[Q] Help the GF flash ICBINB rom please!? - Samsung Galaxy S (4G Model)

So basically my GF wants a faster phone..and ICBINB KJ6 sounds amazing! Here's the thing..her phone is rooted, Galaxy S 4G, and its running 2.3.6...I've looked at the official thread from Team Acid but the INSTRUCTIONS SEEM TO VAGUE for me..as i am somewhat of an amateur..IF YOU CAN PLZ REPLY WITH SIMPLE CLEAR INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO FLASH ICBINB from 2.3.6..That would be *LOVELY*

Download the rom to SD card. Boot into cwm recovery. Choose install update from SD card. Find icbinb zip file. Install.

[ROM] CWM Flashable - T959VUVKD1 - DEODEXED[05/11/2011]

Here you go guys. Credit for the base goes to Whitehawkx, luckyduck69, and joedev for KD1, I just took the tar, re-deodexed, and made it CWM Flashable with unters deodex program.
If you have the update.zip (CWM Beta1) on your sd, please upgrade to Beta2.

Here it is.

No, you need the Clockwork mod in order to flash the update. Check out the CWM thread and it will explain how to set it up. Once you have clockwork, all you need to do is go into the Clockwork recovery and select the zip to flash it.

Yes, you do... you place the Update.zip in the root of your SdCard and then boot into Stock Recovery and select Reinstall packages (this will install the update.zip which is CWM Recovery)(U should check the Beta2 Thread for more info)

Modem flashing

Have been trying to change my modem for the last three days now no one hag actually explained thee process off flashing the modem just need someone to point me in the right direction thanks
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA Premium App
flashing a modem is just like flashing anything else in cwm.
pick one up from the following thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1117331
put the zip file on your sd card root. go to cwm (im guessing you have the red cwm), go to install from sd card, choose zip file, choose whichever modem you want, flash it, go back, reboot. and you should be good.
Go to cwm make sure you mounts are good. mounts just to make sure unmount mount mount unmount. Then just flash the zip file of the modem you want. You can find the modems in the Bible thread.

Just so you know if you are running stock kernel you can't change the modem. You need Bali kernel if you didn't know. I had to learn the hard way to. Trial and error

I had the same thing, are you rooted? If yes, did you use the zimage-kg4.tar. Because that file fixed it for me.
KG4 is pulling the recovery somewhere else.. it's not like Froyo where it reads the update.zip. i'm just hoping it's not part of the Kernel.

[Q] what recovery is use

for my phone i try the CWM from rom manager, but my recovery have the samsung recovery ? @[email protected]? and i has seen other talking bout cwd dont work and then im not sure but something call kG4 ??
i rooted my phone with the superone click but i cant get a recovery so i can flash ROMs on my phone ??
I recommend you to ODIN one of the customize ROM or KERNEL in the development session first to get the CWM ( most of the case it was integrated to the ROM or kernel) then you can flash any ROM you want.
Or use the cwm final thread in the dev section.

Again, do not use ROM Manager. It does not work correctly with our phones. Whatever you need to flash, use ODIN or CWM. I'm not sure about UOT Kitchen though.
you flash UOT files though CWM, it works fine and I've done it many times.

So im using one of Dr honks's kernals. The 2.3.3 one with the messed up rainbow screen when you boot it up. Ive already had 4 problems with it and ive been running this for 3 days. Plus I cant even get into recovery. Is there a stable 2.3.4 or 2.3.5 kernal that has recovery?

sounds like you don't have the correct boot loaders on your phone, and you didn't flash gingerbread properly the first time around.
follow FB's directions to get your phone on a correct gingerbread build with the right boot loaders:

keep it tho honestly because this is the only real device that sucks with rom manger and u wont always have that phone
Raver has a great app on his ROM for CWM access..it's called Quick Boot..get it from market. Remember with GB I'd use kj1 from drhonk. Only use Bali 2.3 with froyo.

If u do that through CWM recovery then no u won't.
Sent from my SGH-T959V using xda premium
Kj1 would work best.. DL it through the phone if u want, move it to sd from the download folder (could be tapatalk folder depending on which browser u use) and flash through CWM . Should be pain free.
