal flash of the device, but the SD card In terms of use, this is the storage space used to store media files, documents, etc ROM on it.
Delete this partition is completely safe, enough to have done before a backup of all data that affect on your computer. We must bear in mind that even different applications installed by the user save the data and settings on the SD card, and then delete this partition will make you lose all of these data.
If it is not directly selected "Format sd ", the internal memory will be deleted and the data such as photos, videos, backup, etc. will remain.
For cleaning system , enter Recovery Mode wipe data/factory reset , wipe cache partiton ,wipe dalvik cache,format /sdcard!
Giving my sister this phone. I want it to be nice and fresh. If I wipe Internal Storage... All pics, files, etc will be deleted correct? This I want all fresh. I have all TWRP backups on ext SD. If I wipe Internal Storage while on a ROM...it will boot after wiping correct?

Go into TWRP and select wipe. Check all of the partitions you wish to wipe,, in this case Internal (Make sure system,/data/boot/ etc is UNchecked and internal IS checked - or 'X'ed or whatever you want to call). I assumed you want the ROM to still be loaded and operable, of course.
