[Q] When Installing a Kernel - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

Do I have to wipe data from CWM each time?

I've on wiped cache 3x's and dalvic 3x's, then flashed. I've never had problems.

never wipe data when flashing kernels...unless you like resetting up your apps and settings every time.

Which would you recommend for stock rooted? Have da_G 0.3 kernel right now.

Reboot

Ok so my phone started rebooting randomly on gingerbread and then when I went to ics the rebooting stopped but then every app would force constantly making the phone unusable so I did a factory reset that fixed apps then rebooting happened again. Will flashing a rom fix this?

Anyone?

The only way to tell is to reset and wipe caches 3 times or flash cwm then wipe everything 3 times then flash stock ics through odin and see if it helped, if not its probably a hardware problem.
How to do all of this is in my sig links.

And also take out sdcard just in case that's the problem, you never know

Can't wipe data/format from CWM TOUCH.

I'm trying to wipe my drive and user data but all that happens is a reboot? Help, I have no idea what to do.

I jumped to stock recovery and was able to wipe from there. How weird.

No

Noob question regarding ROM update.

I'm currently running CM10.1 Unofficial. In order to update to latest version, do I just install in CWM like installing a new ROM? Will I lose anything?
Sent from my SGH-I997 using xda app-developers app
Depends on what has changed in the ROM...if you don't know or are on an older version I'd recommend wiping data/dalvik cache maybe even format your system. It won't hurt

I'll just be updating from 1-14.

A simple cache wipe (maybe dalvik wipe) is all you need if your simply updating.

+1 ^ , and don't forget the gapps.
If you run into issues by only doing the cache wipes, reflash with a full wipe
Similar question, if I clear cache will I lose all the text logs and Bluetooth settings and all sort of tiny settings?

Cache

Why do I have 70 mb of cache on xda
Sent from my SGH-T959V using xda app-developers app
That is because of all the photos and many other things that are loaded up when you are viewing threads. Clearing it shouldn't do any harm.

But the cache saves to my device and takes up memory?

Would wiping cache in recovery get rid of this

That would clear the cache for your whole rom including your apps. Just go to the selected app in settings and press the button clear cache.
